PHP - Not Sure Why This Insert Is Failing Using "$result = $conn->query()"
An insert function is not inserting. I keep getting "Could not store data, please try again."
After some probing, it seems that "$result = $conn->query($user_degree_insert_query); " is where the problem is. Variables before it seem to pass testing. I can't figure out why this line is messing thins up though. Any idea? Thank you in advance for your help! So thank you in advance if you are kind enough to answer! Among many personal flaws, my issue is a technical one regarding the ability to retain session variables. Unfortunately whilst the website itself is not complicated, the problem is not as simple as just running session_start(); and letting it get on and do its own thing. So the problem exists around a relatively simple contact form and the basic Turing test that it uses to prove the user is human. The script adds a value to the $_SESSION variable and then on the next page load, tests to see if the variable is still there. The computers have varying browser user agents indicating that they are all (so far) using one of the following: MSIE 8 MSIE 7 MSIE 7 in what appears to be MSIE 6 compatibility mode Now in testing, I can't get MSIE 8 or MSIE 7 to produce the same effect, with exception to MSIE 8 in "InPrivate" browsing mode. In this mode it is easy to see that there is no cookie txt file being created and thus no way of the browser to pass back the session id on the next page load. If I have a string, like this for example: $variable = 09385493; And I want to insert it into the database like this: mysql_query("INSERT INTO integers(number) VALUES ('$variable')"); When checking the integers table in my database, looking at the number field, the $variable that was inserted is outputted as 9385493 Notice the number zero was taken out of the front of the number. If the number is double 0's (009385493), both of those zero's would disappear, too. When the edit button is pressed on a site it passes the user_id as p_id to the page that catches it and displays the data. The problem is when I click on the "update user" button, I get the following error:
Warning: Undefined variable $the_user_id in C:\xampp\htdocs\3-19-21(2) - SafetySite\admin\edit_user.php on line 10 The weird thing is I had another update user page with a table I created that ran the query to update the table in the database just fine. But as I created it, it didn't look all that great so I recreated the page and used a bootstrap table because of the much cleaner look. Both pages have the exact same PHP code, the only difference is the bootstrap table I added in. So I'm really at a loss with this. Other than the table and PHP code, there is a script at the bottom of the page for the table itself to allow for searching within the table, i'll include that as well. The PHP code is as follows:

I don't have problem on sending this email to the user. What I want to appear is like this.. GoodDay "username", Blah Blah! how can you actually do that? I know that you can do that through session variables but the thing is email's can't accept scripts on sending emails. how can I get the value from a session variable for example and convert it to plain html text so that i can OUTPUT it to the email..
