PHP - Easy Sort?
Is there a simple way of sorting data like this?
$string = " 50|1|0|15|1|1~ 13|2|0|15|1|1~ 50|3|0|15|1|0~ 19|1|2|10|0|0~ 19|2|2|10|0|0~ 22|4|2|10|0|0~ 22|3|2|10|0|0~ 19|5|2|10|0|0~ 1|6|2|10|1|0~ 19|6|1|10|1|1 "; I treat this data as a string, and create an array out of it as follows: $individuals = explode("~", $string); Then I can divide up each individual as follows: foreach ($individuals as $individual) { $individual = explode("|", $individual); } How can I write something that sorts this data by $individual[0], $individual[1], and $individual[2], respectively and in that order?? After sorting I should get the following: $string = " 1|2|10|0|0~ 13|2|0|15|1|1~ 19|2|1|10|0|0~ 19|5|2|10|0|0~ 19|6|1|10|1|0~| 19|6|2|10|1|1~ 22|3|2|10|0|0~ 22|4|2|10|0|0~ 50|1|0|15|1|1~ 50|3|0|15|1|0 "; Help? I have no idea how to write such a function. Thank you guys. Hi all
Going to try and explain this as best as I can.
I currently have a query that sorts a list of records by number of points, then wins, 2nd places, 3rd places etc, the query is as follows

Lets say: All Group2+3 Group1 Group2 Group3 When hitting Submit you are taken to "send.php" As for now I have this: Code: [Select] <?php include "config.php"; $link = mysql_connect($dbhost, $dbuser, $dbpasswd) or die("Couldn't establish connection"); mysql_select_db($dbname); $gruppe = $_REQUEST['gruppe']; // Running the MySQL query if($_REQUEST['password'] == "something") { $results = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM medlemmer WHERE tilknytning = '$gruppe'"); //$results = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM medlemmer"); // Pulling up the results and iterating through them while ($row = mysql_fetch_object($results)) { // Emailing each member $ToEmail = $row->email; $EmailSubject = "BGA Nyhedsbrev"; $mailheader = "From: BGA\n"; $mailheader .= "Reply-To: noreply@bga.dk\r\n"; $mailheader .= "Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1\r\n"; $MESSAGE_BODY = "
BGA Nyhedsbrev

"; $MESSAGE_BODY .= "".nl2br($_POST["mailtekst"])."
"; mail($ToEmail, $EmailSubject, $MESSAGE_BODY, $mailheader) or die ("Failure"); } mysql_query($query) or die("Nyhedsbrev udsendt med succes!

Tilbage"); } if ($query) { echo "Nyhedsbrev udsendt med succes!

"; echo "Tilbage"; } else { echo "Password ikke udfyldt eller opgivet forkert !!!"; } ?> This is ONLY woking for individual groups, when I want to email 2 or more groups I dont know what to do? I think I have to use arrays but I am not sure at all. Can someone help me here? hi, i'm trying to sort an array of associative arrays, based on one of the keys. if the value of the key is a primitive, normal sorting occurs - this works fine. if the value of the key is an array, i'd like to have it sorted by "groups" here's an example: Code: [Select] <?php $data[] = array('name' => 'h', 'list' => array(1,2)); $data[] = array('name' => 'g', 'list' => array(1)); $data[] = array('name' => 'a', 'list' => array(1,3)); $data[] = array('name' => 'f', 'list' => array(2)); $data[] = array('name' => 'e', 'list' => array(2,3)); $data[] = array('name' => 'b', 'list' => array(3)); $data[] = array('name' => 'c', 'list' => array(1,2,3,4)); $data[] = array('name' => 'd', 'list' => array(3,4)); function deep_sort($array, $sorton){ usort($array, function($a, $b) use($sorton) { $a = $a[$sorton]; $b = $b[$sorton]; if(is_array($a) && is_array($b)){ // this bit is obviously flawed - only included for illustrative purposes $a = implode('', $a); $b = implode('', $b); } return ($a == $b) ? 0 : ($a > $b) ? 1 : -1; }); return $array; } $sorted_by_name = deep_sort($data, 'name'); print '
'; print_r($sorted_by_name); print '
'; $sorted_by_list = deep_sort($data, 'list'); print '
'; print_r($sorted_by_list); print '
'; ?> the sorted_by_name bit is fine - but for sorted_by_list, what i want returned is all the array ordered as follows: all those with "1" (or the lowest if none have "1") in it's list value first, then all those remaining that have the next highest ("2"), etc. so right now, the returns for sort_by_list look like this: Code: [Select] Array ( [0] => Array ( [name] => g [list] => Array ( [0] => 1 ) ) [1] => Array ( [name] => f [list] => Array ( [0] => 2 ) ) [2] => Array ( [name] => b [list] => Array ( [0] => 3 ) ) [3] => Array ( [name] => h [list] => Array ( [0] => 1 [1] => 2 ) ) [4] => Array ( [name] => a [list] => Array ( [0] => 1 [1] => 3 ) ) [5] => Array ( [name] => e [list] => Array ( [0] => 2 [1] => 3 ) ) [6] => Array ( [name] => d [list] => Array ( [0] => 3 [1] => 4 ) ) [7] => Array ( [name] => c [list] => Array ( [0] => 1 [1] => 2 [2] => 3 [3] => 4 ) ) )whereas i'd like to get back: Code: [Select] Array ( [0] => Array ( [name] => g [list] => Array ( [0] => 1 ) ) [1] => Array ( [name] => h [list] => Array ( [0] => 1 [1] => 2 ) ) [2] => Array ( [name] => c [list] => Array ( [0] => 1 [1] => 2 [2] => 3 [3] => 4 ) ) [3] => Array ( [name] => a [list] => Array ( [0] => 1 [1] => 3 ) ) [4] => Array ( [name] => f [list] => Array ( [0] => 2 ) ) [5] => Array ( [name] => e [list] => Array ( [0] => 2 [1] => 3 ) ) [6] => Array ( [name] => b [list] => Array ( [0] => 3 ) ) [7] => Array ( [name] => d [list] => Array ( [0] => 3 [1] => 4 ) ) ) TYIA for any suggestions I have a PHP script that reads the image files in a folder and displays them for viewing. When originally tested with three images, it seemed to be displaying them in alphabetical order by name (as desired). Now, with more image files added, it is displaying the pictures in a seemingly random order. Can I use a SORT command similar to the method for organizing data from a database in my script (to organize the files by name)? |
