PHP - Installing Smarty

Hello all;
My site is at: http://www.designtoprint.com

The problem is that it looks great in everything but Internet Explorer.  In I.E., it's utterly broken.  I think this has a lot to do with the fact that the former developer who worked on it did everything in Smarty.  I'm wondering if there's a way to automate the process of recombining all the Smarty pages back into normal .php files.  Or barring that, if any of you smarter-than-me people know off the top of your heads why my site is breaking in I.E., but nothing else.

I am trying to take a calendar script and use it on my site that uses Smarty templates.  I have gotten all of it to work minus one spot!
I am having trouble trying to get the code below to output what I want in Smarty...
I have tried many things but to no avail!

Does anyone know how I can go about downloading a specific build of PHP on a Raspberry Pi running Raspbian?   I want to try to create a development/testing webserver using the Pi, but I want it to have the same versions of PHP and MySQL that are on my actual production server (which is shared hosting using a web host). So far, using apt-get, all it does is install the latest version available, which I don't want to do.  I want a specific version to closely imitate the actual production server.   Ideas?

how to install linux on a netbook without a dvd-drive.   i think about buying a new notebook

there are several ones that come up to mind.

question should i buy one without a dvd-drive?

there are many many out there - eg the ACER Aspire V3-371-36MA

but many of them do not have a dvd.

question: how can i install suse linux on this notebook

and how should / could i do an update.

well - do you reccomend to buy a notebook with

a. a dvd drive - is this mandantory
b. a notebook with more than 4 gb ram!?

I like to set up websites for people who don't have the know how to do it themselves, I mainly set them up wordpress sites cuz thats pretty easy for them to modify and maintain themselves. To save myself time, I decided to learn how to do it with Composer (what a brilliant tool that it). Can anyone who uses composer for this kinda thing, can you post your composer.json files here. Also, if anyone can show me a better way of doing things, it'd be much appreciated. Heres the one I made:

I think I'm doing this in a silly way though. I read about these composer installer things on github, but I didn't figure out how to use them so instead I used the installer-paths key to make the autoloader put the files in the right place. Heres a composer.json file I found which is better cuz it uses a post installation script:

I'm gonna start using these scripts once I figure out how to use them. Where are the scripts stored? I haven't a clue what this autoload thing is all about either, is it a tool for moving files into the appropriate directories? See how the first file gets wordpress from packagist, and the second one gets it from github. Is there a difference? If I was to add that post-install-cmd key to the first composer.json file, would it still work? In other words, do both repositories contain identical packages.

How to i make it show the info on my InvViewAdd .tpl page?   also if i put $inv = $i->showInv();

I have a serialized array stored in a database field in the following format:

Unserialized: '1' => '5000', '2' => '2000'
Serialized: a:2:{i:1;s:4:"5000";i:2;s:4:"2000";}

The key is a database ID and the value is just a number.
Next I have a table which stores some information about each ID

What I want to do is fetch the serialized values from database, unserialize them and then loop through them using the smarty template engine. The thing is that I want to include some more information, that fetched from the database, based on the KEY of the array.

I suck at explaining crazy stuff like this so I'll just provide some images and code to help out

What I want to do is add extra information, fetched from the database, to the table.

Currently all that's being displayed is the faction name, which is selected based on the array key, and the reputation value which is fetched from the array value. What I want to do is add the description column value to the table.

I am using X cart and I have tried add function that hide price until customers log in.

So why would one use a php template engine like smarty, other than to seperate the code from html?  Is this method preffered for creating larger web applications with php?
