PHP - Get Contents Of A Url And Show Only Specific Text
Hi All,
I am fairly new to PHP. I want to write some code that will get content from specific classes that are in a HTML page. I.e.
text 1

text2

text3
I want to just output text where class = description. How would i do this? Similar TutorialsHey i have created the code below attempting to show a specific members details when their username is entered and the submit button is pressed. but when i enter the username all members details are shown. The code i have used is shown below, can anybody help me with the code to just show the single users details. I have attached an image aswell. <?php mysql_connect ("localhost","root",""); mysql_select_db ("test"); $sql = "select * from memberdetails"; $result = mysql_query ($sql); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $username= $row["username"]; $firstname= $row["firstname"]; $surname= $row["surname"]; $dob= $row["dob"]; $totalwins= $row["totalwins"]; $totalloses= $row["totalloses"]; $email= $row["email"]; $country= $row["country"]; $info= $row["info"]; echo "Username: $username
"; echo "Firstname: $firstname
"; echo "Surname: $surname
"; echo "Date of Birth: $dob
"; echo "Total Chess Wins: $totalwins
"; echo "Total Chess loses: $totalloses
"; echo "Email Address: $email
"; echo "Born in: $country
"; echo "Other Details: $info
"; } ?> I have a form where people enter in values and I need these values displayed in the proper format. I need the output string to have a "<" at the beginning and a ">" at the end but whenever I put the code in to add the < in the beginning nothing shows up. Here is my code. I am able to get it to work with just adding the > at the end but it seems when I add "<" to the beginning this is where nothing shows up. Code: [Select] <?php $hairbald = trim($_POST['HairBald']); $eyes = trim($_POST['Eyes']); $test =$eyes.'.'.$hairbald; if(empty($test)) { $test = $test; } else $test = '<'.$test.'>'; ?> If the user selects blue eyes and bald head I need the output to be <blue.bald> Hello, i am coding a backend portal, this portal will have staff members lets call them 'M1' and each staff member will have a client 'C1' What is the best way to put this into a database? do i have a table for Staff? then a seperate table for Members? or one table consisting of staff, with the members details written into the staff's row? I need to find out how many times the "mac" key show is in an array. Code: [Select] Array ( [serial] => Robert [added] => Peter [mac] => 1232091823 [mac] => 7538572375 [mac] =>943820348239804 [place] =>home ) So, I'm trying to get this read my text document "news.txt" and display the contents. My code: Code: [Select] div.newscontent{ padding:0px; margin-top:60px; margin-bottom:0px; margin-left:400px; margin-right:0px; position:absolute; width:457px; height:330px; text-align:center; color:#FFFFFF; } Code: [Select]
<?PHP $filename = "news.txt"; $arr = file($filename); foreach($arr as $line){ print $line . "
"; } ?>
This is the output I get: Code: [Select] "; } ?> Whats wrong? I have a Php application that already has 2 buttons with input on the index page that perform some functions and output to different Php pages. Works good. How do I add a button with no input that would just perform a function and then just display a popup window showing the contents of a text file? I want to add several of these buttons for different functions and just display the contents of the resulting text files in popup windows. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Hello everyone, I have a website where users are able to send and receive messages. I am trying to devise a way that I can prevent abusive messages from being sent. The best way that I can think of to do this is to use a few key words that would likely be used in an abusive message (basically, any curse word). Does anyone have any ideas on how I can check the text before it is sent for certain key words? Thanks in advance for any help or ideas. ok, I am hoping the code is self explanatory... but if not, I'm creating a script which I will be using for something else. Basically it says if OS and browser show code under... I am looking for two things. 1. Is there a way to make it so that it can pull from a list and show that if HTTP_USER_AGENT comes back with a specific output, to say you are using X OS with Y browser? 2. The last bit, it is meant to say, if not any of the options show the info below. For some reason it's not doing that... can someone please tell me why? Thanks. Code: [Select] <?php //Operating Systems function xp(){return(eregi("Windows NT 5.1", $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']));} function vista(){return(eregi("Windows NT 6.0", $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']));} function win7(){return(eregi("Windows NT 6.1", $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']));} function ubuntu(){return(eregi("Ubuntu/", $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']));} //Web Browsers function chrome(){ return(eregi("Chrome/", $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']));} function safari(){ return(eregi("Safari/", $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']));} function firefox(){ return(eregi("Firefox/", $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']));} function ie9(){ return(eregi("MSIE 9.0", $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']));} function ie8(){ return(eregi("MSIE 8.0", $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']));} // do something if XP and Chrome if(xp() && chrome()){echo 'You are using Windows XP with a Chrome web Browser';} // do something if XP and IE8 if(xp() && ie8()){echo 'You are using Windows XP with a Internet Explorer 8 web Browser';} // do something if Windows 7 and IE9 if(win7() && ie9()){echo 'You are using Windows 7 with a Internet Explorer 9 web Browser';} // do something if Windows Vista and IE9 if(vista() && ie9()){echo 'You are using Windows Vista with a Internet Explorer 9 web Browser';} // do something if Windows Vista and IE8 if(vista() && ie8()){echo 'You are using Windows Vista with a Internet Explorer 8 web Browser';} // do something if Ubuntu and Firefox if(ubuntu() && firefox()){echo 'You are using Ubuntu with a Firefox web Browser';} if(!ubuntu() || !xp() || !vista() || !win7() || !firefox() || !chrome() || !safari() || !ie9() || !ie8()){ echo''; echo '
' . $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT'] . It will allow your browser/OS combination to be used correctly. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Please copy and paste the text above and send it to your web administrator. It will explain everything he/she needs to do.';} ?> Hello All, Please excuse my lack of knowledge in advance, I'm a beginner but pick things up relatively quickly, and tend to do things by trial and error. I would appreciate any help that anyone could offer with the following: I would like to retrieve two pieces of data from a "text file" and use them to calculate a result from a function I have in javascript. An example of the javascript code is: Currently this is evaluated with entry from a simple html form, but I would like to have this performed "automatically". The "text file" that I would like to access is here, not on my server: http://www.bom.gov.au/fwo/IDV60901/IDV60901.94870.axf I would like to extract the "air_temp" and "rel_hum" values under the [data] section for use in my function. I just need the "most recent" values (i.e. first), not all those contained in the file. This is a single record from that section (sorry for the mess this no doubt makes): [data] sort_order,wmo,name[80],history_product[80],local_date_time[80],local_date_time_full[80],aifstime_utc[80],air_temp,apparent_t,cloud[80],cloud_base_m,cloud_oktas,cloud_type[80],cloud_type_id,delta_t,dewpt,gust_kmh,gust_kt,lat,lon,press,press_msl,press_qnh,press_tend[80],rain_trace[80],rel_hum,sea_state[80],swell_dir_worded[80],swell_height,swell_period,vis_km[80],weather[80],wind_dir[80],wind_spd_kmh,wind_spd_kt 0,94870,"Moorabbin Airport","IDV60901","27/10:00pm","20120227220000","20120227110000",18.8,19.3,"Partly cloudy",510,3,"-",-9999,0.8,17.5,13,7,-38.0,145.1,1013.5,-9999.0,1013.5,"-","11.4",92,"-","-",-9999.0,-9999,"10","-","S",11,6 Would it be possible to obtain these values using PHP?, and if so any advice on how this could be done (noting my minimal knowledge) would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. The title says it all,..well as all u can see, there are many methods to accomplish this done but not before undergoing through a heavy tasking process. For instance, 1. Open the file 2. Reads the content of the file into array. 3. Find out the desire line of text that we want to replace. 4. Make that line of text as variable and assigns with the new data(that we want to replace) as its values. 5.open another file. 6.Write the whole contents to the file opened in 5. 7. Put the contents back to the file of original. Can anyone contributes a better way to get this done? Like replace/delete a specific line without affecting other characters or anything therein? Thanx. P.S reading and using str_replace to make the alteration always ends up in giving some kind of result beyond desired after the first round of code execution. I use the Wholesale Suite Premium Prices plugin with WooCommerce. I have 6 specific wholesale roles out of 15 that I wish to hide two specific shipping methods from being selected for the 6 exceptions. I'm just trying this on my staging server at this time using a code snippet example that I found and modified for my specific conditions. Would the following work for this purpose? /* Hide specific shipping methods for specific wholesale roles */ add_filter( 'woocommerce_package_rates', function( $shipping_rates ) { // User role and shipping method ID to hide for the user role $role_shipping_method_arr = array( 'ws_silvia_silver' => array( 'Silvia Premium Standard Shipping (Tracking Service)'), 'ws_silvia_silver_pst_exempt' => array( 'Silvia Premium Standard Shipping (Tracking Service)'), 'ws_silvia_silver_tax_exempt' => array( 'Silvia Premium Standard Shipping (Tracking Service)'), 'ws_silvia_silver' => array( 'Silvia Union Standard Shipping (Tracking Service)'), 'ws_silvia_silver_pst_exempt' => array( 'Silvia Union Standard Shipping (Tracking Service)'), 'ws_silvia_silver_tax_exempt' => array( 'Silvia Union Standard Shipping (Tracking Service)'), 'ws_silvia_gold' => array( 'Silvia Premium Standard Shipping (Tracking Service)'), 'ws_silvia_gold_pst_exempt' => array( 'Silvia Premium Standard Shipping (Tracking Service)'), 'ws_silvia_gold_tax_exempt' => array( 'Silvia Premium Standard Shipping (Tracking Service)'), 'ws_silvia_gold' => array( 'Silvia Union Standard Shipping (Tracking Service)'), 'ws_silvia_gold_pst_exempt' => array( 'Silvia Union Standard Shipping (Tracking Service)'), 'ws_silvia_gold_tax_exempt' => array( 'Silvia Union Standard Shipping (Tracking Service)'), ); // Getting the current user role $curr_user = wp_get_current_user(); $curr_user_data = get_userdata($current_user->ID); // Wholesale Suite Roles if (isset($current_user) && class_exists('WWP_Wholesale_Roles')) { $wwp_wholesale_roles = WWP_Wholesale_Roles::getInstance(); $wwp_wholesale_role = $wwp_wholesale_roles->getUserWholesaleRole(); // Loop through the user role and shipping method pair foreach( $role_shipping_method_arr as $role => $shipping_methods_to_hide ) { // Check if defined role exist in current user role or not if( in_array( $role, $current_user->roles) ) { // Loop through all the shipping rates foreach( $shipping_rates as $shipping_method_key => $shipping_method ) { $shipping_id = $shipping_method->get_id(); // Unset the shipping method if found if( in_array( $shipping_id, $shipping_methods_to_hide) ) { unset($shipping_rates[$shipping_method_key]); } } } } } return $shipping_rates; }); Any insights as to how to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated. Lyse Hi, I want to show part of the text from a page containing my article on my main page. The article resides in a database in mysql. How do I limit the amount of text that is shown without setting up a separate excerpt box for the article. I want to then provide a link so the user can go to another page that displays the entire article. Thanks for any suggestions.
Hi,

Hi Guys, I wonder if you can help me before I go crazy? I have the task of updating a site by adding text to every page, at the moment there are three pages on the live website that show both images and text, I am to update the remaining 6 with text to go with the images.... I thought this was all fine and dandy, added the text in, checked the code, uploaded to the FTP site and nothing, only 1 page worked. I am stuck as I have used the same method to add text to all the pages yet those elusive pages refuse to show text! This is driving me crazy and i am hoping that one of you guys has come across this before and will be able to highlight a missing piece of code or have a solution? I do appreciate your time and any suggestions that you have. I have attached the page below. Thanks guys! Hi there, Im working on my little project and I would appreciate your help. I have only basic knowledge of php, mostly I just copy some scripts that could be useful for me. Something like send the form to email, except I dont want to send it on email, but different webpage. Something like different way of eshop, where you get your order shipped to email, but I wanna send this information to webpage. Is there such a script like Im describing? I am displaying rows from a database onto a page using: while($row=mysql_fetch_array($query)){ echo $row['name']; } I need to figure out how to limit the rows shown to the page to 100. And if there are 100 rows on the page, a link will be displayed at the bottom, that says "Next 100". Then this will display the next 100 rows. Can you give an example how to do this please? Thanks |
