PHP - Function In A Mysql Array. Doh!
I hope I'm not being a vampire here sucking the life out of you guys, but I can't find any resources in google that explains how to properly use this function in a mysql array. All it does is add a url for any urls added in plaintext.
Code: --- <?php function hyperlink ($string) { $string = preg_replace('#(^|\s)([a-z]+://([^\s\w/]?[\w/])*)#is', '\\1<a href="\\2" target="_blank">\\2</a>', $string); $string = preg_replace('#(^|\s)((www|ftp)\.([^\s\w/]?[\w/])*)#is', '\\1<a href="http://\\2" target="_blank">\\2</a>', $string); $string = preg_replace('#(^|\s)(([a-z0-9._%+-]+)@(([.-]?[a-z0-9])*))#is', '\\1<a href="mailto:\\2">\\2</a>', $string); return $string; } // mysql connection $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM top_web_articles ORDER BY ID DESC"); echo "<table border='0'>"; while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo "<tr>"; echo "<td class='newstitle' align='left' valign='top' bgcolor='#D6D6D6'>".$row['Category']."</td></tr>"; echo "<td class='newstitle' align='left' valign='top' bgcolor='#D6D6D6'>". $row['ArticleName'] ."</td></tr>"; echo "<td class='newstitle' align='left' valign='top' bgcolor='#D6D6D6'>"hyperlink(. $row['ArticleDescription'] .);"</td></tr>"; echo "<tr><td class='newstitle' align='left' valign='top' bgcolor='#D6D6D6'><a href='". $row['URL'] . "' target='_blank'><img src='http://www.thenewsguys.ca/images/read entire article.png' alt='' width='130' height='11' border='0' /></a></td>"; echo "</tr>"; echo "<td align='left' valign='top'> </td>"; } echo "</table>"; mysql_close($con); ?> --- Error: "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting ',' or ';' in /home/doofyd5/public_html/trevor/playground/displayarticles.php on line 146" (Clearly an error where I'm abusing the heck out of the bolded line. Any ideas on how to properly code this? Similar TutorialsHere is my query: Code: [Select] $db->query("SELECT cache.*,u.username from search_cache cache LEFT Join users as u ON u.id = 'NEED HELP HERE' where ident = '{$username}' ORDER BY DATE DESC") or error('Unable to send the message.', __FILE__, __LINE__, $db->error()); Here is my data inside my search_cache Here is my while loop: Code: [Select] while($recent = $db->fetch_assoc($rec)){ $data = unserialize($recent['search_data']); } Now I can use $data['search_type'] as a array and If I use echo $data['search_type']['2'] it echo's out the user_id 32 as seen in the screenshot at the very end. Problem is, I want to use that 'NEED HELP HERE' to join with that id 32 dynamically, how the hell is that possible with mysql or is it? Or would it be easier to just add a new row/column named user_id and just join of that instead of trying to do all this? would that be faster? Okay, this is getting on my nerves now, my head is throbbing probably just need a break from it all now. Basically I have two tables, one with listings and another with categories. In the listings table I have a column called shortdescription. I am trying to pull the shortdescription from the listings table with the query $shortdesc = array_shift(mysql_fetch_row(mysql_query("select shortdescription from links where category = '".$scat->id."' "))); The shortdecription display properly on the pages display the listings, however I am getting the following error on any pages that only display the parent categories Warning: array_shift() [function.array-shift]: The argument should be an array in /home/...path/file.php on line 1462 The listings id numbers begin at 75+ because the initial parent category id ends at 74. The query seems to be searching for listing ids below 75 and spitting out an error because it is not finding them. Any ideas on how to eliminate this error and/or stop the query from looking for non-existant data? How can i save array from inputs, witch is $igraci and it have 5 values, to mysql base, i tryed but in mysql it shows Array. This is form: <form action="dodaj_klan.php" method="post" > <p> <label>Naziv klana:</label> <input name="naziv" type="text" size="20%" /> <label>Web Sajt:</label> <input name="website" type="text" size="20%" /> <label>E-Mail:</label> <input name="email" type="text" size="20%" /> <br /><br /> <label>Igraci klana(5):</label> <input name="lider" type="radio" value="1" /> <input name="igraci[]" type="text" size="20%" /><br /> <input name="lider" type="radio" value="2" /> <input name="igraci[]" type="text" size="20%" /><br /> <input name="lider" type="radio" value="3" /> <input name="igraci[]" type="text" size="20%" /><br /> <input name="lider" type="radio" value="4" /> <input name="igraci[]" type="text" size="20%" /><br /> <input name="lider" type="radio" value="5" /> <input name="igraci[]" type="text" size="20%" /> <label><i>(obelezi lidera klana)</i></label> <br /><br /> <input class="button" type="submit" name="submit" value="Dodaj" /> </p> </form> Now i wonna save this igraci[] array in mysql, i tried like this but it doesn't work: $igraci = $_POST['igraci']; $query = "INSERT INTO klanovi (naziv, website, email, igraci) VALUES ('{$naziv}', '{$website}', '{$email}', '{$igraci}')"; $result = mysql_query($query, $connection); How can i do this? Thanks.. I want to define a function instead of repeating query in all my php pages. I call a function by passing an $id value and from that function i have to get all the info related to that id, like name, description and uom.
I am trying to do this, but i dont know how to get these values seperately.
here is my function
function items($item_id) { $details = array(); $result = mysql_query("select item_id, name, uom, description from items where item_id=".$item_id."") or die (mysql_error()); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $details[] = array((stripslashes($row['name'])), (stripslashes($row['uom'])), (stripslashes($row['description']))); } return $details; }and i call my function like this $info = items($id);Can somebody guide me in this So I'm querying my database to add the results (mapID's) into a PHP array. The MySQL query I used in the below code would usually return 10 values (only 10 mapID's in the database) Code: [Select] while($data = mysql_fetch_array(mysql_query("SELECT mapID FROM maps"))){ $sqlsearchdata[] = $data['mapID']; } Instead the page takes ages to load then gives this error: Quote Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 16 bytes) It says the error begins on the first line of the above code. I'm assuming this is not the right way to add the value from the MySQL array into a normal PHP array. Can anyone help me? Hello everyone, Sorry if this has been answered but if it has I can't find it anywhere. So, from the begining then. Lets say I had a member table and in it I wanted to store what their top 3 interests are. Their$ row has all the usual things to identify them userID and password etc.. and I had a further 3 columns which were labled top3_1 top3_2 & top3_3 to put each of their interests in from a post form. If instead I wanted to store this data as a PHP Array instead (using 1 column instead of 3) is there a way to store it as readable data when you open the PHPmyadmin? At the moment all it says is array and when I call it back to the browser (say on a page where they could review and update their interests) it displays 'a' as top3_01 'r' as top3_02 and 'r' as top3_03 (in each putting what would be 'array' as it appears in the table if there were 5 results. Does anyone know what I mean? For example - If we had a form which collected the top 3 interests to put in a table called users, Code: [Select] <form action="back_to_same_page_for_processing.php" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <input name="top3_01" type="text" value="enter interest number 1 here" /> <input name="top3_02" type="text" value="enter interest number 2 here" /> <input name="top3_03" type="text" value="enter interest number 3 here" /> <input type="submit" name="update_button" value=" Save and Update! " /> </form> // If my quick code example for this form is not correct dont worry its not the point im getting at :) And they put 'bowling' in top3_01, 'running' in top3_02 and 'diving' in top3_03 and we catch that on the same page with some PHP at the top --> Code: [Select] if (isset($_POST)['update_button']) { $top3_01 = $_POST['top3_01']; // i.e, 'bowling' changing POST vars to local vars $top3_02 = $_POST['top3_02']; // i.e, 'running' $top3_03 = $_POST['top3_03']; // i.e, 'diving' With me so far? If I had a table which had 3 columns (1 for each interest) I could put something like - Code: [Select] include('connect_msql.php'); mysql_query("Select * FROM users WHERE id='$id' AND blah blah blah"); mysql_query("UPDATE users SET top3_01='$top3_01', top3_02='$top3_02', top3_03='$top3_03' WHERE id='$id'"); And hopefully if ive got it right, it will put them each in their own little column. Easy enough huh? But heres the thing, I want to put all these into an array to be stored in the 1 column (say called 'top3') and whats more have them clearly readable in PHPmyadmin and editable from there yet still be able to be called back an rendered on page when requested. Continuing the example then, assuming ive changed the table for the 'top3' column instead of individual colums, I could put something like this - Code: [Select] if (isset($_POST)['update_button']) { $top3_01 = $_POST['top3_01']; // i.e, 'bowling' changing POST vars to local vars $top3_02 = $_POST['top3_02']; // i.e, 'running' $top3_03 = $_POST['top3_03']; // i.e, 'diving' $top3_array = array($top3_01,$top3_02,$top3_03); include('connect_msql.php'); mysql_query("UPDATE members SET top3='$top3_array' WHERE id='$id' AND blah blah blah"); But it will appear in the column as 'Array' and when its called for using a query it will render the literal string. a r r in each field instead. Now I know you can use the 'serialize()' & 'unserialize()' funtcions but it makes the entry in the database practically unreadable. Is there a way to make it readable and editable without having to create a content management system? If so please let me know and I'll be your friend forever, lol, ok maybe not but I'd really appreciate the help anyways. The other thing is, If you can do this or something like it, how am I to add entries to that array to go back into the data base? I hope ive explained myself enough here, but if not say so and I'll have another go. Thanks very much people, L-PLate (P.s if I sort this out on my own ill post it all here) hi Code: [Select] function livre($form_data_array['ensino']) { } this code give me a syntax error, why? what is the correct way? thanks I've written the code to generate letter and number ranges: public function generateRange($type = 'numbers', $start = 0, $end = 10) { $rangelist = array(); switch($type) { case 'upper letters': { foreach(range($start, $end) as $letter) { $rangelist[] = $letter; } } case 'lower letters': { foreach(range($start, $end) as $letter) { $rangelist[] = $letter; } } case 'numbers': { foreach(range($start, $end) as $number) { $rangelist[] = $number; } } default: { return false; } return $rangelist; } } It current doesn't seem to return the array result correctly currently. If I change the line "$rangelist[] = $number;" to "echo $number;" it does print the correct data. Any ideas on why the array return line isn't working correctly? Hi guys really need some help. i have got this function. I am learning codeignitor. function uploadify() { $file = $this->input->post('filearray'); $data['json'] = json_decode($file); print_r($data); $name = $json->{'file_name'}; $this->files->add($name); $this->load->view('uploadify',$data); } this is the result i get from the print_r(). Array ( [json] => stdClass Object ( [file_name] => footer-icpn229.jpg [real_name] => footer-icpn2.jpg [file_ext] => .jpg [file_size] => 1.75 [file_path] => /home/codeig/public_html/files/footer-icpn229.jpg [file_temp] => /home/codeig/tmp/phpSupCpi ) ) What i am trying to do is pull the value filename out off the array and pass it into another vairable in the fucntion which is what i am trying to do with these two lines of code. $name = $json->{'file_name'}; $this->files->add($name); I keep getting this error what am i doing wrong? Undefined variable: json Hi im having some trouble when i try to add values to an array from a function. The added value will not stay saved. fun1 will display both firstname and surname but when i call fun2 after calling fun1 i just get the firstname. I would like to have it so the array is updated and stays updated untill it is cleared or over written. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. i am using codeigniter if that makes any difference. Thanks <?php class Test extends Controller { var $data1 = array( 'firstname' => 'craig' ); function fun1() { global $data1; $this->data1['surname'] = 'brute'; echo "<pre>"; print_r($this->data1); } function fun2() { global $data1; echo "<pre>"; print_r($this->data1); } } Hi,Dear Frnds...........................I Hope U r all fine. I am using php.Here is the problem in the Return array from function. This is the code. Code: [Select] <?php $store = array(); $test = get_my_links(); print_r($store); function get_my_links() { $my_array = array('e','f','g'); foreach($my_array as $key=> $list) { $store[] = $list; } return $store; } ?> Suppose the array is maked dynamically. please help me..THANKS... In my main script I set $errorArray with values when required survey questions go unanswered. The ne code that checks for missing required values is working perfectly, and right before I pass $errorArray to a function which rebuilds the survey questions - this time with the error messages - I do a var_dump($errorArray) and that array has errors in it as expected. But while my function that re-builds the survey questions gets called and does indeed re-build the survey questions, the $errorArray isn't getting pased for some strange reason? (I'm not sure if i have ever passed an array to a function before.) In my function I have... function generateSurveyItem($dbc, $questionNo, $questionID, $surveyResponseArray=NULL, $errorArray=NULL){ }
When I var_dump($errorArray) at the top of the function, and submit a blank form, I end up with a blank page and a file path to my PHP script ending with... /public_html/utilities/function.php:3010:null
Questions: 1.) What is happening?
2.) I thought =NULL in the parameter list just meant that the argument is "optional"?
3.) I am able to successfully pass $surveyResponseArray to this function, so what is up with $errorArray?
P.S. When I run things, and submit an empty form - thus no "required" fields get completed - the survey gets re-displays, and any values chosen are "sticky", but my error messages should also be displayed to let the user know what is mising, and that is the part that isn't working? This has to be something silly stupid to fix... Edited February 16 by SaranacLake I'm working on a Wordpress theme, and I'm assigning my own image to the navi list. So far assigning the image to the corresponding works if I type in the path manually, but the only problem I'm experiencing is assigning the correct path to the image with a Wordpress specific function, here's the code: <div id='nav' class='link_var_4'> <div id='blog_navi'><?php wp_nav_menu(array( "link_before" => "<li><img src='" . bloginfo ('template_directory') . I've tried different variations and methods, none of them gave the expected results. For those who don't know Wordpress, normally in Wordpress you'd do it like this: <a href="<?php bloginfo('url'); ?>" title="<?php bloginfo('description'); ?>"><img src="<?php bloginfo ('template_directory'); ?>/images/logo.png" alt="<?php bloginfo('description'); ?>" /></a> Hey Guys, I am hoping you can help me find out why a function of mine is only returning 1 record when I am asking for 10. Thanks, Dan Hello PHPFreaks. I have one problem, that I've tried to fix for a day or two now. I need a function, that picks out a random row in a table, and returns one thing. I tried with, getting the max rows in the table, make a random number in the interval 0 to max rows, then select the random number, but it failed. I hope someone can help me out with this one? -Niixie This is my code, and I know it's pretty messy, because i fooled around with it for a day or two, so it's hard to find head or tail in it. I have called this db_openConnection() Now for each function that requires a select from a database is it ok just to call the db_OpenConnection() first within the function or should i be keeping open a db connection (using persist, i think) rather than keep creating a connection. I know that the connection ends when you have finished a query any how. Not sure if this is the correct forum or if it should be mysql forum I'm pretty sure there isn't, but I was wondering if there was a php function that would return partial matches similar to MySQL's LIKE, I've been searching for a while and haven't found one. If not, is there a class or something that someone knows of that will accomplish a like of search or a string comparison? I want to be able to compare two variables and return one of three results - Exact Match, Partial Match, No Match. I suppose regex may do the trick but I'm a complete novice when it comes to regex and I have no idea where to even begin. Thanks for any suggestions. |
