PHP - Help With Php While Loop With Input Text Boxes
Hello,
I have a script that displays that uses a while loop in php to display all of the records. For each record, I added an input text box with a button to update one of the fields in the record set. When I run the script only the first listing will update and the subsequent listings on the page will not update. Should I go about this set up differently? I really appreciate all the help. B Short question: How can I get a string of HTML code and replace all the <input> tags with their values? Long question: I have a web page with a purchase order on it in HTML format and one or more of the columns is editable via input boxes. So the user can change the quantity/length of the material before submitting it. Once they choose to save it, it sends the string of HTML to a PDF generator (DOMPDF) which converts the HTML to a PDF file and saves it to the server. The user then has a hard copy of the purchase order PDF saved for each job. The problem is DOMPDF doesn't do well with <input> tags, it just leaves them as a blank space. So I want to take that string of HTML and replace all input boxes with their values before sending it to DOMPDF. Currently I'm using Javascript to do just that when the user clicks to save the modified purchase order. The problem with this is it only works for when the user modifies the purchase order and saves a new modified copy. I need to save a base unmodified copy of it when the page loads so this would strip all the input boxes from the page as soon as it loads and the user would no longer be able to edit anything. So I need something to send the string to DOMPDF when the page loads but not modify what's on the page. Any ideas? Thanks. Hello people. There are three main tasks that it needs to do: 1. Directory.php(index page) has a "First Name" and "Last Name" field and a search button. When a name is searched from the directory.txt file, it displays First Name, Last Name, Address, City, State, Zip and phone in findinfo.php in designated text boxes...first name, last name, etc. 2. From the findinfo.php, like previously stated, the users information is listed in the appropriate text boxes. From there, there is an update button that will overwrite the user's information to directory.txt if that button is selected. It will then say the write was sucessful. 3. (completed this step) From the index page, there is a link that will take you to addnew.php where you enter First Name, Last Name, Address, City, State, Zip and phone in a web form and write it to directory.txt. I am totally stumped and not sure which function to use. Should I work my way from step 1 to step 2? I see it as when I do the search for the name from directory.php, it takes me to findinfo.php, listing the users information in the text boxes. From there, if I needed to, having the user's information already listed I could hit the update button to overwrite the new information to directory.txt. Doing the update when then tell me that the write was successful. I have literally been scouring the internet for hours. What would be the best function to do this? I hope I was clear enough. My problem is when i use multiple of those input boxes and submit the form the $_FILES variable only reads 1 of those boxes.. Is there a way to easily (and dynamically) display the same number of Text-Boxes as the # of Attendees entered? For example, let's say the Customer (payor) wants to buy Tickets for herself and 5 friends to a Banjo Festival. Right now, I just have a drop-down box to capture the head-count, but it would be nice to have 5 Text-Boxes (or something appear) so that the Customer can easily type in the Names of the 5 Attendees *without* having to suffer numerous other clicks and/or screens. Follow me? Is there a way to do that? Thanks, Debbie I'm trying to figure out how to do something. I have two tables for use in a quiz program--one table for questions and one table for answers. I'm thinking about looping through all the questions, one at a time, and all the answers that correspond to the given question, echoing the form: the radio buttons and the submit button, and have the program pause to wait for the submit button to be clicked before looping to the next question/answer set. I'm assuming I'll need to make two queries, one for the Questions table, and one for the Answers table, incrementing the QuestionID with each loop (or randomizing them and marking them as asked so the same question doesn't come up multiple times), processing the answers before the next loop, etc. 1. Is this possible? 2. Is this a good approach? 3. Where would I look to learn how to do all this? I don't have any code to show because I haven't yet written anything about this. I'm still thinking about how I would do it. I have to learn about randomizing, and about nested queries, and about a few other things. I'm just tossing this "out there" for some ideas. Thanks to all. Eg.: there are 5 checkboxes (XS, S, M, L, XL) and 5 textboxes (with values 3,4,5,6,8) that correspond to the checkboxes. I give all the checkboxes the name 'size[]' and the textboxes the name 'price[]'. The aim is to have my script set a boolean to true and update the corresponding price if the checkbox is selected. Unfortunately it does not work this way: checkboxes are only put in the array when they are selected, meaning that if I select only checkbox S and L, the array length is 2 only, but array length price is always 5, so size[1] does not correspond to price[1] necessarily. There probably is a better way to achieve what I need. Could anyone point me in the right direction? edit: BTW the number of items is dynamic: sometimes there will also be XXL or some items will be missing and I also need to set the price for items where the checkbox is not checked. I have a great interest in programming and I started learning php, mysql, html css and jscript, to develop a timesheet application for the company. The web application was created and successully implemented in April this year...! However, all these are purely 'self learning', and it has its own downsides as well. This was just a small intro..., let me come to what i request help on. This is for further development of the application.
I have a page to edit the 'utilization' rate of each employee, based on their designations. So the page has all the designations listed as <labels>, next to which a textbox, for the user to fill in the utilization rate. Scenario is that the user will not save each designation's utilization rate immediately after filling it. User will keep going till he fills the last item and then hit the submit button to save. Now, in php I can get all the values from the Request Array. But, how will I know which designations these values belong to? So, what i have as a solution is to name the textboxes with the designation_ids as suffix. May be like;
utilTextbox_1, utilTextbox_2, utilTextbox_3 etc...
Then when the form is submitted;
Check each Request Array element to see if its name starts with 'utilTextbox'
If Yes, split it using '_' to get the designation_id
Update the db table with the value of the text box
Check the next Array Element.....and so on...
is this the correct method or is there a better way of doing this?

In a simple text field in a form.... the browser automatically offers a list, when either when you click in or start typing in the field, of previous entries. My question is: Does anyone know how to control this? Is it possible to give a list of values to the browser, sort of like a ajax search, but all sent before. For example; in one field the user must enter a name, i want the text box to offer name possibilities even before the user has entered any on the form previously... sort of combining the <text> with a <select> menu... with all the name possibilities coming from a mysql table |
