PHP - Count() Issues

In this way, I get list with categories and hes subcategories. How to count how many subcategories have each categories, and count how many articles have each categories?

Example (I wanna get this kind of look):

For some reason I keep getting a result of 1. Everything else I try gives me a "Resource ID" number. Any help would be apprecaited. Maybe I have the completely wrong code. Thanks!

Hello,   I am trying to get the report of my sales table. I want to get total number of leads for each month. And then i have to use this data to create graph using google graph.    But i am not getting how eactly i can get this.   Here is my code

Hello, I'm using the following code to count the amount of SQL results and divide it. Works great as is but I want to alter it so it works with categories.

I tried adding...

WHERE car_cat = '".$cat."'

which causes an error.

Why doesn't this work, and how can I get the amount of results as a variable?

How to write this in a shorter way?

I've got a set of results and I need to check them against another database results. If they both are similar then I want to make it as "1" (points). The questions and the answers are in the same order (Question1, Question2, Question3 = Answer1, Answer2, Answer3). sa I guess the maching could be done using a set of arrays.

E.g.
get records from db1 get records from db2
get records from dbY get records from dbX
COUNT the matching data from db1 against dbY = echo TOTAL_SCORE1
COUNT the matching data from db2 against dbX = echo TOTAL_SCORE2

I've managed to get the data from the databases in order. But i need to get the COUNT of the MATCHING records.

I want the user to be able to go to one page and hit a button, once he hits the butten I want a count down to start from 10 minutes. When the user goes to the page within those 10 minutes, I want it to show him a live countdown until those ten minutes run out.

I've built a few amateur sites in the past but am keen to utilize php combined with mysql for my current project.  However, I have little knowledge of php and am just picking it up as I go (same way I've done for all my computer knowledge)

What I'm looking for may sound simple, but I really don't know where to start and I'm hoping there are some kind souls here that will lend a hand.  I've got some fantastic help here before and am hoping I'll get lucky again.

If I hard code everything around it, I'm just looking for the code I would need to have it display as follows: (hard coded text in blue)

"New York has been used * times." 
(Where * would count the number of times "New York" appears in the venue column of the database.)
"The most consecutive times New York has been used is % ." 
(Where % would count the maximum number of consecutive times "New York" appears in the venue column of the database.)

Giving the output:
New York has been used 6 times.
The most consecutive times New York has been used is 3.

I have the following code and I would like to count the number of times that the word has been replaced.
I tried echo count ($replacement) and echo count ($match) but both only show "1". I want to be able to tell if there has been a replacement and send a warning email and/or add a flag in the db.

I want to get the COUNT if any of these fields (Fielda, Fieldb, Fieldc, Fieldd, Fielde, Fieldf, Fieldg, Fieldh) contain the word "Banned". But this code doesn't work.

Hi,

I'm new to the forum, I have a slight issue with my script.

Basically, I need to figure out a script that will allow me to do the following:

- The user defines x amount of ours to count down (ie. 16 hours, 8 hours, 4 hours)
- The script then starts the count down of the x hours
- I need the script to count between 08:00 - 20:00 after 20:00 it needs to stop, then start again at 08:00
- The script also need to stop throughout the weekend (ie counts until 20:00 on friday, stops saturday & sunday, then starts 08:00 on monday)

Can this be done? If so, any pointers or help?
