I know file_exists() works for you local files. I think i need to use something like the following. BUT if the file is not found PHP throws a warning. I know i can put a '@' before fopen() but that just masks the error. Code: [Select] <?php if(fopen("http://www.othersite.com/imageXYZ.jpg", "r")) { echo "File exists."; } else { echo "File does not exist."; } ?> Ok, here's my code: How do i make it so that it outputs a maximum of only 5 results from the query where the img file exists. When I add LIMIT to the sql query it doesnt work so I guess its something else, but I have no clue. Can anyone help? $query = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM table WHERE date >= '$now' ORDER BY max(date) desc"); while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($query)) { $cid = $row['cat_id']; $title = $row['name']; $seoname = $row['seourl']; $img = 'images/'.$seoname.'.jpg'; if (!file_exists($img)) { $img = ''; } else { $img = 'images/'.$seoname.'.jpg'; } if (!empty($img)) { echo '<a href="images/'.$seoname.'/"><img src="'.$img .'" style="width:528px;" alt="" /></a>' . "\n"; } } Thanks. Hi Guys, I'm using the following code to write emails to a .txt file: // Write the email to file $leadsFile = "leads/emails.txt"; $fh = fopen($leadsFile, 'a') or die ("can't open leads file!"); $writeData = "$conEM\r\n"; fwrite($fh, $writeData); fclose($fh); which works great, but i can't figure out how to NOT write an email to the .txt file if it's already on it, i'm not using a database for a change i'm stumped lol thanks for any help guys Graham Hello Pros... I have come across couple of similar answers for my question in this form, but could not solve my exact problem. Therefore I am posting this he I have an xml file as shown below: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <document> <user> <user_id>0121</user_id> <name>Tim</name> <file>0121.file</file> </user> <user> <user_id>0178</user_id> <name>Henry</name> <file>0178.file</file> </user> <user> <user_id>0786</user_id> <name>Martin</name> <file>0786.file</file> </user> <user> <user_id>1239</user_id> <name>Jan</name> <file>1239.file</file> </user> </document> I ask the user to input his user_id and post this user_id and perform a check on the entire xml file to check whether the entered user_id exists in the xml file or not. If exists then I go further if not echo a error message. Can anybody pull me out of this? Thanks I need to check (from a Debian server to a Mac CLIENT (not server) machine) to see if a file exists on the file system...not an http server. Here's what I've tried (based on reading at http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.ssh2-exec.php) Code: [Select] <?php function check_remote_files($username, $hostname, $remote_file) { $connection = ssh2_connect($hostname, 22, array('hostkey'=>'ssh-rsa')); if (ssh2_auth_pubkey_file($connection, $username, '/root/.ssh/id_rsa.pub', '/root/.ssh/id_rsa', '')) { echo "Public Key Authentication On Server #2 Successful\n"; } $url = "if ssh $hostname stat $remote_file \> /dev/null 2\>\&1"; $stream=ssh2_exec($connection,$url); stream_set_blocking( $stream, true ); $cmd=fread($stream,4096); fclose($stream); $stream=ssh2_exec($connection,"then"); stream_set_blocking( $stream, true ); $cmd=fread($stream,4096); fclose($stream); $stream=ssh2_exec($connection,"echo File exists"); stream_set_blocking( $stream, true ); $cmd=fread($stream,4096); fclose($stream); $stream=ssh2_exec($connection,"else"); stream_set_blocking( $stream, true ); $cmd=fread($stream,4096); fclose($stream); $stream=ssh2_exec($connection,"echo Not found"); stream_set_blocking( $stream, true ); $cmd=fread($stream,4096); fclose($stream); $stream=ssh2_exec($connection,"fi"); stream_set_blocking( $stream, true ); $cmd=fread($stream,4096); fclose($stream); } ?> NOTHING happens after the echo of Public Key Authentication On Server #2 Successful. I'm running this script from a bash shell. Any ideas what might be wrong? Thanks. I got this but when I go to accept the application and the member exists in the table it enters it anyway... Code: [Select] <?php $member=$_POST['memberid']; $status=$_POST['Status']; $con = mysql_connect("host","user","pass"); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("a2186214_hbclan",$con); $sql="UPDATE application SET Status = '$status' WHERE ID = '$member'"; $sql1="INSERT INTO table_members(name) SELECT application.Name FROM application WHERE application.ID = '$member'"; if ($status == 'ACCEPTED') { if(mysql_num_rows(mysql_query("SELECT name FROM table_members WHERE name = '$member'"))) { if(mysql_query($sql, $con) or die(mysql_error())) { echo 'Status Changed.<br /><a href="../applications.php">Return To Members List</a>'; } else { die('Could not submit: ' . mysql_error()); } } else { if(mysql_query($sql, $con) or die(mysql_error())) { if(mysql_query($sql1, $con) or die(mysql_error())) { echo 'Status Changed.<br /><a href="../applications.php">Return To Members List</a>'; } } else { die('Could not submit: ' . mysql_error()); } } } else { if(mysql_query($sql, $con) or die(mysql_error())) { echo 'Status Changed.<br /><a href="../applications.php">Return To Members List</a>'; } else { die('Could not submit: ' . mysql_error()); } } mysql_close($con); ?> I run a dev site locally on Windows and the real site on a hosting provider on LINUX. PHP5, XAMP, etc. Locally my fopen works. On the web server it throws an error: "Warning: fopen() [function.fopen]: Unable to access" filepath/name The file exists on both servers; upper/lower case is correct; so are access rights. I noticed the error only today; this was working for the last 7 months; the function serves a range of content-types; just tested XLS and it works. Now I am stuck This line throws the error: $handle = fopen($strPathFileName, 'rb'); $strPathFileName uses / only Any pointers appreciated... thanks.
