PHP - Display Latest 10 Results On Search Page Before Searching

Hi all,

I need your help as I have got a problem with display the 50 rows in the search results. I want to limit 50 rows in per page and if I have less than 50 rows like 21 rows in the page 2 then display the 21 rows.

I have got a problem with the limit, because when I tried to use `LIMIT 0, 50`, it will display total 71 rows which I only want to display no more than 50 in per page.

Here is what I have tried:

It will not limit the rows I want. It will still show the 71 rows.

I am unable to fetch the first 50 rows in the page 1 and I am also unable to fetch the 21 rows in the page 2. 

What I am trying to achieve is when I am in page 1, I want to display the first 50 rows, then in the page 2 if I have another 50 rows then display the 50 rows, but if I have less than 50 rows like 21 rows then display the 21 rows.

Can you please show me an example how I can start with first 50 rows when I am in the page 1 then in page 2 display 21 rows to make in total 71 rows?

Any advice would be much appreicated.

Hi I'm new to the site...  and new to PHP, so excuse me if my verbiage isn't quite right.  I've been struggling to find a solution to paging through my search results.  MY code works for the first five entries that are found via the mysql query but when I click next five results, the code breaks down and sends me back to my index.  I believe the problem is he

I would like to modify my php script where my PDF search results would not only display the company name, the country, but also display a limit number link by pages so that not all of the results are shown. 
 
I also want the first word searched to go to the first occurrence of the word on the PDF document.
 
What would be the best way to do this?

Right now I just cheated and sorted by descending then put like thirty <br />'s so you couldn't see old ones. How can I do this properly?

I have a website which displays products on product display pages and static pages such as 'contact us'.  I am now looking to add a search function which directs to the display page so the products are neatly presented.  However, all the tutorials I can find are based on displaying the echo on same page as the search and directing the search to another page.

Does anyone know how to do this?

i basically have a php search form on a property website, and depending on what area/type of property/number of bedrooms and price range the search form should bring up results based on that. at the moment it just bring up everything. how would i make it bring up the correct results depending on the search made?

Hello,

I'm developing a website that asks the user to submit a keyword for a search. The results should display matches for this keyword, but also show matches for related keywords (in order of relevenace!).

I'm planning on building up a library of which search terms users use in the same sessions (e.g. if someone searches for "it jobs" and "php jobs", I'll know the terms are correlated), and I'll also measure the click-through rates of the items on the results list.

I've been spending all weekend trying to map out the design for this but it's proving incredibly complicated and I think the solution is likely to be on the internet somewhere already?!

Please could someone point me in the right direction if you've come accross this problem before?

Hello.  I have been following a great tutorial that I found here regarding searching a database:

I was very happy to find and implement this as I have been looking to understand this for some time now.  When I used this and ran it from my server (doing a search of the database), I bookmarked the page; my question relates to the next step: When I return to the page via the bookmark the actual search has been saved and is displayed, not just the search form. I do not understand this.

This is the search page as noted (search term is "kim"):

I'm trying to do something that I thought was very simple about 2 weeks ago :-(
I want to put a form on my site and link it to a database so when a user types a surname into the form they can search the db and the page will only display the surnames that match the search criteria. I got the db set up using phpmyadmin in about 2 minutes flat, but keep getting error messages when I write the php. I'm currently working with the below script, which keeps giving me the error 'unexpected T_string' on line 176

I've searched every forum and help site I can find, and the mysql and php manuals are just mind-boggling. I'm sure I'm making some really amateur mistake, but I'd really appreciate help with this!

Hi there,

I have updated a webpage and it appears that some users are still seeing the older version of the page. Is there a way I can force the user's version of the page to display the latest content on the page?

I have see I can add some meta tags which control the cache, but my site relies quite heavily on cookies, so I guess clearing the cache would reset/have an effect on the cookies?

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can make users always see the latest content?

I have it working so far so good, but the last part I can't seem to get working. I have it so all the products that have the desired category are displayed, but I want a more detailed analysis of the product to appear when the image is clicked, which at the moment, displays a blank page.
