PHP - Click On Record To Open Another Page With Full Details

Hello.  I just created a product gallery containing thumbnails of items that I will be selling.

When a user click on on of the thumbnails, I want a product details page to appear with more details about the chosen product

Could use some feedback if I am going about things the right way...

Step 1: User goes to my gallery located he   www.mysite.com/store/product-gallery.php

Step 2: System displays a page of thumbnails representing items that I am selling.

Step 3: User click on a given thumbnail which is a hyperlink to:  www.mysite.com/store/products/4571

Step 4: System rewrites the URL as such:  www.mysite.com/store/products.php?sku=4571

Step 5: System queries MySQL and retrieves record for sku 4571

Step 6: System displays product details for the chosen item in Step 3 which is sku 4571

 

How does that sound?

I would like to display my master details page links to the details pages in three columns rather than a single column.

I am stuck. I have used dreamweaver to create a master details page with links to the details page successfully, but I would like to display the master details page results in 3 columns rather than the 1 column that dreamweaver defaults. As the site becomes richer the content will increase yielding many results, therfore the content displayed in a single column will require the users to scroll way down the page.

So, as it is now the results display as follows:

Plant1
Plant2
Plant3
Plant4
Plant5
Plant6
Plant7
Plant8
Plant9
etc...

I would like them to display as follows:
Plant1        Plant4        Plant7

Could someone help me to write this code, as I have been unsuccessful maintaining the links. I have been able get the results to display in the columsn as I would like, but I haven't been able to figure it out while maintaining the links!

i would like a read more button...

So it will go around index.php?news=$idfullstory (something like that)

and on that page it will automatically show the full story etc..

Just a bit confused, so can someone break it down or even better point me in the right direction please?

Hello all.

I am using an API from jambase.com to display events on a php page. Everything works great, the xml file is read and the data is displayed on the page as it should. My only problem is that when the data is displayed there is always a blank area where the first record of data should go. Any ideas how to get rid of this?

Can someoneplease help, I need to setup an error page like IF Username and Password are wrong then show an error also if there is no username or password in the fields and I just click LOGIN, I get a blank page?!

What is the best way to display the next record on a web page, from a list of records, without executing the query over and over again each time you display the next record?

For example, imagine my user has a list of messages displayed on a web page, and the user filters that list to display all messages with the title "Test", and let's say that returns 12 records.

He then clicks on record 1 to read that message. Once he is done reading it, he then wants to read msg 2, and then msg 3 etc.

He could hit the Back button in his browser and click on the next record from the list, but it would be more useful to just click on a link that says "Next" which displays the next message in the filtered list of messages (without having to go back to the list).

A lot of web sites do this sort of thing, but what is the best way to do it? Do you have to run the original query again each time a new message is loaded, so you know which message is next, or can you somehow store the query to save the server from having to run the same query over and over again?

If a user is viewing a list of pictures for example, they could be flicking through the pictures quite quickly, and I would not like to have the server running the same query over and over again every few seconds when it doesn't need to.

Is it because when I click to next page , the $groupnumber  is no longer getting the data from $_GET['id'] ?

I want to add a note field and a checkbox to my list/grid page and save this information to a json file using uomptrucknumber as the key. The note information will be information for the whole truck not by order. The check box will let them know that the truck is ready to have paper work printed.

I have not add the note field or checkbox because I did not want to start off wrong.

Hi there again all
I am making a site that has a popout music player. My question is since the player is opened by javascript is there a way to let the original page know that the popout is open?

Every other time a user/users click on a link I want the link to change to a different url the next time a user clicks onto that link.   For example two links   url1.html url2.html   url1.html shows up when a user clicks that link the link auto changes to then when a new user clicks the linke url2.html then back to url1.html and so on?   Don't know where to start on how I would do this let alone have the server remember to keep which ever link to be held for the next user?

Can i open a pdf within a page? e.g. within <td> or <table> of htmls so that it appears on a section of a page where someone can just read through and still able to browse the web page. I dont want the PDF downloading or taking the whole page or even opening a new window and filling it.

so when everything is right in chklogin.php then it open loginsuccess.php after that when all is true then it open
login-index.php after that this page open it show double page one is index.php where the login form & another is this login-index.php at one time
