PHP - Query Outputs The Word 'array'?

I'm a bit new to PHP, as well as this forum.

I'm learning in a fast way, but there's something I can't seem to figure out, nor find it on google.
I'm sure it's a simple and basic trick, but like I said, I'm just a beginner

So the question is: How can I store multiple words to an array, using only 1 input form field?

I guess it's with a for-loop..?

So everytime you hit the 'submit' button, a new word should be added to the array. My problem is that I'm always overwriting ONE word..

This is what I've got so far.. :

Also: I'm using PHP 5, in combination with xHTML strict 1.0.

I'm using the code below to on echo certain words based on their index/key value, this works fine however, im trying to only do this in exploded quotes... the problem is, exploding quotes turns the portion into an array which cant be passed to str_word_count... how can i do the same thing only inside quotes. So that  hello world "this is a test" would become: Code: [Select]
Hello World This [0] => Is [1] => a [2] => Test [3] 

Im trying to always remove say the 4th word in quotations, or maybe the 3rd and 4th, whatever i want to omit i leave out from the echo, so echo $data[0].' '.$data[3].'; would output "This Test" omitting "Is A"

So I'm querying my database to add the results (mapID's) into a PHP array.
The MySQL query I used in the below code would usually return 10 values (only 10 mapID's in the database)

Instead the page takes ages to load then gives this error:

It says the error begins on the first line of the above code. I'm assuming this is not the right way to add the value from the MySQL array into a normal PHP array.

Can anyone help me?

This code is responsible for authenticating the user upon logging in. I went ahead and updated the mysqli portion to PDO. As you can see I var_dump some variables near the end. Variable $row prints out as array(1) { [0]=> array(9) { ["username"]=> string(4) "test" ["password"]=> string(60) "$2y$10$uQEUsIwm0usWyZjWk/vo8e90e867oPLBu3ThKCk1aUseMcQuuHrVq" ["avatar"]=> string(15) "assets/soap.jpg" ["doc"]=> NULL ["las"]=> NULL ["email"]=> string(13) "test@test.org" ["c_status"]=> string(1) "0" ["account_age"]=> NULL ["bio"]=> string(4) "test" } }. The other three print out as NULL. What exactly is going on here?

I have a piece of code that outputs json as you can see from the example below it add \ / in front of urls & for ' it turns it into &#39; is there something i can do to correct this?

Hey guys, I am having a bit of trouble, I am using the function time() to insert the time the form was submitted to the database.

It inserts the data like this:  1301407145

I have a date column.

I am then trying to echo the date the person submitted the form from the database using:

<?php echo date('d-M-Y h:i A', $date); ?>


the $date gets used with the mysql fetch array and for some reason it outputs it as: 01-Jan-1970 01:00 AM

Can someone explain to me why?

I am using this to insert into the db.

$date = time();
and then the $date goes into the statement.
mysql_query("INSERT INTO messages 
(reciever, sender, subject, message, date) 
VALUES
('$reciever', '$user', '$subject', '$message','$date')") or die (mysql_error());


Why isnt it working?

Hi,

I've inherited a website with a problem! Basically the site runs pommo mailing list, which has worked fine for years. Recently though the website domain name changed. Since then - or at least at a similar time - pommo has just stopped working completely. It does nothing but outputs blank pages.

I've never done any php development so I've no idea where to start in terms of debugging this. I've checked that the files etc all exist on the server: they do. I've uploaded a test html page which works. I've uploaded a test php page containing: <?php phpinfo( ); ?> and it works. But when I visit any  page in the pommo application, the browser just renders a totally empty white page - no source HTML at all, just nothing!

Can anyone suggest how to debug this? Even an error message would be somewhere to start.

I'm trying to delete items from a table by selecting them via checkboxes. I managed to post all the ids of the checkboxes I filled in the url like this,

check_box=154,153,152    etc...

and turned that into an array

using

$delete_selected = $connection->real_escape_string($_POST['check_box']);
$check_box_array = explode(",", $delete_selected);

Now I can't figure out how to put that into

$sql = "DELETE FROM categories WHERE cat_id = '$delete_selected'";

it only deletes one. Any ideas?

I am trying to store the results of a mysql query into a php array. Here is the code i am using

        while ($result = mysql_fetch_assoc($query))
        {
            $test2[] = $result;
       
        }   
        $test3 = implode(", ",$test2);       
        print_r($test3);

Everything works fine until implode the array. When i try to print after the implode the result is "Array, Array". if i remove the implode it prints "Array ( => Array ( [categoryTitle] => Escalators & Lifts ) [1] => Array ( [categoryTitle] => Human Resource/Payroll/ Training ) )"
The values here are ture. Im thinking that its storing an array inside another array so cannot implode. Is there something i can do to solve this

Hi there i need to make an array with the result from a query (numbers 1-4) I need to calculate how many occurances of each 1-4 number is in the table. Im new to this and havent much experience with arrays but ive managed to create an array and echo the results:

2 Class
3 Class
1 Class
3 Class
3 Class
2 Class
2 Class
2 Class

So i need to somehow Add the occurance of them and echo the results e.g. 4 Class 2, 1 Class 1, 3 Class 3.

If someone could please point me in the right direct that would be great.

I'm using a web service call, my response comes back as an array:
stdClass Object ( [contractVehicle] => Array ( [0] => ITSchedule70 [1] => ITCommodityProgram ) )
I then need to hand this response off to anther developer who needs to know that "ITSchedule70" is the selected Contract Vehicle (actually there could be more than one, this only returns one for now), so he can insert it into a SQL query against a MySQL database (to match "Products" with the right "Contract Vehicle".   So basically how do I do that? How to wrap it up and send it off, and how to insert a query?
