PHP - Tables / Forms
Hiya
Let me start by saying I am completley new to any kind of server side scripting although I have created a few websites. A local company I created a site for is after a secure area where the admin person can login & fill in an online rota sheet & then the staff login as themselves & view this online. I guess I can create multi level users but, what is the best way to go about this? If I create a fillable form/tables for the admin user how do I then send this to be viewable, but not editable by the staff members. They are also after an online timesheet that each member of staff can fill in themselves but for it also to be editable by the admin user. I figured forms or table would be also suitable for this as no automatic calculations need to be made. Essentially it would be like a fillable PDF - but one step at a time. any pointers very much appreciated Similar TutorialsGuys, quick one. Im writing a script for a form to post info into a MySql table. Now rather than just having a single row for input I'd like to have lets say 10 rows, so I can add 10 records to the database. What I'm pondering is 2 things: 1: can i just repeat Code: [Select] <input type="text" name="opponent" size="27" /> over and over, or is it going to need its own name each time for example; Code: [Select] <input type="text" name="opponent2" size="27" /> <input type="text" name="opponent3" size="27" /> 2: when it comes to the processing script is it more economical to have the forms input field named the same over and over (if it IS possible) and if not whats the most econimcal way to code my Code: [Select] $opp= $_POST['opponent']; $query="INSERT INTO fixtures (match_date, season, opponent) VALUES ('$date', '$season', '$opp',)"; Your help and comments are appreciated as always guys Tom This portion is kind of stumping me. Basically, I have a two tables in this DB: users and users_access_level (Separated for DB normalization) users: id / username / password / realname / access_level users_access_level: access_level / access_name What I'm trying to do, is echo the data onto an HTML table that displays users.username in one table data and then uses the users.access_level to find users_access_level.access_name and echo into the following table data, I would prefer not to use multiple queries if possible or nested queries. Example row for users: 1234 / tmac / password / tmac / 99 Example row for users_access_level: 99 / Admin Using the examples above, I would want the output to appear as such: Username: Access Name: Tmac Admin I am not 100% sure where to start with this, but I pick up quickly, I just need a nudge in the right direction. The code I attempted to create just shows my lack of knowledge of joining tables, but I'll post it if you want to see that I did at least make an effort to code this myself. Thanks for reading! Im doing a search system and Im having some problems.
I need to search in two tables (news and pages), I already had sucess doing my search system for just one table, but for two tables its not easy to do.
I already use a select statment with two tables using UNION because I want to show number of search results, that is number of returned rows of my first sql statment.
But now I need to do a select statment that allows me to acess all fields of my news table and all fields of my pages table.
I need to acess in my news table this fields: id, title, content, link, date, nViews
I need to acess in my pages table this fields: id, title, content, link
Im trying to do this also with UNION, but in this case Im not having any row returning.
Do you see what I have wrong in my code?
<?php //first I get my $search keyword $search = $url[1]; $pdo = connecting(); //then I want to show number of returned rows for keyword searched $readALL = $pdo->prepare("SELECT title, content FROM news WHERE title LIKE ? OR content LIKE ? UNION SELECT title, content FROM pages WHERE title LIKE ? OR content like ?"); $readALL->bindValue(1,"%$search%", PDO::PARAM_STR); $readALL->bindValue(2,"%$search%", PDO::PARAM_STR); $readALL->bindValue(3,"%$search%", PDO::PARAM_STR); $readALL->bindValue(4,"%$search%", PDO::PARAM_STR); $readALL->execute(); //I show number of returned rows echo '<p>Your search keyword returned <strong>'.$readALL->rowCount().'</strong> results!</p>'; //If dont return any rows I show a error message if($readALL->rowCount() <=0){ echo 'Sorry but we didnt found any result for your keyword search.'; } else{ //If return rows I want to show, if it is a page result I want to show title and link that I have in my page table //if it is a news result I want to show title and link that I have in my news table and also date of news echo '<ul class="searchlist">'; $readALL2 = $pdo->prepare("SELECT * FROM news WHERE status = ? AND title LIKE ? OR content LIKE ? LIMIT 0,4 UNION SELECT * FROM pages where title LIKE ? OR content LIKE ? LIMIT 0,4"); $readALL2->bindValue(1, '1'); $readALL2->bindValue(2, "%$search%", PDO::PARAM_STR); $readALL2->bindValue(3, "%$search%", PDO::PARAM_STR); $readALL2->bindValue(4, "%$search%", PDO::PARAM_STR); $readALL2->execute(); while ($result = $readALL2->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC)){ echo '<li>'; echo '<img src="'.BASE.'/uploads/news/'.$result['thumb'].'"/>'; echo '<a href="'.BASE.'/news/'.$result['id_news'].'">'.$result['title'].'</a>'; //if it is a news result I also want to show date on my list //echo '<span id="date">'.$result['date'].'</span>'; echo '</li>'; } echo ' </ul>'; //but how can I do my select statement to have access to my news table fields and my page table fields?? } ?> I am trying to write some data from multiple SQL tables to a page. In the first table is a list of places. I then have more tables that are named after the different places. For example, say my first place in the list is called Place1. I have a table named Place1 with data that corresponds to place1. The data contained in the table named Place1 is a list of things to do in this place. It has 21 columns and each one is something to do in the morning, afternoon, and at night for each day of the week in the place Place1. What I am trying to do is display a sort of weekly calendar as a table on a webpage that lists all of the places in one column and then lists seven days of the week as 7 more columns. Then in each data cell I would want to list the things to do in the morning, afternoon and at night for the certain day of the week and for the place. The problem is that I am creating a CMS to allow other users with no coding knowledge to update events for other places, so I have to display data that could have been altered. The only solution I know of is to do a while loop that gets all of the place names and while there are still place names, write the place names to the page and set a variable equal to the place name. Inside the while loop I would create another while loop that each time the first while loop is executed uses the variable set in the first while loop to know which table to reference and then make a call to that table pulling out the 21 columns and writing them to the page. Each time the outer while loop executes, it would (hopefully) write the place name, and then set the variable as the current place name so that the inner while loop uses the variable to write the rest of the information about that place. I don't know if that would even work and if it did, I know it cannot be the best way to do this. I am pretty stuck here and don't really have a good solution so if anyone proposes a solution that is radically different to anything I have done, I am open to everything. Thank you! Hello, I just assembly a form and for styling it I am using CSS in an external file. Problem is that IE8 and I don't know about 7 (in IE9 is ok) it doesn't show the styling inside the form... My structure is something like this: (in any other situation my css styling is displayed normally) Code: [Select] <form> <span class="myclass"> </span> </form>Is there any fix for it? Thank you We have this form that customers can make their own contact forms, and then it gets inserted to the database. We can show the forms with no problems, the problem lies when someone hits submit, how do I echo out the values of the form when I'm not sure what the input name or id is going to be? This sample form generated this code Code: [Select] <div class="element"> <label id="label-element-3" class="label" style="color:#4DBCE9;font-family:Trebuchet MS;font-size:1.2em;font-weight:normal;"> <span class="labelelementvalue">Email</span> <span class="required">*</span></label> <div class="errormessage" id="errormessage-element-3"></div> <div class="option-container"> <input class="af-inputtext af-email af-formvalue " type="text" name="element-3" id="element-3" value="" style="color:#000000;font-family:Verdana;font-size:0.8em;font-weight:normal;width:260px;border-style:solid; border-color:#dcdcdc;-moz-border-radius:5px;-khtml-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;border-radius:5px;border-width:1px;padding:5px;"></div> </div> <div class="element"> <label id="label-element-4" class="label" style="color:#4DBCE9;font-family:Trebuchet MS;font-size:1.2em;font-weight:normal;"> <span class="labelelementvalue">Textarea</span></label> <div class="errormessage" id="errormessage-element-4"></div> <div class="option-container"> <textarea class="af-textarea af-formvalue " name="element-4" id="element-4" style="color:#000000;font-family:Verdana;font-size:0.8em;font-weight:normal;width:300px;border-style:solid; border-color:#dcdcdc;-moz-border-radius:5px;-khtml-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;border-radius:5px;border-width:1px;padding:5px;" rows="6"></textarea></div> </div> <div class="element"> </div> If you notice, each input type is named "element-" with a number afterwards. So each input could be like "element-4", "element-21", and so forth. How would I post those values of the input fields when they are automatically named? Thanks in advance I am attempting to create a login page, but my script is giving errors in relation to the forms. Involved PHP: Code: [Select] $username = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['username']); if ($_POST['submit']=='Login') { $md5pass = md5($_POST['password']); $sql = "SELECT id,username FROM members WHERE username = '$username' AND password = '$md5pass'"; //etc etc... However, I do not know how to define them in relation to the forms. ok i have a questions i making a form so when users sign up to my website they we have an account page and in the account page the will have some more fields they need to filll in which i would use INSERT to put the things inside my db but what if they want to update there account should i use UPDATE I need someone that is really good with php forms, looking for major help. i need a form that is hidden until the user clicks a button on a calendar only Then the form will be visible and have a field for the day that way pressed on submit the form would go back to being invisible.
not sure how to implement this can anyone help
I am starting to build out a class to handle forms. I want to be able to add and edit data in some cases and just add data in other cases. Also want to do some ajax stuff to prevent from having to reload the pages in certain cases. I would like to view how some other form classes work so I can model mine to what I like about others but suit my needs. I was wondering if anyone has worked with any preexisting form classes that they could recommend. I know libraries like zend and so on have these built in and wasnt sure if anyone liked any one specifically and why. Hi there, I'm new to php/MySQL. Just wondering how to create a multipage form with a back, save and submit button. Also, how do you stored the form data into the datebase and how do you display a list of submitted forms by the user to the user. Hi, im new to the forum and also to php, ive had a look through the tutorials and various threads but cant seem to find what im after. im created a simply image gallery that auto creates my thumbnails and allows for editing the image with gdlibrary etc all very good here. I recently decided to start work on the image keyword tagging so i could carry out searches etc on my very large image collection. i created the usual 3 table setup as im going to have a many to many relationship, so i have my "images" table, "keywords" table and a "img_key" table to link them together. As i understand it this would seem like the best setup for what i want to achieve, if not would someone be able to advise what i should be doing to get better results. Ok so the main problem i have now is that i want to show a series of check boxes underneath each image that gets selected so i can start tagging the uploaded images, to do this i used "select * from keywords" which gave me all keywords available - which is what i want...... However, i now want to somehow add to this so that once the page loads it knows which keywords have already been selected and ticks the relevant boxes automatically, as I have an sql update statement linked to the tickboxes/submit button i want to ensure i dont forget to re-tick any boxes So in a nutshell i need help with displaying all keywords each as a tickbox and if they have already been linked in my 'img_key' link table then they will tick the related tick box automatically , depending on what i need to change im guessing i may need to revise my updating of mysql ? ive been struggling with this silly problem now for a few weeks so im desperate for some assistance I am quite new to this and am working on a site of my own. I am wanting to input data into a database based on the values of two textboxes. I have the general engine set up but there are some problems. For example when I do the INSERT with values such as: mysql_query("INSERT INTO PageTable (uniqueid, ImageLink, ImageLink2, IP) VALUES ('3434343', 'http://www.example.com/1.jpg', 'http://www.example.com/1.jpg', '94.123.123.9')"); This will go into the database perfectly. However if I do this: mysql_query("INSERT INTO PageTable (uniqueid, ImageLink, ImageLink2, IP) VALUES ($random2, $img1, $img2, $ip)"); Where random2 is rand() and img1 and img2 are the values of the text boes and ip is the ip of the user. When I do this there is no insert into the database. Another thing I noticed was that if I put in '111111111111111111' into the textbox the value in the database is something like 111111111111111.0904039 or something like that, however if I put '111111111111111111' into the INSERT statement it goes into the database perfectly. Also if I put '1' into the textbox it goes in fine but putting 'a' into the textbox and it doesn't! I am sure I am missing something very very basic but I just can't get my head round this! Any help would be much appreciated. Hi everyone, I need a little help on making forms that automatically update as you select stuff, For example if you was to select something from a drop down menu, The page will update, And show a new drop down box that will list products compatible with the fiirst product, I could easily add these to arrays, Then the script could just pull from each array. Also I don't know if this will need any javascript... I am no good at that so please warn me if it does! Any kind of help would be highly appreciated, Thanks, Gergy. Hi, I have an HTML form created using Dreamweaver and now I need a script to handle the form processing. Basically what I need is for the form data received from the webpage to be organized in an email and then sent to me. I would also like to display a thank you message in the browser so the user knows it was received. I was planning to do this using CGI but a colleague suggested that CGI is old school and nowadays a developer would use PHP for this task. Is PHP the right solution for this project? The examples I have found so far always include the HTML for the form and the script needed to handle it in one file. In my case, I have an HTML form already in place and need it to work with a script to perform the email function. I know I need to set "Action=" on my webpage to point to the PHP script but what would the code look like if no HTML is needed? I hope this makes sense... Thanks for your help! Hope you can help as it is driving me crazy. The scenario: I have an html form (_post) which I would like to write the contents of to a one XML file using php. The problem is: The html page has three/four forms in it. Form a = (submit a writes/updates only to section a) Form b = (submit b writes/updates only to section b) Form c = (submit c writes/updates only to section c) Form d= (submit a, b, c writes/updates all sections) The XML page has three sections a, b & c To conclude, I want to be able to update the XML file in sections or update them all as a whole. How can I go about achieving this? Thanks Is it worthwhile to create an object to generate my HTML forms? Starting out it would appear to be worthwhile but I'm not sure how things might change later down the line when I'm doing more with my forms and introducing javascript to it. It's a bunch of coding to change all my forms now so I wanted to hear some input before I started. Would this be just a complete waste of server side processing? TIA! |
