PHP - Searching For Next Event In A List
Hello, I am quite new in PHP.
I am doing a page with list of events (seminars). The events are saved in a XML file in chronological order and their each event has its date in d-m-Y format and time in h:m format. What I need to do is find the next event (with respect to the actual date and time). I can do it using a loop (foreach) and stringtotime() and comparing obtained values. However, this seems to be quite a clumsy way. Is there any better way to do it? Maybe there is a function, package or some extension, which I don't know... I tried xpath, however it does not know how to compare the dates (I use xml 1.0). Thank you very much. AND map = 1 ORDER BY time_saved DESC"; $save_planet2 = mysql_query($save_planet3) or trigger_error("SQL", E_USER_ERROR); while ($list = mysql_fetch_array($save_planet2)) { $saver_id = $list['saver_id']; When I echo $saver_id im getting a list of numbers 3112 3112 3112 3112 im trying to do a check if $planet_id is equal to any of these numbers So i figure the only way to do this is to put these numbers in a array with keys first. So I tried to explode it but it doesnt give each one a differant key I noticed. $check = explode(",", $saver_id); print_r($check); Array ( [0] => 3112 ) Array ( [0] => 3112 ) Array ( [0] => 3112 ) Array ( [0] => 3112 ) Once i get this in a workable array i should beable to do this right foreach($array as $key => $value) { if ($planet_id == $value) { //something happends Hello there, I am pretty new to php and I was wondering if anyone can give me some input. Basically I am creating a search engine where I can search for words in certain files. I am trying to search using two or more words for instance a file may have the sentence 'the cat ran across the road', and another file has 'the road is long'. I would like to search 'cat road', and have these two files show up with each word highlighted. At the moment 'cat road' is being searched as just one string. I have exploded the keyword, and i have broken the array into separate words but for some reason it is still not searching. Again I would appreciate any feedback. Just to show you a bit of my code to explain: if(!empty($_GET['keyword'])) { $user_input = trim($_GET['keyword']); $user_input = preg_replace("/ {2,}/", " ",$user_input); $keyword = explode(" ", $user_input); for($i=0;$i<count($keyword);$i++) { echo("$keyword[$i]\n"); } $keyword = $_GET['keyword']; } Thanks for your time, Farha Hello, I have been developing a website that needs to display products online, I was originally going to hand-write the PHP code but I thought it would be more beneficial to make it database orientated as new products can easily be added and a search function becomes possible. I have it working so far so good, but the last part I can't seem to get working. I have it so all the products that have the desired category are displayed, but I want a more detailed analysis of the product to appear when the image is clicked, which at the moment, displays a blank page. http://www.webwib.co...?p=floorpuzzles - this is the hand coded version that demonstrates how I want it to work. http://www.webwib.co...hp?floorpuzzles - this is the db version so far, it works how it is intended to apart from the last stage, which returns as a blank page rather than a dedicated page for the selected product. Here is my code, the third segment beginning with "if(isset($_GET['$ID'])){", is my attempt at the final stage. <?php $db=mysql_connect ("localhost", "webwibco_charlie", "Hello123") or die ('I cannot connect to the database because: ' . mysql_error()); $mydb=mysql_select_db("webwibco_products"); include("header.php"); if(isset($_GET['floorpuzzles'])){ echo "<h1>Our Floor Puzzles</h1>"; $sql="SELECT ID, Name, Tags, Description, Category FROM products WHERE Category LIKE '%" . FloorPuzzles . "%'"; $result=mysql_query($sql); while($row=mysql_fetch_array($result)){ $Name =$row['Name']; $ID =$row['ID']; $Description =$row['Description']; echo "<div class=\"box\">"; echo "<h1>$Name</h1>"; echo "<div class=\"floorbox\"><a href=\"?$ID#productspage\"><img src=\"images/products/catalogue/$ID.jpg\" class=\"small\"></a></div>"; echo "<h2>$Description</h2>"; echo "</div>"; } } if(isset($_GET['anothercategory'])){ $sql="SELECT ID, Name, Tags, Description, Category FROM products WHERE Category LIKE '%" . AnotherCategory . "%'"; $result=mysql_query($sql); while($row=mysql_fetch_array($result)){ $Name =$row['Name']; $ID =$row['ID']; $Description =$row['Description']; echo "<h1>Our Floor Puzzles</h1>"; echo "<div class=\"box\">"; echo "<h1>$Name</h1>"; echo "<div class=\"floorbox\"><a href=\"?$ID0#productspage\"><img src=\"images/products/catalogue//$ID.jpg\" class=\"small\"></a></div>"; echo "<h2>$Description</h2>"; echo "</div>"; } } if(isset($_GET['$ID'])){ $sql="SELECT ID, Name, Tags, Description, Peices, Size, Barcode, Category FROM products WHERE ID LIKE '%" . $ID . "%'"; $result=mysql_query($sql); while($row=mysql_fetch_array($result)){ $Name =$row['Name']; $ID =$row['ID']; $Description =$row['Description']; $Pieces =$row['Pieces']; $Size =$row['Size']; $Barcode =$row['Barcode']; echo "<div class=\"1\">"; echo "<h1>$Name</h1>"; echo "<div class=\"bigbox\">"; echo "<div class=\"floorbox\"><img src=\"images/products/catalogue/$ID.jpg\" class=\"big\"></div>"; echo "</div>"; echo "</div>"; echo "<div class=\"2\">"; echo "<p>Puzzle Pieces: $Pieces</p> <p>Puzzle Size: $Size</p> <p>Barcode $Barcode</p>"; echo "</div>"; } } include("footer.php"); ?>Thank you in advance for any assistance given. Hi All, I'm new to PHP and felt that if anyone can help me out it would be someone of the PHPfreaks community. I've used the "easyphpcalendar" in my site, www.imagenenation.ca and my client has requested that the "list mode" (white section of the homepage) only have one event listed at a time. This i can do. The other part of their request is to have that one event be pulled from a list of events posted during that calendar month. So I'm looking for a PHP string of code that will echo a random event to be posted to the single "list mode" area, from a group of postings for a day that may have up to six postings. The code currently used for this "list mode" is; <?php $LIST=1; $DF = "D - M d"; $noOld = 1; $template="monthly_image.php"; $mo=9; $listEvents=2; <--this i can set to 1 to only show one event require ("calendar/calendar.php"); ?> Does this request make sense to you? All help will be appreciated greatly, Realredd So I am creating a list of events. There will be a drop down menu to change between months. I only want the months to be listed if an event during that month exists. So if I have events listed for September and November, list only September and November, skipping October. Any idea on how to approach this or if there are any functions for such a thing? This topic has been moved to PHP Applications. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=330163.0 I have a listener which executes a HTTP request to a remote API before the User entity is persisted and uses the response to set one of the entity's properties. It will also listen for update and remove and will make the appropriate HTTP request to the API but will not modify the entity. All works as desired... Almost. If when persisting the entity, I have some error, the remote API and my application become out of sync. I wish to change my application to perform a second call to the API if an error occurs and reverse the previous call. My thoughts on how to implement a Place a try/catch block when executing the query. Don't like this approach. Add an ExceptionListener which somehow retrieves the entity and makes the applicable changes. Maybe part of the solution, but too complicated to be the full solution. When adding, updating, or deleting a user from the remote API under UserListener's three methods, adding a callback which gets executed upon a PDOException. I think this is the best approach and expanded my thoughts below.
<?php namespace App\EventListener; use Doctrine\Persistence\Event\LifecycleEventArgs; use App\Service\HelpDeskClient; use App\Entity\AbstractUser; final class UserListner { private $helpDeskClient; public function __construct(HelpDeskClient $helpDeskClient) { $this->helpDeskClient = $helpDeskClient; } public function prePersist(AbstractUser $user, LifecycleEventArgs $event) { $this->helpDeskClient->addUser($user); //$user will be updated with the HTTP response } public function preUpdate(AbstractUser $user, LifecycleEventArgs $event) { $this->helpDeskClient->updateUser($user); } public function preRemove (AbstractUser $user, LifecycleEventArgs $event) { $this->helpDeskClient->deleteUser($user); } } Okay, how do I actually do this? Was thinking of modifying UserListner as follows: //... use Symfony\Component\HttpKernel\KernelEvents; final class UserListner { // ... public function prePersist(AbstractUser $user, LifecycleEventArgs $event) { $this->helpDeskClient->addUser($user); $event->getObjectManager()->getEventManager()->addEventListener(KernelEvents::EXCEPTION, function($something) use($user) { // Use $this->helpDeskClient to reverse the changes }); } // Similar for update and remove }
But when trying this approach, I get a PDOException, but my callback never gets excecated. I've also tried replacing KernelEvents::EXCEPTION with '\PDOException' (note the quotes) with no success. Any ideas what I should be doing differently? Maybe some totally different approach? I suppose I could make the request to the API after the DB query is complete for updating and deleting, but not for adding. Hi im really confused and annoyed Im making a real estate website and im stuck ont eh searching for a house part. Im trying to set up some searches on the different parts of the house usign text boxes for area and postcode and drop boxes for type and bedrooms and bathrooms i now you have to set up a form with input type text and then call it a name use get/post on a php side and then $_POST['search']; But i dnt seem to be able to make a search was hoping someone was kind enough to knock me up some quick code so it is functional and makbe i can work from it A;so any help towards searching using dropboxes would be awsume and if i have 2 boxes for price upper and lower how would this work Much appreciated Ok I have a set of PDF files that i need to be searchable. My question how do i go about doing this. Can this be achieved with php or do a need to do something else? So I've full text indexed the columns I want searchable: I have some rows inserted: Yet when I run a match() against(), I get 0 results: If I do: Code: [Select] SELECT * FROM video WHERE MATCH (name) AGAINST ('test') I get 2 results. Why does that work, yet keywords don't? I've been reading a few tutorials on how the best way to search key words in a database and at the moment im trying to get this query to work but its coming back with a error:
#1191 - Can't find FULLTEXT index matching the column listquery: SELECT title, description FROM items WHERE MATCH(title, description) AGAINST('xbox')any help or advise on how the best way to search 2 columns on matching words...thank you Hi, I want to create a search which uses the 'title' of my 'product' table and matches the terms the user has submitted. At the moment, my products are displaying one by one. For example, I have an apple and apricot in my table. The user searches 'a' and the search results show 'apple' but not apricot. Here's my code: Code: [Select] <?php require_once('inc/global.inc.php'); # search.inc.php /* * This is the search content module. * This page is included by index.php. * This page expects to receive $_GET['terms']. */ // Redirect if this page was accessed directly: if (!defined('BASE_URL')) { // Need the BASE_URL, defined in the config file: require_once ('../includes/config.inc.php'); // Redirect to the index page: $url = BASE_URL . 'index.php?p=search'; // Pass along search terms? if (isset($_GET['terms'])) { $url .= '&terms=' . urlencode($_GET['terms']); } header ("Location: $url"); exit; } // End of defined() IF. // Print a caption: echo '<h2>Search Results</h2>'; // Display the search results if the form // has been submitted. if (isset($_GET['terms']) && ($_GET['terms'] != 'Search...') ) { $terms = $_GET['terms']; $dbc = mysqli_connect(DB_HOST, DB_USER, DB_PASSWORD, DB_NAME) or die *('Error connecting to MySQL server'); // Query the database. $query = "SELECT * FROM product WHERE title LIKE '%$terms%'"; $result = mysqli_query($dbc, $query); // Fetch the results. $row = mysqli_fetch_array($result); // Print the results: $output[] = '<ul>'; $output[] = '<li>'.$row['title'] .': £'.$row['price'].'<br /><img src="'.$row['img'].'" alt="'.$row['title'].'" /></li>'; $output[] = '</ul>'; echo join('',$output); } else { // Tell them to use the search form. echo '<p class="error">Please use the search form at the top of the window to search this site.</p>'; } ?> A friend told me I need to use a for-each loop but I can't figure it out. Any help is appreciated, thanks for reading. I'm having some trouble with a GET search code; everything works until the stringresult but then it dies to Error Querying Database Code: [Select] <html> <body> <?php //Get sort setting and search terms from URL with GET $usersearch = $_GET['usersearch']; echo 'Search word: ' . $usersearch; echo '<br>'; require_once("dbvars.php"); //Connect to Database $dbc = mysqli_connect (DB_HOST, DB_USER, DB_PW, DB_NAME) or die ("Error connecting to database."); //Build the Query $query = "SELECT * FROM customers" . All works perfectly. The dropdownlist consists of 3 parts <optgroups> first is current selection (what is the usesr current selection)works fine, The second <optgroup> is existing words, what words we(the site) have given as options, and the third <optgroup> is the words that others have used. This is where im having a small problem. Because its a text field when i call the data from the database, it calls the entire text box as a single option in my select list.. I want to break the words in the text field (at the comma) and have them listed each one as an option in the select list. Example what i need: Words in text box:(my input allows the "comma") word1, word2, word3, word4, word5, word6, How i want them called/displayed: <option value=\"word1\">word1</option> <option value=\"word2\">word2</option> <option value=\"word3\">word3</option> <option value=\"word4\">word4</option> <option value=\"word5\">word5</option> <option value=\"word6\">word6</option> here's my code: $query = "SELECT allwords FROM #__functions_experience WHERE profile_id = '".(int)$profileId."' Can I split showing of content of dynamic list in 2 parts , when I echo list in code .. Code: [Select] <?php // Run a select query to get my letest 8 items // Connect to the MySQL database include "../connect_to_mysql.php"; $dynamicList = ""; $sql = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM products ORDER BY date_added DESC LIMIT 8"); $productCount = mysql_num_rows($sql); // count the output amount if ($productCount > 0) { while($row = mysql_fetch_array($sql)){ $id = $row["id"]; $product_name = $row["product_name"]; $price = $row["price"]; $date_added = strftime("%b %d, %Y", strtotime($row["date_added"])); $dynamicList .= '<table width="100%" border="2" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="2"> <tr> <td width="17%" valign="top"><a href="product.php?id=' . $id . Can I split dynamic list to show 4 images with details on the left side and 4 on the right side? Thank you in advance for help , if is possible Hi, I use the following code to create a select menu from an array of options stored in LISTS.php: include 'LISTS.php'; print('<select id="from" name="from">'); foreach ($langList as $lang) {printf('<option %s>%s</option>', ($from1 == $lang ? 'selected="selected"' : ''), $lang); } echo '</select>'; where LISTS.php includes the following: $langList = array(' ','English', 'French', 'German', 'Dutch', 'Spanish'); This works great, but now I want to do something similar with a checkbox list, where each checkbox has an associated 'onchange' javascript function and I'm getting pretty stuck. My checkbox list is of the following form: Code: [Select] <html> <ul style="height: 95px; overflow: auto; width: 200px; border: 1px solid #480091; list-style-type: none; margin: 0; padding: 0;"> <li id="li1b"><label for="chk1b"><input name="chk1b" id="chk1b" type="checkbox" onchange="function1('chk1b','li1b')">Option1</label></li> <li id="li2b"><label for="chk2b"><input name="chk2b" id="chk2b" type="checkbox" onchange="function1('chk2b','li2b')">Option2</label></li> //etc. </ul> </html> What I want to do is have 'Option1', 'Option2', etc. stored in an array in LISTS.php and have a PHP script that populates the checkbox list accordingly, in a similar manner to my select menu above. I can't work out how to get the ID of the next <li> and the next <input> in the list to go up by one each time, e.g. 'li1b' then 'li2b', 'li3b', etc. Could someone pls help me out? Thanks! Hi there, I'm working on PHP webform and I have a variable called $weightInfo which has the value 5000|6000 Now I have a list of Arrays and I would like to see if our variable value (i.e 5000|6000) is in that list of Array: Here is the ArrayList: $WeightArray = array('' => '', '0|100' => '100g or Less', '101|250' => '101g to 250g', '251|500' => '251g to 500g', '501|1000' => '501g to 1kg', '1000|2000' => '1kg to 2kg', '2000|3000' => '2kg to 3kg', '3000|4000' => '3kg to 4kg', '4000|5000' => '4kg to 5kg', '5000|6000' => '5kg to 6kg', '6000|7000' => '6kg to 7kg', '7000|8000' => '7kg to 8kg', '8000|9000' => '8kg to 9kg', '9000|10000' => '9kg to 10kg', 'customValues' => 'Custom Values' ); Now as we can see, in this ArrayList, there is that value 5000|6000. How do we find this through code, do we need some kind of looping or how do we check it. Kindly reply. Thank you Dear All, Greetings! I am a student and have a final semester project of making a php based form to search a database. Database is already created: Username: test password: test1 Details: DB Name: resume_bank, Table Name: Candidate Table contents: Name, Phone, Address, DOB, Gender, Designation, experience_yrs, experience_months, Employment_Status I need the code which would give the user an option to search using AND, OR, ALL functions. Friends please help. The form should look like: Enter the Designation you are looking for: Enter the experience: Yrs___ Months___ Select Gender: The result must come in another webpage which has numbered display results, like page-1, page-2, page3... PLEASE HELP URGENTLY!!!!!!! ANY BODY HAS READY MADE CODE PLEASE SEND IT!!!!!! Thanks. I am working on a poject, where the search functions doesnt work as the user wishes. The coding is technically correct, but the idea behind it is wrong. Basically at the moment, the script receives this: thesite.com/search.php?q=xxxx&Submit=Search The search script then runs a database query to search the tag coloumn, looking for like $q. This would work, however the structure of the coloumn is tag1, tag2, tag3, tag4. So my resolutions is this so far: I explode the $q variable, via the + (if you search more than one term "thesite.com/search.php?q=search+stuff&Submit=Search" I then count the elements in the array and write the database function accordingly Code: [Select] $var = @$_GET['q'] ; $trimmed = trim($var); $searchpieces = explode("+", $trimmed); $dbquery=""; $count = count($searchpieces); for ($i = 0; $i < $count; $i++) { if($i == 0){$dbquery.="tags = $searchpieces[$i]";} elseif($i > 0){$dbquery.=" OR tags = $searchpieces[$i]";} } So my database query is $sql = "select * from gallery where $dbquery order by date DESC " . $limit; so my question is this.. how to i eplode the tags database coloumn, so my datase query an look at each tag fro "tag1, tag2, tag3" as "tag1" "tag2" "tag3" I am not even sure if this is possible, but its the system that is already in place. The problem with the current system, is because the pictures have alot of tags and the database query is $like $q, it just shows all images in the database as the result I am trying to perform a search but it doesn't see to pass through i thing its because of this \ does any one know how i can pass this trought to search in mysql table 12\019PB (i cant search this item) Code: [Select] $searchlading = mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['searchlading']) ; // get the query for the search engine (if applicable) $trimmed = trim($searchlading); //trim whitespace from the stored variable //query for pedimento $sql_ped = "SELECT order_id, bill_of_lading, pedimento_num FROM `".TABLE_ORDERS."` WHERE bill_of_lading LIKE '%$trimmed%'"; |
