PHP - Problems With Sessions/arrays
Please help, i'm writing a code that a user must match a random word ($word) from a choice of definitions ($word_defs)...No matter what definition is picked from the list, the response is always 'incorrect', can someone please look at my code and tell me what's wrong?
Here is the entry code: Code: [Select] require_once "include/word_defs.php"; $word = array_keys($word_defs); $word_defs = array_unique(array_values($word_defs)); $session = new Session(); $params = (object) $_REQUEST; if (isset($params->guess)) { $word = $params->word; if ( $params->word_defs == $word_defs[$word] ) { $response = "correct"; } else { $response = "incorrect"; } $choices->word_def[$params->word_defs] = "selected"; } else { $word = $word[ rand( 0, count($word)-1 ) ]; } Code in body: Code: [Select] word: <?php echo $word ?> <form action="?" method="get"> definition: <select name="word_defs"> <?php foreach ($word_defs as $word_def): ?> <option <?php echo $choices->word_def[$word_def] ?> ><?php echo $word_def?></option> <?php endforeach ?> </select> <input type="submit" name="guess" value="Guess" /> <input type="hidden" name="word" value="<?php echo $word?>" /> </form> <h3><?php echo $response ?></h3> Similar TutorialsProbably easiest to explain what I am trying to do, to illustrate the impasse I have came to. I have online store With a number of products. Visitors can click on products, clicking brings details of the product came up in a frame on the right (with a field to enter the quantity), which can than be added to the shopping cart in a separate frame below it bottom right (passed using a different script (the one which I am having issues with)). So each time a product is added to the cart, three dynamic fields are passed via post script, which are named "product_name", "unit_quantity" and "unit_price" (these are all hidden fields called from a sql database based on what product the user clicked on). So for the shopping cart, I want to incorporate an associative array using the three dynamic fields described above("product_name", "unit_quantity" and "unit_price") within a session so that a number of products can be added (hence using an array rather than a variable). So shopping cart i have done so far reads: <?php session_start(); if (!isset ($product_name) && !empty($product_name)) { if (!session_is_registered("product_info")) { $pos=0; session_register("pos"); $product_info[$pos]= array ( 'product_name'=>$product_name, 'unit_quantity'=>$unit_quantity, 'product_quantity'=>$unit_quantity * $unit_price); session_register("product_info"); } ?> Not sure (as I am new to sessions, how to call the array to the screen). I have read through past threads but have not been able to found anything similar to what I am trying to achieve). Pesky me again. This time I`d like to have my session code looked over. I`m having some problems with it. When a user logs into my website (provided they enter all the right information), they will log in no problem. However, the session doesn`t last as long as I`d like it and it seems to be unpredictable with how long it`ll last. Such as, one day it`ll last 5 hours even with closing the browser. The next day it might last 20 minutes. The next day it may log the person out if they close the browser. I`d looked around on the net to see what could be going wrong with my code but I guess I`m not getting it. Any more epxerienced set of eyes want to look it over and give me their opinion: function RemoveSession() { $_SESSION = array(); if (isset($_COOKIE[session_name()])) { @setcookie(session_name(), '', time()+(60*60*24*365), '/'); } } Is it even possible to make a session last as long as cookies can? Like have it last a month even though the person closes the browser and shuts off their computer and doesn`t visit for a few days? I`d like to have it start out lasting a full month if possible. Hello everyone, it's my first post here. I was recommend this community for it's professionalism and "friendlyness". During my stay here, please excuse my english. I know it can be unpleasant for you to read a thread with terrible grammar, I hate it in my native language, I'll do my best. Okay, so I'm having two major issues for my website to operate like I'd like it to, I've done everything I knew about, and I can't think about anything else Google didn't help me much either this time. First one is that I seem to have a cookies/sessions problem. Well, I use Liberty Reserve to allow my members to top up their account. So I send my form to their SCI and when I either cancel or complete a transaction, I return to my website but I'm not logged in anymore! So the auto-add to balance system can't work. Alright, when I saw this I was only using sessions, so I added cookies so I could rely on them too. And there again, same thing. Doubled, tripled checked all the LR settings and everything, I know they are right. But what's really, really, weird to me and what's really doing my head in is that I'm not actually logged out, because if I use another tab/window I'm still logged in. In other words, it's only the window coming back from Liberty Reserve that won't log in. The cookies are still here and so is the session so... Another terrible thing is that it used to work when I was on my previous host (just moved to a dedicated server, which may be causing the problems, it's the first time I administrate a dedi). This is blocking my entire website from working. And my second problem is with the function mail() -there again 'caused' by new server-. I don't get any error message, or anything. The e-mails with cPanel/WHM work great. Though, I have done several tests and it never reaches my Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo account. It did work with a Yopmail inbox though. So, I was focusing on 'why isn't it sending it' but since I just noticed it worked with Yopmail, I'm sure it is sending it and have no ideas why wouldn't it work with other e-mail service providers. I hope you understood what I meant and that, hopefully, you guys can help me out with those totally handicapping issues. Thank you, Regards. -Ben. I am new to using arrays..........so I don't really know what is wrong here, could someone please help, it is not posting properly.........I think it has to do with arrays: Code: [Select] <?php $sql = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM Registration WHERE eventid='".$_GET['eventid']."'"); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($sql)){ $eventid = $row["eventid"]; $event = $row["event"]; $startdate = $row["startdate"]; $enddate = $row["enddate"]; $description = $row["description"]; $location = $row["location"]; $title1 = $row['title1']; $title2 = $row['title2']; $title3 = $row['title3']; $title4 = $row['title4']; $title5 = $row['title5']; $title6 = $row['title6']; $title7 = $row['title7']; $title8 = $row['title8']; $price1 = $row['price1']; $price2 = $row['price2']; $price3 = $row['price3']; $price4 = $row['price4']; $price5 = $row['price5']; $price6 = $row['price6']; $price7 = $row['price7']; $price8 = $row['price8']; $date1 = $row['date1']; $date2 = $row['date2']; $date3 = $row['date3']; $date4 = $row['date4']; $date5 = $row['date5']; $date6 = $row['date6']; $date7 = $row['date7']; $date8 = $row['date8']; //this will echo the contents of each db row as they are iterated in the loop ############################# echo "<form action ='quickregister.php' method='post'>"; echo "<center><table border='1' width='600'>"; // Example of testing title1 for the userid (already registered) ... echo "<tr><td width='300'>"; if (!empty($title1)) { echo "<select name=\"title1\" id=\"title1\"> <option value=\"$title1\">$title1</option>";} if (!empty($title2)) { echo "<select name=\"title2\" id=\"title1\"> <option value=\"$title2\">$title2</option>";} if (!empty($title3)) { echo "<select name=\"title3\" id=\"title1\"> <option value=\"$title3\">$title3</option>";} if (!empty($title4)) { echo "<select name=\"title4\" id=\"title1\"> <option value=\"$title4\">$title4</option>";} if (!empty($title5)) { echo "<select name=\"title5\" id=\"title1\"> <option value=\"$title5\">$title5</option>";} if (!empty($title6)) { echo "<select name=\"title6\" id=\"title6\"> <option value=\"$title6\">$title6</option>";} if (!empty($title7)) { echo "<select name=\"title7\" id=\"title1\"> <option value=\"$title7\">$title7</option>";} if (!empty($title8)) { echo "<select name=\"title8\" id=\"title1\"> <option value=\"$title8\">$title8</option>";} echo "</select>"; echo "<input type='hidden' name='eventid' value='$eventid'>"; echo "<input type='hidden' name='event' value='$event'>";} ?> <p><form id="form1" name="form1" method="post" action="quickregister.php"> <center> <label for="title1"></label> <table width="323" border="1" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="2"> <tr> <th width="58" scope="col"> </th> <th width="245" scope="col"> </th> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <br /></td> <td><?php $select = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM members") or die(mysql_error()); while ($member = mysql_fetch_array($select)) { echo '<input type="checkbox" name="user[]" value="'.$member[name].'">'.$member[name].'<br><input type="hidden" name="userid[]" value="'.$member[userid].'"><input type="hidden" name="email[]" value="'.$member[email].'">'; } ?></td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td><input type="hidden" name="eventname" id="<?php echo $eventname; ?>" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td><input type="submit" name="submit" id="submit" value="Post" /></td> </tr> </table></center> </form> <?php if ($_POST['submit']){ foreach ($_POST[user] as $key => $value) foreach ($_POST[userid] as $key => $value1) foreach ($_POST[email] as $key => $value2){ // [..] code that adds the message to the database $title1 = $_POST['title1']; $title2 = $_POST['title2']; $title3 = $_POST['title3']; $title4 = $_POST['title4']; $title5 = $_POST['title5']; $title6 = $_POST['title6']; $title7 = $_POST['title7']; $title8 = $_POST['title8']; $eventid = $_POST['eventid']; $event = $_POST['event']; $query ="insert into Events(title1, title2, title3, title4, title5, title6, title7, title8, userid, name, eventid, event, email, price1, price2, price3, price4, price5, price6, price7, price8, barcode, verified) VALUES ('$title1', '$title2', '$title3', '$title4', '$title5', '$title6', '$title7', '$title8', '$value1', '$value','$eventid', '$event', '$value2', 'quick', 'quick', 'quick', 'quick', 'quick', 'quick', 'quick', 'quick', 'quick', 'quick')"; mysql_query($query) or die('Error, query failed'); } exit(); } ?> This topic has been moved to Third Party PHP Scripts. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=321546.0 I have this thing that i am trying to make but i cant get it to work.. can anyone help? I'm having troubling with trying to create a function to spit out a single array with the following array. I can write it in a away that looks through the arrays manually. the results i am trying to generate is that each item in generated array. Array to convert array( "account" => array( "login", "register", "logout", "edit", ), "p" => array( "report", ), "array1.0" => array( "array2.0" => array( "array3.0", "array3.1 ), "array2.1", ), generating the array will look like this
Array ( [0] => account [1] => account/login [2] => account/register [3] => account/logout [4] => account/edit [5] => p [6] => p/report [7] => array1.0 [8] => array1.0/array2.0 [9] => array1.0/array2.0/array3.0 [10] => array1.0/array2.0/array3.1 [11] => array1.0/array2.1 ) The idea is that id generates a single array with combined labels and arrays inside, etc. I just can't figure out how to create a script that will create this array even If I add a new value or array.
I have two arrays, both with the same key values. I'd like to combine them. So for instance... Code: [Select] <?php $array1['abcd'] = array( 'value1' => "blah", 'value2' => "blahblah"); $array1['efgh'] = array( 'value1' => "ha", 'value2' => "haha", 'valuex' => "xyz"); $array2['abcd'] = array('value3' => "three", 'value4' => "four"); $array2['efgh'] = array( 'value3' => "hohoho", 'value6' => "six6"); function combine_arrays($array1,$array2) { //*combining* return $single_array; } echo "<pre>"; print_r(combine_arrays($array1,$array2)); echo "</pre>"; /* would produce ['abcd'] = ( 'value1' => "blah", 'value2' => "blahblah", 'value3' => "three", 'value4' => "four" ) ['efgh'] = ( 'value1' => "ha", 'value2' => "haha", 'valuex' => "xyz", 'value3' => "hohoho", 'value6' => "six6" ) */ ?> What's the easiest way to do this? I am in the process of opening my web site to the general public. Right now you have to have a username and password to see anything on the site. What I am looking to do is make it so anyone can see most things on the site. There will still be user accounts for things like admins and submitting ideas. What i have now is some links that look at the user rank and only show up if you are higher then a rank. What I need to do is make it so you don't need to log in to see the site but you still need to log in to edit things. Here is my sessions scrip Code: [Select] <?php session_start(); if(!$_SESSION['login']){ $_SESSION['rank']; $_SESSION['loggedinusername'] = $loggedinusername; $_SESSION['loggedinuseremail'] = $loggedinuseremail; header("location:login.php"); } $rank=$_SESSION['rank']; $loggedinusername=$_SESSION['loggedinusername']; $loggedinuseremail=$_SESSION['loggedinuseremail']; ?> How do I edit this so you are free to move around the site even if your not logged in? Thanks Hello everyone, i'm new to php and i'm having hard time with sessions i'm trying to create a php file with a drop down menu and when you select an item from the drop down menu, you could retreve it from another page. for example: a1.php Code: [Select] <?php session_start(); if(isset($_POST['color'])) { $_SESSION['blue']='blue'; $_SESSION['red']='red'; $_SESSION['green']='green'; $_SESSION['orange']='orange'; } ?> <html> <body> <form id="shirt" method="post" action="a2.php"> <p> <select name="Size"> <option value="invalid">Select a size ...</option> <option value="blue">blue</option> <option value="red">red</option> <option value="green">green</option> <option value="orange">orange</option> </select> <br /> <input type="Submit" value="Add" name="Add" /> </p> </form> </body> </html> when the user chooses a color, it adds it to the session and then when the user clicks add, he is redirected to another page named a2.php which shows the color is added. if the user goes back to the original page and adds the same color again it shows that he added the item again: Color: ----------- Quantity: Red ----------- 2 a2.php Code: [Select] <?php session_start(); $item_id = $_GET[id]; $action = $_GET[action]; switch($action) { case "add": $_SESSION['color'][$item_id]++; break; case "remove": $_SESSION['color'][$item_id]--; if($_SESSION['color'][$item_id] == 0) unset($_SESSION['color'][$item_id]); break; case "empty": unset($_SESSION['color']); break; } ?> sorry if my question is not clear, any help is appreciated Thank You, I haven't used sessions much until now, so this is probably due to my ignorance. I have a page that sets the session variable, and if I print from that page, the session variable (an array) is correct. But when I move to the next page, the same session variable has old, old, wrong data. The $arrAttendeeList is an exploded list from a textarea on a form turned into an array. Example: This page, let's call it page1.php, sets the variable: Code: [Select] <?php $_SESSION['arrAttendeeList'] = $arrAttendeeList; foreach ($_SESSION['arrAttendeeList'] as $temp) { print "$temp <br />"; } exit; ?> Results: Smithers, Waylon Bouvier, Selma Brockman, Kent But the next page, page2.php, when I call the same variable: Code: [Select] <?php foreach ($_SESSION['arrAttendeeList'] as $temp) { print "<br />$temp <br>"; } ?> I get yesterday's data: Smithers, Waylon Bouvier, Selma I've tried setting the session var to null but with the same results. Do I need to kill the session var before setting it to something else? Thanks - How do you set a time limit on a session? I got a log-in form with database, it only logs if such username and password exists. I was told that if i wanna make a log-out button once logged-in, i need to add sessions to my code and idk how.. this is my code that checks if username/password exists, and if so it lets u log in, if not it displays a msg: if(isset($_POST['loginsubmit'])){ if($username !="" && $password !="") { ///////////////////////////////Check for username/pass in database//////////////////////////// $nameexists = false; $passexists = false; $result = pg_query("SELECT name FROM duom WHERE name='".$username."'"); while ($row = pg_fetch_array($result)) { if($row['name'] != ""){ $nameexists = true; } } if($nameexists) { $result = pg_query("SELECT pass FROM duom WHERE name='".$username."'"); while ($row = pg_fetch_array($result)) { if($row['pass'] == $password){ $passexists = true; echo "Prisijungimas pavyko, jusu vartotojo vardas - ".$username.""; include"loggedinform.php"; } else { echo "Slaptazodis netinka!"; } /////////////////Starts session if password is correct//////////////////////////////////////////// if ($passexists){ //Here i want it to start the session if password is correct } ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// } } else { echo "Tokio vartotojo nera!"; } ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// } else { echo "Uzpildykite visus duomenys!"; } } Cant i just make smth like this? if ($passexists){ session_start(); } Hi guys, I have come across a problem when working with session data, I have been storing data from a textarea in a session, but the problem is when I retrieve the data and display it back in a textarea or to mysql it saves the carriage returns and line breaks as \r\n not converting it to actual line breaks. e.g saving the following from a text area; Line 1 Line 2 Line 3 will actually show as: Line 1 \r\nLine 2 \r\nLine3 How do I get it to show properly as intended? I have tried str_replace('\r\n', '\n'); with double and single quotes any helpful suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.. I am trying to create a blog and visitor log, where I should be able to log in as admin and add the item and see the visitor log. I want a password protected administration section and I want to use sessions on the administration section. When I for example click on add post, I want it to log in and go to page addpost.php where I can enter my text. This is what I've done so far. I would like to know what I have done wrong and how I should do to accomplish what I have mentioned above. <?php session_start(); if(isset($_POST['btnLogin']) || isset($_POST['addpost'])){ $txtUserId = $_REQUEST['txtUserId']; $txtPassword = $_REQUEST['txtPassword']; if (isset($_POST['txtUserId']) && isset($_POST['txtPassword'])) { if ($_POST['txtUserId'] === 'admin' && $_POST['txtPassword'] === 'abc123') { //$_SESSION['basic_is_logged_in'] = true; echo "you are logged in"; } elseif (empty($txtUserId) || empty($txtPassword)) { echo "fill in username and password"; } elseif ($_POST['txtUserId'] != 'admin'){ echo "wrong username"; } elseif ($_POST['txtPassword'] != 'abc123'){ echo "wrong password"; } } } ?> <?php //if (!isset($_SESSION['basic_is_logged_in']) // || $_SESSION['basic_is_logged_in'] !== true) ?> <html> <head> <title>Main User Page</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> </head> <body> <form method="post" name="frmLogin" id="frmLogin" action="main.php"> <table width="400" border="1" align="center" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="2"> <tr> <td width="150">User Id</td> <td><input name="txtUserId" type="text" id="txtUserId"></td> </tr> <tr> <td width="150">Password</td> <td><input name="txtPassword" type="password" id="txtPassword"></td> </tr> <tr> <td><input type="submit" name="btnLogin" value="Login"></td> </tr> <tr> <td><input type="submit" name="addpost" value="add post" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td><input type="submit" name="showstat" value="Show visitors log" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td><input type="submit" name="blogg" value="To blog (logout)" /></td> </tr> </table> </form> </body> </html> Hello, Is there a problem in destroying a session and then starting it in the same file, for example: session_name(); session_start(); session_destroy(); And lastly, if I create a variable $_SESSION['user'] under a session called 'one' i.e. session_name("one") and then create another variable $_SESSION['user'] under a session called 'two' i.e. session_name("two"). Are these two variables the same? session_save_path("/home/content/q/1/w/q1w2e3r4t5y6u7/html/tmp/"); session_start(); I have this at the head of my index page. I'd like to count how many files are in temp to find out how many users are online. After going to my index page, i checked how many users were online via the script I wrote and it said 1. I refreshed the page and it said 2. It went as high as 10 with each refresh and then I stopped because something isn't right. I checked my temp folder and there are 10 temp files. How can one page visitor start so many unique sessions? Is there a way to prevent this? I'm using the session start command with dual purpose. One, if a user loads the page. Secondly, to check if $_SESSION['active'] exists so I know this is a registered user. How can i limit the amount of sessions started by an unknown user and efficiently count how many files are in the temp directory? I there. I am making a small game, either you or the computer win depending on who's life hit 0 first I am using sessions to hold the health values, however I need a little bit of help. Well I expected the id column to cascade down into this new table automatically which it didn't. RIght now if you log into my site and use the about me form, it posts to the new table "about_me" but it doesn't identify the user on the table with the primary key assigned to him from the first table (users). How do I use PHP sessions to identify the user by his/her id from the primary key in the table. I attached the whole site. The php for the log in is a prefab and I'm attempting to do the about me part on my own, I'm having alot of trouble with the whole sessions thing. I'm not really sure if I'm doing this correctly. so yeah any point in the right direction would be awesome! -Mike Hi all, If I have a list of session ids, is it possible to use this list to determine which session is no longer active? Seems like it should be do-able but can't find help on it so I'm kinda guessing its not! Thanks for any help, Michael |
