PHP - Php Multiple File Upload And Store The Path In Db
Hi Guys,
I need help for in storing data from PHP from array in mysql. I'm very new to PHP/Mysql and have started learing it just few weeks back. I'm tryting to build a website for myself. I'm having tough time trying to insert the data from Form in mysql. I have a form where user update the company name and insert there product name with there image. Is there a way to get the source path for an uploaded file? It seems that's a function of the browser and the two I've tried FF and Safari don't return it in $_FILES['file']['name']. Everything I have found is about uploading multile files, what I need to do is upload one file and copy it so there is 3 files. Here is an example of what I need to accomplish. Upload file picture1.jpg From picture1.jpg create 3 files - smallimage_picture1.jpg, largeimage_picture1.jpg & smallimage_picture1_thumb.jpg Each file will need to be copied to a /products directory and also an entry for each file name placed in mysql database table. In my input form, I need to store information from text fields, and I need to upload an image to the server and store the path in the database. Before I can even start to code this (although I have coded the input forum without the upload), I need to know what would be the best way to do this. I guess there are several ways.. What would the expert do (That's you right?)? Should I have the information input, and image upload in the same form, or should I make a second form (maybe on a different page) for the upload? Is it necessary with two tables, one for the info and one for the image path, and then tie them together with the imageID, or is it fine to use just one table? Currently the folder sits within my webroot and is publicly accessible (I have to use chmod 777 due to permissions issue). So, I created the "attachments" folder outside of my webroot (so that it is not publicly accessible), but I do not know how to set the path in the PHP code to upload it to that "attachments" folder outside of the webroot. Thanks Brett I have a made a section on my site where I can upload files to a specific directory, rename them and delete them. So I don't have to go through a FTP program. When renaming and deleting a file I connect using FTP commands with PHP, except when uploading. When uploading it gets the file that has been uploaded from the form on the page before which has its own code using <input type="file"> to search for a local file, then when submit is clicked it uploads it. Then on my PHP script it moves that file from the temp upload folder to the actual site. Bottom line is, is there any way I can make a button that opens a file browser on the users PC and returns the filepath chosen? So I can use FTP to upload the file rather than the form? So i set the location of the file somehow via the form and the client just has to click submit and it will automatcially upload the file from the path i have set. skipping the browse for file process.
