PHP - Php Calendar Running From Mysql Database
I am trying to create a calendar of Events for my company's website. When I search for this type of calendar, I can find code that runs the calendar from one Events table. However, we could have an Event that has multiple performances. (For example, Lily Tomlin could be performing at the Atwood Concert Hall in Anchorage on 09/09/11 and at the Vagabond Blues in Palmer on 09/10/11.) So we have two tables to draw the information from: Events and Performance
I can successfully create a MySQL query (see below) with PHP coding that will make a listing (as demostrated on our website http://www.centertix.net/). Code: [Select] "SELECT Events.PublishDate, Events.EventOnSaleDate, Events.BldgContractDate, Events.SetUpComplete, Events.EventTitle, Performance.PerfID, Performance.startDateTime, Performance.endDateTime, Performance.PerfType, venues.VenueName, venues.VenueCode FROM (Performance RIGHT JOIN Events ON Performance.EventID = Events.EventID) LEFT JOIN venues ON Performance.VenueCode = venues.VenueCode WHERE Events.BldgContractDate Is Not Null AND Events.SetUpComplete Is Not Null AND Performance.PerfType='Public Event'"However, I'm not advanced enough to create the if-clause or while-loop to check to see if the Performance.startDate = the calendar's date and then place the info into the appropriate calendar grid box. I think have determined where it should be place in my PHP code, but need help getting the calendar to work. Here's the code where I think it should go: Code: [Select] for($list_day = 1; $list_day <= $days_in_month; $list_day++): if(($list_day == date("j",mktime(0,0,0,$this->month))) && (date("F") == date("F",mktime(0,0,0,$this->month))) && (date("Y") == date("Y",mktime(0,0,0,$this->month,$list_day,$this->year)))) { $this->calendar.= '<td class="'. $this->style .'-current-day">'; } else { if(($running_day == "0") || ($running_day == "6")) { $this->calendar.= '<td class="'. $this->style .'-weekend-day">'; } else { $this->calendar.= '<td class="'. $this->style .'-day">'; } } /* add in the day number */ $this->calendar.= '<div class="'. $this->style .'-day-number">'.$list_day.'</div>'; /** QUERY THE DATABASE FOR AN ENTRY FOR THIS DAY !! IF MATCHES FOUND, PRINT THEM !! **/ $this->calendar.= '<div class="'. $this->style .'-text"><a href="">PERFORMANCE INFO</a></div>'. "\n"; /** QUERY THE DATABASE FOR AN ENTRY FOR THIS DAY !! IF NO MATCHES FOUND, PRINT NOTHING !! **/ $this->calendar.= str_repeat('<p> </p>',2); $this->calendar.= '</td>'; if($running_day == 6): $this->calendar.= '</tr>'; if(($day_counter+1) != $days_in_month): $this->calendar.= '<tr class="'. $this->style .'-row">'; endif; $running_day = -1; $days_in_this_week = 0; endif; $days_in_this_week++; $running_day++; $day_counter++; endfor; Please help me plug the calendar in with the appropriate events! Basically it should look like this when written out to the webpage: Time Mon Tues Wed Thur Fri Sat 8:00 data data2 9:30 data3 data4 10:00 data5 data6 11:00 data7 data8 The times on the left will vary each month, and the 'data' (these are actually fitness classes held each month) will appear on various days of the week. There is no need to toggle from one month to the next and such, it's just a listing of the current month to display the classes held on which days and at which times. Very easy to do statically in html, but a bit more challenging dynamically. Using MySQL, the table that holds the data looks like this: Code: [Select] schedule_id class_time class_title day_order 1 08:00 data 1 2 08:00 data2 3 3 09:30 data3 2 4 09:30 data4 4 5 10:00 data5 3 6 10:00 data6 5 7 11:00 data7 1 8 11:00 data8 3 The day_order field corresponds to the weekday - Mon is 1, Tues is 2, etc. My query looks like this: Code: [Select] SELECT schedule_id, class_time, class_title, day_orderFROM `class_schedule` order by class_time, day_order Here is the html/ php code to write it out: Code: [Select] <table border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0" width="625"> <tr> <td class="calheader">Time</td> <td class="calheader">Mon</td> <td class="calheader">Tue</td> <td class="calheader">Wed</td> <td class="calheader">Thu</td> <td class="calheader">Fri</td> <td class="calheader">Sat</td> <td class="calheader">Sun</td> </tr> <? $i=0; $first_time = ""; while($i<$num_rows){ $sid = mysql_result($sql,$i,"schedule_id"); $ctime = mysql_result($sql,$i,"class_time"); $cdate = mysql_result($sql,$i,"CURDATE()"); $strtime = date("h:i:s",$cdate.$ctime); $ctitle = stripslashes(mysql_result($sql,$i,"class_title")); $order = mysql_result($sql,$i,"day_order"); if ($ctime != $first_time){ if (isset($first_time)){ echo ""; } if ($first_time == ""){ echo "<tr>\n"; echo "<td class=\"timecell\">". $ctime ."</td>\n"; } $first_time = mysql_result($sql,$i,"class_time"); } $j = 1; while ($j<8 && $first_time != ""){ if ($order == $j){ $thetitle = $ctitle; } else { $thetitle = " "; } echo "<td class=\"calcell\">". $thetitle ."</td>\n"; $j++; } unset($first_time); if (!isset($first_time)) { echo "</tr>\n"; } $i++; } unset($ctitle); unset($thetitle); unset($weekday); unset($sid); unset($clink); unset($order); mysql_close(); The above code sort of works, but the trouble I am having is that it is creating a new table row for each class, even if they occur at the same time slot. It should be putting them on the same row, to the right of the time slot across the days of the week. If anyone could assist, that would be wonderful - I am really stuck with this... However it is not. I placed echo statements to see where it was getting to in the database interaction portion of the code but no dice. Any help is apreciated, thanks in advance. hi, does anyone have a way to take data from mysql and instert it into outlook or blackberry calendar? Hey, I am a bit of a noob at php/mysql and trying to be clever(emphasis on trying). I want to pull some php/html code from a database in mysql, whilst it does display the html, the php does not. Can this even be done? Is it going to cause me issues later on? Code: [Select] [php] <?php $query = "SELECT * FROM pages"; $result = mysql_query($query) or die(mysql_error()); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)){ $body = $row["body"]; echo $body; }?> [/php] Any help would really be appreciated. Ell My my.cnf file has three sections (mysqld, mysqld_safe, mysql). It seems that they represent different modes which MySQL runs in. Is this correct? I read that some recommend running in safe mode. Should I be if it is being used to support PHP? I typically start MySQL as "service mysqld start" when running Centos. How should I be starting it if I want it in safe mode. Hi i was wondering what im doing wrong, im trying to insert a query for submit button, it works if i run it straight in mysql, but not working when linked through php. Im just doing it for testing purpose right now only, so when i see that it works i will use another query. here it is Code: [Select] <?php include('config.php'); if($_SESSION['username']){ if(isset($_POST['ASubmit'])){ $query3=("update country set Status='test1' where Uname='Mclovin'");} echo '<td><form name="test" method="post" form id="form1"><label for="test">Status</label> <select name="Status"> <option value="">-----</option> <option value="In process" '.(($row['Status']=='In process')?'selected="selected"':'').'>In process</option> <option value="Approved" '.(($row['Status']=='Approved')?'selected="selected"':'').'>Approved</option> <option value="Denied" '.(($row['Status']=='Denied')?'selected="selected"':'').'>Denied</option> </select><input name="ASubmit" type="submit" value="Update">'; echo $row{'Status'}.'</td></form>'; } ?> Hi Guys, first time poster, so I hope I have it in the right category. I've used a program called Training Peaks for years, great program and it does cost a few $$'s. I'm also going through the Php MySQL learning curve and thought why not build something basic that I could use rather than TP. I've been dabbling with php/mysql for a few years, nothing serious and have been looking at a few core calendar codes like Ajax, Lavarel and one built on html5. I was curious with your knowledge what might be the best way to look at this project (attachment). In a nut shell the option to create a session (training session) it this case, it for Triathlon (swim, bike & run) ability to set a session time, date, distance and maybe some notes. TP has a lot more data that feeds from Garmin data, that's a bit over my head at the moment, so ignore TSS IF's etc The attachment is the calendar in the back ground with the individual session open, again a lot more data there than what I need. Google calendar was an option, but why not make it fun and learn something! Thanks in advance.
Has anyone done this before? i have the following VERY basic looking calendar to display the current month and <strong> on the current date; <?php /* Set the default timezone */ date_default_timezone_set("Europe/London"); /* Set the date */ $date = strtotime(date("Y-m-d")); $day = date('d', $date); $month = date('m', $date); $year = date('Y', $date); $firstDay = mktime(0,0,0,$month, 1, $year); $title = strftime('%B', $firstDay); $dayOfWeek = date('D', $firstDay); $daysInMonth = cal_days_in_month(0, $month, $year); /* Get the name of the week days */ $timestamp = strtotime('next Sunday'); $weekDays = array(); for ($i = 0; $i < 7; $i++) { $weekDays[] = strftime('%a', $timestamp); $timestamp = strtotime('+1 day', $timestamp); } $blank = date('w', strtotime("{$year}-{$month}-01")); ?> <table class='cal-table cal-table-bordered' border=1 style='table-layout: fixed;'> <tr> <th colspan='7' class='cal-text-center'> <?php echo $title ?> <?php echo $year ?> </th> </tr> <tr> <?php foreach($weekDays as $key => $weekDay) : ?> <td class='cal-text-center"'><?php echo $weekDay ?></td> <?php endforeach ?> </tr> <tr class='cal-row'> <?php for($i = 0; $i < $blank; $i++): ?> <td></td> <?php endfor; ?> <?php for($i = 1; $i <= $daysInMonth; $i++): ?> <?php if($day == $i): ?> <?php //database code here ?> <td><strong><?php echo $i ?></strong></td> <?php else: ?> <td><?php echo $i ?></td> <?php endif; ?> <?php if(($i + $blank) % 7 == 0): ?> </tr><tr class='cal-row'> <?php endif; ?> <?php endfor; ?> <?php for($i = 0; ($i + $blank + $daysInMonth) % 7 != 0; $i++): ?> <td></td> <?php endfor; ?> </tr> </table> how can i get data into this calendar from my 'events' table, to perhaps highlight the date of the event and show a hidden <DIV> when rollover. i have columns: 'eventStart' and 'eventEnd' and 'eventName' in the 'events' table. or shall i look for something else? this has to be super simple with no backend or multiple files being used etc..
thanks Hi All, I have a form that enables the user to know events that occur in a specific city. Most of the time they get the results in a few seconds, despite the fact that many rows in various tables might be searched for detailed infos about the events in that city. However, this form partly relies on a table against which a MySQL event regularly does some operations. If the user uses the form while the event is being executed, they have to wait up to 30 seconds before getting the results, and sometimes only part of the html page is generated. Is there a way to avoid this lengthy waiting time ? I am wondering whether or not the best would be putting the site on maintenance while the event is being executed, with a "please come back in a few minutes" message. Thanks in advance for your help. I am creating a site to display some products. For ease of updating I want it to run off a MySQL database. I have created the database and php scripts to output and input data etc. I know want to show that data in my web pages. My question is.... Is it best to insert HTML into the php output script to display the information and make the site look how I want....OR ....... should I create a template of the site in HTML and then somehow call the php output script (and the particular row of the database...) Basically... should I put the html code into the php - OR - put the php into the HTML?? I hope this make sense...... thanks At the moment I am creating a search function for my website. The approach I have in mind is a pseudo-PHP database. To give an example: A HTML form will submit the results to a PHP file. HTML FORM - Colour: Black PHP RESULT PAGE - if ($_POST['color'] == 'Black') {readfile("./products/black/*.html");} HTML FORM - Price: <$50 PHP RESULT PAGE - if ($_POST['Price'] == '<$50') {readfile("./products/less50/*.html");} The problem here is if there is an item that is black and costs less than $50, then its going to be listed twice. There is probably some code I can write to ommit the listing of duplicate entries, but it is probably going to be messy, so I am wondering if its better to use a centralized MySQL database, rather than a pseudo-PHP database? I've never used MySQL and don't know much about it and this is my first real attempt at using PHP. How would I go about doing the following: I have a csv like this Quote "Division","Section","Group","Product Code","Description","Description + Secondary Description" "Division 1","Section 1","Group 1","BMSLPL25","Test Name","Test Description" "Division 1","Section 1","Group 2","BMSLPL26","Test Name 2","Test Description 2" "Division 2","Section 2","Group 2","BMSLPL27","Test Name 3","Test Description 3" I have a database structured like this Quote Divisions --- id name parent_id Groups --- id name division_id Products --- id code description secondary_description Section is a sub division. What is the best way to get the information from CSV into this database? Should I have another table and store the CSV data as is and then query that to make the other tables. Any help much appreciated. Hello, I've been having trouble connecting to a MySQL database, I can't find the problem in the code, what am I doing wrong? Getting the database file in the config file : require_once("db_connect.php"); db_connect.php : <?php $db = mysql_connect('83.172.155.14:3306', 'username', 'password') or die(mysql_error()); mysql_select_db('databasename', $db) or die(mysql_error()); ?> I need to connect to a PhpMyAdmin database. I need this fixed asap since I'm doing this for someone and he wants the site done as quickly as possible. P.S: The database used to work in php4 and now I need it to work on php5 Thanks in advance, Hi, I wonder if you could help me try to find what i'm looking for, i have a problem with bogus users on my site. I created a register page where the details are sent to the database, this is fine but someone is registering with the username: 1 and password: 1 multiple times. I have about 50 of these now and i would like to know what to actually search for (how to word it) to find out how to stop this? What would be the name of the script? i've looked for fake username script, multiple username/password prevention script, i'm just not getting it, sorry. If any of you have any ideas i'd like to hear from you, many thanks in advance for that. If you need anymore to go on please ask, once again thank you. Ok, I got someone to help me fix this but he had no idea what the error was... I have 2 tables, one called points and the other called members. In members i have got: id name In points i have got: id memberid promo I have the following code: Code: [Select] <?php $con = mysql_connect("localhost","slay2day_User","slay2day"); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("slay2day_database",$con); $sqlquery="SELECT Sum(points.promo) AS score, members.name, members.id = points.memberid Order By members.name ASC"; $result=mysql_query($sqlquery,$con); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { //get data $id = $row['id']; $name = $row['name']; $score = $row['score']; echo "<b>Name:</b> $name<br />"; echo "<b>Points: </b> $score<br />" ; echo "<b>Rank: </b>"; if ($name == 'Kcroto1'): echo 'The Awesome Leader'; else: if ($points >= '50'): echo 'General'; elseif ($points >= '20'): echo 'Captain!'; elseif ($points >= '10'): echo 'lieutenant'; elseif ($points >= '5'): echo 'Sergeant'; elseif ($points >= '2'): echo 'Corporal'; else: echo 'Recruit'; endif; endif; echo '<br /><br />'; } ?> I am getting the following error when i do the query in mysql: Code: [Select] #1109 - Unknown table 'points' in field list And when i open the webpage i get the following error: Code: [Select] Warning: mysql_fetch_array() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in /home/slay2day/public_html/points/members.php on line 18 Please Help me? Okay, I have been following this tutorial: http://www.freewebmasterhelp.com/tutorials/phpmysql/1 to achieve exactly what I wanted to get done. I also followed the way to have it formatted in tables and added extra columns that I needed, included an "Options" column which houses three links, including "edit" and "delete" Now, I have everything working fine but I am stumped on how to get the "edit" and "delete" links to work for each individual entry that is listed. I have to have these features so the entries can be edited and deleted without having to physically go into the MySQL database to do it. The tutorial explains how to do it in Step 6, but I am confused. I'm not quite sure where to place the code for the links, which are generated automatically every time a new entry is inputted into the database. Anybody available to help me out? Thanks! Hi, I cant connect to my Mysql database.
