PHP - Including Files From Other Directories.
Hello everyone,
This is a fairly simple question, but the explanation of the question isn't... I'll do my best. I have a site where my folders/sub-folders/files are arranged similar to this: _ Root Folder -| Root-IncludeFile1.php | Root-IncludeFile2.php | _ | Sub-Folder 1 -| Sub1-File1.php | |_Sub1-File2.php | _ | Sub-Folder 2 -| Sub2-File1.php | |_Sub2-File2.php | _ |_Sub-Folder 3 -| Sub3-IncludeFile1.php |_Sub3-IncludeFile2.php Hopefully that makes sense to everyone. Anyway, I know that to include a file that is in the root folder in file in a sub-folder, I can do this - include("../includefile1.php"); -but I'm trying to include a file that is in a sub folder in a file that is in another sub-folder. For example, I'm trying to include "Sub3-IncludeFile1.php" in "Sub-File1.php" I'm lost on this because I can't get it to work. I'm not getting any error messages except to say that the variables located in the file that should be included are not found. I've tried to do this: include("http://www.mysite.com/Sub-Folder3/Sub3-IncludeFile1.php"); and it doesn't work. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance for your help. Similar TutorialsHey I have this code which works fine, it echos the file names from a directory into a dropdown box how can I change it to include more then one directory <?php $dirname = "../images/staff"; $dir = opendir($dirname); echo '<select name="file2">'; echo '<option value="">none</option>'; while(false != ($file = readdir($dir))) { if(($file != ".") and ($file != "..")) { echo "<option value=".$file.">$file</option>"; } } echo '</select>'; ?> I tried this but it didnt work any help <?php $dirname = "../images/staff"; $dirname .= "../images/boarddirectors"; $dir = opendir($dirname); echo '<select name="file2">'; echo '<option value="">none</option>'; while(false != ($file = readdir($dir))) { if(($file != ".") and ($file != "..")) { echo "<option value=".$file.">$file</option>"; } } echo '</select>'; ?> Hello I have a problem. I have been trying to copy my music folders structure but not copying the mp3s; instead using the file names as a file name for a .txt file and inserting the URL to the file in the .txt file. Eg. E:\My Music folder 1 folder 1.1 file.mp3 folder 2 folder 3 to G:\My Music folder 1 folder 1.1 file.txt folder 2 folder 3 and inside "file.txt" would be one line saying "http://www.xxx.com/my_music/file.mp3 I must be brain dead...I've searched everywhere and can't seem to find a snippet for this. I'm just looking for some code to show a directory listing, but only certain files (by extension) and I don't want to show any sub-directories. I thought I might have been able to do this in the .htaccess file, but I can't find anything that will get rid of the sub-directories. So, I figure there must be a way to get a file listing, check the extension, add it to the page, or skip it if it's a sub-directory or doesn't match the extension. Or, I could just be totally, way off...anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated...I'm fairly new to php. I am making a framework for my site, and I have a folder which defines some things. One thing it defines is the location of the frame work: define('FRAMEWORK', '../../../framework'); Next I include a specific class that I include: include FRAMEWORK.'/commons/Music.php'; This class extends the main framework include '../Weblyize.php'; class Music extends Weblyize{ // Some code } This issue I am currently having is Warning: include(../Weblyize.php) the file Weblyize.php is a directory above Music.php So, here is where the webpage is located: http://96.42.108.211:3333/templates/music/music1/about.php Here is where the two classes are located (sub classes are in commons) http://96.42.108.211:3333/framework/Weblyize.php http://96.42.108.211:3333/framework/commons/Music.php What is a good way to link the files together with out this breaking no matter where the framework directory is located? I have a class which loads language files and adds the content(which is an array) into a phrases array. It's performed perfectly when i included common_lang.php and login_lang.php. However when i include common_lang.php and profiles_lang.php something weird happens. I have a blank space at the top of the profile pages. And firebug reports that the content of <head> is now empty and its shifted all of it to the <body>. Like i say this only happens when including profiles_lang.php but works with other files like login_lang.php. The content of each language file is the same apart from the data in the array. $l = array( 'USERNAME' => 'Username', ); this is the language class which is being called in profiles.php like Asf_Language::loadFile('profiles'); The same call is used in other pages replacing 'profiles' with the name of the language file to call. <?php /* ASF A Simple Forum * (c) ASF A Simple Forum 2010 - 2011 * * @licence http://www.asimpleforum.co.uk/licence * * $page includes/languageClass.php * $author Carl Markham * $created 14/06/2011 */ class Asf_Language { public static $lang; public static $phrases = array(); public static $loaded_langs = array(); public function __construct($default) { $this->setLang($default); self::loadFile('common'); } public static function setLang($lang) { self::$lang = $lang; } public static function getLang() { return $lang; } public static function loadFile($file) { $include = dirname(dirname(dirname(__FILE__))).'/languages/'.self::$lang.'/'.$file.'_lang.php'; if(file_exists($include)) { include($include); self::$loaded_langs[] = $file; foreach($l as $key => $val) { self::$phrases[$key] = $val; } } else { echo 'File '.$include.' does not exist'; } return; } public static function getLoadedLanguages() { return implode(', ',self::$loaded_langs); } } Anyone have any ideas why the head is being emptied when this file is being included? Hi all, I've got two scripts for my website which I would like to display on one page, but what i've got is, The Menu on one php file, and the content on a different php file. Ive tryed the include, include_once, require, require_once, but for which ever one I use it just displace a blank page with nothing on it. Both of the files work on there on, but when I include the menu to the content page it just dont show anything. This is what ive tryed: <?php include ("crewtop.php"); if ($crewstuff->boss == $username || $crewstuff->coowner == $username || $crewstuff->underboss == $username){ ?> <table width='80%' align='center' class='table' cellpadding='0' cellspacing='0' border='1'> <tr> <td class='header' colspan='4' align='center'>Current Crew Members</td> </tr> <tr> <td class='omg' align='center' width='25%'>Username</td><td class='omg' align='center' width='25%'>Rep</td><td class='omg' align='center' width='25%'>Rank</td><td class='omg' width='25%' align='center'>Kick</td> </tr> This seems a easy thing to sort, just I carnt see why it isnt displaying the other file.. Anyone see why? Thanks. (if more code is needed i'll display more) I came accross this code on YouTube and it works great for listing the content of a folder that the .php file is in. However, how can I alter this code to list files of all folders and sub-folders? I thought plugging in an asterik might work on the "$path =" line, but it didn't. Code: [Select] <?php $path = "."; $handle = opendir($path); while ($file = readdir($handle)) { echo $file . "<br>"; } closedir($handle); ?> I am developing a CMS for my clients where the login to administrate their website is through my own website. This unified back-end allows me to develop the functionality and user experience without the issue of updating each site manually with the new files or running a complicated macro etc and then uploading them all individually too. I would also like to combine as much of the "client side" CMS code too, i.e. as many of the php files that are stored on the clients website as possible. All of the websites (and the backend website) are located on the same VPS, running PHP V5.3, allow_url_include is not available, I could have it turned on but this causes security issues if I understand correctly? I figure my main options a - Turn on allow_url_include and just include via IP/Domain. - Use a FTP system similar to the way Wordpress allows remote install of plugins and system updates. or - Include the files using a different /home/username/cmsincludes/ path? Is it possible to use another VPS account to include from? I have tested and it gives me a "failed to open stream" error. Example: Client xyz Website Website located: /home/xyz/public_html/ CMS Included: /home/mainsite/cms/ Client 123 Website Website located: /home/123/public_html/ CMS Included: /home/mainsite/cms/ Client xxx Website Website located: /home/xxx/public_html/ CMS Included: /home/mainsite/cms/ I am using the following code: Code: [Select] <?php $target = "images/"; $target = $target . basename( $_FILES['uploaded']['name']) ; $ok=1; if(move_uploaded_file($_FILES['uploaded']['tmp_name'], $target)) { echo "The file ". basename( $_FILES['uploadedfile']['name']). " has been uploaded"; } else { echo "Sorry, there was a problem uploading your file."; } ?> I am using this to upload photos to the directory called 'images'. How could I change this code so that I can choose an existing directory to upload it to and also create a new directory to upload it to if I wanted? So I have a simple template that I want to be the index page of the website that I'm working on, however, I don't want to have to create several almost identical files for each of the directories.
Is there perhaps anyway that I can change the content of the main div yet the address be a different directory.
So for example, this is the main index page:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <head> <title>Matthew Noskiw's website - Home</title> <link rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' href='./inc/CSS/styles/default.css' /> <link rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' href='./inc/CSS/static/navigation.css' /> </head> <body> <div id='Container'> <div id='Header'> <div class='right'> <ul id='Navigation'> <li id='NavButton' class='active'><a href='./'>Home</a></li> <li id='NavButton'><a href='./about'>About</a></li> <li id='NavButton'><a href='./blog'>Blog</a></li> <li id='NavButton'><a href='./contact'>Contact</a></li> </ul> </div> <span>noskiw.co.uk</span> </div> <hr /> <div id='MainContent'> <h2>Home</h2> <br /> <span> Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. What I want to happen is that when I change the page, for example, go to /about I want it to read <h2>About</h2>. I have 4 different pages for this so far, is there any way to get it down to just one yet they be in different directories? P.S The reason this is in the PHP Help section is because I assumed that it would more than likely be something to do with PHP. Edited by ghostrider1337, 02 August 2014 - 02:36 PM. Hey guys does anyone know of a good dynamic directory solution? What i mean by this is when i am creating an application and i use require_once 'includes/config.php'; and then i create a class that needs the config file so i include it into the class like so: require_once '../include/config.php'; then i make a new folder named member then i have to require this class (created above) and it fails to find the directory. What would be a good solution for this? Thanks guys!! I have one input upload and need it to go to two directories here is my upload code that handles the move_upload_file portion. Code: [Select] move_uploaded_file($_FILES['fillPDF']['tmp_name'], $strNewsPath . $strFilename); Thanks in advance. My absolute hosting path is /home/content/52/8840652/html if this would be of any use. I'm not quite sure about the PHP include functions. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks! Here is my code which i use to recieve uploaded files.
$filepath = $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] . "file/"; $fileunzippath = $filepath."unzipped/"; $exclude_list = array(".", "..", "...", "index.php", ".php", ".htaccess"); if($_FILES["zip_file"]["name"]) { $filename = $_FILES["zip_file"]["name"]; $source = $_FILES["zip_file"]["tmp_name"]; $type = $_FILES["zip_file"]["type"]; $name = explode(".", $filename); $accepted_types = array('application/zip', 'application/x-zip-compressed', 'multipart/x-zip', 'application/x-compressed'); foreach($accepted_types as $mime_type) { if($mime_type == $type) { $okay = true; break; } } $continue = strtolower($name[1]) == 'zip' ? true : false; if(!$continue) { $message = "The file you are trying to upload is not a .zip file. Please try again."; } }Specifically i want to highlight this part: $exclude_list; $dir_path = $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT']; $dir_path .= "/file/unzipped/"; $directories = array_diff(scandir($fileunzippath.$clean_name), $exclude_list); foreach($directories as $entry) { if(is_dir($dir_path.$entry)) { if($entry != 'part0' || $entry !='part1') { rmdir($entry); } } }When I upload a zip file containing 2 directories(one called 'part0', and one called 'bad'), they get unzipped correctly and it gives no errors, however the fake directories(not called part0 or part1) I put in there are still there. Any Help? I am a php newb. I have 2 somewhat simple problems. First I have a huge list of movies that I would like sorted in a drop down list alphabetically. I already have the drop down list made and the movies show up correctly. But I cannot figure out how to sort the list. Here is the code <?php $dir="/backup/Movies"; if ($handle = opendir($dir)) { while (false !== ($file = readdir($handle))) { if ($file != "." && $file != ".." && $file != "index.php") { $thelist .= '<option>'.$file.'</option>'; } } closedir($handle); } ?> <form action="listen.php" method="post" name="table"> <select name="Movie"> <P><?=$thelist?></p>' </select> </form> Second problem is inside this directory there are a few other directories is it possible to make the directories show at the top instead of them being sorted alphabetically with the movies. Thanks in advance Jake i need to convert the following path Code: [Select] $url=http://www.test.com/images/1/7/4/7/9/thumb.jpg to Code: [Select] $updated_url= /home/vhosts/test.com/httpdocs/images/1/7/4/7/9/thumb.jpgThe directories in the url are created dynamically Right now what i am doin is Code: [Select] $updated_url='/home/vhosts/'.$url.'/httpdocs/images/'.basename($url)which gives me /home/vhosts/test.com/httpdocs/images/thumb. But I also need to get the directories 1/7/4/7/9. It may be differ for different urls. Can this be done through some form of string replacement or pattern matching method? This topic has been moved to mod_rewrite. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=321151.0 I have written a piece of code that create a directories, files on the server using mkdir and touch and also inserts the form data into the table.. the code gets executed and the info gets stored in the database but the part which has the create directories. and files dont work as it doesnt create the directory and files on the server.. do i need to make changes to the php.ini file to enable the mkdir and touch feature to get enabled? as i said the code executes without any error..
