PHP - What Do I Need To Research To Make Php Setup A Specific User Only Chatroom?

Hello. I'm a newbie so sorry if this isn't the best forum to post my problem.   I am using a MySQL and PHP to create a web app. I have authentication, and I can register users. I also have a form that users provide information and it is successfully inserting data into a table in my database.   I will use fictional fields for my database table called meal_info:   username dateStartedDiet numberMealsPerDay costPerMeal   Problem: Select user-specific data from the MySQL database, using Session username to select only the current user's data, then display it and do some calculations.   Here is thecode at the top, and I am fairly sure it's working:   session_start(); //execute commone code require("common.php"); //includes code to connect to database, etc. if(empty($_SESSION['user']))

I have created a session based logon system using php and MYSQL from some tutorials I found online which is working very successfully. I can log on and of and move through different pages with no problems.

My query is how do I output or display the information that is specific to the user which is currently logged on and block access to any other users information. I am quite sure there is a simple solution that is escaping me.

If you could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,   First of all I'd like to say thank you for all the great information on the forums, I've been reading a lot on here lately.   I've started to make a website where users can log in and submit items to a database, which is then displayed on another page. If Tom and Bill both post 10 items, all 20 items will be displayed on the "listings" page, however on the main log in screen Tom will only see his own 10 items and Bill will see his own 10 items.   This is all working perfectly, however, I now need to add a delete button so that they can delete specific items. I have loosely followed this tutorial here to get the table to display as I want it (amongst a few other things, such as the user logins) http://www.wickham43...mphptomysql.php I've added the delete button in the PHP loop for each row, I just can't figure out how to delete the specific row when clicked.   Any help would be really appreciated

I'm trying to figure out what way it's the best way to pull info belonging to a specific user based on whether he's a logged-in "member", and want to make sure he's not able to access any other member's details... would the best way be to try to match the user's "username" stored in a $_SESSION when fetching his info, something like this:

Hi guys, in my database i have the table called users, where i have 5 fields (id, username, email, password, user_level) - for the user_level field i have 2 options administrator and editor.   What i want to do is that when the user who is logged in have administrator in the user_level field to see all the pages from backend, and the user who have in the user_level field editor to see only some of the pages from the backend such as newsletter, or messages.   I hope you understand what i'm asking if not fell free to ask me if you need more specific details.   I tried to make a php page called access.php wher i put the following code, but not working

I am not sure if the title is correct; I tried my best. I'm a PHP/MySQL beginner and I really need some help. I have a small script that I am using for sending SMS. I recently added a phonebook. The problem with the phonebook right now is that it's available to all users, i.e. they can all update and delete all rows. What I would like to do is make it so that each user can update and delete only their own contacts. I have a table call contacts. Inside that table there is first name, last name, company and phonenumber. How can I accomplish this with PHP & MySQL?

So I'm trying to make an online quiz where the user can 'take the quiz' or go to 'module' where the user can edit the quiz. I've tried for days to search through the net for this particular one but I can't find any solutions.

For the quiz I made a comma delimited text file and tried to use that file to make a multidimensional array.
So far I only have the following:

Question page: Questions only show up one by one.

Answer page: Once submit is hit, the page goes here, where the user can see whether they answered right or wrong.

ex.) INCORRECT

       Your answer: a.) a human
       Correct answer: b.) a pet

       (continue link)

Note that when 'continue' is hit, the page redirects back to the 'question page' but this time outputs the next question. When no more questions are available, the page automatically redirects to the 'results page'.

Results page: Table of results


For the module

Main: A table of the available questions plus their choice answers

ex.)

etc.

Each row can be selected through a radio button. (so we know which question to edit)

Select option: Drop down list whether to 'add', 'edit' or 'delete' a question. Each choice directs to a different page where you can perform the action. Also, if 'delete' is chosen, a confirmation page should show up. (i.e are you sure you want to delete this file?)


I think that's detailed enough, I'm so sorry for the trouble;;
but please if you don't have the time to help me throughout the whole thing, please help me figure out how to use the text file as a multi-dim array (aka the first thing I asked). I've been dying to know how to do it but I just can't get it to work so I'd really appreciate that!

Is it correct if i prepare a table in MYSQL, php script to submit whatever words typed and use AJAX to refresh every second to be sure that all input displayed

I'm helping a friend in developing a project for our alma mater. And its based on this paper: An Enhanced Indoor Positioning Method Based on Wi-Fi RSS Fingerprinting

So far 80% of the web app is finished except for the algorithm (We have no experience with algorithms to source code translations) that needs to be implemented in the website. Inside this paper there is this algorithm that the proponents of the research used. (attached as screenshot).

The algorithm was converted to code by using MATLAB, but we are trying to use PHP with our project. Based on the pseudo code the calculation of the Euclidean Distance is the core of it. Can anyone help us with the translation just to get it started.

For some reason, its stuck on displaying 9 articles but I want to be able to control how many I want. I may want to choose 17 or whatever etc, not sure how to add it into the php.

I want to know, how I can include only the elements the user selected in my SQL query.
Lets say, User wants to find the Electrical workers in QLD, then he will select Yes for Electrical and QLD as Main Location and the other items he would not touch.
Now, how can I include only those two values in the select clause.
Say, Select Electrical, Main Location from table where Main location='QLD'.
I used POST method to gather users input. I use PHP, MySQL for this project.
Any ideas on how to achieve this.

I have a couple of questions that I hope anyone can answer.

I am making a form that is storing the information in a database, and in this form I also want images to be uploaded.
I want to make a function that allows the user to upload as many images as they would like to have in their ad on my website, and I also need something that can handle the upload process, and see how many images the user is trying to upload. Any easy solutions for this?

I also have another question:
As you can see on the example image underneath this text, I have a form with multiple inputs where the user is suppose to choose how many inputs they want to fill in themself.
How should I store this information in the database, and how can I make a script that detects how many of the forms the user actually filled?

Hi guys, I've got a snippet of code that's supposed to make a new directory with the user's unique ID (member_id) in the database. I have the code here but I get a myriad of errors including the infamous "at line 1 error, and the directory does not create. Please help me!!
