PHP - Display Partial Array
$color=array("01 orange","02 blue","03 red");
If my array was structured this way where the first two characters represented a code, how would I be able to display the code and color distinctly? Similar TutorialsHi I am trying to search an array that comes from a power shell script, the array of strings that returns is ever changing as it receives variables from the script. Therefore I need to use preg_grep to search for the word "not" I am also using another array which inverts this I then need to compare these new two arrays to the original and separate the results $working and not working into a table. I would be most grateful for any advice/solutions. The preg_grep aren't displaying anything.

I have a array of file path strings and trying to search the array for a string that would be the end of the path sting and return the index of the file path that contains the string. I've tried using something like this, but it finds the keyword in anyplace in the file path. I've also tried strripos() as well with the same results. Any suggestions? function array_search_partial($arr, $keyword) { foreach ($arr as $index => $string) { if(strpos($string, $keyword) !== FALSE) { return $index; } } }
Hello all, I need to make a rotating banner system for a client. They want about 5 banners to rotate with Javascript. However they want the visitor to sort of step through each one on each refresh. So if I have 5 banners and I go to the site, I see banner 1 and then the javascript rotates through each one. When I go back to the site, they want it to start with banner 2 and then the javascript will rotate through each one. Then on and on. Go back and see banner 3, then step through again. I have a nice Javascript image slider I'd like to use. It basically just requires the images in order. Like: I've thought about it and I think the best way to do this would just be using PHP and a cookie. So when the viewer first goes to the site, PHP checks for the cookie. If it exists, it pulls the starting image #. If it doesn't, it starts at 0 and sets the cookie. As for the images part, I figured an associate array would work well. The key would be what the cookie logic is based on, and then the image HTML would be in the array. So you visit the site without a cookie it would be... 0 => 1 => 2 => 3 => 4 => Then when you go back to the site, I need the array to be re-ordered like this: 0 => 1 => 2 => 3 => 4 => What's the best way to go about this array logic? My experience with manipulating data inside arrays is rather limited. Basically I need it to say "Start with key # and then reorder array based on that" Hello. I am trying to pass along a variable in an email auto response ($park), however if the variable is 2 words then it only passes along the first word. Any info would be great. Code: [Select] <?php $to = "$email"; $subject = "Event Signup Confirmation"; $message = "Hello $firstname! Thank you for signing up to work the $park event. Someone will contact you shortly. Event Information Park: $park Date: $orderdate Time: $hour:$min $ampm Description: $description Crew Leader: $leader"; $from = "guy@xxxx.com"; $headers = "From: $from"; mail($to,$subject,$message,$headers); echo "Thank you for signing up. You will receive an email shortly letting you know event details and who your crew leader is."; ?> Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with a simply array problem. I have a table with two columns: "ID" and "Name" and 100 Names. I also have an array called $myIDList containing 10 IDs. I want to display 10 Names from the table that correspond with the IDs from my array. Originally, I tried to implode the array, adding commas and inserted into my MySQL query using: $myQuery = "SELECT ID, Name FROM namesTable WHERE ID IN ($myImplodedIDList)"; The problem was that duplicated names (i.e. the same Name, but assiged to different IDs) would only be displayed once. So now I'm trying to use the original array to loop through a second array and display Names where the ID matches an ID from my first array. I have succesffuly listed the table like this: $myQuery = "SELECT ID, Name FROM myTable ORDER BY ID"; $myResult = mysql_query($myQuery) or die(mysql_error()); while($row=mysql_fetch_array($myResult)) { echo $row['ID']; echo $row['Name']; } But I want to do something like: while($row=mysql_fetch_array($myResult)) { while $row['ID'] = $myIDList { echo $row['Name'] } } Can someone shed some light onto this for me please? Thank you! Bryan Here is where I'm starting: Code: [Select] SELECT * FROM wp_usermeta WHERE meta_key = 'wp_1_s2member_custom_fields' AND meta_value LIKE '%3%' As the PHP produces the page, I'm going to have 15 different options coming from the Code: [Select] meta_value LIKE part. I'm assuming I can set up my 15 different DIVs, each with their own IF statement involving the meta_value. Right? I'm not going to have to have 15 different queries, am I? I assume it would start like this: Code: [Select] $query = 'SELECT * FROM wp_usermeta WHERE meta_key = "wp_1_s2member_custom_fields"'; $results = mysql_query($query); while($line = mysql_fetch_assoc($results)) But from there, I don't know if it's possible to deal with partial data with IF statements. Hi guys, I have this code below that selects and display all events from my database table. E.g if an event titled 'PHP' starts 5th March and ends 6th March (03/05/2012 - 03/06/2012) Code: [Select] //SQL QUERY for Event $sqlCount = mysql_query("select * from eventcalender"); $noOfEvent = 0; while($Event = mysql_fetch_array($sqlCount)){ $startDate = $Event['startDate']; $endDate = $Event['endDate']; //split date list($smonth, $sday, $syear) = explode('/',$Event['startDate']); list($emonth, $eday, $eyear) = explode('/',$Event['endDate']); //change date to date time format $start = new DateTime($sday.'-'.$smonth.'-'.$syear); // DD-MM-YYYY $endDate= new DateTime($eday.'-'.$emonth.'-'.$eyear); // DD-MM-YYYY $curdate = new DateTime($i.'-'.$month.'-'.$year); if ($start <= $curdate && $curdate <= $endDate) { $noOfEvent++; $eventTitleList = $eventTitleList."
".$Event['Title']; } } My question is if I had a drop down and the user selects a half day or partial day for the end date (03/06/2012) how do I get the calender to display the word (Half day) on the end date without displaying it on the start date so as to indicate on the calender that the end date is a half day. I would appreciate you help and advice. Thanks Is there a way to look for a File without needing the Extension?? If I have the File... Code: [Select] someUserPicture.jpg ...and I have the string "someUserPicture", is there a way to use file_exists() and get it to work properly? Thanks, Debbie I've run into a little bit of a logistical nightmare on some registration pages I've taken over work on. On these pages, parents register their kids for classes. The pages have been coded as such: page one: the user enters name and personal info, and selects one or two classes to register for, on submit, they go to page two. page two: their info is entered into the mysql database's registration table on a unique id The user verifies the total, enters a discount and submits page three: credit card info is added to registration table, and sent to authorize.net. page four: payment processed, and they enter the data for their kids into the attendees table page five: confirmation and done. My issue is that, at first I saw people entering page one data, going to page two, then for some reason, hitting the back button. They could then enter the data again. I'd have two entries in the registration table for the same person. I was going to put some sort of unique key on the name and an email, but then I saw scenario two... Another person enters data and registers one kid.. then for whatever personal reason goes back and registers a second kid in a completely separate transaction. So I can't put that key on there, but is there a way to prevent them from going back and reentering twice. I don't want to have to blow up the code to do it at the end of everything. and that would take implementing sessions, wouldn't it? I'm not so versed at that. Any thoughts? Hello, I wrote a script where i can enter a stock symbol and it get saved in my database. This works, but when i enter the stock symbol i would like to also get the current stock price get saved into the database. The link for the stock price (i.e. AAPL): http://quote.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv?s=AAPL&f=l1&e=.csv How do i programm this in the script below? Besides above, notice that "AAPL" in the link above has to be a varaible, which changes where i for example type in "GS". Hi, I want to show part of the text from a page containing my article on my main page. The article resides in a database in mysql. How do I limit the amount of text that is shown without setting up a separate excerpt box for the article. I want to then provide a link so the user can go to another page that displays the entire article. Thanks for any suggestions. Hello. Cheers, George I've been trying to get this to work for a few days now and can't seem to get anywhere with it! Any help is very much appreciated. I am creating a number generator where the user is required to insert the maximum number and generate rate. Maximum number is the highest number that the script will go to, and generate rate is how many numbers should be created. When the script runs, the numbers are stored into a MySQL database. The MySQL database creates a unique ID number so it can be recalled at a later date. The user then needs to go to Sorting.php and selects the record they wish to use. The numbers from this record are then counted and then stored into an array. If the numbers 2,5,5,0,2,2,1,3,5,1 where generated, the output of this new array will be: [5] => 3 [3] => 1 [2] => 3 [1] => 2 => 1 (These arrays can be of any length) I now need to extract this data and show it on screen. I don't know how to approach it. Format example: Number 5 appears 3 times Number 3 appears 1 times Number 2 appears 3 times Number 0 appears 1 times Sorting.php <?php $db1 = new Number_Information(); $db1->openDB(); $sql = "select * from GeneratedNumber"; $result = $db1->getResult($sql); if (!$_POST) { //page loads for the first time ?> <form action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] ?>" method="post"> Select the ID (If you have just generated a number, it will be the last one): <?php while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result)) { echo "<option value='{$row['ID']}'> {$row['ID']} "; } ?>
  <?php } else { $ID = $_POST['ID']; //This will contain the value that was selected in the drop down menu above. $result = mysql_query("SELECT NUMBERS2 FROM GeneratedNumber WHERE ID='{$ID}'"); //This tells the script to select NUMBERS2 contents which is assosiated with the ID. while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) $NUMBERS2 = $row['NUMBERS2']; echo "$NUMBERS2"; //Testing reasons - remove it later. echo "
"; //same as above echo "$ID"; // as above. echo "
"; //as above //Convert NUMBERS2 back into an array when inserted into table from Generator.php $NUMBERS = explode(",", $NUMBERS2); // Counts how many times a number appears //******************************************************************************************************************* //IF ALL ELSE FAILS, REVERT BACK TO THIS. //print_r(array_count_values($NUMBERS)); //It will only print the statement, but gives you a good building block when things WILL go wrong. //******************************************************************************************************************* rsort($NUMBERS); print_r(array_count_values($NUMBERS)); (The questions when editing posts are hard. I want to recode this so that the red crosses for incorrect results will no longer display once a student achieves a green tick result. I've had several goes at this but my results are less than encouraging. Can anyone help? Do I tackle this through an altered query, or should I include conditions in the display of the array?
