PHP - Update Not Updating Db
This executes with no errors but it is not updating the db. I have previously verified that the record exists.
<?php // update database // Connect to database ===================================================== include("connect_db.php"); // retrieve form data from form2.html ========================================== $id = $_POST['id']; // do not change $id = $_POST['ama']; // do not change $id = $_POST['model_name']; $id = $_POST['model_mfg']; $id = $_POST['wingspan']; $id = $_POST['engine']; $id = $_POST['decibels']; // Send query =========================================================== $query = "UPDATE airplanes SET model_name = '$model_name' WHERE id = '$id'"; //if (!mysql_query($query)){ //die('Error :' .mysql_error()); //} echo '<p>Return to <a href="members_menu.html">Members Menu</a></p>'; ?> Thanks Similar TutorialsI have this code to change the validity date of an account. I do a check against timestamp and current validity which works fine. Then I have radio buttons you can check to choose to extend with one, three, six or 12 months through a form and a post variable - they work too. When I write the variables out they look fine but when I want it in my database - nothing happens! I mean the original data is never changed. Can you see what is wrong? I tried changing the data type from date to datetime to timestamp with the same result. I suppose I will learn something new from phpfreaks today again. Code is here for the 12 month radio button: Code: [Select] $newdate = strtotime ( '+12 months' , strtotime ($fromDate) ) ; $newdate = date ('Y-m-d H:i:s', $newdate ); echo "$newdate"; $query = "UPDATE TABLE user_data SET paid_days='$newdate' WHERE user='$user'"; mysql_query($query);When I write the variable $newdate it shows up as 2013-01-10 21:55 (right now) which seems like a valid format to me. Do I need to convert it somehow? Hi there. I'm totally new (about a week!) with php and mysql and am encountering a problem that perhaps someone can help me with?
I've looked through to see if a similar problem has appeared or been solved, but without success, so apologies if I am repeating something.
In php I am trying to update 7 fields from a form from which a user has edited/modified any of the fields in a chosen record (except id).
Here is the code:
$id=$_GET['id']; I have the following PHP script to update two time/date fields in the database. When i run this the fields are not updated. Can anyone see where i m going wrong. <?php $con = mysql_connect("localhost","dbname","dbpassword"); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } echo 'Connected successfully'; mysql_select_db("my_db", $con); mysql_query("UPDATE msm_content SET created = '2011-01-02 00:00:00', modified = '2011-01-01 00:00:00'"); echo 'Query Updated successfully'; mysql_close($con); ?> Your guidance is much appreciated. Can anyone post a generic update function to update mysql table. The manual approach: update $tablename set $column1='a', $column2='b' where $id=$value; Hi i have this simple update form and scrip but somehow it doesnt seem to be update the field on the database can someone help out please. Good morning. I am looking fo some help with an update script to update all rows in a table. This is what I have for a form and all looks well. form.php <?php // run the query and put the results in an array variable called $result $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM table ORDER BY 'id', 'title', 'text', 'number'"); print "<form method='post' action='update.php'> <table width='100%' border='0' cellspacing='1' cellpadding='1'><tr> <td align='center'><strong>ID</strong></td> <td align='center'><strong>Title</strong></td> <td align='center'><strong>text</strong></td> <td align='center'><strong>Number</strong></td> </tr>\n"; // start a loop to print all of the courses with their book information // the mysql_fetch_array function puts each record into an array. each time it is called, it moves the array counter up until there are no more records left while ($Update = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { // start displaying the info; the most important part is to make the name an array (notice bookinfo[$i]) print "<td align='center'><p>{$Update['id']}</p></td>\n"; print "<td align='center'><input type='text' name='title' value='{$Update['title']}' /></td>"; print "<td align='center'><input type='text' size='40' name='text' value='{$Update['text']}' /></td>\n"; print "<td align='center'><input type='text' size='40' name='number' value='{$Update['number']}' /></td>\n"; print "</tr>\n"; // add 1 to the count, close the loop, close the form, and the mysql connection } print "<tr> <td colspan='4' align='center'><input type='submit' value='submit' />"; print "</td> </tr> </table> </td> </tr> </form> </table>"; print "</tr>\n"; ?><br /><br /> My question is. How do I update this info into the database with the proper info. ie. Update.php? As the title says I need help with multiple update system.. Can't really get it to work at all >.< Here's some code: $selectt = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM exercises WHERE user='" . $_SESSION["user"] . "' AND exname='" . $_GET["edit"] . WHERE id='".$index."'"; mysql_query($update); } Would be thankful for reply! I'm new to PHP and I was able to figure out how to populate data from my database into my text fields. I am trying to add the update information to the same php file; however, I am now receiving errors within the data I was able to populate,
Notice: Undefined variable: stmt in C:\xampp\htdocs\Cust_App\update.php on line 47 and errors with the Update statement
Notice: Undefined variable: stmtupdate in C:\xampp\htdocs\Cust_App\update.php on line 96 I had defined the customerID variable above in the code, but it isn't being captured from here. I tried setting up this query like the one which gathered the data, but I'm off by a little bit. I would like the option to be able to update all fields. Any help is appreciated. I'm trying to learn as I may get asked to update other forms in the future. Hi Guys, I want my UPDATE function from the code below to only update those fields that are NOT empty - if they are empty on submit then do not update or change any values from that field. I know that sounds odd, but with my file fields, when I submit to change something else at a later date it will overwrite the photo, download1,2 & 3 values and as a result I loose my files from the mysql table. Cheers, S <?php include('config.php'); if (isset($_GET['Ter']) ) { $ter = (int) $_GET['Ter']; if (isset($_POST['submitted'])) { //Photo & Document Upload Upload $timestamp_photo = time(); $timestamp_download1 = time(); $timestamp_download2 = time(); $timestamp_download3 = time(); //This is the directory where the files will be saved //Photos $photo_target = "images/"; $photo_target = $photo_target .$timestamp_photo. basename( $_FILES['photo']['name']); //Documents $download_target = "documents/"; $download_target1 = $download_target .$timestamp_download1. basename( $_FILES['download1']['name']); $download_target2 = $download_target .$timestamp_download2. basename( $_FILES['download2']['name']); $download_target3 = $download_target .$timestamp_download3. basename( $_FILES['download3']['name']); //This gets all the other information from the form $photo = ($_FILES['photo']['name']); $download1 = ($_FILES['download1']['name']); $download2 = ($_FILES['download2']['name']); $download3 = ($_FILES['download3']['name']); //Pause Photo/Document Upload foreach($_POST AS $key => $value) { $_POST[$key] = mysql_real_escape_string($value); } $sql= "UPDATE `ter` SET `Ter` = '{$_POST['Ter']}' , `BranchName` = '{$_POST['BranchName']}' , `BranchAddress` = '{$_POST['BranchAddress']}' , `BranchTel` = '{$_POST['BranchTel']}' , `BranchEmail` = '{$_POST['BranchEmail']}' , `BranchLink` = '{$_POST['BranchLink']}' , `Theme` = '{$_POST['Theme']}' , `LocalInfo` = '{$_POST['LocalInfo']}' , `BranchInfo` = '{$_POST['BranchInfo']}' , `photo` = '$timestamp_photo{$_FILES['photo']['name']}' , `download1` = '$timestamp_download1{$_FILES['download1']['name']}' , `download1name` = '{$_POST['download1name']}' , `download2` = '$timestamp_download2{$_FILES['download2']['name']}' , `download2name` = '{$_POST['download2name']}' , `download3` = '$timestamp_download3{$_FILES['download3']['name']}' , `download3name` = '{$_POST['download3name']}' WHERE `Ter` = '$ter' "; mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error()); //Unpause Photo/Document Upload //Writes the photo to the server if(move_uploaded_file($_FILES['photo']['tmp_name'], $photo_target)) { echo "<br />The file ".$timestamp_photo. basename( $_FILES['photo']['name']). I'll only include the query part of the code since that's what is relevant to my problem. The idea is basically to upload a new picture onto the database if no picture already exists for that member and display the picture on the page. If a picture already exists, then the script replaces the old picture with the new one upon upload. But for whatever reason I don't understand, when I try to replace the old pic, it gets inserted in a new row on the database instead of replacing the old row, and the new pic gets displayed on the web page alongside the old. Could the fact that my insert script actually uploads the image onto a folder on my server and only stores the path name in the database have anything to contribute to the mixup? It's a magazine sort of CMS and what I want is that when you click on a certain thing it continues onto the next page. Through the CMS you can create pages - when you do this each page gets a unique PID. To access the pages you have to enter the PID on the end of the URL, e.g. : http://www.myschool.com/magazine/index.php?pid=x. What I need is a code that when an image gets clicked the PID number in the URL goes up by one. Thanks $sqld = "SELECT * FROM orders WHERE `id`='$delete' AND `name`='$inf2[name]' AND `email`='$inf2[email]' LIMIT 1"; $csql = $db->query($sqld); $ccheck = $csql->fetch(PDO::FETCH_NUM); $cinf = $csql->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC); $quantity = $cinf[quantity]; $code = $cinf[code]; $stmt11 = $db->prepare('UPDATE feeds SET quantity=quantity-:quantity WHERE code=:code'); $stmt11->bindValue(':quantity', $quantity, PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt11->bindValue(':code', $code, PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt11->execute(); $id = $delete; $name = $inf2[name]; $stmt2 = $db->prepare("DELETE FROM orders WHERE id=:id AND name=:name"); $stmt2->bindValue(':id', $id, PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt2->bindValue(':name', $name, PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt2->execute();OK, i have just been told i should start using PDO instead of mysql to update my tables. This code works to delete the order but doesn't update the feeds section. All this is new to me so far and i think i am getting the hang of it. Should i still be using the quantity=quantity-:quantity or is there another way to do it with PDO? Sorry, i posted this in the wrong forum. Hope someone here can help until it's moved Edited by Self_Taught_Still_Learning, 30 May 2014 - 03:30 PM. Hi, I'm using php to access the mysql database using mysqli and I have a field on my table called "timestamp" and it's set as a timestamp and has current_time (I think in phpmyadmin it was a tick option so I clicked it) and when I update that row in my table the field "timestamp" doesn't update with the timestamp from when it was last updated/modified. I thought the field option timestamp automatically did that? I'm guessing not.. is there a way I can update the timestamp with the current time in my query? $query1 = "select * from movies where title = '".$title."' ;"; $result1 = mysql_query($query1) or die('Could Not Execute The Query'); while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result1) ) { for($f=0; $f<$parts[$current_k]; $f++ ) { touch("$base_folder/{$hos}/".$linking[$sum].".php"); $old_part_href = $row['href_parts']; $updated_part = $old_part_href.$new; $query_href = 'update movies set href_parts = \''.$updated_part.'\''; mysql_query($query_href) or die('COULD NOT EXECUTE THE QUERY FOR PARTS HREF'); $new = "{$base_folder}/{$hos}/".$linking[$sum].".php"; $sum++; } } what i am trying to do is take the value of href_parts and add the new href of the page to the existing value on the href_parts and update the href_parts field in my db.. but i am not getting the desired results.. all i am getting in the db is the last value that is passed in the loop in the db.. i want to save the values which are exisiting in the db and add the newly created values to itt.. can anyone help please.. I'm back, I have a code that based on my understanding should work, but needless to say doesn't <?php $sql ="select * from `piprice`"; $result = mysql_query($sql); $count = mysql_num_rows($result); echo "<table border=1><tr><td>Product Name</td><td>Item ID</td><td>Price</td><td>Enabled</td>"; echo "<form action=main.php?id=test1.php method=post>"; while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo "<tr><td>".$row['product name']."</td>"; echo "<td>".$id[] = $row['item id'];$row['item id']."</td>"; echo "<td>".$row['price']."</td>"; $enabled[] = $row['enabled']; echo"<td><select name=".$enabled.">< <option Value=".$row['enabled'].">".$row['enabled']."</option> <option Value=Yes>Yes</option> <option Value=No>No</option> /select></td</tr>"; } echo "<input name=submit type=submit value=Update>"; echo "</form></table>"; if(isset($_POST['submit'])) { for($i=0;$i<$count;$i++){ $sql1="UPDATE `piprice` SET `enabled` = '$enabled[$i]' WHERE `item id` ='$id[$i]'"; $result1=mysql_query($sql1) or die (mysql_error()); } } ?> Basically I want to be able to pick yes/no and have it update in the database. One a side note is there a good site for me to learn php on (I just know the basics) besides asking 101 questions here Hey all, I've recently been coding a Bank for my game in which users can desposit there money into.
