PHP - Unset Session Variable After A Few Seconds?

Hi - I have a POST variable which contains a bunch of products with their codes and prices etc.  However if the customer wants to delete one of those products  it has to be removed from the POST before being processed. I have read the manual on unset  which appears to work well when you know the key relating to the value, but if you take a look at the array ( below ) you can see that it is a multi- dimensional array where the number of potential entries not knowable in advance. My HTML checkbox for delete has a value of prodid.

The answer is probably obvious but so far this student of PHP hasn't found it - MANY thanks for your advice !

This is more of a technical question that i could not find the answer to pn the php.net manual pages.

take the folowing example code:



foreach ($array as $key => $value){

$tempvariable = some_property_of($value);

}

unset($tempvariable);


is that unset statement needed?  Does PHP automatically destroy the variables once the foreach loop is left?

I have 3 php's

home.php

createStep1.php

createCheckPass.php

createStep2.php

home.php unsets some $_SESSION variables if they still exist from previous pages:

createCheckPass.php gets some posted information from createStep1.php, checks everything is ok and if so sets the above session variables

createStep2.php gets the session data set by createCheckPass.php and then gets to work with the user inputting data into the db.

The odd problem
If createCheckPass.php finds any problems with the posted data it redirects the user back to createStep1.php with the sessions set, createStep1.php then displays the errors with the info set in the sessions to the user and everything works ok.

If however the user sends the form from createStep1.php with no problems and the createCheckPass.php passes the user onto createStep2.php, something strange happens...
The sessions set by the createCheckPass.php are only ever unset at the home.php, yet somehow createStep2.php loses the sessions and therefore doesn't run.

What is even stranger is if i comment out the unsetting of the sessions from the home.php, everything works fine and none of the sessions are lost. Really really odd


Summary:
createStep2.php is reading the unset session lines of code from home.php when never asked to.

Has anyone ever come across anything like this before?

I have a Date value and I want to add to that date 30 seconds plus.
Example:

I need the following date: Thu Mar 10 18:33:48 GMT-0300 2011 to become:
Thu Mar 10 18:34:18 GMT-0300 2011
This means that the retrieved Date now has 30 more seconds...

Any ideas??

My login script stores the user's login name as $_SESSION[ 'name'] on login. For some unapparent reason, i'm getting errors stating that $user  and $priv are  undefined variables, though I've attempted to define $user as being equal to $_SESSION['name'], using $user to look up the the user's privilege level (stored as the su column ) in the SQL table, and then where the result of the sql query is $priv which is then evaluated in an if statement. I can't seem to figure out why this might not be working.

I can get Test 2 to successfully operate the if statement using a variable variable.

But when I try the same method using a session variable (Test 1) the if statement is not executed. Please could you tell me why the if statement in Test 1 is not being executed?

2. Password

I want to declare that Pilot Callsign as the session variable on authentication.

Using that Pilot Callsign session variable, I will fetch data from the database relevant to his profile.

2. As you can see, there already is a session variable declared for Pilot Callsign
But on the next page "Restricted Access Page", when I try to call this same Session Variable, it doesn't work.

I tried doing this

I'm using Session variables for the first time on a site I'm developing. I had it working fine while I was doing some admin and testing in subfolders. But the problem is I'm losing the session variables when I load the page from www.example.com, but it works from www.example.com/index.php. I would be happy to post some code if needed.

The first page is used to submit data to second page (and also show errors if there are any with the data submitted). The second page should be retrieving the posted data and assigning that data to session should it need to refresh back to the first page to show errors. The session data is used to repopulate the form. Right now I'm typing test into the review_name variable and when the page redirects back to the form to display the error messages, that field is not populated with "test".

On this second page echo $_SESSION['review_name']; returns nothing, when changed to $_SESSION['review_product_rating']; it returns the rating I selected in the form. I'm probably missing something obvious here.
