What is wrong in it ??? Similar TutorialsHey, Im trying make a way to check an input to make sure it only consists of "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0 and . " I thought i could explode the number and check it to an array that has "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0 and . " I havent worked with arrays before so i dont quite know how they work or to go about this? Any ideas cause im sure im not the first to ask for something like this Thanks Hello guys, I have a form where you can select a score between 0 and 10(only integers).
I want to check if the value that I recive, is integer.
Im using this code(exemple):
$integer = intval($_POST["p1"]); if(is_int($integer)){ echo 'INT'; } else { echo 'NO INT'; }My problem is that if it recive letters, the conversion converts it to 0, and it says that it is integer. So with this method I should discard the 0. You guys know a method to avoid that? Thank you guys Hi, I did a search for this function and found a similar post but wasn't able to understand it. Presently I am just trying to do a simple test with the is_int function. I have it set up as follows: Code: [Select] if (is_int ($variable)) { echo 'Integer'; } else { echo 'Not integer'; $variable is converted to a variable from some text on a web form. I can see the problem here is that no matter what is entered on the web form, $variable is always a string. The code I referenced above works fine if I instead use the is_string function. I guess I'm just trying to figure out the following: 1. Why is it always a string, even when entering a number such as 7? 2. How can I overcome this so that I can check to make sure the input is of the correct type (integer)? I know I'm probably not doing a good job of explaining what I mean but I think what I'm aiming to do should be clear; let me know if it isn't. NOTE--I think I get this to a degree--anything passed in a form will be a string, is that correct? So I should be able to use is_numeric instead. However, the problem with that is that it would also return True for non-integers such as floats. I only want the user to be able to enter integers, 8.5 should return False in this case. Thanks! this does not work for me... Code: [Select] $category=mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['category']); if (is_int($category)) { i echo out $category and confirm it is an integer and yet the if statement does not fire what am i missing? Hi, I will start off trying to explain what I am trying to make the best I can. What I want to create is a script that gets the gold value from this website: http://www.lbma.org.uk/pages/index.cfm?page_id=46&title=current_statistics and then save it to a variable which I will use to calculate values of different gold karats. Here is the content in bold I need on the website I linked: Quote LONDON GOLD FIXING USD GBP EUR AM 1588.00 1005.127 1251.083 PM 1589.50 1004.741 1249.803 So what help do I need? Well, I don't expect you to figure out the calculating part for me but some help how to get that content pointed out above and save it to a variable is what I would appreciate getting some help with. I don't know much PHP, only some and I have been trying to figure this out for a day now without any success. I suppose php get contents and/or curl should be used here but I don't know how really. I would very much appreciate the help I can get on this. Thank you! Hi , I have a login page that i acces via www.mydomain.com/logib.php?last_visited_page.php however the passed in variable last_visited_page.com is not always set . once the login script has run , when the variable it is not set i would want jump to myaccount.php otherwise jump to last_visited_page.php How do i check for no variable beinf present and therefore jump to myaccount.php Many Thanks Fraser I want an if statement that not only checks for the existence of a variable, but which also checks all the variables already created for one with a specific value. For example, I have a loop which creates variables, but I don't want it to make two variables with the same value. The problem is, using
if(isset(${'h'.$x}==false) && ${'h'.$x} != 3{ }won't work since the variable equal to 3 could be named h4, whereas this one will be named h5. I hoped I explained this efficiently enough, sorry about any confusion. i am pulling the login date from the databases and i want it to check if the variable is empty and if it is echo Never Loged In and if it not empty echo the date <?php include'db.php'; $id=$_GET['id']; $sql=mysql_query("SELECT * FROM admin WHERE id='$id'")or die(mysql_error()); while($row=mysql_fetch_array($sql)) { $date=$row['login_date']; if($date > 0) { echo"Never Loged In"; } else { echo"$date"; } } ?> I was wondering if it is possible to check the content for a variable for a certain work. For example say a variable called "$variable1" was equal to "one, two, three, four, five". How can I check to see if the variable contain the word "four"? Thanks for any help. if ($d = opendir("uploads")) { while ($file = readdir($d)) { if ($file != "." && $file != ".." ) // if( is_file($file) ) { $files[] = $file; } } closedir($d); }if ($file != "." && $file != ".." $file != ???????? ) just a bit stuck here Hello, how do you search for a filename containing a date and then match it to a variable? Please note the filename may only contain some of the variable being matched to. Any help appreciated... Hi, How can I check if a variable only has these characters: - number (0-9) - decimal point (.) - positive (+) - negative (-) - dollar ($) I tried is_numeric, but it doesn't like negative values... I need to add the variable value to another variable. I have to accept numbers (including negative and decimals)... ex: 0.1 = TRUE -.1 = TRUE 12 = TRUE 1000.00 = TRUE 12a = FALSE thanks I have the following if statement: Code: [Select] if ((isset($select_category) == 'All') || (!isset($select_category)) && (!isset($most_liked))) { The value for the variable gets taken from a drop down menu, which is a list of categories. The problem I am having is with the isset condition check is that the variable is always set, but it does not consider the check for equality with the 'All' condition. Which basically means no matter which category I choose from the drop down menu, it always goes to this very first if statement, and does NOT go to the other elseif statement, and I think it has to do with the isset condition check, because without it it would work, though without it I am getting a notice warning, that the variables are undefined. Any ideas how I can make it check if its equal to 'All' together with the isset condition check? What I am trying to say is no matter which category is chosen, with the isset condition check, the variable is always set, thus the if statement is true, there basically seems to be a contradiction going on. Hey all, Let's say I want to do something like this: Code: [Select] <?php function exists($a){ $b ||= $a; } echo exists(1); ?> Basically, every time exists is called, it will only assign b to a if b isn't already initialized. What's the most effective way to achieve the equivalent in php? ternary? Thanks for response. I have already an online booking form. The Form works fine now and I would like to add on one more issue, but the code ignores what I want to check. I have 4 fields: arrival, departure, no. of persons and comments to check. Scenario 1: All field mentioned above are emtpty: Workes fine and message appears: "You have not provided any booking details". Scenario 2: If arrival (date_start) and departure (date_end) is entered, there should be at least an entry either in the field "comment", or in the field "pax". If not, there should be a message: "You have not provided sufficient booking details". INSTEAD: The booking request is sent, which should not be the case. The code is currently: # all fields empty : arrival, departure, pax and comments - error if(empty($data_start) && empty($data_end) && empty($pax)&& empty($comment)){ exit("You have not specified any booking details to submit to us. <br>Please use your browser to go back to the form. <br>If you experience problems with this Form, please e-mail us"); exit; } #If arrival and departure date is entered, there should be at least an entry either in the field "comment", or in the field "pax". if(!isset($data_start) && !isset($data_end) && empty($pax) && empty($comment)){ exit("You have not provided sufficient booking details. <br>Please use your browser to go back to the form. <br>If you experience problems with this Form, please e-mail us"); exit; } The form can be tested at http://www.phuket-beachvillas.com/contact-own/contact-it.php Can someone please check and tell me what's wrong with the code ? Thanks to anyone for any hint. |
