PHP - Removing Specific Characters From Array Elements
Hi all,
I have an array of data. I am looping through this data to generate a CSV file. However, if there are commas in any of the elements then this will throw out the structure of the CSV file. My question is, how do I loop through the array before I use it to strip out any commas and replace with a space? Thanks for your help. Similar TutorialsHey guys. How do you remove a specific element from an array? Lets say I have a string like this: $list = "guy, girl, boy, man, woman, lady"; Then I use explode to break it up into an array by commas: $listArray = explode(",",$list); Now $listArray contains everything. Now if I wanted to delete something specific from that array, how would I do that? So for example, I want to delete "man" out of the array. How do I do that without know its key? I used DOM to parse data from html, then I made the data go into an array. the array now looks like Array([0]->street[1]->city, st, zip[2]->phone[3]->fax) and it is quite a long array. The problem is that when there is no fax number on the html, it doesnt show the fax on the array, so when I am trying to loop through this in a table it is throwing off my cells. Is there a way to delete all entries in an array that include Fax:* ? Is there a way to exclude all nodes that have Fax* using DOM? My current DOM looks like... Code: [Select] $address = $xpath->query('//td[@id="addressText"]'); Hello, I have two arrays: $questions, which has 'question_id' as one of its keys and $assignment_questions which is a subset of $questions, pulled off my database. Using php, I'd like to construct a 3rd array which takes my $questions array and removes from it any question that has a question_id which can be found in both $questions and $assignment_questions, in addition to the other values associated with a particular question_id. For example, $questions has: question_id, solution, author (and other keys). Is there any way to check if a particular key matches and then zap out all of the corresponding fields (solution, author, etc.)? Thanks! Hi I have a multi-dimension session array as per the below: $_SESSION['myarray'][][] If for example there are several elements stored in the array: $_SESSION['myarray'][0][0] = "aaa"; $_SESSION['myarray'][0][1] = "111"; $_SESSION['myarray'][1][0] = "bbb"; $_SESSION['myarray'][1][1] = "222"; $_SESSION['myarray'][2][0] = "ccc"; $_SESSION['myarray'][2][1] = "333"; $_SESSION['myarray'][2][0] = "ddd"; $_SESSION['myarray'][2][1] = "444"; How can i remove one of the above and shunt the other elements up? I have tried using the unset command but this seems to essentailly nullify the desired values where as what i would like to do is remove them completly from the array and then shorten the total number of records stored in the array. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Hi Guys I'm returning to programming after 5 years, almost a newbie. I have a field(column) in a MySQL database table that has strings of characters separated by a delimiter (||). For example: (TOM||PAUL||HARRIS) I would like to separate the strings into an array. Something like this: ARRAY[0] = 'TOM'; ARRAY[1]='PAUL'; ARRAY[3]='HARRIS'; Can some one tell me how to do this? TIA. Last question for the week now. Almost finished. All I need to do is: Remove characters from the beginning and the end of a string. But what is the easiest way to keep all alphabetic characters (whether in English or other languages like Russian, Japanese, etc) by removing all sign characters like !@#$%^&*()":;' ? Hello Everyone, I am working on a project I pull the field names from the database. I am trying to remove the underscore (_) when the field name is displayed. Does anyone know how I would do that? Here is the code that I am working with Code: [Select] $i = 0; while ($i < mysql_num_fields($fieldnamesquery_result)) { $meta = mysql_fetch_field($fieldnamesquery_result, $i); if (!$meta) { echo "No information available"; } $meta = str_replace("_", " ", $meta); $tablecolumn .= "<p>" . $meta->name . ":<input type='text' name='" . $meta->name . "' id='" . $meta->name . "' /></p>"; $i++; In <div id="chart_rt">%3$s</div> below, it is populated with a string that always begins with a number followed by a colon (from 1: to 25:). I see that ltrim removes characters from the beginning of a string but I don't see how to compensate for the extra character in 10: through 25: function wp_rss( $url, $num_items = -1 ) { if ( $rss = fetch_rss( $url ) ) { echo '<div id="charts">'; if ( $num_items !== -1 ) { $rss->items = array_slice( $rss->items, 0, $num_items ); } //start count $i = 1; foreach ( (array) $rss->items as $item ) { printf( '<div id="chart_lt">'.$i.'</div><div id="chart_rt">%3$s</div>', esc_url( $item['link'] ), esc_attr( strip_tags( $item['description'] ) ), htmlentities( $item['title'] ) ); //increment $i++; } echo '</div>'; } else { _e( 'An error has occurred, which probably means the feed is down. Try again later.' ); } } Hi all, In my string I have hidden characters that has a shape of square. When I print the string, it shows questions mark. When I opened it with notepad, it show a square shaped character. I want to remove this character in my strings. I have searched the web. Somebody says its carriage return but i think it is not. Could you please help me with this issue. Thanks alot. I have a string of mixed Japanese or Chinese and Western characters and I would really like to leave the western characters and remove the others. Is there any way to detect which UTF-8 characters are Japanese/Chinese and to remove them? I have tried to use this which I found on another thread but my version of PHP (5.3) will not allow the /u in the following Code: [Select] echo "<BR>".preg_replace('/[^\u4E00-\u9FFF]+/', '', $string); I have tried using various combinations of /p (these, plus others) Code: [Select] echo "<BR>".preg_replace('/\p{Bopomofo}+/u', '', $string); echo "<BR>".preg_replace('/\p{Hiragana}+/u', '', $string); and the /x{} option tells me the numbers are to large Code: [Select] echo "<BR>".preg_replace('/[^\x{4E00}-\x{9FFF}]+/', '', $string); My string for this example is this but any combination of western and Japanese/Chinese characters are possible in the title. 2011.12.06 19:00-20:00 / ふくいちライブカメラ (Live Fukushima Nuclear Plant Cam) | Uploaded: 06 Dec 2011 Thanks for any help. Hiya peeps, I am using preg_match to validate URLS; preg_match("/(((https?|ftp|gopher):\/\/|(mailto|file|news):)[^' <>\"]+|(www|web|w3).[-a-z0-9.]+)[^' .,;<>\":]/i", $this->_searchString) I works great, the only issue I have is I am using it in an if statment, and what I need to do is something like this. if(preg_match("/(((https?|ftp|gopher):\/\/|(mailto|file|news):)[^' <>\"]+|(www|web|w3).[-a-z0-9.]+)[^' .,;<>\":]/i", $this->_searchString)) { CHECK IF $this->_searchString has http:// at the start of it or if it has a / at the end and remove them if it does. I need $this->_searchString to end up with only www.SITE.co.uk before I can input it into the relevant function. } else { } Many thanks, James. Hey... I'm trying to echo the title of the news in the right column but I just want to display maximum of 25 characters how can I do it? thanks This is probably a simple one. I just couldn't find a tutorial to the specific thing I'm trying. I have a string that looks like: "(abbreviated name with.) second abbrev. name." I'm trying to find a way to break this apart so I can have: $var1 = "abbreviated name with." $var2 = "second abbrev. name." I've looked at substr and a couple others and I'm not sure quite how to do this, because the ')' could be in a differing location. I have a form with some dropdownlist that get populated dynamically(depends on what the user chooses) with jquery and an xml file. In the form I have a button that takes the info and populates another form with the values of the ddl. I have coded script which populates the second form with jquery and the name of each input get dynamically added like so: Code: [Select] <input type="text" value="'+model+'" name="Model_'+model+'" id="'+model+'" readonly size="'+model.length+'" /> <input type="text" value="'+model+'" name="Model'+model+'" id="'+model+'" readonly size="'+model.length+'" />> <input type="text" value="'+color+'" name="Color'+color+'" id="'+color+'" readonly size="'+color.length+'" /> <input type="text" value="'+part+'" name="Part'+part+'" id="'+part+'" readonly size="'+part.length+'" /> <input type="text" value="$'+price+'" name="Price'+price+'" id="'+price+'" readonly size="'+price.length+'" /> <input type="text" value="'+qty+'" name="Quantity'+qty+'" id="'+qty+'" readonly size="'+qty.length+'" /> <input type="text" value="'+total+'" name="Total'+total+'" id="'+total+'" readonly size="'+total.length+'" /> What I want to do is grab the name of the element and remove the underscore and everything else form rileft to right so I am left with just the word before the underscore. I tried using substr($key,0,-28) but that wont work since everything after the underscore will have a different length. I was wondering if there is a way i can keep everything before the underscore and remove the underscore and everything after that. Thanks in advance for any input I get. |
