PHP - Set And Update Cookie By A Select Form
I want to update a value by setting cookie. I use this code:
Code: [Select] <?php if (isset($_POST['ChangeOrdering'])) { setcookie("Ordering", $_POST['ChangeOrdering'], time() + 31536000); } echo $_COOKIE["Ordering"]; ?> <form method="post" action="<?php echo $_SERVER["PHP_SELF"] ?>"> Reorder messages: <select name="ChangeOrdering"> <option value="DateAdded ASC">Oldest first</option> <option value="DateAdded DESC">Newest first</option> <option value="Title ASC">By Title, A-Z</option> <option value="Title DESC">By Title, Z-A</option> </select> <input type="submit" value=" Save Settings " /> </form> Problem is that echo will return the previous cookie set, not the last value. As a matter of fact, my problem is about updating the cookie. It seems that the browser load the cookie before it is updated by the POST value. Similar TutorialsHey there, i have a cookie which echos ok but would like to know how to automatically select the corresponding option from a drop down list when the page loads. Normal List <form id="switchform"> <select name="switchcontrol" size="1" class="topusernav" onChange="chooseStyle(this.options[this.selectedIndex].value, 60)"> <option value="none">-----</option> <option value="noir">Noir</option> <option value="crimson">Crimson</option> <option value="forrest">Forrest</option> <option value="ocean">Ocean</option> <option value="petal">Petal</option> </select> </form> works fine but <form id="switchform"> <select name="switchcontrol" size="1" class="topusernav" onChange="chooseStyle(this.options[this.selectedIndex].value, 60)"> <option value="none" <?php if (!(strcmp("none", "$_COOKIE[\"mysheet\"];")) {echo "selected=\"selected\"";} ?>>-----</option> <option value="noir" <?php if (!(strcmp("noir", "$_COOKIE[\"mysheet\"];")) {echo "selected=\"selected\"";} ?>>Noir</option> <option value="crimson" <?php if (!(strcmp("crimson", "$_COOKIE[\"mysheet\"];")) {echo "selected=\"selected\"";} ?>>Crimson</option> <option value="forrest" <?php if (!(strcmp("forrest", "$_COOKIE[\"mysheet\"];")) {echo "selected=\"selected\"";} ?>>Forrest</option> <option value="ocean" <?php if (!(strcmp("ocean", "$_COOKIE[\"mysheet\"];")) {echo "selected=\"selected\"";} ?>>Ocean</option> <option value="petal" <?php if (!(strcmp("petal", "$_COOKIE[\"mysheet\"];")) {echo "selected=\"selected\"";} ?>>Petal</option> </select> </form> gives me a whitespace error any thoughts?? thanks what Im basically trying to do is just like a phpmyadmin function... you select rows you want to update with a checkbox and then it takes you to a page where the rows that are clicked are shown in forms so that you can view and edit info in them... and then have 1 submit button to update them all at once. Hi guys, Im developing a stock system and so far new stock and can be added with the quantity, however im trying to update the stock by using a select box and selecting the type of stock and inputting a new qty. the form and everything is set up and i can select files from the database, however i dont know how to update files from a select box The code i got so far is Code: [Select] <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>stock manager</title> </head> <body> <?php $stockqty =&$_POST['stock_qty1']; ?> <center> <table> <td> <table> <td> <form action='stockview.php' method='POST'> Please Enter a Stock Name and Stock Value <table> <tr> <td> Stock Name: </td> <td> <input name="stock_name" type="text" /><BR /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> Stock Qty: </td> <td> <input name="stock_qty" type="text" /> </td> </tr> </table> <input name="submit" type="submit" value="Add New Stock Items" /> </form> </td> </table> </td> <td> <table> <td> <form action='stockmanager.php' method='POST' enctype="multipart/form-data"> Please Select from the list the item you wish to update <table> <tr> <td> Stock Name: </td> <td> <?php $connect = mysql_connect("localhost","root", "") or die ("Couldn't Connect!"); mysql_select_db("stock", $connect) or die("Couldn't find db"); // select database $query=("SELECT id, stockname FROM stocks"); $result = mysql_query ($query); echo "<select name=stock value=''>Edit Stock QTY</option>"; while($nt=mysql_fetch_array($result)) { //Array or records stored in $nt echo "<option value=$nt[id]>$nt[stockname]</option>"; /* Option values are added by looping through the array */ } $queryreg = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM stocks WHERE stockqty='$stockqty'"); $numrows = mysql_num_rows($queryreg); $update = mysql_query("UPDATE stocks SET stockqty='$stockqty' WHERE stockname = '$stockname'"); echo("Its updated"); ?> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> Stock Qty: </td> <td> <input name="stock_qty1" type="text" /> </td> </tr> </table> <input name="submit" type="submit" value="Update stock items" /> </form> </td> </table> </td> </table> </center> </body> </html> Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Lance This has been bugging me for quite a while and I've tried so many different things and just run into all kinds of problems... What I'm doing or trying at least is pulling data from a table displaying it into a multiple select box allowing the user the oppertunity to remove one or more options. As the code stands now I'm getting no value at all in the post variable, by taking the [] brackets out of the inputs name i was able to get the first selected option but the php code was then unable to remove that value from the database. I hope I'm explaining this well enough but the code follows I'd really appreciate some help or direction on this one. The FORM Code: [Select] <FORM action='' method='post'> <select size='8' multiple name='remove_player[]'> <?php foreach ($members as $key => $mem) { if ($mem != "") { $mem = str_replace("-", " ", $mem); $mem = ucwords($mem); echo ("<option value='" . $mem . "'>" . $mem . "</option>"); } } ?> </select> and then the handler code: Code: [Select] $to_remove = $_POST['remove_player']; $as_team = str_replace(" ", "-", $teamname); $as_team = strtolower($as_team); $for_remove = "SELECT * FROM teams WHERE name = '$as_team'"; $for_query = (mysql_query($for_remove)); foreach ($to_remove as $y => $z) { $z = str_replace(" ", "-", $z); $z = strtolower($z); } while($arr_remove = mysql_fetch_array($for_query)) { foreach ($arr_remove as $a => $b) { foreach ($to_remove as $c => $d) { if ($b == $d) { unset($arr_remove[$a]); } } } foreach ($arr_remove as $e => $f) { $add_replace = (mysql_result($for_query, 0, 'members')); $replace = ($add_replace . "\r\n" . $f . "\r\n"); $replace_mem = "UPDATE teams SET members = '$replace'"; $replace_q = (mysql_query($replace_mem)); } } echo "Member List successfully updated.<br>"; foreach ($to_remove as $h => $g) { echo ($g . " removed from the team.<br>"); } Also any time i try to print any part of the array/s I get no values but the database is being updated with 2 line breaks and a "3" at the end of the table which has me a bit confused as well. Thanks! Well, I made this yesterday then realised, I need to check is it exists... I got this but when I go to accept the application and the member exists in the table it enters it anyway... Code: [Select] <?php $member=$_POST['memberid']; $status=$_POST['Status']; $con = mysql_connect("host","user","pass"); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("a2186214_hbclan",$con); $sql="UPDATE application SET Status = '$status' WHERE ID = '$member'"; $sql1="INSERT INTO table_members(name) SELECT application.Name FROM application WHERE application.ID = '$member'"; if ($status == 'ACCEPTED') { if(mysql_num_rows(mysql_query("SELECT name FROM table_members WHERE name = '$member'"))) { if(mysql_query($sql, $con) or die(mysql_error())) { echo 'Status Changed.<br /><a href="../applications.php">Return To Members List</a>'; } else { die('Could not submit: ' . mysql_error()); } } else { if(mysql_query($sql, $con) or die(mysql_error())) { if(mysql_query($sql1, $con) or die(mysql_error())) { echo 'Status Changed.<br /><a href="../applications.php">Return To Members List</a>'; } } else { die('Could not submit: ' . mysql_error()); } } } else { if(mysql_query($sql, $con) or die(mysql_error())) { echo 'Status Changed.<br /><a href="../applications.php">Return To Members List</a>'; } else { die('Could not submit: ' . mysql_error()); } } mysql_close($con); ?> Hi there, I'm having a problem with updating a record with an UPDATE mysql query and then following that query with a SELECT query to get those values just updated. This is what I'm trying to do...I'd like a member to be able to complete a recommended task and upon doing so, go to a page in their back office where they can check off that task as "Completed". This completed task would be recorded in their member record in our database so that when they return to this list, it will remain as "Completed". I'm providing the member with a submit button that will call the same page and then update depending on which task is clicked as complete. Here is my code: Code: [Select] $memberid = $_SESSION['member']; // Check if form has been submitted if(isset($_POST['task_done']) && $_POST['task_submit'] == 'submitted') { $taskvalue = $_POST['task_value']; $query = "UPDATE membertable SET $taskvalue = 'done' WHERE id = $memberid"; $result = mysqli_query($dbc, $query); } $query ="SELECT task1, task2, task3 FROM membertable WHERE id = $memberid"; $result = mysqli_query($dbc, $query); $row = mysqli_fetch_array($result, MYSQLI_ASSOC); $_SESSION['task1'] = $row['task1']; $_SESSION['task2'] = $row['task2']; $_SESSION['task3'] = $row['task3']; ?> <h4>Task List</h4> <table> <form action="" method="post"> <tr> <td>Task 1</td> <td><?php if($_SESSION['task1'] == 'done') {echo '<div>Completed</div>';} else{ echo '<input type="submit" name="task_done" value="Mark As Completed" />';} ?></td> </tr> <input type="hidden" name="task_value" value="task1" /> <input type="hidden" name="task_submit" value="submitted" /> </form> <form action="" method="post"> <tr> <td>Task 1</td> <td><?php if($_SESSION['task1'] == 'done') {echo '<div>Completed</div>';} else{ echo '<input type="submit" name="task_done" value="Mark As Completed" />';} ?></td> </tr> <input type="hidden" name="task_value" value="task2" /> <input type="hidden" name="task_submit" value="submitted" /> </form> <form action="" method="post"> <tr> <td>Task 1</td> <td><?php if($_SESSION['task1'] == 'done') {echo '<div>Completed</div>';} else{ echo '<input type="submit" name="task_done" value="Mark As Completed" />';} ?></td> </tr> <input type="hidden" name="task_value" value="task3" /> <input type="hidden" name="task_submit" value="submitted" /> </form> </table> The problem that I am having is that the database is not updated with the value "done" but after submission, the screen displays "Completed" instead of "Mark As Completed". So the value is being picked up as "done", but that is why I have the SELECT after the UPDATES, so that there is always a current value for whether a task is done or not. Then I refresh and the screen returns the button to Mark As Complete. Also, when I try marking all three tasks as, sometimes all three are updated, sometimes only one or two and again, I leave the page or refresh and the "Marked As Completed" buttons come back. Bizarre. If anyone can tell me where my logic is going wrong, I would appreciate it. I am trying to update a mysql table called AvItems with the value 'Torso' in the Equip "section?" I have been through the forums and cannot see anything to match. I dont mind if the page looses the onsubmit() and has a button instead. This is what I have for a form and all looks well. form.php <?php // run the query and put the results in an array variable called $result $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM table ORDER BY 'id', 'title', 'text', 'number'"); print "<form method='post' action='update.php'> <table width='100%' border='0' cellspacing='1' cellpadding='1'><tr> <td align='center'><strong>ID</strong></td> <td align='center'><strong>Title</strong></td> <td align='center'><strong>text</strong></td> <td align='center'><strong>Number</strong></td> </tr>\n"; // start a loop to print all of the courses with their book information // the mysql_fetch_array function puts each record into an array. each time it is called, it moves the array counter up until there are no more records left while ($Update = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { // start displaying the info; the most important part is to make the name an array (notice bookinfo[$i]) print "<td align='center'><p>{$Update['id']}</p></td>\n"; print "<td align='center'><input type='text' name='title' value='{$Update['title']}' /></td>"; print "<td align='center'><input type='text' size='40' name='text' value='{$Update['text']}' /></td>\n"; print "<td align='center'><input type='text' size='40' name='number' value='{$Update['number']}' /></td>\n"; print "</tr>\n"; // add 1 to the count, close the loop, close the form, and the mysql connection } print "<tr> <td colspan='4' align='center'><input type='submit' value='submit' />"; print "</td> </tr> </table> </td> </tr> </form> </table>"; print "</tr>\n"; ?><br /><br /> My question is. How do I update this info into the database with the proper info. ie. Update.php?
In the same $-POST , i wanted to perform update and delete. With the updated and deleted database, I need to select the updated data from the database. There are about 400 records in a database with a field zabp_package = T_SIMT. They were uploaded in an order where specific category lists were uploaded together. For example, first 100 dining, then 75 insurance, then 150 health, then 75 cars. So from an auto increment standpoint they were inserted in that order. I want to select at random 100 of these 400 and update two fields. My update statement is: update `usersOld` SET `m_org` = 'ZABP.org Corporate HQ' , `m_orgID` = 'PFL2a96bW' WHERE `zabp_package` = 'T_SIMT' This works for all, I just need to limit a random selection to 100. Any Help on this, thanks in advance. Or something like that... I am not sure how to put this.. Anyway, I'll just get started with explaining my problem. I have an admin-page in which you can delete the comments given on blogs, using checkboxes and clicking on a button with the value 'verwijderenSubmit'. The deletion part works just fine, nothing wrong. However, I also want to be able to EDIT the comments with an other button called 'bewerkenSubmit', using the same checkboxes that I use for deletion. Selecting the right CID (CommentID) is no problem, because that works the same as the deletion-part, but selecting the right textarea to update into the database is the problem... I uploaded a file here with the whole code: http://dhost.info/ddfs/myproblem.html I escaped the textarea within with square brackets, because otherwise the whole textarea would screw up.. I also added <!-- RELEVANT CODE --> to select the parts that I need to change. Well, I hope you understand my problem and can help. Hi, all... have a basic question here as a newbie that I am... Many times, in some scripts I see (I think, if not mistaken), places where within a echo sentence I see variables echoed like this with no quotes: echo "First Name: $firstName and Last Name: $lastName"; as opposed to like one would expect: echo "First Name: " . $firstName . " and Last Name: " . $lastName"; Sometimes I see that also when variables are used in select/update statements I think.. like this: $query = mysql_query("SELECT FROM table WHERE column = $columnname"); Instead of like this within quotes: $query = mysql_query("SELECT FROM table WHERE column = '$columnname'"); Is it because some of these values may be numbers (numeric) as opposed to "strings"?? Not sure if I make sense... appreciate teh feedback, Thanks! I have a form that I have programmed in PHP and upon completion of the form, sends the inputed information to my clients e-mail (acts as a lead) and redirects the user to the main part of the website, where you can access all of the content. Now, I need a little assistance on how to make it so if the same user comes back to the site again, they won't always have to fill out the form and it will just forward them to the main page. Clarification: This is what I'm trying to figure out When you go to the url for the first time, the index page has the form on it that must be filled out before you can access the rest of the pages on the website (I have this set as a redirect in the php processing after you submit the form). What coding would I have to add to the html on the form page (index) and/or my php processor and/or the html on the page you are redirected to? My overall goal is for the user to only see the form page once, after they have submitted it the first time, the next time they visit the url, I want them automatically re-directed to the main part of the site since they already completed the form. For Example: (I have this part programmed and working already) The user goes to http://www.example.com for the first time and they see the page with the form on it. They fill it out and click "Submit" and are re-directed to http://www.example.com/page2.html, this redirect is handled with a header "location" command. (This is the part I need help with) At a future time the same user returns to http://www.example.com and since they have already filled out the form they are automatically re-directed to http://www.example.com/page2.html without having to hit the "Submit" button or really even see the form page. Thank you very much in advance, I appreciate your help! Hi everyone, I have a form which is repopulated with cookies of user entries following an unsuccessful submit. KN Hello, first time poster.. I've looked the web over for a long time and can't figure this one out. - Below is basic code that successfully checks MySQL for a match and displays result. I was debugging and forced the "height" and "width" to be 24 and 36 to make sure that wasn't the problem. That's good.. - I'd like to give the user ability to select width and height from a form.. and have it do an onchange this.form.submit so the form can be changing as fields are altered (thus the onchange interaction) - In a normal coding environment I've done this numerous times with no "Page cannot be displayed" problems. It would simply change one select-option value at a time til they get down the form and click submit... but in WordPress I'm having trouble making even ONE single onchange work! - I've implemented the plugins they offer which allows you to "copy+paste" your php code directly into their wysiwyg editor. That works with basic tests like my first bullet point above. - I've copied and pasted the wordpress url (including the little ?page_id=123) into the form "action" url... that didn't work... tried forcing it into an <option value=""> tag.. didn't work. I'm just not sure. I've obviously put xx's in place of private info.. Why does this form give me Page Cannot Be Displayed in WordPress every time? It won't do anything no matter how simple.. using onchange.. Code.. $con = mysql_connect("xxxx.xxxxxxx.com","xxxxxx","xxxxx"); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("xxxxxx", $con); $myprodwidth=24; $myprodheight=36; $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM product_sizes WHERE prodwidth='$myprodwidth' and prodheight='$myprodheight'"); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo $row['prodprice']; } mysql_close($con); <form method="post" action=""> <select name="myheight" onchange="this.form.submit();"> <option selected="selected" value="">select height</option> <option value="xxxxxxxxx.com/wordpress/?page_id=199&height=36">36</option> <option value="xxxxxxxxx.com/wordpress/?page_id=199&height=36">48</option> </select> Hello all,
Based on the suggestion of you wonderful folks here, I went away for a few days (to learn about PDO and Prepared Statements) in order to replace the MySQLi commands in my code. That's gone pretty well thus far...with me having learnt and successfully replaced most of my "bad" code with elegant, SQL-Injection-proof code (or so I hope).
The one-and-only problem I'm having (for now at least) is that I'm having trouble understanding how to execute an UPDATE query within the resultset of a SELECT query (using PDO and prepared statements, of course).
Let me explain (my scenario), and since a picture speaks a thousand words I've also inlcuded a screenshot to show you guys my setup:
In my table I have two columns (which are essentially flags i.e. Y/N), one for "items alreay purchased" and the other for "items to be purchased later". The first flag, if/when set ON (Y) will highlight row(s) in red...and the second flag will highlight row(s) in blue (when set ON).
I initially had four buttons, two each for setting the flags/columns to "Y", and another two to reverse the columns/flags to "N". That was when I had my delete functionality as a separate operation on a separate tab/list item, and that was fine.
Now that I've realized I can include both operations (update and delete) on just the one tab, I've also figured it would be better to pare down those four buttons (into just two), and set them up as a toggle feature i.e. if the value is currently "Y" then the button will set it to "N", and vice versa.
So, looking at my attached picture, if a person selects (using the checkboxes) the first four rows and clicks the first button (labeled "Toggle selected items as Purchased/Not Purchased") then the following must happen:
1. The purchased_flag for rows # 2 and 4 must be switched OFF (set to N)...so they will no longer be highlighted in red.
2. The purchased_flag for row # 3 must be switched ON (set to Y)...so that row will now be highlighted in red.
3. Nothing must be done to rows # 1 and 5 since: a) row 5 was not selected/checked to begin with, and b) row # 1 has its purchase_later_flag set ON (to Y), so it must be skipped over.
Looking at my code below, I'm guessing (and here's where I need the help) that there's something wrong in the code within the section that says "/*** loop through the results/collection of checked items ***/". I've probably made it more complex than it should be, and that's due to the fact that I have no idea what I'm doing (or rather, how I should be doing it), and this has driven me insane for the last 2 days...which prompted me to "throw in the towel" and seek the help of you very helpful and intellegent folks. BTW, I am a newbie at this, so if I could be provided the exact code, that would be most wonderful, and much highly appreciated.
Thanks to you folks, I'm feeling real good (with a great sense of achievement) after having come here and got the great advice to learn PDO and prepared statements.
Just this one nasty little hurdle is stopping me from getting to "end-of-job" on my very first WebApp. BTW, sorry about the long post...this is the best/only way I could clearly explaing my situation.
Cheers guys!
