PHP - Changing Default Select Position Due To Mysql Result...

Me again... Essentially what i am doing is pulling data from a MySQL database about the number of thumbnails on a page. The user can then change this using a <select> dropdown menu. How ever, i want the <select> to default to the amount already specified by the Database. I know i can do this by inserting a Selected attribute to one of the <options> but what is the best way of doing this? I am grabbing the location name and phone number from locations. Then inserting them into tours. So after the form is submitted, I want the location name to stay in the dropdown. BTW Official Files is not actually a type so that's why I chose to give it a small letter o and will work the same way as All Types but run a different function. $fileby is used for the OrderBy field. $filedir is for the Acending field. The other data is for the other parts of the script. If you like you can give advice on the name's default because you may have a better method then what I have in my head. Hi there, i've had a good look around the forums and on various other sites and can't get my head around a silly little php issue i'm having and was wondering if any of the php guru's on here could possibly provide me with a simple answer/solution please, i've not even been able to get results for what i'm trying to do, as I haven't known the best text to search for this little thing. I'm retrieving data from mysql and one of the cells that I parse the results for always has either a Y or an N for that field. I'm having no issues getting it to display the Y or the N correctly. However... Rather than have it display just an N or a Y, i've been trying to get PHP to make it display either a YES or a NO instead, purely for cosmetic purposes. I would like to use the following mysqli query in order to count the appearances of each value in this column:

Hi guys and gals , got a minor problem. I have a table in which i want the "photo" column to have a default value of "noimage.jpg". I set the default value to "noimage.jpg" and put "as defined" too. but when i fill the form in and leave the upload field blank it doesnt show the noimage.jpg as it should and in the mysql table it leaves it blank and not with default value. I'm having some issues with a select statement containing ABS().
Here's the select query:

In my table I have the values for coulmn "husnr": 13,12,11,10,9 What really bugs me is the outcome doing af simple "while loop" is returning the values 12,11,10,9. What happened to 13?! printing the "husnr_range" values shows "3,4,5,6". What puzzles is the row missing, as I only get 4 results, with a "LIMIT 5". Can anyone explain why the last resulst isn't included?

I am working on a project that uses a drop down list to chose the category when inserting new data into the database. What I want to do now is make the drop down list default to the chosen category on the list records page and the update page. I have read several tutorials, but they all say that I have to list the options and then select the default. But since it is possible to add and remove categories, this approch won't work. I need the code to chose the correct category on the fly. There are two tables, one that has the category ID and category name. The second table has the data and the catid which is referenced to the category id in the first table.
