PHP - Xml Element

I want to iterate through each element on an html page and echo each element's name. I thought this should work:

Given the following example code; if a function were passed the value of $id is there a way to point to the previous or next element in the array to retrieve their values.

Of course those $strings are defined.  So the output of that is:

But I'm clueless, with everything having the Object , I'm not sure how to grab the particular part that I want.  Can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction?

I'm building a script which reads a XML document, and so far so good... until now!

the document uses '-' extensively all the way through it (not something that I would have chosen) so to combat this I've used {}.

The part of the document I am working on now, this simply does not work, and I really cannot see why...

This is frustrating the hell out of me, and I cannot see why this would work everywhere else in the XML document but not here.

How to avoid '|' for the last element of any aaray. Also if array contains only 1 element '|' should not appear.

For eample,

In the browser it should display as "Virender Sehwag | Sachin Tendulkar".

If the array contains only 1 element then, In the browser it should display as Virender Sehwag

if array contains 3 elements,

Virender Sehwag | Sachin Tendulkar | someword

Ok I've a very simple code he

The output is:

Now instead of returning all the other elements, I just need to display only the first element in the array that is the value 'Joe'.

I tried
$val[name];

Output I get is not what I want:

I have made a PHP script that will feed an existing XML file. The file stores song details like, title, name of singer etc ...
Now the file structure is like this for the moment:

I need it to be like that so if I want to delete a song from the list I just check for the element which will have a unique mainTitle and then delete that element with all it's details.

Now, I've searched on Google for some solutions but didn't find any yet.

Anyone here knows how to do this?

I am trying to break down an array to make it easier to read. An array that looks like Array ( => 0 [1] => 0 [2] => 0 [3] => 0012844 1 [4] => 37 [5] => 1 etc...) I want to display it like: Code: [Select]

I am using session variables to keep track of what is in a shopping cart. I can add the items to the cart quite easily enough. But my problem is that I can't delete a specific item in the cart. Below is a summary of what the array looks like

However when I attempt to delete any of the top level elements (1,2,3,4,NumItems), I either end up deleting only the last element (4) or somehow taking out 2 of them. I know that this must be an easy fix but I've looked at it for so long that I can't seem to figure out what the problem is.

Can anyone take a look at this and point me in the correct direction? What I am after is to delete any element of the top array and keep the rest.

Usually it would be something like:

 $("#lblpasswordmessage").html("Password is too short"); 

But how do you do it using a variable? For example say the variable is called 'pwm';

 $("#pwm").html("Password is too short"); 
 $("pwm").html("Password is too short"); 
 $(pwm).html("Password is too short");
