PHP - Post The Most Epic /confusing Code You Can Create
Rules:
1) It has to be legit and actually work and have a useful function in society/web world. 2) The code cannot be minimized into one line. It has to have line breaks. (Not necessarily for each new function or short hand property, but so it's partly readable) 3) It has to be written in PHP or Javascript. For example, (Not my original code) but I'll start: A time_ago function: function timeago($tm,$rcs = 0) { $cur_tm = time(); $dif = $cur_tm-$tm; $pds = array('second','minute','hour','day','week','month','year','decade'); $lngh = array(1,60,3600,86400,604800,2630880,31570560,315705600); for($v = sizeof($lngh)-1; ($v >= 0)&&(($no = $dif/$lngh[$v])<=1); $v--); if($v < 0) $v = 0; $_tm = $cur_tm-($dif%$lngh[$v]); $no = floor($no); if($no <> 1) $pds[$v] .='s'; $x = sprintf("%d %s ",$no,$pds[$v]); if(($rcs == 1)&&($v >= 1)&&(($cur_tm-$_tm) > 0)) $x .= time_ago($_tm); return $x; }Your turn! Similar TutorialsHi, I'm just trying out some basic code and playing around with passing variables by reference and i was reading this on the php manual at this page http://php.net/manual/en/language.references.pass.php : No other expressions should be passed by reference, as the result is undefined. For example, the following examples of passing by reference are invalid: <?php function foo(&$var) { $var++; } function bar() // Note the missing & { $a = 5; return $a; } foo(bar()); // Produces fatal error since PHP 5.0.5 foo($a = 5); // Expression, not variable foo(5); // Produces fatal error ?> So, i decided to try it out myself like i always do, and i noticed that i'm not getting an error when i do foo(bar()); i.e calling bar() without the & in the function declaration. Infact it works perfectly fine and returns an incremented $a after its passed to foo(). Likewise foo($a = 5); also works great and returns an incremented $a after being passed to foo(). Is this a mistake in the manual or am i missing something? Running PHP 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.5 I can not seem to figure out how to do this.. I just need to add 100+99+98+97+96...+1 no you can not do 100! because that multiples them =] Hello to everyone,
I have a strange problem and I'm not able to solve it by myself and I need your help!
I have three simple checkboxes that process via POST their value. But with PHP I cannot have an array with the three indexes (if everyone checked) but only an array with the first checkbox checked. The code is very simple:
<?php $scelta = isset($_POST['user_rights']) ? $_POST['user_rights'] : array(); if (isset($_POST["user_rights"])){ print_r($scelta);}else{ ?> <form method="post"><input type="checkbox" name="user_rights[]" value="0"> 0<br><input type="checkbox" name="user_rights[]" value="1"> 1<br><input type="checkbox" name="user_rights[]" value="2"> 2 <input type="submit"></form> <?php} ?>The output if I check all the checkboxes is: Array ( [0] => 0 ) If I try this code on another server it works (it returns the complete array), but if i run it on my web server, it doesn't (it returns only the first item). Do you have any experience with this error? Do you know if there is some configuration to change? Thanks in advance. Rob Hi, i have tried everything i can think of to get this to work correctly. What is below here, is what i have last tried to work with..: basically the script allows the use to register an email account on a cpanel domain. Everything works perfectly but then i added a option for banned words now i cant get the script to work.. basically what happens is: the user creates an email account, if the account is not a banned word and does not exist, then the message echoes success, and the $_Post values are also entered into the database under the users name. and the email is also created with the $f fopen if success the email form also does not show.. so only one email per user.. i just cant get it to work with the banned words included.. what to note:: this is a function in a function.. $bannedemailwords='customerinformation,custinfo,customerinfo,custtext,custsupport,customersupport,admin,accounts'; $bannedmail=explode(',', $bannedemailwords); $bannedmail = array_unique($bannedmail); sort($bannedmail); foreach($bannedmail as $noemail) //the selected username if ($Config['enablemyemailapp_enable'] == '0' && $_POST['cfg_enablemyemailappaddress_enable'] !== $noemaill && $_POST['cfg_enablemyemailappaddressdomain_enable'] !== 'Select a domain'){ $cpuser = 'ausername'; $cppass = 'apassword'; $cpdomain = 'adomain'; $cpskin = 'askin'; $epass = 'somepassword'; $equota = 'somequota'; $euser = $_POST['cfg_enablemyemailappaddress_enable']; $epass = $_POST['emailspassword_enable']; $edomain = $_POST['cfg_enablemyemailappaddressdomain_enable']; if (!empty($euser) && $euser !=='nomail') while(true) { $f = fopen ("http://$cpuser:$cppass@$cpdomain:2082/frontend/$cpskin/mail/doaddpop.html?email=$euser&domain=$edomain&password=$epass"a=$equota", "r"); if (!$f) { $enablemyemailapp_enable = '0'; $enablemyemailappaddress_enable = 'Replace with a Name'; $enablemyemailappaddressdomain_enable = 'Select a domain'; $msgemail = 'The email '.$euser.'@'.$edomain.' is a restricted email account.'; break; } $enablemyemailapp_enable = '1'; $enablemyemailappaddress_enable = $_POST['cfg_enablemyemailappaddress_enable']; $enablemyemailappaddressdomain_enable = $_POST['cfg_enablemyemailappaddressdomain_enable']; $msgemail ='<center><font color="#ff0033">Your Email '.$euser.'@'.$edomain.' has been created.</font></center>'; while (!feof ($f)) { $line = fgets ($f, 1024); if (ereg ("already exists", $line, $out)) { $enablemyemailapp_enable = '0'; $enablemyemailappaddress_enable = 'Replace with a Name'; $enablemyemailappaddressdomain_enable = 'Select a domain'; $msgemail ='<center><font color="#ff0033">The email account '.$euser.'@'.$edomain.' already exists.</font></center><br><center>Please try again!</center>'; break; } } echo $msgemail; $_POST['cfg_enablemyemailapp_enable']= $enablemyemailapp_enable; $_POST['cfg_enablemyemailappaddress_enable']=$enablemyemailappaddress_enable; $_POST['cfg_enablemyemailappaddressdomain_enable']=$enablemyemailappaddressdomain_enable; @fclose($f); break; } } Ok, so first off, here is how the tables are setup: Cars_Table | ID, CatID Categories_Table | ID, Parent_ID, Name Now, both parent categories and sub-categories are in the same table. the C_Table.CatID shows only the sub-category the item is in. How would I make a list of the distinct names of Parent category names (those with Parent_ID = 0) in ASC order, but I want to only pull the parent categories for which there is an item associated. Essentially, the makes and models of the cars are stored in the same table, the Makes are the ones with Parent_ID = 0 and the Models also have parent ID's. The Cars_Table.CatID only shows the Model ID. I'm still fairly new to PHP and this one is really confusing me O.o what would be the correct way to add an MD5 has to the following POST code? $_POST['pass'] = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST ['pass']); '".$_POST ['pass']."', thanks in advance! I have some data that the user can search by using their post code. I want to results to be relevant to the users postcode. For example the user can search through local events by their post code and I want to data returned to be near their postcode. So if the user looks for events near Manchester I want it to return the surround area e.g Manchester, Leeds etc. Although I think for this I'm going to need some kind of algorithm. Has anyone done something like this in the past and could point me in the right direction? Thanks for any help. I'm just starting out with mysqli and php. Actually I more or less know how to create/connect/populate mysqli databases through php. But I can only do so by using a separate php page for each objective. Anyway, I learning with the kindle version of Joy of Php. The code though isn't very good...I had to edit it just to make it conform to php/mysqli syntax. Programmer's Notebook was a big help actually.
Anyway, I just wanted to point out my experience level. Below is the code, I haven't run it through wamp (Phpmyadmi) yet, only because it probably won't run and I'll be crushed...side note: it took me a while to figure out that tables and databases require the use ` and not '. The book doesn't even mention the difference!!!!
Anyway, can someone tell me if this edited code is viable? I'm concerned about line 4: $mysqli.... since this is wamp, and I log into phpmyadmin via -u root -p , -p NULL in the code is correct yes?
<?php /*Joy of PHP sample code*/ $mysqli = new mysqli('localhost', 'root', NULL ); if (mysqli_connect_error()) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysqli_connect_error()); } echo 'Connected successfully to mySQL.'; /* Create table doesn't return a resultset */ if ($mysqli->query("CREATE DATABASE Cars") === TRUE) { echo "Database Cars created"; } else { echo "Error creating Cars database: " . $mysqli->error."<br>"; } $mysqli->select_db("Cars"); Echo ("Selected the Cars database"); $query= " CREATE TABLE INVENTORY (VIN varchar(17) PRIMARY KEY, YEAR INT, Make varch(50), Model varchar(100))"; //echo "<p>*****</p>"; //echo $query; //echo "<p>*****</p>"; if ($mysqli->query ($query) === TRUE) { echo "<p>Database table 'INVENTORY' CREATED</p>"; } else { echo "<p> ERROR: </p>" . mysqli_error($mysqli); } $query = "INSERT INTO `cars` . `inventory` (`VIN`, `YEAR`, `Make`, `Model`) VALUES '5FNYF4H91CB054036', '2012', 'Honda', Pilot')"; if ($mysqli->query($query) === TRUE) { echo "<p>Honda Pilot inserted into inventory table. </p>"; } else { echo "<p>Error inserting Honda Pilot:</p>" . mysqli_error($mysqli); echo "<p>*****</p>"; echo $query; echo "<p>*****</p>"; } //Insert a Dodge Durango $query= "INSERT INTO `cars` . `inventory` ('VIN', 'YEAR', 'Make', 'Model') VALUES ('LAKSDFJ234LASKRF2', '2009', 'Dodge', 'Durango')"; if ($mysqli->query($query) ===TRUE) { echo "<p>Dodge Durango inserted into inventory table </p>"; } else { echo "<p>Error inserting Dodge: </p>" . mysqli_error($mysqli); echo "<p>*****</p>"; echo $query; echo "<p>*****</p>"; } $mysqli->close(); ?>Thank you, I apologize if I seem critical of the book but it really skips over A LOT of stuff that newbies don't necessarily know (example: -u something -p = username something and password is blank) Edited by baltar, 17 May 2014 - 05:59 PM. Hello,
I would like to create a window through JavaScript with PHP code that would insert data into a database, but I don't know if it's possible, because I tried everything I could so far and had no results at all.
The code I am using is
<script language="JavaScript"> <!-- top.consoleRef = new Object(); top.consoleRef.closed = true; function writeConsole(content) { top.consoleRef=window.open('em_branco.php','myconsole','width=350,height=250') top.consoleRef.document.writeln( '<html><head><title>página nova</title></head><body><?php $db = pg_connect("host=localhost dbname=dpf_db user=postgres password=asdasd"); $query = "INSERT INTO tbl_dummy(nome) VALUES(' + '´treco´' + ')"; $result = pg_query($query); if (!$result) { $errormessage = pg_last_error(); echo "Error with query: " . $errormessage; exit(); } printf ("These values were inserted into the database"); pg_close(); ?></body></html>' ) //top.consoleRef.document.close() } //--> </script>Note that line 13 has a sort of aberration, because I'd need three kinds of quotes, and not only two (the +'´treco´' stuff). And I don't know how to circumvent this, because escaping didn't work either. Any help is most welcome, and thank you in advance for your attention. Nicole I was wondering if you loop through an array and in the foreach() you specify an if statement that unsets certain items from the array, if those get unset from the original loop. Probably doesn't make much sense so heres an example Code: [Select] <?php //say there are 3 items in the $parent array //say there are 10 items in the $items array //say only the second item in the $items array value_one equals "abcd" foreach($parent as $id => $value) { foreach($items as $key => $value) { if($items[$key]['value_one'] == "abcd") { unset($items[$key]); } } } ?> So on the first item in the parent array, all 10 items would be cycled through. On the second second item of the parent array, all 10 items would be cycled through and the one item that has value_one == "abcd" would be unset. So on the third item of the parent array, am i correct in assuming only 9 items would be cycled through because there would be only 9 items in the $items array? Everytime I test my page, I seem to get a parse error, in which I have tried to identify the problem but I am stumped as to what it is. This is the error... Code: (error) [Select] Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '}' in C:\xampp\htdocs\drew\film.php on line 21 The php code (lines 21-24 relevant to the error) are below... <?php if($flm == "73d0" || $flm == "9017" || $flm == "c3a2") {$pass = 1}else {$pass = 2} ?> <?php if ($pass != 1) { ?><meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=/drew/"><?php }else { ?> <?php echo "hello"; } ?> If you could help, thanks in advance. I created a new homepage for my network of sites I run. I tried to go for a simple and clean look. The pages themselves function how I'd like, but I'm unsure if the menu system is easy to understand or not.
I even added a time limited message on the front page of the site indicating that the logo was clickable, but purposely left it off of other sub-pages to try and keep the design as clean as possible.
Check it out, let me know what you think.

Hello together, I'm still relatively new with PHP and I'm encountering an error with the error code (Warning: Undefined array key "title" in I:\xampp\htdocs\test\Datenspeichern.php on line 13 to 17.). Normally I wanted that when I enter the data in the fields from the CD_Website page, that it is inserted in my created database and displayed in the table on the page. Does anyone know where my error is? Thanks a lot

Hey php developers. I'm Brent from Beanstream. We just recently opened up some code bounties to create a PHP SDK that uses our payment gateway API. Each bounty is around 1-5 hours work and their reward is between $150 and $400. The SDK is open source (MIT license) and will be hosted on GitHub. There are already 2 other SDKs written in Java and C# that use the same RESTful payments API, so a lot of the code and functionality can be copied over to the PHP SDK. If you are interested in helping out you can sign up here. You can also check out Beanstream's Payments API to see what the SDK will be implementing: http://developer.beanstream.com Feel free to message me if you have questions. Cheers, Brent Beanstream Internet Commerce Hey guys, First post here, so feel free to flame me if im violating the rules somehow. So, the issue is this: i built an ebay listing creator for a customer. it conssists of a form with several fields being posted to a page that assembles everything into a listing (text, images, radio buttons etc.). now, what i want to do is to easily allow the customer to copy the compiled source code into the clipboard (or a txt file, doesnt really matters) - in order to easily copy it into ebay. I tried it with CURL, but all i get is the source without the posted information. I must be missing something there. Any help would be appreciated, if you need links or codes iv's used, ill provide. Thanks in advance! Hello, I am novice in PHP, I read book and try to write some PHP code, but I don't have success in that my attempt. Do someone can to help me? I think that this what I work isn't hard, but I don't know to do. I need to create in PHP some code which will: 1. In text field I enter some words in 2-3 rows, example word11 word12 word13 word21 word22 word23 word31 word32 word33 and click to button Convert, 2. After click on that button php script will take that words and convert into this mode: word11-word12-word13(TAB here without space)word11 word12 word23 word21-word22-word23(TAB here without space)word21 word22 word23 word31-word32-word33(TAB here without space)word31 word32 word33 (spaces between words will convert into - and between first and second mode with TAB) 3. On that way converted text to be saved into new file which will be with name of first line "word11 word12 word13". I know procedure to make this, but I don't know syntax very well Can someone write me code or part of code, to give me idea how I to make this? Thank you very much, Mladen <?php query_posts('meta_key=post_views_count&posts_per_page=3&orderby=meta_value_num& order=DESC'); if (have_posts()) : while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?> <ul class="rpul"> <li> <div class="class="post-thumb wp-post-image" style=' '> <?php if ( has_post_thumbnail() ) : ?> <?php the_post_thumbnail('thumbnail') ?> <?php endif ?> </div><div class='cat-post-text'> <h1> <a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>"><?php the_title(); ?>
Alright, wasn't quite sure how to summarize this in the title, but I want to: Check if a user status is "active" or not based on the UserName input. I have a table witch holds: Code: [Select] VarChar Username Var CharPassWord int Active Ted TedsPW 1 something like the above(assuming it formatted correctly. In my php script I will want to input a variable for Username to check for: inputUN in this example would be "Ted". $UserNameToCheck = $_GET['inputUN']; Then I want to check for that UserName in the database, if it exists, I want pull the value for the "Active" field for just that UserName and echo it. Thanks for any help. Hey Guys. I am working with a form that shows the grand total on the checkout page. The value of the grand total is inside a hidden field. When click on submit, the _POST array doesn't get back the last value of the grand total. I need to hit the button twice to get the last value. The weird thing is when I echo the value of the grand total it display the latest value, but not with the POST array
For example. If the grand total is $10.00 and I click on submit. It will show the POST['grand_total'] as empty. If I click on submit again it will show the grand total of $10.00.
Below is my code that I am working with. Any help would be really appreciated.
