PHP - Save Data To Database Checkboxe Values Checked Or Not
I have a table made up of time slots, when the user clicks maybe one or two and presses submit, i would like the date selected and the time slots chosen to be saved in to my sql.
I am working on the query but a little stuck in regards to the query, i have done the following:
<?php $username = "root"; $password = ""; $hostname = "localhost"; $dbhandle = mysql_connect($hostname, $username, $password) or die ("no connection to database"); if(isset($_POST['Submit'])){ $start = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['start']); $end = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['end']); $booked = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['booked']); $selected = mysql_select_db("booking", $dbhandle); ?>i have set the table as follows <input data-val='08:30 - 08:45' class='fields' type='checkbox' name="booked[]" /> Similar TutorialsWhat I have so far is a page that produces a list of usernames with checkboxes next to them. From the usernames that I check, I want to update a field for each of those users. My problem is that the number of checkboxes I check is not going to be static so I am pretty sure I have to run a loop based on the number of checked checkboxes ("People chosen"). Here is what I have so far: Code: [Select] <?php if (isset($_POST['submit1'])) { $pick = $_POST["pick"]; $how_many = count($pick); echo 'People chosen: '.$how_many.'<br><br>'; echo "<br><br>"; $count = 0; while ($count < $how_many) { //mysql code probably should go here but I am stuck $count++; } } else { $gender = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['Gender']); $limit = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['limit']); echo $gender; echo "<br />"; $count = 0; if ($gender == 'Male') { $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users WHERE gender =\"1\" LIMIT 0, $limit", $connection); if (!$result) { die("Database query failed: " . mysql_error()); } ?> <form method="post"> <?php while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { ?> <input name="pick[]" type="checkbox" value="<?php echo $row['username'] ?>"><?php echo $row['username'];?> <br /> <?php } ?> <input type="submit" name="submit1" value="Make Offer" /> </form> <?php } ?> I hope this makes sense. Any help would be greatly appreciated. hello, i'm actually doing a javascript here to create dynamic textboxes when a button is clicked. now my problem is, how to get all the values from these textboxes and save these values altogether in a column on the table.. i know few php coding methods like $_POST in handling values from txtboxes and saving it to database but it doesn't include working with javascript and dynamic textboxes.. and i'm actually doubtful if this is possible..so any help from you guys i would deeply appreciate. heres my code: Code: [Select] <html> <head> <script type="text/JavaScript"> function AddTextBox() { document.getElementById('container').innerHTML+='<input type="text" name="block"><br>'; } </script> </head> <body> <input type="text" name="block"> <div id="container"></div> <br> <button onclick="AddTextBox();">Add another textbox</button> </body> </html>

Does anyone has any ideas! This is actually a page to edit the drama details. Database- 3 tables 1. drama dramaID drama_title 1 friends 2. drama_genre drama_genreID dramaID genreID 1 1 2 2 1 1 3 1 3 3. genre genreID genre 1 comedy 2 romance 3 family 4 suspense 5 war 6 horror <?php $dbhost = 'localhost'; $dbuser = 'root'; $dbpass = ''; $dbname = 'drama'; $link = mysqli_connect($dbhost, $dbuser, $dbpass, $dbname) or trigger_error('Error connecting to mysql'); $id = $_GET['dramaID']; $link2 = mysqli_connect($dbhost, $dbuser, $dbpass, $dbname) or trigger_error('Error connecting to mysql'); $sql2 = "SELECT * from drama , drama_genre , genre WHERE drama.dramaID='".$id."' I'm also wondering how I can bring all the drama_genreIDs to my save(doupdate.php) page and update all 3 of them because it seems like only the last dropdown menu's data is saved. And also how can I display only 6 genres instead of 7 with the genre that belongs to the drama , being set as the default selection. This is more of a database architect question.
I am building a CMS for website development. I am ready to use it for the first time on one of my clients. Now, my issue is is how to set up some or one of my table(s) for some areas that my client wants to be able to change in the admin section.
In their website on the front page, I put together this nice block slider. Its 6 blocks with text, a background image and nice effects. At first it was always going to be static, which was no issue at all, but later they came to me and asked if they could be able to change words in the boxes themselves in the admin section..
Of course this can be easily done by creating a table that is associated with this home page block thing and each row in the table will correspond to one of the blocks on the home page.
But I believe there might be an easier way to store this type of data without having to create another table for every feature the client wants to edit, for example they also want to be able to edit a slider on another page.
The WordPress database then came into my mind and how they store most of their data as JSON. So I was then thinking of creating a table named 'modules' for examples with three columns (id, title, data). Then inside the data column store the editable fields as a JSON string object.
For example a row could like like :
1, "Front Page Box Slider", {"slider-home" : [ {"data" : "value", "img_1", "value1"}, {"data" : "value", "img_2", "value2"} ]}
I've been doing a bit of research on this and people have just been saying, never do this if you do want your data to be searched through, which I don't.
Can anyone tell me why or why not I should do this, or maybe a better solution to my problem?
Thank you
Edited by carlosmoreeira, 17 September 2014 - 07:37 PM. hi all I have 3 checkboxes whose values are getting stored in the database with a comma separator. Code: [Select] <input name="color[]" type="checkbox" value="red" id="red" />red <input name="color[]" type="checkbox" value="blue" id="blue" />blue <input name="color[]" type="checkbox" value="green" id="green" />green values getting stored with comma separator Code: [Select] red, blue, green now i want to show the checkboxes as "checked" to show the customer as which colors they chose lasttime when they submitted the form. How can i make it possible ? If it is possible without the comma separator then i can remove the comma. vineet I use the following code to generate a scrollable checkbox list of options: Code: [Select] <html> <form action="SCRIPT.php"> <?php $expList = array('Engineering ','Science', 'Art', 'IT', 'Electronics', 'Communications'); sort($expList); $tmp = array(); $i = 1; $tmp[] = '<ul style="height: 95px; overflow: auto; width: 200px; border: 1px solid #480091; list-style-type: none; margin: 0; padding: 0;">'; foreach ($expList as $option) { $tmp[] = '<li id="li' . $i . 'b"><label for="chk' . $i . 'b"><input name="chk' . $i . 'b" id="chk' . $i . 'b" type="checkbox" onchange="Enable(\'chk' . $i . 'b\',\'li' . $i . 'b\')">' . $option . '</label></li>'; $i++; } $tmp[] = '</ul>'; echo implode("\n",$tmp) . "\n"; ?> <input type="submit"> </form> </html> But there are in fact over 50 options (not just 6) and they are in fact stored in an array $expList in an external php file called LISTS.php. As you can see, the checkbox list consists of checkboxes chk1b, chk2b, chk3b, etc. with associated labels (Art, Communications, Electronics, etc.). What I need in SCIPT.php is code that will insert each of the labels where the associated checkbox has been checked in my MySQL database. E.g. in this particular case: if chk1b & chk3b have been checked, 'Art' & 'Electronics' will be inserted. Also, I want the label of the first checked checkbox to be inserted in the (database) table column 'Exp1', the 2nd one in 'Exp2'.........25th one in 'Exp25' (I already have a script that allows a maximum of 25 checkboxes to be checked). I'm guessing some sort of 'foreach' loop is required, but I can't quite work it out. Pls help! Many thanks! Well, folks, thanks to all the help, I've narrowed my problem down to needing a way to allow a variable value to traverse into subsequent calls of a function. I have a simple integer - "companyID", and it's set in "actionfile.php" which is called by two forms. The first time it's called by Form A, it's set. I'd LIKE to put it into $_SESSION, but apparently $_SESSION is zeroed out before I can use it in the second call to "actionfile.php" by Form B. A new form/function call is a new session? I've tried setting it to global and static, to no avail. Anything more elegant than writing the value to SQL for later retrieval? Thanks! Mark Hello,
I want to show checkbox is checked when there is entry of that id in a table in my database.
I have 2 tables page and access_level. I am getting data from page table and displays it in <ul><li> tag with checkbox to select all or only few. After selecting the checkbox, i will store only selected checkbox value in access_level table along with table id. Page link and page name details will be stored in page table.
Now if i want to edit , i should display all the pages which is there in page table and i should also mark checked to those which are already stored in access_level table.
I am using LEFT OUT JOIN, It displays all the pages. But it is not displaying the check mark to those which are already selected.
Here is my code
<?php $s1 = mysql_query("SELECT pages.page_id, pages.code, pages.page, pages.href, access_level.aid, access_level.page_id as pgid, access_level.department, access_level.position, access_level.active FROM pages LEFT OUTER JOIN access_level ON pages.page_id=access_level.page_id WHERE access_level.department=".$department." AND access_level.position=".$position." AND pages.code='sn'") or die(mysql_error()); while($s2 = mysql_fetch_array($s1)) { ?> <tr><td><li><?php echo $s2['page']; ?> </td><td><input type="checkbox" name="sn[]" value="<?php echo $s2['page_id']; ?>" <?php if($row['pgid'] === $s2['page_id']) echo 'checked="checked"';?> />here is my pages table pages.JPG 26.55KB 0 downloads access_level access_level.JPG 19.09KB 0 downloads In access_level table i do not have page ids 8 and 9. But i want to display that also from pages table and for 1 to 7 and 10 i should display check mark. How i can achieve this? Please Help Dear All Members here is my table data.. Thank You Edited February 8, 2020 by karthicbabuI need to add date of birth field to registration form and then save it to databse. I cannot figure out what might be best way of storing the date in the table. I could convert it to unix epoch time, or I could do YYYYMMDD.
Thoughts? What would be the easiest method of saving the DOB?
I am not asking on how to do it, just the format. Thanks

I have html form and verify post data via pgp how can I save someone data if some one fill incorrect information yes how?
if you don't understand what do i mean, look on the textarea input, when i type some data in list format they are going to be saved in single column but i cant retrieve them as list but a single paragraph. why? My current project requires me to save the number of views an image (banner ad) has appeared on users website. The problem here is that the image will be appearing on several users website and i want to be able to save the number of times it has appeared on my database. I know how to do this if the image was on the same server as the database, but not when the image and database are on completely different servers. This is somewhat like analytic where it tracks the visitors to a page. Does anyone how i can accomplish this? i figured i would need to create a JavaScript code to provide to the user so they can place it on the site but how do i get that code to connect to my database? |
