PHP - How Do You Post A Data Array Using Ajax
II am new to jscript and AJAX and have a problem that I need to solve.
I have a form on which I need to input the RGB values of a color that will be used in the next PHP file.
I have choosen a color chooser written in jscript called JS-Color.
There are a number of pre-written scripts for choosing the color, of which I have used the following:
<script type="text/javascript" src="jscolor/jscolor.js"></script> R<input id="red" size="5"> G<input id="grn" size="5"> B<input id="blu" size="5"> - - - H<input id="hue" size="5"> S<input id="sat" size="5"> V<input id="val" size="5"> <p> Choose any color: <input class="color" id="myColor" onchange=" document.getElementById('red').value = this.color.rgb[0]*100 + '%'; document.getElementById('grn').value = this.color.rgb[1]*100 + '%'; document.getElementById('blu').value = this.color.rgb[2]*100 + '%'; document.getElementById('hue').value = this.color.hsv[0]* 60 + '°'; document.getElementById('sat').value = this.color.hsv[1]*100 + '%'; document.getElementById('val').value = this.color.hsv[2]*100 + '%';">I am trying to work out how to use this to get the 3 values that I can post in a form. Looking at the internet, I have found that AJAX is the easiest way to POST from jscript. I have attempted to write some script, but I'm sure I'm way off the mark. Here is my attempt: <!--DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> Design by Free CSS Templates http://www.freecsstemplates.org Released for free under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License Name : Yosemite Description: A two-column, fixed-width design with dark color scheme. I have a form with lots of fields. How would I run a loop to get each field name and data into an array, so i can then send it off to a function to process each field name / data differently. Instead of typing all the variables in the main function name for each post. Would a foreach statement work? Here there,
This is a post for all of you ajax/php pimps who don't mind helping a beginner. I have been working on a little ajax script to filter a table called "recipes2" in a database called "recipes" using a dropdown menu. Once I get this script to work, I can run queries without having to refresh the page.
The problem, something is not right, the php script does not seem to be getting the posted data. even though the ajax script returns success when i check for it. What am I doing wrong?
Also please note that, if possible, I'd like all the code to stay on one page.
This is the SQL script if you want to create the database and table:

Here is the code, the file should be named 'filterRecipes.php'.

Hello, I've been trying this for hours now, looking at different examples and trying to change them to work for me, but with no luck... This is what I am trying to do: I have a simple form with: - 1 input field, where I can enter a number - 1 Submit Button When I enter a number into the field and click submit, I want that number to be send to the php file that is in the ajax call, then the script will take that number and run a bunch of queries and then return a new number. I want that new number to be used to call the php script via ajax again, until no number is returned, or something else is returned like the word "done" or something like that, at which point is simply makes an alert or populated a div with a message... The point is, that depending on the number entered it could take up to an hour to complete ALL the queries, so I want the script that is called to only run a fixed amount of queries at a time and then return the number it is currently at (+1), so that it can continue with the next number when it is called again. I would like to use jquery, but could also be any other way, as long as I get this to work. I already have the php script completed that needs to be called by the ajax, it returns a single number when being called. Thank you, vb I'm creating a tool for building project proposals for clients, with pricing. I have a database with two tables: services and clients. The services table looks like this: Code: [Select] | code | name | cost | +-------------+-------------+------+ | logo_design | Logo design | 10 | | web_design | Web design | 20 | The clients table looks like this: Code: [Select] | id | client | logo_design | web_design | +----+---------+-------------+------------+ | 1 | Walrus | yes | yes | | 2 | Narwhal | no | yes | How would I link the results from these two tables so that I only pull out the services each person wants from the database? Here is what I have so far: Code: [Select] <? $sql = "SELECT * FROM services"; $result = mysql_query($sql); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result,MYSQL_ASSOC)) { echo $row{'name'} . ': $' . $row{'cost'} . '<br />'; } ?> This, of course, displays all the services, with all the prices, like so: Logo design: $10 Web design: $20 I want to add something here so that based on the selected client, we see only the services/prices they selected (ol' Narwhal's page would not show the "Logo Design" line). I've got the data from "clients" pulled in to this page as well, but don't know how to relate it to "services." Thanks in advance! Let me know if I've left out any info that would help you to point me in the right direction. Hello friends, i need a help i have index.php and response.php and i am try to get data from response.php per once second and i am getting data in script tag. I want to use incoming data in php tag and i will parse the data however i cant do that anyone can help me ? So I have an AJAX call that I'm using to POST 1 variable to a PHP script I have on a separate server. The PHP takes this variable and returns data based off of what the variable is. This works on all browsers except IE9 and below. IE9 returns data but it's an error saying the variable is missing which to me shows that it isn't sending the data. Below I have the AJAX call I'm making:
(function (jQ) { var inviteID = '00000000000'; jQ.ajax({ url: 'www.example.com/test.php', type: 'POST', dataType: 'json', cache: false, data: { classID: inviteID }, error: function (data, status, error) { jQ('.statusField').append('Failu ' + data + status + error); }, success: function (data, status, error) { jQ('.statusField').append('Success: ' + data); } }); })(jQuery); And below I have the PHP script that's being used: <?php //first POST to grab token function runPost($classID) { $postdata = array( 'username' => 'username', 'password' => 'password' ); //open connection $ch = curl_init(); //set the url, POST data curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, "https://www.example.com/login"); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, 1); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, json_encode($postdata)); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_USERAGENT, 'example'); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, array('Content-Type: application/json')); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); //execute post $result = curl_exec($ch); //close connection curl_close($ch); list($message, $time, $token, $userID) = split(',', $result); list($one, $two, $three, $four, $five) = split('\"', $token); $four = json_encode($four); $four = str_replace('"','',$four); $secondaryPostData = array( 'token' => $four, 'data' => array( 'invitationID' => $classID )); //open connection $chu = curl_init(); //set the url, POST data curl_setopt($chu, CURLOPT_URL, "https://www.example.com/classID"); curl_setopt($chu, CURLOPT_POST, 1); curl_setopt($chu, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, json_encode($secondaryPostData)); curl_setopt($chu, CURLOPT_USERAGENT, 'example'); curl_setopt($chu, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, array('Content-Type: application/json')); curl_setopt($chu, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); //execute post $secondResult = curl_exec($chu); //close connection curl_close($chu); return json_encode($secondResult); } //Grab classID from javascript echo runPost(trim($_POST['classID'])); ?> Again, this works fine in everything except IE. I've tried using just $.post and even XDomainRequest() and get the same result. The network console in IE shows that the Request body does have the classID in it, but I'm guessing it's just not sending the data to the PHP script. I don't know if I'm missing something that IE needs to send this to the PHP script but any help with this would be GREATLY appreciated. I am trying to write a basic Private Messaging script.
I have my main page which lists all messages that have been received. I then want to click on an href link to run an ajax query to bring information in from another .php file which shows the content of the selected message.
But I can't fathom out how to do this with an href. First off, is it possible? If so, can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
The relevant script is:

Anybody got any suggestions? Many thanks for any help offered. I am retrieving Google Books info in JSON format and displaying it inside a div. I would like to send the contents of this div (name, title, description) to my database using Ajax.
Currently only the ISBN field sends because I have it declared as a variable. However my question is, how do I send the other fields (name, title, author). How do I declare these also, I'm not sure what format they need to be in etc.
My JS
$(document).ready(function() { $('#submit').click(function(ev) { ev.preventDefault(); var isbn = $('#isbn_search').val(); //get isbn direct from input var url='https://www.googleapis.com/books/v1/volumes?q='+isbn; $.getJSON(url,function(data){ $.each(data.items, function(entryIndex, entry){ var html = '<div class="results well">'; html += '<h3>' + entry.volumeInfo.title + '</h3>'; html += '<div class="author">' + entry.volumeInfo.authors + '</div>'; html += '<div class="description">' + entry.volumeInfo.description + '</div>'; }); }); }); });My Ajax; $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'addIsbnScript.php', data: { 'isbn' : isbn, 'title' : title 'subtitle' : subtitle, 'authors' : authors, 'description' : description }, success: function () { $.growl({ message: " Record added" }); } });Note, if i manually set the vars like below they all do successfully send to my database, so I know my query is working ok var title = "some text", var author = "some text", Var description = "some text"Thanks in advance for any help, newbie here (incase it wasn't obvious!). J Hi Everyone,
I am struggling with a pdf.
On our server I get the pdf as a byte array from the database, which I then build up in a StreamingOutput object and return as a pdf file. This is done using java using JAX-RS service.
Now when I open the path/link in my browser(chrome/firefox) the pdf opens in the browser. So this means my backend is working.
On my webapp I want to use $.ajax to download the pdf and view it in an Iframe or embed it in an <embed> or <object> tag. I need to do this as the service call is actually under username and password, and we do not create a session between the browser and the server - there is a long explanation for this.
I saw the option to use http://[username]:[password]@www.myserver.com/... but this was dropped by most browsers. This is why I am trying ajax.
Now in my ajax call I do receive the pdf in the success function as:
%PDF-1.4....This open the browser's pdfviewer correctly and every thing, but the pdf only returns blank pages. The Base64 is a java object that I found on the internet. But I have tried it without the base64 but still now luck. Here is my success function from my ajax call. success: function(data, status, xhr) { var pdfText = Base64.encode(xhr.responseText); var url = "data:application/pdf;base64," + escape(pdfText); var html = '<embed width=100% height=600' + ' type="application/pdf"' + ' src="' + url + '">' + '</embed>'; $("div.inner").html(""); $("div.inner").append(html); }, //my controller <?php namespace App\Http\Controllers; use Illuminate\Http\Request; use DB; class homeController extends Controller { public function index() { $employee = DB::table('employee')->orderBy('id','desc')->get(); $department = DB::table('department')->orderBy('id','desc')->get(); return view('index', ['employee' => $employee , 'department' => $department]); } } //my routes Route::get('index','homeController@index'); //my view using blade temmplating engine @foreach($employee as $emp) <div class="employee"> <b>{{ $emp->name }} </b> <a href="employee/{{ $emp->id }}"> <p class="intro">{{ substr($emp->intro ,0, 50) }}...</p> </a> </div> @endforeach @foreach($department as $dep) <div class="department"> <b>{{ $dep->name }} </b> <a href="department/{{ $dep->id }}"> <p class="desc">{{ substr($dep->description ,0, 100) }}...</p> </a> </div> @endforeach I want to fetch using ajax, how can i do it, teach/help me Hi guys, I think I may be losing my marbles over this form I've put together. I'm trying to get my code to post the following to a database but my MySQL and PHP isn't that good, so wondering if any one could possibly suggest what I could do? Here is my code: Code: [Select] <?php // we check if everything is filled in if(empty($_POST['fname']) || empty($_POST['lname']) || empty($_POST['email'])) { die(msg(0,"All the fields are required")); } // is the sex selected? if(!(int)$_POST['sex-select']) { die(msg(0,"You have to select your sex")); } // is the birthday selected? if(!(int)$_POST['day'] || !(int)$_POST['month'] || !(int)$_POST['year']) { die(msg(0,"You have to fill in your birthday")); } // is the email valid? if(!(preg_match("/^[\.A-z0-9_\-\+]+[@][A-z0-9_\-]+([.][A-z0-9_\-]+)+[A-z]{1,4}$/", $_POST['email']))) die(msg(0,"You haven't provided a valid email")); // I think here is where I need to put something to get the data into a table! echo msg(1,"registered.html"); function msg($status,$txt) { return '{"status":'.$status.',"txt":"'.$txt.'"}'; } ?> How do I get the $_POST['day'] and $_POST['month'], $_POST['year'] etc into a table? It should be so easy but my head is hurting from trying lots of things and tutorials online. Any thoughts my PHP Freaks? Hi I have a little strange problem. I cannot get the post data from my form. Basically what I have is a link table linking together source_id and subject_id. For each subject there are multiple sources associated with each. I had created a basic listing of sources by subject... no problem. I now need a way of having a form to create an ordered list in a user-specified way. In other words, I can currently order by id or alphabetically (subject name lives on a different table), but I need the option of choosing the order in which they display. I added another row to this table called order_by. No problem again, and I can manage all of this in the database, however I want to create a basic form where I can view sources by subject and then enter a number that I can use for sorting. I started off looping through each of the entries and the database (with a where), and creating a foreach like so (with the subject_id being grabbed via GET from the URL on a previous script) Code: [Select] while($row = mysqli_fetch_array($rs)) { //update row order if (isset($_POST['submit'])) { //get variables, and assign order $subject_id = $_GET['subject_id']; $order_by = $_POST['order_by']; $source_id = $row['source_id']; //echo 'Order by entered as ' . $order_by . '<br />'; foreach ($_POST['order_by'] as $order_by) { $qorder = "UPDATE source_subject set order_by = '$order_by' WHERE source_id = '$source_id' AND subject_id = '$subject_id'"; mysqli_query($dbc, $qorder) or die ('could not insert order'); // echo $subject_id . ', ' . $order_by . ', ' . $source_id; // echo '<br />'; } } else { $subject_id = $_GET['subject_id']; $order_by = $row['order_by']; $source_id = $row['source_id']; } And have the line in the form like so: Code: [Select] echo '<input type="text" id="order_by" name="order_by[]" size="1" value="'. $order_by .'"/> (yes I know I didn't escape the input field... it's all stored in an htaccess protected directory; I will clean it up later once I get it to work) This, of course, results in every source_id getting the same "order_by" no matter what I put into each field. I'm thinking that I need to do some sort of foreach where I go through foreach source_id and have it update the "order_by" field for each one, but I must admit I'm not sure how to go about this (the flaws of being self-taught I suppose; I don't have anyone to go to on this). I'm hoping someone here can help? Thanks a ton in advance here my sample code <form> <input id="query" type="text" name="query" placeholder="search here..." autocomplete="off"> <button type="submit" value="query" >search</button> <div class="sugbx"></div> </form> //php code, assume we already run a whole php code ...... <ul class="list-group list-unstyled" style="cursor:pointer; color: #191919; position:absolute; top:12px;"> <?php foreach($query as $movie) { ?> <li class="list-group-item" onClick="searchValue('<?php echo $movie["movie_name"]; ?>'),;"><?php echo $movie["movie_name"]; ?></li> <?php } ?> </ul> <?php } ?> //ajax here $('#search').keyup(function(){ $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url: 'phpcode.php', data:'query='+$(this).val(), success: function(data){ $('.sugbx').show(); $('.sugbx').html(data); } }); }); function searchValue(val) { $('#query').val(val); $('.sugbx').hide(); } //ajax the input accept the value only after selecting one of the listed value on the suggesstion box and then i have to click the submit button the problem is, how to submit the value accepted when a list is clicked Hello everyone, I begin in everything web related but I have been programming for years. I tried to code something simple : small Mysql DB (works fine) and to begin a search bar to browse data. I adapted a code that I understood provided here : https://www.cloudways.com/blog/live-search-php-mysql-ajax/. Base principle is simple : as you type in your query, it will pass the text to script.js that will forward this request to ajax.php file. In the ajax.php, a javascript function named “fill()” will pass the fetched results. This function will also display the result(s) into “display” div in the “search.php” file. The problem is that when I type anything it displays, below the search bar, at the moment I type a character: Quote
'; //Fetching result from database. while ($Result = MySQLi_fetch_array($ExecQuery)) { ?> ")'>
instead of the actual answer from my database (no error in the browser console). I tested the SQL query + the user I provide and everything seems fine. Any clue what could be the root cause ? I strongly suspect a mistake in the code as I already corrected one (script.js instead of scripts.js) but I really cannot figure out where. Thanks in advance,
problematic code (ajax.php):
<?php //Including Database configuration file. include "db.php"; //Getting value of "search" variable from "script.js". if (isset($_POST['search'])) { //Search box value assigning to $Name variable. $Name = $_POST['search']; //Search query. $Query = "SELECT Name FROM search WHERE Name LIKE '%$Name%' LIMIT 5"; //Query execution $ExecQuery = MySQLi_query($con, $Query); //Creating unordered list to display result. echo ' <ul> '; //Fetching result from database. while ($Result = MySQLi_fetch_array($ExecQuery)) { ?> <!-- Creating unordered list items. Calling javascript function named as "fill" found in "script.js" file. By passing fetched result as parameter. --> <li onclick='fill("<?php echo $Result['Name']; ?>")'> <a> <!-- Assigning searched result in "Search box" in "search.php" file. --> <?php echo $Result['Name']; ?> </li></a> <!-- Below php code is just for closing parenthesis. Don't be confused. --> <?php }} ?> </ul>
The Business Logic is: If product is already purchased, upgrade the product I have a customer input form to get information, along with some fields which should be auto populated based on what the customer chooses. Screen Shot:

https://paste.ofcode.org/hvG2sP9TW9CEPgMMuKXNuw $results = getShippingEstimate('14419','1',"IN","642001"); How can i get country and zipcode from the user entry and return the shipping cost?
Edited April 26, 2019 by aveeva I'm doing an ajax call from javascript using jquery library: Code: [Select] ajaxCall: function(process, obj, type){ $.post("registration-post.php", type + "=" + process, function(data){ if(data==""){ $(obj).css(registration.errorNotificationType, registration.validatedColour); }else{ $('.error').append($.trim(data) + "<br />"); $(obj).css(registration.errorNotificationType, registration.errorColour); registration.progress = false; } } ); } When the ajax calls the php page, I want the php page to know what post information the javascript has sent, rather than pre-defining what the PHP should be trying to retrive from the POST data. Something like // pseudo $_POST["whateverwassentfromajax"] I want to do this because I want to have one function doing everything. So in my javascript I am saying, check if the username and email have already been used... But i dont want to call two different php functions. //pseudo function 1(){ $_POST["username"]; } function 2(){ $_POST["email"]; } Is there a special way to know which post data has been sent. Or do i need to do a few if statements in php. Hello, I need to post plenty of data to a file with a java file with a .do extension using a php program. How do I get to auto-post mass data in php from a database straight to this java file? Put in mind that each mysql record is posted as its own form as in: <form ...>mysql record</form> Thanks in advance |
