PHP - What Would Be The Best Way To Add Filters On A Page?
For eg. I have a page with a query that retrives records from the database and I want to have options of filtering out the shown records by date, time, likes, views..etc; how would I go about doing that?
The way I am thinking is having a html form with those filter inputs and using a relative query based on the filter selection to retrive the results.
What you think?

Can someone advise me on the easiest way to do this? As I have created a method to do it with, (check website) but it has to be entered manually and I was hoping there is an easier way? Please Note I like to use drop down boxes for the filters but if there is a way to do the checkbox style you see on say Amazon then that would be brilliant... I use Dreamweaver CS5, and the newest versions of PHP and MySql Many Thanks, Paul Basically I have a property page where I want users to be able to click 'detached' and then only detached properties will appear, if the user click 'semi-detached' then only semi-detched properties will appear. but these properties that I want to appear are just images, then a link to the actually property page with all the details. You can view the page here to get a better understanding: http://www.mumtazproperties.hostei.com/forsale.html At the moment all of the properties appear on the page. (and when you select the filters it actually does what I want it too, but through HTML) But I want the information to come from a database and then use PHP code to execute it all. Help is hugely appreciated, thanks. I have a property website and I want users to be able to filter the properties, So when they access the page, and click 'detached properties' only detached properties will appear, if the user selects 'semi-detached' then only semi detached properties will appear. I already have a mySQL database set up. Image attached here to have a better understanding. Folks, I am just trying to learn PHP. For form input validation which is better - Regexp or PHP Filters? Or do they have completely different uses? Where does preg fit in? Thank you! J.S. Hello everyone, I have website that uses the php(mail) function to notify users when something happens on their account. The site was created for a school district so all the users are district employees where their incoming email is subject to pretty strict spam filtering. I am using headers to indicate to the recipient that the email is coming from support@mysite.com, but I guess the mail servers see past this and recognize that it's coming from a php(mail) function. Because of this, all of the emails being sent are being blocked by the filter. I've tried adding all emails coming from an address that ends with "@mysite.com" but this doesn't work. This is what the addresses look like that the spam filter is actually seeing: elmas156@p3nlhftpg049.shr.prod.phx3.secureserver.net And I can't just add a single address to the white list because each time an email is sent, the letters and numbers after "@" and before "secureserver.net" are different. Here's another address that shows up: elmas156@p3nlhg331.shr.prod.phx3.secureserver.net here is the code that I'm using to send the emails: Code: [Select] <?php $sendto = "$email"; $emailsubject = "Testing Message Report For $cdate."; $emailmessage = "This is a test email."; // To send HTML mail, the Content-type header must be set $headers = 'MIME-Version: 1.0' . "\r\n"; $headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1' . "\r\n"; // Additional headers $headers .= 'From: MySite.com Report <support@mysite.com>' . "\r\n"; // Mail it mail($sendto, $emailsubject, $emailmessage, $headers); ?> Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do to make every email sent to be recognized by the spam filter as coming from the same email instead of a bunch of random ones? I hope this is making sense to someone because it was very difficult for me to explain in writing. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. Hi all,
I have been reading in almost everywhere that we should not use our own custom login and password validations ( like regex etc.) but instead use the filter_var and filter_input built in functions provided by PHP 5 and above. However even after searching for more than an hour for with different search strings, I have not found even a single example that shows how we may validate for a username/login and password in a login form. Can someone be kind enough to provide a strong secure validations for username and login.
Additionally I would also like to clarify if the username and login fields in a Login form be manipulated in any manner to pose a security threat? I mean can a hacker craft a username/login or password in such a manner as to pose an injection or any other threat?
Thanks all.
I am having a lot of trouble with this code, and I have no clue how to fix it. Right now, I have a GUI for a fictitious car dealership that has 5 populated drop down menus called Make, Model, Year, Color, and Mileage. What I want the code to do is read the selections made by the user with the drop down menus once the user hits the submit button and then filter the tables that I have in a mysql database to meets the choice requirements of the user. The code will bring up the GUI, but once I hit the submit button, I get the following errors Please if anyone can help me that would be fantastic. I really have no clue hello and good day

what do you say-!? Quesion: Show each movie in the database on its own page, and give the user links in a "page 1, Page 2, Page 3" - type navigation system. This topic has been moved to HTML Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=323045.0 I have a page with results from a query that displays that has a link (works fine - passes variables etc) that deletes that line item from a database. It goes to the delete.php and actually executes and removes the item from the database and then has the line header("Location: page.php"); which returns BACK to the page displaying the results. However, it shows the old results until I hit Refresh in the browser. Its like the header is redirecting to a cached version of the page.
NOTE: This script used to work fine untouched when we where on a shared hosting account. We JUST updates to VPS hosting by the same host. Now this problem has risen and I can't figure out what is wrong. From what I can guess is there is something in php.ini that is either not set, set or set wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
I am using Magento (Ver 1.9.x) If i try with my localhost success url like, http://192.168.1.65/magento/index.php/checkout/onepage/success/ and return success message with order id. if i try with live, success url like, https://abc.in/payubiz/redirect/success/ success page like blank page. How to solve the issue? Code : https://github.com/ZusZus/Payubiz Edited February 4, 2020 by aveevaCan someoneplease help, I need to setup an error page like IF Username and Password are wrong then show an error also if there is no username or password in the fields and I just click LOGIN, I get a blank page?! Can someone please help me here or point me to a relevant tutorial? thanks here is my page: http://www.retroandvintage.co.uk/default.php here is my code: Code: [Select] <?php session_start(); include_once("config.php"); $ebits = ini_get('error_reporting'); error_reporting($ebits ^ E_NOTICE); /* Login script: This script does the following: Checks that the user is NOT already logged in - if they are they are redirected to the members page by the 'checkLoggedIn()' function. Checks if the login form has been submitted - if so, the 'login' and 'password' fields are checked to ensure they are of the correct format and length. If there are any problems here an error is added to the $messages array and then the script executes the 'doIndex()' function - this function basically outputs the main 'index' page for this script - ie the login form. If there are no problems with the previous step, the 'login' and 'password' field data is passed to the 'checkPass' function to check that an entry exists in the 'users' table for that login/password pair. If nothing is returned from the 'checkPass()' function, an error is added to the $messages array and the 'doIndex()' function is called as above. If a row of data is returned from the 'users' table, the data is passed to the 'cleanMemberSession()' function - which initializes session variables and logs the user in. The user is then forwarded to the members page. If the form hasn't yet been submitted, then the 'doIndex()' function is called and the login page is displayed. */ // Check user not logged in already: checkLoggedIn("no"); // Page title: $title="Member Login Page"; // if $submit variable set, login info submitted: if(isset($_POST["submit"])) { // // Check fields were filled in // // login must be between 4 and 15 chars containing alphanumeric chars only: field_validator("rsUser", $_POST["rsUser"], "alphanumeric", 4, 15); // password must be between 4 and 15 chars - any characters can be used: field_validator("rsPass", $_POST["rsPass"], "string", 4, 15); // if there are $messages, errors were found in validating form data // show the index page (where the messages will be displayed): if($messages){ doIndex(); // note we have to explicity 'exit' from the script, otherwise // the lines below will be processed: exit; } // OK if we got this far the form field data was of the right format; // now check the user/pass pair match those stored in the db: /* If checkPass() is successful (ie the login and password are ok), then $row contains an array of data containing the login name and password of the user. If checkPass() is unsuccessful however, $row will simply contain the value 'false' - and so in that case an error message is stored in the $messages array which will be displayed to the user. */ if( !($row = checkPass($_POST["rsUser"], $_POST["rsPass"])) ) { // login/passwd string not correct, create an error message: $messages[]="Incorrect login/password, try again"; } /* If there are error $messages, errors were found in validating form data above. I took the example from he http://www.howtodothings.com/computers-internet/how-to-make-a-login-system-for-your-website Basically it consists of adding: <? require("log.php"); ?> to the top of any page I want to protect, a log.php file which performs the actions of the form, linking to a mySQL database, and a login.php file which contains the form. I have the login working fine, but it breaks one of the PHP scripts on the page that is protected. It is an upload script, called Weaverbox, based on FancyUpload. The uploads which are handled by a file called upload.php, aren't happening. The progress shows that they are being uploaded, but nothing is uploaded, and there is no success message. As soon as I remove the code from the top of the page requiring log.php all works fine again. I think I may have to add some rules/extensions to resolve this conflict, but I don't know how to go about this. Would someone be able to help me get it sorted? Thanks Nick Hi, Is it possible to build a PHP Template page that selects and publishes a row of data from a MySQL Database when a linked is clicked? I would design: Template.php Text links (perhaps on homepage of navigation bar): ProductA, ProductB and ProductC If you click link ProductA Template.php would display data for ProductA and likewise for ProductB and ProductC. I would also like search engines for find ProductA, ProductB and ProductC PHP pages. (Not just my single Template.php) Any ideas as to how this could be done without designing individual PHP pages for each product? Kind regards, Matthew. Hi, I have a, let's call it, Main page, and it refreshes every 5 seconds to check the database... If it finds a result, it kills the refresh function and allows a DIV to call a page into itself via another function on the Main page, which refreshes every second, it's a timer count down clock... The problem is, that if the timer runs down to zero, I have it do a lot of things, but then I need it to either refresh the Main page, redirect the Main page, or close the Main page entirely... Does anyone know how I could perform either 3 of those actions from within the page that's inside of the DIV? About a year ago I wrote a mod_rewrite in at sites htaccess file. It was to call a page that queried the database based on a unite code that was assigned to a member. If the member was assigned a code that was FL1001, the URL www.marketingteammates.com/FL1001 would bring up a page that quaried that member and displayed their database content.
In the users table of the site, it quaried the field webPageID and the information was called. It called a page webpage.php that quaried the info. The URL in the address bar still displayed www.marketingteammates.com/FL1001. Here are the lines of code in the htaccess file.
RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^([A-Za-z])([A-Za-z])([0-9]+)$ /webpage.php?webPageID=$1$2$3 [NC,L]I now have a second page completely different from the webpage.php. It is a page storeNumber.php and would query a field storeNumberID. This field could contain any kind of string such as Store#101, or mystore101, or #101 is my store. I tried using the same rewite rule just replaceing the webpage.php and variable with storeNumber.php and $storeNumberID. This doesn't work. It also leads me to wonder if there can even be two different pages in the mod_rewrite. How would it diferentiate one from the other. Thanks for any help in advance. Mike |
