Hi, I have a CMS, I am creating a forgotten password page, the page will require a user to enter an email address and the code will find it in the database and send them an email, in my database, i have multiple users accounts assigned to one email address. I want it so that if the user enters an email address and it was more than one accuont assigned to it, to error a message saying please contact your admin, but atm, it is not doing this. Any suggestions?
Similar TutorialsI am attempting to install PEAR however am very confused and I believe I have stuffed up something from which it will be very complicated to come back from. Firstly, for some reason I have the C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3.0\go-pear.bat installation file, but I also have the C:\PHP\go-pear.bat installation file. Which one do I choose? And is the C:\PHP direcotry left over from an old installation. I have no idea. Further to that, I ran the go-pear.bat installation from the C:\PHP directory, I have a feeling this was the wrong decision. After installing everything it stated that it had updated my php.ini file, however this file was in the wrong directory and so I took the updated lines from the php.ini which put in a a new include_path and pasted them into the php.ini file in the C:\wamp... directory. Now when I go to the command prompt and type in pear here is the message I get: PHP_PEAR_PHP_BIN is not set correctly. Please fix it using your environment variable or modify the default value in pear.bat The current value is: .\php.exe I have followed a remedy to this which is included he http://www.pear-forum.org/topic2413.html However still to no avail. I am further confused why I have a C:\PHP folder and why it is seperate from my WAMP folder. Further to that, when I try to install PEAR from my WAMP folder and click on C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3.0\go-pear.bat I get the following error message: phar "C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3.0\PEAR\go-pear.phar" does not have a signaturePHP warning require_once(phar://go-pear.phar/index.php>: failed to open stream: phar error: invalid url or non-existent phar "phar://go-pear.phar/index.php" in C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3.0\PEAR\go-pear.phar n line 1236 (and another message that looks very similar) ----- Note: the installation instructions I am following are located here > http://trac.symfony-project.org/wiki/HowToInstallPearOnWindowsWithWamp ------ So basically I am stuck. Why is it so difficult to install PEAR and how do I simply get it working? Hello, I have this code to retreive forgotten pass: Code: [Select] //here is my db connection// $result = mysql_query("SELECT email FROM db WHERE email='$email'"); if(!$result){ } else if($email!= mysql_result($result, 0)){ include 'recover.php'; echo "bla bla"; exit(); } $sql= mysql_query("SELECT pass FROM db WHERE email='$email'"); $result=mysql_query($sql); // if found e-mail address, row must be 1 row // keep value $count=mysql_num_rows($result); if($count==1){ $rows=mysql_fetch_array($result); // keep password $pass=$rows['pass']; exit(); } //here I have the Send Email code including: $pass I get no errors, but inside the email I only get the $email and not the $pass. Any help? Thank you I paid someone to develop my site and for some reason the Forgot Password page is not working. Once the user types in their email address and submits, nothing happens. The user should get a message displayed instantly letting them know if the password was sent or if their account was not found. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Now i can't seem to correctly create a login page to pass the hashed password using (sha1). Now all i want to do is verify the username and the (hashed) password according to the database and allow the user in. The script i am using to check login works fine without a hashed password in the database. But ideally i'd like to use a hashed form of password. Can somebody show me what change i need to make in this script below in order to pass a sha1 hashed password? I'm guessing it's a really small change from the examples i've seen online, but i just cant seem to get mine to work. :| Your help would be much appreciated. Login Page PHP: Code: [Select] <form name="login" method="post" action="check_login.php3"> <p><strong>Secured Area User Log-in</strong></p> <p>Username: <input name="bioname" type="text" id="bioname"></p> <p>Password: <input name="biopass" type="password" id="biopass"></p> <p> </p> <p><input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Login"></p> </form> Check Login Processor (which is the file i that needs the sha1 added somewhere i think) Code: [Select] <?php require_once('config.php3'); // Connect to the server and select the database. mysql_connect("$host", "$username", "$password")or die("cannot connect"); mysql_select_db("$db")or die("Unable to select database"); // $loginusername = false; $loginpassword = false; $err = false; // default error message is empty // The username and password sent from login.php //the isset() basically means if its there get it, otherwise dont bother if (isset($_POST['bioname'])) $loginusername=$_POST['bioname']; if (isset($_POST['biopass']))$loginpassword=$_POST['biopass']; // if either isnt filled in, tell the user, a very basic bit of validation if (!$loginusername || !$loginpassword) $err = "please complete the form"; if (!$err) //if no error continue { //The following bit of coding protects from MySQL injection attacks $loginusername = stripslashes($loginusername); $loginpassword = stripslashes($loginpassword); $loginusername = mysql_real_escape_string($loginusername); $loginpassword = mysql_real_escape_string($loginpassword); //you could add other things like check for text only blah blah $sql="SELECT * FROM $tbl WHERE bioname='$loginusername' and biopass='$loginpassword'"; $result=mysql_query($sql); // Count how many results were pulled from the table $count=mysql_num_rows($result); // If the result equals 1, continue if($count==1) { session_start(); $_SESSION['user'] = $loginusername; // store session data //please see I have used a session variable that is generic not specific, otherwise you will have to make this page different for every user //that would be a pain in the ass, you don't need to have user1 or user2, its the value stored that relevant, not what the variable name is header("Location: {$loginusername}/index.php3"); } else { $err = "Wrong Username or Password"; } }// end login if statement if ($err) // show error message if there is one { echo $err; echo "<br>Please go back in your browser and try again"; } ?> The secure page: Code: [Select] <?php session_start(); $mypath = $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]; //echo $mypath; // for debugging //now we have the path lets see if the username is in that path, i.e. test2 is inside /something/test2/index.php //use the built in strpos() function, which returns position of the last occurance of the string you are looking for inside another string. //http://php.net/manual/en/function.strrpos.php if(strpos($mypath,"/".$_SESSION['user']."/"))//on testing it failed initially as username test is found in path /test2/ so i added the slashes to stop that. so /test/ doesnt get found in /test2/ { echo "congratulations you are the right person in the right place"; } else { session_destroy(); //kill the session, naughty person trying to come here header("Location: ../login.php3"); die();// stop page executing any further } ?> <html> <body> </body> </html> Thanks and i look forward to your replies. Here is my code if(isset($_POST['pass_btn'])) { $numchars = 8; $chars = explode(',','2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j,k,m,n,p,q,r,s,t,u,v,w,x,y,z,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,J,K,L,M,N,P,Q,R,S,T,U,V,W,X,Y,Z,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9'); $password=''; for($i=0; $i<$numchars;$i++) { $password.=$chars[rand(0,count($chars)-1)]; } } This is set up so when a person pressing the pass_btn, a password is provided. This works just fine. However, it refreshes the page and clears all other data that user may have entered. Suggestions? Hi! I have read like crazy to find a tutorial on a login page without My_SQL. Anyway I am working on a easy login/logged out page with sessions. Here is the login page with tree users in an array.
The things that I need some hints to solve is, when clicking on login the error message don't show. Instead the script goes to the logged in page right away. And when you write the wrong password you get loged in anyway.
I am not sure how or if it's possible to write a varible to a file this way. But I tried and recived a parse error with the txt varible.
When searching for topics I get more confused with the My_SQL varibles. I am near a breaking point at cracking the first step on PHP, but need some advice.

When a user tries to logged into the site by entering wrong password, the error message like " Invalid username or password" should be displayed in the same page. I tried following coding. But it shows the error message in a different page. $connect=mysql_connect('localhost','root',''); mysql_select_db('bank',$connect); $username= $_POST['username']; $password= $_POST['password']; $result = mysql_query ('select * from users where username = "' . $_POST['username'] . '" and password = "' . $_POST['password'] . '"'); while($row=mysql_fetch_row($result)){ $user_type=$row[4]; } session_start(); session_register("user_type"); $_SESSION["user_type"]=$user_type; if($user_type=='T'){ header('Location:teller_page.php'); }else if($user_type=='AO'){ header('Location:accofficer_page.php'); }else if($user_type=='AS'){ header('Location:accsup_page.php'); }else if($user_type=='LS'){ header('Location:loansup_page.php'); }else if($user_type=='CS'){ header('Location:cashsup_page.php'); }else{ header('Location:try_again.php'); } Quesion: Show each movie in the database on its own page, and give the user links in a "page 1, Page 2, Page 3" - type navigation system. Hint: Use LIMIT to control which movie is on which page. I have provided 3 files: 1st: configure DB, 2nd: insert data, 3rd: my code for the question. I would appreciate the help. I am a noob by the way. First set up everything for DB: <?php //connect to MySQL $db = mysql_connect('localhost', 'root', '000') or die ('Unable to connect. The passwords in the database are md5 encrypted. Is there a way to reverse this md5 password and send the forgotten password in its orginal for to the user through email? Thanks. <?PHP include("cxn.php"); $sql = "SELECT password FROM Members WHERE email='$_POST[email]'"; $result = mysqli_query($cxn,$sql) or die ("Couldn't execute query"); $num = mysqli_num_rows($result); if ($num >0) // Email Address Found { $password = md5($_POST['password']); // Trying to take the md5 off the password here. $to = "$_POST[email]"; $subj = "Password for website.co.uk"; $mess = "Your password for www.website.co.uk is: \n $_POST['password'] \n Please login with your email address and this password. Thank you."; $mailsend = mail($to,$subj,$mess,$headers); $update= "An email containing your password has been sent to". $_POST['email']."."; include("signin-redirect.php"); } else // Email Address Not Found { $registrationerror = "The email address '$_POST[email]' is already registered!"; include("signin-redirect.php"); } ?> I am having some trouble getting this to pull the password correctly from the database. I believe the problem is from the password being in md5 format. I am not sure how to fix the issue. Much thanks Code: [Select] <?php //signin.php include 'connect.php'; include 'header.php'; echo '<h3>Sign in</h3><br />'; //first, check if the user is already signed in. If that is the case, there is no need to display this page if(isset($_SESSION['signed_in']) && $_SESSION['signed_in'] == true) { echo 'You are already signed in, you can <a href="signout.php">sign out</a> if you want.'; } else { if($_SERVER['REQUEST_METHOD'] != 'POST') { /*the form hasn't been posted yet, display it note that the action="" will cause the form to post to the same page it is on */ echo '<form method="post" action=""> Username: <input type="text" name="username" /><br /> Password: <input type="password" name="password"><br /> <input type="submit" value="Sign in" /> </form>'; } else { /* so, the form has been posted, we'll process the data in three steps: 1. Check the data 2. Let the user refill the wrong fields (if necessary) 3. Varify if the data is correct and return the correct response */ $errors = array(); /* declare the array for later use */ if(!isset($_POST['username'])) { $errors[] = 'The username field must not be empty.'; } if(!isset($_POST['password'])) { $errors[] = 'The password field must not be empty.'; } if(!empty($errors)) /*check for an empty array, if there are errors, they're in this array (note the ! operator)*/ { echo 'Uh-oh.. a couple of fields are not filled in correctly..<br /><br />'; echo '<ul>'; foreach($errors as $key => $value) /* walk through the array so all the errors get displayed */ { echo '<li>' . $value . '</li>'; /* this generates a nice error list */ } echo '</ul>'; } else { //the form has been posted without errors, so save it //notice the use of mysql_real_escape_string, keep everything safe! //also notice the sha1 function which hashes the password $sql = "SELECT userid, username, userlevel FROM users WHERE username = '" . mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['username']) . "' AND password = '" . sha1($_POST['password']) . "'"; $result = mysql_query($sql); if(!$result) { //something went wrong, display the error echo 'Something went wrong while signing in. Please try again later.'; //echo mysql_error(); //debugging purposes, uncomment when needed } else { //the query was successfully executed, there are 2 possibilities //1. the query returned data, the user can be signed in //2. the query returned an empty result set, the credentials were wrong if(mysql_num_rows($result) == 0) { echo 'You have supplied a wrong user/password combination. Please try again.'; } else { //set the $_SESSION['signed_in'] variable to TRUE $_SESSION['signed_in'] = true; //we also put the user_id and user_name values in the $_SESSION, so we can use it at various pages while($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result)) { $_SESSION['userid'] = $row['userid']; $_SESSION['username'] = $row['username']; $_SESSION['userlevel'] = $row['userlevel']; } echo 'Welcome, ' . $_SESSION['username'] . I've got a table 'users' I've tried to find a straight forward answer but am confused by 'salting' etc. Thanks Hello everyone! I'm Abraham and I'm new here. I'm looking for a little help on making a password generator that can make passwords like this s7D9f3 - y2W4j6 - x1N5q8. I made one before but I lost the script can't seem to find it or remember how I did. hello.
im trying to password protect my pages in a simple way like this:
http://www.scottconn...ord_protection/
but for some reason it doesnt chek the login file, so it doesnt work:
<?php require_once 'login.php'; ?> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> <style type="text/css"> #form1 table tr td label { } #form1 table { text-align: left; } #wrapper { margin: 20px auto; text-align: center; font-size: 20px; } #wrapper2 { margin: 20px auto; text-align: center; font-size: 20px; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="wrapper"> --<a href="tilfojer.html">Tilføj Aktivitet</a>--<br> --<a href="tilfojtilvalg.html">Tilføj Tilvalg</a>--<br> --<a href="tilfojrestaurant.html">Tilføj Restaurant</a>--<br> --<a href="tilfojmenu.html">Tilføj Menu</a>-- </div> <div id="wrapper2"> --<a href="seaktivitet.php">Se Aktiviteter</a>--<br> --<a href="setilvalg.php">Se Tilvalg</a>--<br> --<a href="serestaurant.php">Se Restauranter</a>--<br> --<a href="semenu.php">Se Menuer</a>-- </div> </body> <a href="?logout=1">Logout</a> </html>that is how i implemented it. made the file an php file can somone tell me why it doesnt work. and maybe how to make it work, and why that works many thanks The password ARE correct. My code keeps saying that the password is INCORRECT. The password is MD5'ed once a user registers, and when they type in a password at the login (as shown), the password is also MD5'ed. Why is it that it's output is incorrect password? <?php session_start(); include("includes/mysql.php"); include("includes/config.php"); ?> <title><?php echo $title; ?></title> <?php if(!$_SESSION['user']) { $username = $_POST['username']; $password = $_POST['password']; $username = mysql_real_escape_string($username); $password = mysql_real_escape_string($password); if(!$password || !$username) { echo ' <h1>Login</h1> <center><p><form action="login.php" method="POST"> <table border="0"> <tr><th>Username:</th> <td><input type="text" name="username" maxlength="20"><br/></td></tr> <tr><th>Password:</th> <td><input type="password" name="password" maxlength="30"><br/></td></tr> <tr><th></th><td><input type="submit" value="Login"></td></tr> </table></form></p></center> </div> '; } else { $query = mysql_query("SELECT COUNT(username),password,username FROM users WHERE username='$username'"); $check = mysql_fetch_assoc($query); $db_username = $check['username']; $password = md5($password); if($check['COUNT(username)'] < 1) { echo ' <p>No account exists with this username. Please go back.</p> '; } elseif($check['password']==$password && $db_username==$username) { echo ' <h1>Login Successful</h1> <p>You have successfully logged in! Return home.</p> '; $_SESSION['user']=$username; } else { echo ' <p>The password you have enetered in is incorrect. Please go back.</p> '; } } } else { echo ' <p>Your already logged in!</p> '; } ?> Okay, so I am trying to create a login page My problem is that after I register and I want to login it says I have an incorrect password I encrypted the password with the md5 function and when I echoed the password in the db I get e882b72bccfc2ad578c27b0d9b472a14 and when I echoed the password I tried to login with I get e882b72bccfc2ad5 The password seems to be correct, just cut in half... Now why is the password I logged in with half the size it should be? I have been out of the game for a while and i need a bit of guidance on this.
