PHP - Media Query Not Responding On Desktop

Hi,   I have a booking form that displays fine on a desktop and other mobile devices, except on an iPhone 5. Does anyone know what could cause this? I know javascript is working on the iPhone, but not sure why the form isnt displaying.   Thanks

Hello folks, 

So, not sure where to start, but I'm wondering if it's at all possible to change a prepared statement / sql based on whether or not we're displaying for desktops, or for smartphone/tablets? I'm not sure what to start looking at since I'm pretty new in PHP and all... 

I've managed to figure out how to change CSS if I'm on phone 

@media only screen and (max-width: 767.98px){

Any directions on how I would change my SQL, would be awesome! I'd like to narrow down the columns returned if I'm on phone, otherwise breaks my pages looks too much...

Hi

I'm building a site that contains access to some mp3 files of people speaking English.

I would like a media player that is able to handle a variable that results from a database search.

I can use  <a href etc> to link to the relevant file but would like to use a server-side player to stream the file, rather than the client's browser.

Something like Dewplayer would be perfect but it seems only to take a static file (maybe I'm wrong there).

The player appears within <object> tags, like this

(the code is freely downloadable so hope I'm not breaking any rules posting someone else's code here).

Is there a way I can specify a variable in value? If not, does anyone know of a player that I can use that does allow that?

I want to create a media library in the CMS, similar to how it is in WordPress but custom-coded in PHP on my own site.

Can this be done simply with a database connection or will the images need to be uploaded to a server?

Bit confused as to how it works and which is the best way to go about it.

I have Wordpress based site where i've included a class for the main menu that produces a hover and shadow effect. Problem is it breaks the menu in the fully responsive mode when the display adjusts for the viewing dimensions. So I need to remove that class from the menu for anything related to the @media controls.    The site is viewable he http://ailimconsulting.com   If you view it full screen then you'll see the hover effect. Shrink it down and you'll see the menu collapses (it's designed to) but when you use the menu the shadow/hover effect is still present  and 'breaks' the menu (loooks like jumbled crap). We just want to remove the hover effect for viewing on mobile devices.   I'm not sure if there's a CSS way to 'remove' a class. This may have to be done with jQuery. I'm looking for options and if anyone knows how I would either remove or counteract the float-shadow class.    Thanks.

Hi guys. My situation is the following... I want to be able to play videos on a website using a media player. I currently have the pathnames of the videos stored in a mysql database and the videos stored on my file system. I intend to use some PHP script in order to locate the video pathname in the database and then pass it to the media player where it will play the file.

I was wondering how i go about this? as i am fairly new to PHP.

I'm learning to develop social media buttons, and I'm trying to figure out, how to find out the correct submit links to the social media sites?

For example:

Digg has their submit link like this:

Digg also requires to use urlencode for the variables inside the URL.


But delicious has their submit link like this:

When I go on delicious.com (under this URL: http://www.delicious.com/help/api#posts_add)  I will find the link:

Which is stated on the API page, but that link won't work. I rather have to use the link I showed earlier.

So my question is, what is the proper way in figuring the correct submit links for each website and how to format them properly to their requirements, I can not find any information on the websites?

We are building a site for users to post articles on certain topics and we want to show their number of followers on various social media platforms.

Apart from them having the means to add it manually, there must be a method of syncing with their account, that they punch in, so that it dynamically updates our database with their number of followers.

Hello everybody,   I am honestly quite a newb when it comes to mod_rewrite.   We run a small social media page with different areas and I would like to change the URLs to something more clean and professional.   User profiles look like this:

siteid 59 is the artists list and the keyid at the end is the ID of the artist but should be like:

http://www.sky-mp3.com/mischura 

or in worse case like:

http://www.sky-mp3.com/user/mischura 

CMS pages look like this:

http://www.sky-mp3.com/index.php?siteid=106

but should be like:

http://www.sky-mp3.com/charts

(page name instead of siteid)   What I know so far: - I have to add something to the .htaccess file - I need to change something in the code (but I don`t know where)   Im good he?   What would be the first step on the path to clean URLs for me? Hello all,   Based on the suggestion of you wonderful folks here, I went away for a few days (to learn about PDO and Prepared Statements) in order to replace the MySQLi commands in my code. That's gone pretty well thus far...with me having learnt and successfully replaced most of my "bad" code with elegant, SQL-Injection-proof code (or so I hope).   The one-and-only problem I'm having (for now at least) is that I'm having trouble understanding how to execute an UPDATE query within the resultset of a SELECT query (using PDO and prepared statements, of course).   Let me explain (my scenario), and since a picture speaks a thousand words I've also inlcuded a screenshot to show you guys my setup:   In my table I have two columns (which are essentially flags i.e. Y/N), one for "items alreay purchased" and the other for "items to be purchased later". The first flag, if/when set ON (Y) will highlight row(s) in red...and the second flag will highlight row(s) in blue (when set ON).   I initially had four buttons, two each for setting the flags/columns to "Y", and another two to reverse the columns/flags to "N". That was when I had my delete functionality as a separate operation on a separate tab/list item, and that was fine.   Now that I've realized I can include both operations (update and delete) on just the one tab, I've also figured it would be better to pare down those four buttons (into just two), and set them up as a toggle feature i.e. if the value is currently "Y" then the button will set it to "N", and vice versa.   So, looking at my attached picture, if a person selects (using the checkboxes) the first four rows and clicks the first button (labeled "Toggle selected items as Purchased/Not Purchased") then the following must happen:   1. The purchased_flag for rows # 2 and 4 must be switched OFF (set to N)...so they will no longer be highlighted in red. 2. The purchased_flag for row # 3 must be switched ON (set to Y)...so that row will now be highlighted in red. 3. Nothing must be done to rows # 1 and 5 since: a) row 5 was not selected/checked to begin with, and b) row # 1 has its purchase_later_flag set ON (to Y), so it must be skipped over.   Looking at my code below, I'm guessing (and here's where I need the help) that there's something wrong in the code within the section that says "/*** loop through the results/collection of checked items ***/". I've probably made it more complex than it should be, and that's due to the fact that I have no idea what I'm doing (or rather, how I should be doing it), and this has driven me insane for the last 2 days...which prompted me to "throw in the towel" and seek the help of you very helpful and intellegent folks. BTW, I am a newbie at this, so if I could be provided the exact code, that would be most wonderful, and much highly appreciated.   Thanks to you folks, I'm feeling real good (with a great sense of achievement) after having come here and got the great advice to learn PDO and prepared statements.   Just this one nasty little hurdle is stopping me from getting to "end-of-job" on my very first WebApp. BTW, sorry about the long post...this is the best/only way I could clearly explaing my situation.   Cheers guys!
