PHP - Failed Transaction Upsets The Auto Increment Values

Is there a way to copy an auto-increment value (`id`) into another field in the same table (`org_id`)?

So, when someone creates a new organization, it will copy the new auto-increment value into the org_id field. Is this possible?

is there a way to save a field in a session or variable while its being inserted into the data base?
with out having to select it using another query

the problem im having is Im creating two rows right after each other where each row is in differant tables and I need them to match ids and I have nothing to compare it to.

only option i can think of is making a fast toggle switch or telling my select to grab in order which would work.

hey guys i have this invoice im working on but my clients  want's the invoice id start at a specific  number?   do it put that number in phpmyadmin direct on the line null?or can i do it another way?

I've been trying to grab the unique auto incrementing table id and put into a session variable.

I've echoed out the result of $_SESSION['name_id'] and it says '0'.

I've tried changing the key line to

$_SESSION['name_id'] = LAST_INSERT_ID();


but I get this error message: Fatal error: Call to undefined function LAST_INSERT_ID() in C:\x\xa

Is my goal acheivavle or should I just set up a select query after the insert query and extract the id key?

hi, i’m currently facing a new problem (i managed to use array_unique function successfully but i face this problem)with my php loop. i couldn’t seem to increment in my foreach loop to get the value of an array.

I'm just learning about PHP and I'm diving in head first by attempting to modify our web site's contact form.  I'm wishing to stop the form from erasing previously entered values upon "failed" data validation.  It's of course going to be annoying to our visitors if their hardworked entries disappear just because they left out a name or entered an illegal email address.  I regret that some potential solutions found on this forum and other locations on Google didn't seem to help on my page.

As you can see, the validation is done with PHP's version of if-elseif-else.  Later I'll be adding a reCAPTCHA and I hope that whatever I learn here might be useful for the potentially same problem when I am adding the CAPTCHA.

Hey! I am trying to get a database table of users but am running into the error:

I am trying to figure how to code around this. I have a DOM scraper function that pulls urls from my database, opens the page, scrapes the data, and then moves onto the next URL to scrape. my issue is that if the page fails to load the script bombs and I have to restart it again. Trying to figure out how if the Code: [Select]

Hello, I am a newbie PHP hobbyist. I mess with php strictly for my own amusement. Up until now I have been able to Google my way to a answer to my questions but I'm lost on this one. I'm not really sure what to even search for.

I have a few different mysql queries that returns the following arrays.

What I would like to do is replace or create a new array for each result with the lowest value as 1 the next lowest as 2 then 3 and 4.
My new array would look something like this
  oldqid15=37,37,37,37,37,37,38,38,39,39,41
newqid15=1,1,1,1,1,1,2,2,3,3,4

I sure would appreciate any ideas on this. I'm thinking there is probably a simple solution and before I waste anymore time I'll stop and ask for directions(as my wife would suggest).

I am looking to see if I could use one of the paypal features to pay two diffierent account from a single transaction and does paypal does that automatically?..

I was checking the immediate payment for a third party from the express checkout but I don't know that much about it.

Ok, so I am kind of just looking for some experience on this one. I am building a billing / referral system that works on a hierarchy. Now the hierarchy is simple and straight forward. However, I am trying to figure out the easiest / least error prone way of handling the payments.

I have an IPN with paypal set up and working successfully. Here is how the system works:

User signs up and refers several users. Each user pays $8 a month (paypal subscription). The system pays $1 7 levels deep. So The payment scheme would look like this:
User 8 pays $1 to User 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and user 1. Then, the site keeps the remaining $1.

I have the Paypal IPN saving the $8 payment transaction to the database. Now I need to divy it up, but I am split on when the best time to do this would be and how. There is a possibility that the user could pay a different amount less than or more than the $8 and they also pay a setup fee which should not be divided. It should only divide the shares when the current account is paid in full.

Another thing to keep in mind, is that the $8 subscription, 7 levels deep, and the setup fee are variable numbers. (The admin may change it at any time.)

I see multiple solutions, but not sure which would be best as all have possibility for errors in handling.

Any advice would be helpful.

Customers can view transaction history for
approved and declined  transactions (the reason for the decline should be included).
Transactions are logged with their transaction reference numbers and status.
