PHP - Count Number Of Times A Value Occures In Array

Hi Guys just need some advice really

I would like to know if there is a way I can check if a number is in a times table

for example

if(3 is in 4 times table){ do bla bla }
the result for above will be false as 4 times table does not contain 3

if(12 is in 4 times table){ do bla bla }
the above would be true

I want to run this loop until it has created 50 or a 100 links, max. At present it continues running even though no inputs are being added to the database. I suspect, it keeps looping through and collecting duplicates and then not adding them to the database. I see this as two options, I either limit the number of loops or must find someway for the pages that have already been crawled to be skipped. I am busy doing a php course and the lecturer is not answering questions about how the code could be improved. I figure that if you are going to do something in a training course it should be able to do what it needs to and if it doesn't it needs a little alteration. 

Right now this keeps looping till a 503 error happens, and then I am not sure if it is not still running server side.  In effect it does what I want it to do and all the changes I made have solved a few issues. 

How do I get it to stop before it crashes? I am thinking limiting the instances of createLink is the solution, but I am at sea here.

How do you make php code repeat for a certain amount of times. I am only new to php and I am trying to make the code below repeat 6 times instead of repeating all the matching elements in the database. From my other coding experience I would use a for loop but as I am new to php I am not really sure how to implement the for and while loops together. I was trying to add an integer that incremented until it hit 6 and then would exit the while loop but I couldn't get it to work. This is probably a simple problem and any help would be appricated. E.g. 18:00 - 22:30

this would return 4.5 (hours)

Right, using a mysql query the value from $event['event_Date'] prints out in a div. I need a number count of the amount of times this value is printed. any help?

I'm new! I am trying to populate a list of locations based on ratings. I can populate the list just fine but it's displaying every record in the table. Is there a way of only looping 4 times so as to just display the top 4 records?

I need help with a count query and displaying it.  Right now have the following query

$query = "SELECT COUNT(*) as num1 FROM spoiler WHERE id='$id";
$total_trophies = mysql_fetch_array(mysql_query($query));
$total_trophies = $total_trophies[num1];

So I have another query that pulls how many trophies there are.  That way I can do the following

But the problem is sometimes in my database I could have mulitple entrys per trophy.  For Trophy 1 I might have only one record so It counts it correctly for trophy 2 I could have 3 records so It counts each one of those records when I only one to count it once for that trophy

I got to thinking late last night (which generally leads to trouble), so please be gentle if some educating is in order, as I suppose I will touch a few related issues.

As I develop my database, I will include two seperate columns.  One for the time/date that an order was placed.
A second for the time/date that an order is updated (unless there's a better way, please inform me).

I pressume that if a record is updated several times, it will continually overwrite the time/date to the point that I will only see the latest update.  Now I was wondering if I could create a third column to keep count of the number of times a record had been updated, so if it were altered 16 times, I would know when the last update occurred, and have the count number also.

Will something like this coding work?

Hi. I have the following code where I grab the names and average overall rating from my database and group by the name.

Does anybody know how I can count the number of names that have been grouped together?

For instance:

Name     Overal ratingl
John       2
Pete       5
John       8

It should group the john's, calculate the average rating (8+2)/2=5, and then show that there have been 2 johns making up the 5 rating?

I am trying to use the Mysql COUNT function to count the number of records in a database where the manufacturer is the same and then generate a list of all manufacturers along with a number of associated records next to their name.

I have got the script below to show the manufacturer in a fetch array but I can not get the number next to the manufacturer to work.

Workers days at work = 6
it should be 5 but thats why i need some solution to group dates and then sum them.

Does anybody have any ideas?
