PHP - How To Create A Local Copy Of A Live Wordpress-site: To Avoid Blank Page
hello - dear phpfreaks,
i portet over a wordpress site to localhost. (an opensuse linux-box)
all went nice and was very smooth to do so. after porting over the files and the db; i added the db-name and user-name etc. but nothing more. then i looked at the site http://localhost/mysite i saw the site - but only once - that is very very interesting. i read that i have to do more. Probably these changes - mentioned below are mandantory in order to avoid a blank page cf: https://managewp.com...#comment-148613 The two fields you need to edit are “siteurl” (highlighted above) and “home” (which you may need to navigate to the second page to find). Just click the “Edit” buttons next to each field, and replace the URL contained in “option_value” with “http://localhost/yourfoldername/”. That’s it! If you now navigate to “http://localhost/yourfoldername/”, your site should load up in all its glory. Please note that if you use custom permalinks, you will need to change them to default (in the WordPress > Settings > Permalinks screen) in order for internal links on your site to work. You can of course change the permalinks back to their custom form at any time. question: is this true? Do i need to make these changes to avoid a blank page!? Similar TutorialsIn one of my pages I have a section which contains a hidden line of text. When the user clicks a button the box containing the text will expand showing the line more clearly. I want this to happen live i.e. no page refresh/reload. I've seen such things done on other sites but my question is, is this done using a php function or is JavaScript required to achieve this? I assume that in order for any php functions to take place there must be a page refresh to reload the data/parameters/variables that are required? The site I'm referring to is this one:- http://www.vouchercodes.co.uk/featured-voucher-codes.html If you click on the "Get code and open site" buttons there for any of the vouchers the area expands live and the voucher is revealed however as I say there is no page refresh and it is done live. Is this effect done in JavaScript and not php or is there some way of using php alone to do something similar? Obviously including JScript in a site is more risky as if a user does not have it installed/activated then they may not be able to use such elements hence the reason I want to know how it is done. I have been working on a blog program with a tag system. When I add tags and ask to display them to a certain webpage they all appear on my WAMP environment but not my live server. Any thoughts as to why this might be? Here is the code needed to display the tags. I am not sure if maybe live servers have restrictions that might be stopping it from displaying.
This is on the main page to display the tags.
<div class="widget"> <?php echo '<h2>Tags</h2>'; echo '<ul>'; getTagCount($DBH); echo '</ul>'; ?> </div>Next here is the function from the includes file. function getTagCount($DBH) { //Make the connection and grab all the tag's TAG TABLE HAS TWO FIELDS id and name $stmt = $DBH->query("SELECT * FROM tags"); $stmt->execute(); $result = array(); $result = $stmt->fetchAll(); //For each row pulled do the following foreach ($result as $row){ //set the tagId and tagName to the id and name fields from the tags table $tagId = $row['id']; $tagName = ucfirst($row['name']); //Next grab the list of used tags BLOG_POST_TAGS TABLE HAS TWO FILEDS blog_post_id and tag_id $stmt2 = $DBH->query("SELECT count(*) FROM blog_post_tags WHERE tag_id = " . $tagId); $stmt2->execute(); $tagCount = $stmt2->fetchColumn(); //Print the following list echo '<li><a href="blog_tags.php?tagId=' . $tagId . '"title="' . $tagName . '">' . $tagName . '(' . $tagCount . ')</a></li></form>'; //End of loop - start again } }The "tags" database is structured like so id, name The "blog_post_tags" is structured like so, blog_post_id, tag_id On the WAMP server it returns all of tags while the live server only returns the first one. Any suggestions on what is going on? If you need any other info please let me know. I have a remote XML file that I try to parse automatically every x minutes. The problem is that it's a bit unstable, so sometimes file_get_contents() times out, other times SimpleXMLElement() fails. I get a few max execution time exceeded (30 sec) every day. Is it possible to return from a function after x seconds, or similar? How can I avoid this? I am very new to error handling. I have also tried using try, but there are other problems (like execution time), and I might be using try wrong, because it still gives errors. A basic example of what fails: Code: [Select] $x = file_get_contents("http://www.example.com/rss.xml"); $r = @new SimpleXMLElement($x); I'm trying to make a simple website where people register to my website. When the user doesn't fill anything inside the boxes they get a message "Please fill all required fields" on the register.php page On my local host require_once works good. It shows up.
But when i upload the files to my sever the require_once does not show up on the register.php It just refreshes and i dont get the message "Please fill all required fields"
This is the code that works in local host but not in a live server <?php require_once 'messages.php'; ?>
Here is my full code

I built the same project on my local server and it worked without giving me any error. but when i tried it on live server. its not working as it should. not showing any error. I tried to figure out the problem and found that for every page loading, it stops at the same line in my main.php file. <?php require($view); ?> starting from the above line. it stops. i came here to share my problem but i am unable to upload my files here. if there is a way to upload and share my files, please guide. zip file size of the whole project is 31.6 kb I have a php tutorial that I followed for creating, inserting, selecting and updating a MySQL database with php. Everything works fine so I wanted to put it into Wordpress. I took the code and placed it into the wordpress page and everything worked just fine except the update function. Here is the tutorial I used. http://www.phpsimple.net/mysql_insert_record.html It is also the part I am having trouble with. I am able to create a record and I am also able to select a record but when I choose "update" the form doesn't load the data. It will outside the website but not inside wordpress. I am hoping this is not vague but because of my inexperience I am not sure what else to say. I will be more than happy to provide any other information you need. When will modern PHP copy an array by reference only instead of reassigning to memory? For instance, when I execute $bigArray=$stmt->execute([$id]), PHP utilizes memory to store the data. But then when I execute $dataHolders[] = new DataHolder($bigArray), I believe $bigArray is passed by reference and a new copy of $bigArray will not be stored in memory. If in DataHolder::__construct, I executed $data[]='bla', then it is my understanding that PHP would see that the array is being modified and will automatically make a copy, but I am not doing so and just state this to confirm my understanding. The part that I am uncertain about is not the first time data is retrieved but any additional times. When I execute the next $bigArray=$stmt->execute([$id]), will PHP need to first store in memory the array that DataHolder::data references, then release the memory associated with $bigArray, and then store in memory the new $bigArray?
<?php class DataHolder { private $data; public function __construct(array $data) { $this->data=$data; //$this->data[]='bla'; <-- I believe this will force PHP to make a new copy of the array but I am not doing so } } $dataHolders=[]; foreach($ids as $id) { $bigArray=$stmt->execute([$id]); $dataHolders[] = new DataHolder($bigArray); }
I am unsuccessfully able to do the following:
User creates an account
After login, checks server if user has their own folder created
If doesn't exist, create it
Copy files from source_code to this new folder
My code does create a folder, but no files appear inside it.
Been trying to find an example with google search for the past 3 days with no luck.
I am running LAMP on Linux Mint OS to run my PHP webpages.
Can anyone tell me if issues with this section of coding?

Is this what the problem could be. This is the error messege it is throwing up Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user '_admin'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in d:\Domains\erban.co.uk\wwwroot\functions\database.php on line 4 Could not connect: Access denied for user '_admin'@'localhost' (using password: YES) Hi Everyone
I am new in PHP and when i was trying to see live preview of my one of the PHP site then it was not showing properly. all the formats, color, images were not showing, i don't know whats the problem.
I have set up a site for a local orchestra. I have a simple mysql db from which 'News' items are pulled using php. I have set up the following pages: 1. view_news.php 2. insert_news_item.php 3. delete_news_item.php 4. edit_news_item.php All pages are working fine. Now, rather than continually having to do news updates for the orchestra myself, I want to give a person on the orchestra committee access to the above pages so that he/she can do news updates for the orchestra, as required. What is the best way of proceeding from here? I thought about creating a password protected directory and putting pages 2, 3 and 4 above into that directory and then giving the committee member the protected directory password. Is that the way to go? What is the conventional way of doing this sort of thing? Two things to note: I'm new to php and the job is non-paying. I've set up the site as the willing parent of kids in the orchestra. Any advice will be much appreciated. I've a code that can create category if not existed the category & add this to the post. If category already exist then it will select the category. Here is my code snippet example : $mcptitle = 'Lenevo xiaoxin pad pro 2021'; //Geting Brand Name $brands = $mcptitle; $arr = explode(' ',trim($mcptitle)); $brand= $arr[0]; //Notice Brand name Detected //category Slug $catlink=sanitize_title($brand); //Finding category by name & geting id if($term = get_term_by( 'name', $brand, 'category' ) ){ $cat_id= $term->term_id; }else{ //creating category for not exists category $terms= wp_insert_term($brand, // the term 'category', // the taxonomy array( 'slug' => $catlink )); //geting new category id $cat_id= $terms['term_id']; //post start $post = array( 'post_author' => 1, 'post_content' => $content, 'post_status' => "publish", 'post_title' => $title, 'post_type' => "post", ); $post_id = wp_insert_post( $post, $wp_error ); //seting category wp_set_object_terms( $post_id, $cat_id, 'category' ); That works for create/add one category But I want to add multiple categories in it. Category array will be like this: $mcptitle = array("Volvo", "BMW", "Toyota"); Plz Can anyone help me about my thoughts. Thanks in advance. The Script:
<h1>Do Add a Message to the MySQL Database</h1> <form action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>" method="POST"> <textarea name="message"></textarea> <br/> <input type="submit" name="submit"/> </form> <?php // The Connection to the Database // Taken Out ?> <?php // To insert the text data into the MySQL database. if(isset($_POST['submit'])){ $tqs = "INSERT INTO messages (`message`) VALUES ('{$_POST['message']}')"; $tqr = mysqli_query($dbc, $tqs) or die(mysqli_error($dbc)); } ?> <?php // To select the text data from the MySQL database. $tqs = "SELECT * FROM messages"; $tqr = mysqli_query($dbc, $tqs); // To print out the text data inside of table on the page. echo "<h1>This Is Where the Messages Gets Printed on Screen</h1>"; echo "<table><tr><td>ID</td><td>The Message</td></tr>"; while($row = mysqli_fetch_assoc($tqr)){ echo "<tr><td>" . $row['id'] . "</td><td>" . $row['message'] . "</td></tr>"; } echo "</table>"; ?>1. When I have added text with the form to the MySQL database... 2. ... and I have clicked on "page reload" in Firefox to reload the page... 3. ... then the before submitted text gets submitted again to the MySQL database. So basically, add text with the form to the MySQL database, reload the page in Firefox, and the before added text will get submitted to the MySQL database again. My Question Is: What is the proper way to avoid this? Edited by glassfish, 06 October 2014 - 10:18 AM. I have a wordpress site that has a ribbon graphic on the index page posts that are in the category "features", it works great when it's like this: Code: [Select] <?php //for better seo, we use alt and titles in h query_posts('category_name=features&showposts=4'); while(have_posts()):the_post(); $attrs = array( 'src' => $src, 'class' => "", 'alt' => get_the_title(), 'title' => get_the_title(), );?> <!-- Blog entry --> <div class="blog_entry"> <!-- inside --> <div class="inside"> <!-- Thumbnail --> <div class="thumbnail"> <a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" title="<?php the_title();?>"><?php the_post_thumbnail('blogsmall', $attr );?></a> </div> <!-- /Thumbnail --> <!-- Resume --> <div class="resume"><div class="featured_banner2"></div> <h3 class="cufon"><a href="<?php the_permalink();?>"><?php the_title();?></a></h3> <p class="bigline"><?php the_excerpt();?></p> <br> <?php if(function_exists('the_ratings')) { the_ratings(); } ?> </div> <!-- /Resume --> but when going to the category view it doesn't work to just add the Code: [Select] <div class="featured_banner2"></div> as all post types get the ribbon. So I am trying to use a PHP if statement to only apply that featured_banner2 div line to posts with the category name of "features" I am a total php newbie, so far I tried this but it obviously is not right, I am trying though! lol: Code: [Select] <!-- Resume --> <div class="resume"> <?php if ( in_category( 'features' )) { <div class="featured_banner2"></div> } endif;?> <h3 class="cufon"><a href="<?php the_permalink();?>"><?php the_title();?></a></h3> <p class="bigline"><?php echo get_the_excerpt();?></p> </div> <!-- /Resume --> I'm using paypal PDT, so when the user has made payment he gets directed back to my site, on that page it executes a special sql query. I noticed I can refresh the page to make duplicate sql queries. How can I avoid this??
The Wordpress Atahualpa theme does not appear to be compatible with php 7.2. I know very little about php. I get the following error message in my error log:
