PHP - I Need To Show Data After Pressing Browser's Back Button [accidentally Pressed Enter Instead Of Tab]
not sure if this will find an answer but I am posting anyway. Any help is appreciated....my coder has left the team and no matter how I invite her to come and do some bug squashing, her new schedules won't fit a re-visit into my little aplication...I am eager to delve into the codes at my very low knowledge of php. I have initiated reading and is still trying to teach myself...but of course not as fast as the app needs the patch...here's the meat:

Hello. I decided to create my own browser game and started learning PHP and HTML. Everything is going quite well now I'm creating a primitive version of the game. I'm reading tutorials and moving forward fast. But I started thinking about the combat system and got stuck. I want to let my users to choose which monster to attack with buttons. I made this form as an example: <p>Choose which monster you want to hunt:</p> Rat<br /> <form action='main.php?p=hunt' method='post'> <input type='submit' name='rat' value='Attack' /><br /><br /> Slime<br /> <form action='main.php?p=hunt' method='post'> <input type='submit' name='slime' value='Attack' /> </form> And I'd like to know what code should I use to know which submit button was pressed, the rat or slime one. I currently only know how to do a lot of IF's to determine it so is there a short way to do it? If anyone can, please help me, and if you can try to explain it simply as I'm still starting to understand php . And also I'd like some suggestions where to run my combat script (the same page where the form is or it should be on a different page, if the page should use id from a rand() function and so on). Thanks I'm not sure how this would be done with php or something else, what I want is to have a button and when the button is pressed it creates a drop down menu and if it's pressed again then it creates a second drop down menu. I've been googling but haven't found anything yet if someone has an idea or a tutorial that they could direct me to that would be very helpful!!!! Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!!! The situation: The script is fetching data from the database and printing it out with a while loop, at the same time the rows are being broken up into pages with pagination. The problem: I'm using if and elseif statements for a sorting and ordering functionality. When I now choose a certain category to print out ONLY the chosen category, then the pagination will still be intact. But as soon as I click forward on the pagination navigation links, a page refresh (reload) will happen and the query will default to it's default setting which is category = ALL (and not anymore that specific category I chose earlier). My question: Is there any way to make the script remember the last pressed submit condition? Meaning that if I choose a certain category which should be printed, then the chosen category still remains chosen even if I click the pagination links which cause a page reload? Here's a small script excerpt, to help picture the example: $select_category is taken with $_REQUEST from a drop down menu. // ALL but NO OTHER if (($select_category == 'All') || (!isset($select_category)) && (!isset($most_liked))) { $query = "SELECT * FROM con, user WHERE con.user_id = user.user_id ORDER BY contributed_date DESC"; pagination_start ($dbc, $query); $offset = $pag_array[0]; $rows_per_page = $pag_array[1]; $query = $query . " LIMIT $offset, $rows_per_page"; knuffix_list ($query, $dbc); pagination_end ($pag_array); // CATEGORY but NOT most_liked } elseif (isset($select_category) && !isset($most_liked)) { $query = "SELECT * FROM con, user WHERE con.user_id = user.user_id AND category = '$select_category' ORDER BY contributed_date DESC"; pagination_start ($dbc, $query); $offset = $pag_array[0]; $rows_per_page = $pag_array[1]; $query = $query . " LIMIT $offset, $rows_per_page"; knuffix_list ($query, $dbc); pagination_end ($pag_array); Hi, there is probably a straightforward solution to my problem, but I can't quite work it out. I use the following PHP line to check whether the submit button in an html form was pressed or not: Code: [Select] if (isset($_POST['buttonname'])==FALSE) {do something} If the html form is contained within a PHP script as follows: Code: [Select] <?php print" <html> <body> <form action=check.php method=POST //form here </form> </body> </html> "; ?> then the check works fine. But if the html form is contained within an external html file that is called upon in an iframe as follows: Code: [Select] <?php print" <html> <body> <iframe src ='form.htm'></iframe> </body> </html> "; ?> then the check doesn't work and it always thinks the submit button wasn't pressed. How can I perform this check when the submit button is in an external html file that is called upon in an iframe? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks. Hello everyone, I have a page with a short form with just a password field and a submit button. I also have php code setting variables depending on whether or not the password is correct. When the password is entered and the submit button is CLICKED, everything works as it should. However, when the password is entered and the ENTER button is pushed to submit the form, the form is reset and nothing else happens. Also, this only happens in I.E., it works fine with Firefox. I have plenty of other forms that I use in the same manner but they all work whether the submit button is clicked or the enter button is pushed to submit, regardless of what browser is used. The idea is to have this window close (it's opened as a pop-up) and the main window load the next page. Again, it works perfectly as long as the submit button is clicked but not if the enter button is pushed. Not sure if it has something to do with my php code or what. Any ideas on how to fix this? Here's my code: Code: [Select] <?php if (isset($_POST['submit'])) { $pword = md5($_POST['pword']); $q = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `accounts` WHERE acct_number = '$acct' AND pword = '$pword'") or die (mysql_error()); $r = mysql_num_rows($q); // Checks to see if anything is in the db. if ($r == 1) { $student = "true"; } else { $student = "false"; } } else { $student = "unknown"; } ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <title>Student Verification...</title> </head> <!-- <body> tag is in PHP --> <?php if ($student == "true") { echo "<body onunload=\"opener.location=('signup.php?acct1=$acct')\">"; } else { echo "<body>"; } if ($student == "true") { echo "<div align='center'>"; echo "<p><font size='+2'>Passcode Correct!</font></p>"; echo "</div>"; echo "<div align='justify'>"; echo "<p>You will now be directed to the signup page.</p>"; echo "</div>"; echo "<div align='center'>"; echo "<p>Thank you.</p>"; echo "<input type='button' value='Continue to Signup...' onClick='window.close()'>"; echo "</div>"; echo "<meta http-equiv=\"REFRESH\" content=\"20;url=close.php\">"; } elseif ($student == "unknown") { echo "<div align='center'>"; echo "<table width='325' height='175' border='0' cellspacing='0' cellpadding='0'>"; echo "<tr>"; echo "<td width='325' align='center' valign='middle'>"; echo "<p><font size='+1'><strong>Welcome!</strong></font></p>"; echo "<p>Please enter the school passcode.</p>"; echo "<form name='form' method='POST' action='schoolpw.php'>"; echo "<p><input type='password' name='pword' size='30' maxlength='20' /></p>"; echo "<input type='submit' name='submit' id='submit' value='Submit' /> "; echo "<input type='button' name='cancel' value='Cancel' onClick='window.close()' />"; echo "</form>"; echo "</p>"; echo "</td>"; echo "</tr>"; echo "</table>"; echo "</div>"; } elseif ($student == "false") { echo "<div align='center'>"; echo "<table width='325' height='175' border='0' cellspacing='0' cellpadding='0'>"; echo "<tr>"; echo "<td width='325' align='center' valign='middle'>"; echo "<p><font size='+1'><strong>Welcome!</strong></font></p>"; echo "<p><font color='#FF0000'>Incorrect Passcode! I am trying to make a register form, but when I click the submit button, nothing happens. The company I work for is a not-for-profit organization, we provide medical services for people who can not afford to go to the regular doctor. We need a way to keep track of our patients and their visits and a way to search the data. I found an html form, with name, address, phone number, zip code,,,,,, and made a few changes to fit our needs. But I do not know how to get that information into the database. I also need a way to make sure the information is not a duplicate. Since we are a not-for-profit organization, funds are kinda tight. That is why I want to go with php instead of buying medical software. Most of the medical software on the market cost more then we can afford. I'am a computer tech here at the office, but my field is hardware, networking, and malware removal. PHP programming is new to me. So where do I start? I have a html form that collect information such as [name], [address], [email] (amongst others) and once you hit the submit button all the data you send to "thank_you.php" which dumps all the data from fields to the predefined database, as wwell as it telly you thank you for registering. What code do I need in order for "thank_you.php" to send [name] and [email] fields automatically in the background to other page on different server (such as www.otherdomain.com/storage.php)? Is such a think possible? Hello all
I'm new to this forum. I've been struggling on this problem for a few days now.
I’m writing a script to automatically push code to a git server. exec(‘git config user.name "’ . $userName . ‘"’); exec(‘git config user.email "’ . $userEmail . ‘"’); exec('git checkout -b ’ . $branch); exec(‘git add --all’); exec(‘git commit -m "’ . $message . ‘"’); exec('git push origin ’ . $branch);
When running the last command, the script stops and asks for a user name, then a password. I tried other forums, searching the net. I'm frustrated...
Thanks in advance. Hello everyone, I am having a problem since some time now and need some help. I have created a login page where the user has to input a username and password to login. The username will be put in a session and when the user logs out the session data and session itself gets destroyed. However when I go back in the browser history to the page where I logged in I get the "famous" resend information dialog that asks you to resend the information from the login form. Which means that all the post data gets resend and the user logs in again without having to put in a username and password. Here is my code: Login.tpl: Code: [Select] <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Snitch</title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="templates/css/snitch1440x900.css" /> </head> <body> <div id="login-achtergrond"> <div id="login"> <form action="." id="loginform" name="login" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="actie" value="Login"></input> <input type="text" id="username" name="username" value="" style="opacity:0.7;filter:alpha(opacity=70)"></input> <input type="password" id="password" name="password" value="" style="opacity:0.7;filter:alpha(opacity=70)"></input> <input id="aanmelden" type="submit" name="submit" value="" style="opacity:0;filter:alpha(opacity=0)"> </form> </div> <div id="registreer"> </div> </div> </body> </html> Here is the code of my login page (I created this in a OOP way): Code: [Select] <?php class Handler_Login extends Actie_Handler { function __construct($actie_handle) { parent::construct($actie_handle); $this->actie = $actie_handle; } function secured_handler() { if ($this->session->check_session() == false) { $password = $_POST['password']; $username = $_POST['username']; $login = $this->dbh->Login($username, $password); if ($login == true) { $this->session->set('username', $username); $this->view->displayHome(); $this->view->display(); } else { echo "You are not logged in!"; } unset($_POST['password']); unset($_POST['username']); } if ($this->session->check_session() == true) { $this->view->displayHome(); $this->view->display(); } } } ?> Here is the code of my logout: Code: [Select] <?php class Handler_Loguit extends Actie_Handler { function __construct($actie_handle) { parent::construct($actie_handle); $this->actie = $actie_handle; } function secured_handler() { $this->session->stopSession(); $this->view->displayLogin(); $this->view->display(); } } ?> Here is the code of my session: Code: [Select] <?php class Session { function __construct() { if(!isset($_SESSION)) { session_start(); } } function set($name, $value) { $_SESSION[$name] = $value; } function get($name) { return $_SESSION[$name]; } function stopSession() { $_SESSION = array(); //even though I don't use any cookies someone told me that I had to remove the cookie of the session to completely destroy it? //please tell me if this is correct if (isset($_COOKIE[session_name()])) { setcookie(session_name(), '', time()-42000, '/'); } session_destroy(); } function session_message($naam) { return print_r($_SESSION[$naam]); } function check_session() { if(isset($_SESSION['username']) && !empty($_SESSION['username'])) { return true; } else { return false; } } } ?> this is the code of my view for those who might be interested: Code: [Select] <?php class view_manager { private $tpl; function __construct() { } function displayStatus() { $status = file_get_contents("templates/status.tpl"); $this->tpl = str_replace("%content%", $status, $this->tpl); } function displayLogin() { $this->tpl = file_get_contents("templates/login.tpl"); } function displayHome() { $this->tpl = file_get_contents("templates/home.tpl"); } function display() { echo $this->tpl; } } ?> using a header to redirect to the login page is not going to work since I use my view_manager to display the pages. Does anyone know of any solution to get rid of that stupid resend information dialog without using a header? I tryed unsetting the values of POST in my login code but that did not seem to work. Please help me out I've been looking for an answer for over 1 and a half week so far Is there anyone who knows how to remove the POST data from a form when the user goes back in browser history? If it's not possible, is there any solution except using a header? I am getting strange behavior after a user submits a comment. After they comment on an article, I display a success message with two buttons: "Return to Article" and "Go to Home Page" Each button seems to work, and I was even able to "Return to Article" and then hit my browser's Back button to return the original "You Comment was Added" message, but if I hit the Back button after hitting "Go to Home Page" I got this error... Quote Notice: Undefined index: pageTitle in /Users/user1/Documents/DEV/++htdocs/01_MyProject/add_comment.php on line 39 Call Stack On Line 39 I have this code... Code: [Select] // Set Page Title. $pageTitle = $_SESSION['pageTitle']; It seems to me that if a user hits the Back button in general it will often cause problems, so is there a way to handle this?? I'm not exactly certain is causing the error above in the first place since my SESSION should be intact.... Debbie I have found a point in my site where the user may wish to go back a page. Using the back button in the browser works perfectly fine. However, for aesthetical reasons and for "obvious function" reasons i need to create a button on the page which goes back a step in the browsers history. I know I can do this with Javascript, but I would rather get it done with php first. Therefore is it possible to create a back button in PHP. The back button in question will go back one step in the browsers history to the same .php it is currently on but in a previous state. I found this from google, http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum88/870.htm, but then found there was some js in the answers. I cannot find any other posts similar to this in php freaks I have tried to create a back button, but I have not reached the correct solution. I log into first page (index.php) and then you will get two new buttons that brings me to two different pages. Then I want to come back to the login page, the session is gone and I have to log in again. I want to remain logged in when I get to the index page and be able to see the two buttons. I tried different things such as: Code: [Select] <input type="button" value="Return to previous page" onClick="javascript:history.go(-1)" /> Code: [Select] <?php $referer = $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']; if (!$referer == '') { echo '<p><a href="' . $referer . '" title="Return to the previous page">« Go back</a></p>'; } else { echo '<p><a href="javascript:history.go(-1)" title="Return to the previous page">« Go back</a></p>'; } ?> But that's not what I'm thinking about. How can I solve this? index.php <?php session_start(); if(isset($_POST['LoutBtn'])) { session_destroy(); } if(isset($_POST['LoginBtn'])) { //convert a string to all lower case letters. //if user gives username with big letters still can login. $user = strtolower($_POST['username']); $pass = $_POST['password']; if($user == 'admin' && $pass == '123') { $_SESSION['LogedIn'] = true; { print('Welcome admin'); ?> <table width="50" align="right" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="2"> <form method="POST" action="panel.php"> <tr> <td><input type="submit" value="add post" name="PnlBtn" /></td> </tr> </form> <form method="POST" action="stat.php"> <tr> <td><input type="submit" name="showstat" value="visitorlog" /></td> </tr> </form> </table> <?php } } elseif (empty($user) || empty($pass)) { print('<font color="#FF0000">Please fill in username and password!<br/></font>'); } elseif ($_POST['username'] != 'admin'){ print('<font color="#FF0000">wrong username<br/></font>'); } elseif ($_POST['password'] != '123'){ print('<font color="#FF0000">wrong password<br/></font>'); //elseif { // print('<font color="#FF0000">The User Name And/Or Password is incorrect! // Please try again...<br/></font>'); //print('<a href="index.php">Back</a>'); } } ?> <?PHP /* define the blog content file name */ $filename = "myBlogContent.txt"; ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> </head> <body> <form method="post" action="index.php" > <table width="300" border="1" align="right" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="2"> <tr> <td width="150">UserName:</td> <td> <input type="text" name="username" size="20" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td width="150">Password</td> <td><input type="password" name="password" size="20" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td><input type="submit" value="Login" name="LoginBtn" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td><input type="submit" value="Logout" name="LoutBtn" /></td> </tr> </table> </form> <!-- CONTENT DIV --> <div style="position:absolute; left: 100px; top: 100px; width: 400px;"> <?PHP /* check to see if the file exists */ if (!file_exists($filename)) { echo "The Blog Is Empty"; }else{ /* get the file lines into an array */ $BlogArray = file($filename); /* count the number of blog entries */ $count = count($BlogArray); $i=0; while($i<$count) { $new_array = explode("|", $BlogArray[$i]); echo "Posted by: " . $new_array[1] . I've written a quiz program where 50 English vocab words are pulled from a dB and displayed on one page with the order scrambled. My students then type the Spanish translation for each. When they submit the form the next page grades their work. They have to get a 90 or better for the grade to be automatically recorded, so I want them to click the back button and go back and make corrections. The problem is when they use a Chrome browser and click the back button the program re-sorts the order of questions. It leaves the order of their answers the same. So what they answered for number 1 is still in the field for number 1, but the questions (the English vocab word) is different. Chrome does this consistently so I thought this was a Chrome issue only. Then one of my students said the same thing happened to her when using Safari. So here is my question, how can I stop Chrome (or any other browser) from re-running my server-side PHP scripts (re-sorting the vocab array) when clicking the back button?
Here is the code for students taking the quiz:
<form method="post" action="portal.php?load=vquiz_grade" style="margin-left: 50px; line-height: 30px;">
$max = $count-1;
?>
//print "<br>";
<input type="hidden" name="max" value="<?print $max?>"> And here is the code showing them what they missed.
<?
// Total grade
print "You missed ".$wcount." words.<br>";
print "<table>";
// Grade response and set color
if ($wrong == 1){ if ($grade >= 90){
$query = "SELECT * FROM inno_vocab_assignments WHERE key_code = '$key_code' AND uname = '$secure_uname' AND teacher = '$teacher'";
// Prevent student from changing vocab list so as to do an easier list
// Insert grade
}
Thank you!
Hey, I made a register page and its all working great. I want to have a "Back" button when the user submits the form if password1 & password2 do not match or username allready exists.
