PHP - How To Run 2 Queries Based On Input Value

Hello all, looking for some help here as I seem to be fairly stuck... this yields no results at all and I give up, I need help! The user should be able to select an employee from a select field, and based on their selected we should be able to grab the start time and end time of that empoyee, which resides on the database.   My form:

I am trying to limit an user's input based on a text area size which is 180px.

Is this even possible?

There are ways to read how many linebreak's (\n) there are in a text area, but a long sentence will read as one linebreak.

Any Ideaas?

What I'm trying to do here is generate a table based on a form in which the user selects two options. The first option tells the script which database entries to put in the table, the second option tells it how to arrange them. The first works perfectly, the second not at all - it doesn't produce an error, it just doesn't do anything. I've found a number of tutorials that seem to suggest that the problem is somewhere in my punctuation around ORDER BY '$POST[sort]' but I've been unable to find a solution that actually works. Any help would be much appreciated, my code is below.

the idea on what im doing is like a converter, like showing what your name would look like with certain images per letter, when you input text (your name for example) and when you press the submit button you would get a series of images in a row that represent each character that you typed.   here is the example that i did...

Hello, I'm embarking on a pretty ambitious task and I need some bits of information here and there. One of the functions I need to achieve is to build a query or array of photos based on a background image and user input.    So imagine that I have a box  and within that box is a column of three rows.    I need to have three different bits of data be placed into each of the subsequent rows and then an image is taken of these three pieces of data overlaying the background photo. Then stored somewhere with an incremented identifier to be pulled later.    I think I can already begin to imagine how it would work but what eludes me is a "screenshot" function to generate the images. I'm looking for .png or .jpg end result files with fixed width/height and item placement.    Thank you for any help 

We recently upgraded from PHP4 to PHP5 and the below script that was working perfectly in 4 has completely stopped working and I can't figure out why for the life of me. I'm not an experienced PHP programmer--I've done some forms, but this is the first time I've used a database.

What needs to (and was) happen: A user enters their username in the form and gets a readout of their participation so far that month.

The problem(s): I know that it's storing the variable 'user' because it echoes it back properly, but the database is no longer allowing me to select the row based on that variable. I know it's not that I can't connect to the database because if instead of '$user' I change the code to a username I know is in there, I get the proper readout. This all started as soon as I transferred over to PHP5--before that, no problems at all.

The database information is all correct, I just took it out for privacy's sake.

I am currently learning php using video tutorials. I need help with regards to php queries.

I have the following code:

which is supposed to display content from a table inside phpmyadmin which i created manually using phpmyadmin. But It gives an error saying i must check the MariaDB version on how to right this query, something like that.

I have a discount box, where i wish to check two "if" queries.  These are i) the 'uniquecode' and ii) the 'uses' - so a code can only be used a set amount of times.

1) How do i state that question in php, bearing in mind the "if uses > 0" needs to relate to the same row as the unique code entered?

2) Also, i have stored the session price in $_SESSION['sessionprice'] - is this the best way to do this, and if not how should i store the current price. 

3) Lastly, and how do I do the php mathematics of "$_SESSION['sessionprice'] minus the discount" - again bearing in mind the "discount" needs to relate to the same row as the unique code entered? (as different codes will have different discounts).

Hello all,

I've tried several ways to calculate a commission in the multi level marketing script, but it all ended up with nothing, recursive functions, nested sets nothing worked, and i'm running out of time to keep trying

I've made multiple queries on the same table, and it's working, but only the first 3 queries, not more, I tried to perform it 4 times (although I need the queries to be performed 13 times) but still only 3 times

example: A recruited B and C, and B recruited D, and D recruited E.... what's supposed to happen is A takes a commission on B, C, D, and E
but now it only takes commission on the first three, and no commission for anyone comes after that, and the same for B, C, D, and E each takes commission on only 3 members down the line, and no more

how can i join the two queries so that they function as one. for example, if $keywords or $username is empty then the result will be null.
