PHP - Outputting Table Names From Database
Hello again!
I'm here with another PHP/Mysqli related question, I want to output the data i receive from the Query:
SHOW tables;Into html code, more specific: links. This is what i try'd to do: <div class="container"> <div class="header" align="center"> <nav> <ul> <li><a href="#">Home</a></li> <li><a href="#">Databases</a> <ul> <?php $mysqli = new mysqli('localhost','*****','*****','*****'); if ($mysqli->connect_error) { die("Connection failed: " . $mysqli->connect_error); } $sql = 'show tables from osiris1q_mtg'; $result = $mysqli->query($sql); if(!$result = $mysqli->query($sql)){ die('There was an error running the query [' . $mysqli->error . ']'); } // output data of each row while($row = $result->fetch_assoc()){ echo "<li><a href='#'></a>"$row"</li>"; } } else { echo "<li><a href='#'></a>0 results</li>"; } </ul> </li> </ul> </nav> </div> <!-- end .header --> ?>This is the header.php file which is included in the actual index page. This doesn't return anything not even the html parts of it. Even all the files i have 'included' aren't showing up anymore. I hope i explained myself good enough for anyone to understand How Anyone can help me out! Thank you in Advance! Similar TutorialsI'm a beginner to PHP and am stuck as to how I can fetch data from a MYSQL database and output that information in html to the website.
Currently I get the information from the database using normal php:
$result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM truffleProducts");Then I assign each field from the database to a php variable in a while loop: while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $id = $row{'id'}; $name = $row{'name'}; $price = $row{'Price_per_kg'}; $season = $row{'Season'}; $country = $row{'Country'}; $image = $row{'image'}; $review = $row{'review'}; }Then I just print each variable in a table using simple html and php. My problem is that it only outputs the latest element or row from my database. I want to output the database within a HTML template so that it is professional and tidy, but i cant figure out how to do that. Any help? Edited by louiscb, 22 October 2014 - 07:58 AM. Hello guys. I am facing a little problem on my website when I am trying to output the data from the database in the form of a table. If you go to http://sigmalogistix.com/track-trace/ and enter any on of the following B/L No's: 123456789 987651234 543216789 You can see that the table is being created but the data is not being shown to the user. If I switch back to the old code in which there was no table, then the data is being shown to the user upon entering the B/L No. Please help me guys. Attached below are the codes which I have inside the function.inc.php file and the index.php file. function.inc.php Code: [Select] <?php include 'db.inc.php'; function search_results($keywords) { $returned_results = array(); $where = ""; $keywords = preg_split('/[\s]+/', $keywords); $total_keywords = count($keywords); foreach($keywords as $key=>$keyword){ $where .= "`keywords` LIKE '%$keyword%'"; if ($key != ($total_keywords - 1)) { $where .= " AND "; } } $results = "SELECT `Bill_No`, `Origin_City`, `Origin_Country`, `Destination_City`, `Destination_Country`, `Status`, `Current_Location` FROM `billoflading` WHERE $where"; $results_num = ($results = mysql_query($results)) ? mysql_num_rows($results) : 0; if ($results_num === 0) { return false; } else { while ($results_row = mysql_fetch_assoc($results)) { $returned_results[] = array ( 'Bill_No' => $results_row['Bill_No'], 'Origin_City' => $results_row['Origin_City'], 'Origin_Country' => $results_row['Origin_Country'], 'Destination_City' => $results_row['Destination_City'], 'Destination_Country' => $results_row['Destination_Country'], 'Status' => $results_row['Status'], 'Current_Location' => $results_row['Current_Location'] ); } return $returned_results; } } ?> index.php Code: [Select] <?php include 'func.inc.php'; ?> <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html> <head> <title>search</title> </head> <body> <form action="" method="POST"> <p> <input type="text" name="keywords" size="17" maxlength="9" value="Enter B/L No." onfocus="if(this.value == 'Enter B/L No.'){this.value = '';}" /> <input type="submit" class="formbutton" value="Track" /> </p> </form> <?php if (isset($_POST['keywords'])) { $suffix = ""; $keywords = mysql_real_escape_string(htmlentities(trim($_POST['keywords']))); $errors = array(); if (empty($keywords)) { $errors[] = ''; } else if (strlen($keywords)<9) { $errors[] = '<br><strong>Your Bill of Lading Number must contain 9-digits.</strong>'; } else if (search_results($keywords) === false) { $errors[] = '<br><strong>Please enter a valid Bill of Lading Number.</strong>'; } if (empty($errors)) { $results = search_results($keywords); $results_num = count($results); $suffix = ($results_num !=1) ? I want to include a JOIN so the table shows name, email, and company (which is in a different table). Not sure where to put the join. 2 other things I'd like to do: Not all users have email and I want any NULL to output as N/A instead of NULL. Would like the rows to alternate background color between white and blue for each row. Any hints appreciated. $query= "select * from Managers"; $result=mysql_query($query); echo mysql_error(); echo '<table align="center" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="2"> <tr> <td align="left"><b>Name</b></td> <td align="left"><b>Email</b></td> <td align="left"><b>Company</b></td> </tr> '; while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result, MYSQL_ASSOC)) { echo '<tr bgcolor="' . $bg . '"> <td align="left">' . $row['name'] . '</td> <td align="left">' . $row['email'] . '</td> <td align="left">' . $row['company.name'] . '</td> //Need JOIN here </tr> '; } Hello, I have a script that processes data from a form, and then outputs data from a MySQL table based on which selections are made on the form. What I'm trying to do is create columns showing data for each month depending on which months the user selects, and then a "Total" column at the end of that. The output first determines the "family" the results are in, then the ID the product is for the parent family, and then it outputs the data based on what ID is listed. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do this without nesting while loops inside other while loops which I know is bad for server performance - and yes this does take a long time to complete. Here is some of my code for this to show what I'm doing wrong: Code: [Select] $searchdatabase5 = "SELECT field3 FROM slssum2 WHERE company = '$companyname' AND CONCAT(year,month) BETWEEN '$startyear$startmonth' AND '$endyear$endmonth' AND field3 != 0 AND field4 != '995' GROUP BY field3"; $run5 = mysql_query($searchdatabase5) or die(mysql_error()); while($row5 = mysql_fetch_assoc($run5)) { $field5_3 = $row5['field3']; echo '<tr><td colspan="0"><hr style="width: 100%; height: 1px; color: #a0a0a0;"></td></tr><tr><td colspan="0" bgcolor="#ccffcc"><strong>FAMILY '. $field5_3 .'</strong><br /></td></tr>'; $searchdatabase12 = "SELECT field4 FROM slssum2 WHERE company = '$companyname' AND CONCAT(year,month) BETWEEN '$startyear$startmonth' AND '$endyear$endmonth' AND field3 = '$field5_3' AND field4 != 0 GROUP BY field4"; $run12 = mysql_query($searchdatabase12) or die(mysql_error()); while($row12 = mysql_fetch_assoc($run12)) { $field12_4 = $row12['field4']; $searchdatabase6 = "SELECT field3,field4,field5,field6 FROM slssum2 WHERE company = '$companyname' AND CONCAT(year,month) BETWEEN '$startyear$startmonth' AND '$endyear$endmonth' AND field4 = '$field12_4' GROUP BY field3,field4,field5"; $run6 = mysql_query($searchdatabase6) or die(mysql_error()); while($row6 = mysql_fetch_assoc($run6)) { $field6_3 = $row6['field3']; $field6_4 = $row6['field4']; $field6_5 = $row6['field5']; $field6_6 = $row6['field6']; echo '<tr><td colspan="0">'. $field6_5 .' - '. $field6_6 .'</td></tr><tr><td valign="middle" align="left" bgcolor="#ccc" width="183px">Units</td>'; $searchdatabase7 = "SELECT * FROM slssum2 WHERE company = '$companyname' AND CONCAT(year,month) BETWEEN '$startyear$startmonth' AND '$endyear$endmonth' AND field5 = '$field6_5' ORDER BY year,month ASC"; $run7 = mysql_query($searchdatabase7) or die(mysql_error()); while($row7 = mysql_fetch_assoc($run7)) { $field7_3 = $row7['field3']; $field7_4 = $row7['field4']; $field7_5 = $row7['field5']; $field7_9 = $row7['field9']; $field7_10 = $row7['field10']; $field7_month = $row7['month']; $field7_year = $row7['year']; $startmonth2 = ltrim($startmonth, '0'); echo '<td bgcolor="#e6e6e6" width="95px" nowrap="nowrap" align="right">'; echo $field7_10; echo '</td>'; } Here is the output: I know the code is very bad, but what would be the best way to recreate what I have in the image? Thank you. Hi all. The title pretty much says it all. I really have no idea if this is even possible or where to start. A recent dilemma caused me to have to change a field name with some spaces in it. I have a database with ~65 tables, a majority of which were converted from Access. So I'm curious as to how many others have bad field names. Is there a way to use PHP to go through all the field names in a database and remove spaces? This topic has been moved to MySQL Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=318312.0 I think that I am in way over my head here... What I want is a connection to a bunch of tables at once. (eg: name1_tbl, name2_tbl name3_tbl...etc....) I want to get those names without the "_tbl" from a different table that displays them like this: name1, name2, name3...etc. I THINK i want the end output to be something like this: Code: [Select] <?php $name1 = mysql_query = ('SELECT* FROM name1_tbl ORDER BY user_id DESC'); $name2 = mysql_query = ('SELECT* FROM name2_tbl ORDER BY user_id DESC'); $name3 = mysql_query = ('SELECT* FROM name3_tbl ORDER BY user_id DESC'); // for how ever many there are ?> i just dont know how to get to that point, and dont want to add them manually when a new person and table is added.. I dont know if this makes any sense...if anyone could help it would be much appreciated.. the second database found on the cloud
i try to get JSON data but how to insert and update them to another online database with the same table my php script to return json data <?php include_once('db.php'); $users = array(); $users_data = $db -> prepare('SELECT id, username FROM users'); $users_data -> execute(); while($fetched = $users_data->fetch()) { $users[$fetchedt['id']] = array ( 'id' => $fetched['id'], 'username' => $fetched['name'] ); } echo json_encode($leaders);
i get
{"1":{"id":1,"username":"jeremia"},"2":{"id":2,"username":"Ernest"}} Edited March 24 by mahenda I would like to echo field names in my table on webpage one by one. I know mySQL has "describe" function which will list the complete table, I am looking for a way to display each field name one by one with other stuff in between them like input field or description. This serves more or less a meaningless purpose for my testing, but I've been trying to echo out the names of the tables that are being used in my UPDATE and SELECT queries and I have yet found a way to do this.. Did some research on php.net and Google and did not find anything that seems to directly address this.. My guess is it's so stupid simple, I probably will have an answer by the time I wake up.. But id there are any suggestions on this, Id be glad to take. Okay, so I'm trying to run a query to pull the information from a specific item that they click on in order to edit it. When I run an echo $query, though, it shows the field names rather than the information from the table. How can I make it so that it pulls the information rather than the field names? Here's what I have... <?php include("lib.php"); define("PAGENAME", "Edit Equipment"); if ($player->access < 100) $msg1 = "<font color=\"red\">"; //name error? $error = 0; $query = $db->execute("SELECT * FROM items WHERE id=?", array($_POST['id'])); echo "$id"; $result = mysql_query($query); echo "$query"; $data = mysql_fetch_assoc($result); $msg1 .= "</font>"; //name error? ?> Thanks!! My Php Buddies, I have mysql tbl columns these:
id: Now, I want to display their row data by excluded a few columns. Want to exclude these columns: date_&_time account_activation_code account_activation_status id_verification_video_file_url password
So, the User's (eg. your's) homepage inside his account should display labels like these where labels match the column names but the underscores are removed and each words' first chars CAPITALISED:
Id: 1
