PHP - Replacing Text On Page, But Breaks If I Use Body Selector
Hi,
I have the following code which will replace text on my page. It works if the word is in a <p> tag, but if I change it to select the <body> or a <div>, the page completely breaks and displays a load of code on the page.
$("p").text(function () {Any ideas how I can search the whole body and replace text? Thanks! Similar TutorialsThis topic has been moved to HTML Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=323045.0 Hi My problem is that text that is in my database are showing up next to each other in a line rather than on seperate lines, normally I would have just used <br> but as it's generated from my sql I don't know how to do it. Code: [Select] <ul id="headlines"> <?php foreach ( $results['articles'] as $article ) { ?> <a href=".?action=viewArticle&articleId=<?php echo $article->id?>"><?php echo htmlspecialchars( $article->title )?></a> <?php } ?> </ul> Anyone have any idea? Thanks Hi All, I am exporting data to excel, but run into a problem if the text contains a line break. When it gets to the line break, it cuts off the rest of the text. Here is my printer code: Code: [Select] $file = 'Notes_Export'; $csv_output = array(); $tmp = array(); $tmp[] = 'Created On'; $tmp[] = 'Created By'; $tmp[] = 'Note'; $csv_output[] = '"' . implode('","', $tmp) . '"'; $sql = "SELECT pn.created_on, CONCAT( u.firstname,' ', u.lastname) AS created_by, pn.note FROM prop_notes pn LEFT JOIN users u ON pn.created_by = u.user_id "; $sql .= "WHERE pn.deleted_by IS NULL AND pn.archive = '0' AND pn.property_id = '".$_GET['pid']."'"; $result = mysqli_query($connect, $sql); while($rowr = mysqli_fetch_row($result)) { $tmp = array(); for ($j=0; $j<3; $j++) {$tmp[] = $rowr[$j];} $csv_output[] = '"' . implode('","', $tmp) . '"'; } $filename = $file."_".date("Y-m-d_H-i",time()); header("Content-type: application/vnd.ms-excel"); header("Content-disposition: csv" . date("Y-m-d") . ".csv"); // header( "Content-disposition: filename=".$filename.".csv"); header("Content-disposition: attachment; filename=".$filename.".csv"); print implode("\n",$csv_output) . "\n"; exit; I would like to grab sections out of a body of text, but I am not sure how to get started with this... So, lets say I have an array of word to find in the doc $words = array_unique(array('the', 'squirrel', 'jumped', 'the', 'fence')); Using that array, I would like to get key section in the body of text (that was passed to the function) and get about 25 characters before the text and about 25 after. I want a maximum of three sections, and have them concatenated by some dots. basically it is the same look as google: Quote Once located, block off all but one using flashing, wire fence or hardware cloth. .... If the squirrel is jumping from high to low, as from a tree Any Ideas how I could do something like this? Am adding text with paragraphs into my database but when i view that data on another page it's just one big block of text. :S Anyone no how i can stop this? Hi all, I'm currently rewriting our contact us form using the php Pear Mail package. It allows both html based emails and text based emails, and displays the relevant version based on the end recipients broswer capabilities. I have the html version working perfect, however the text based version spits out the whole message without line breaks. Since some of the computers in our building only except text emails (due to security) it needs to be laid out so that it is legible. I've searched around and tried various options but the emails are still arriving without breaks. So as an example: A User Inputs the following message using a textarea on the php form: Hi there, Great website, need help with such and such though. Regards Bob The email message gets collected and included in a html message. Then a duplicate text based message is made like so (Code so far): Code: [Select] $plaintxt = '-----------------------------------------' . "\n"; $plaintxt .= Website Enquiry' . "\n"; $plaintxt .= '-----------------------------------------' . "\n"; $plaintxt .= 'A visitor to our website has submitted the following enquiry:' . "\n\n"; $plaintxt .= 'Name: ' . $visitor_name . "\n"; $plaintxt .= 'Company Name: ' . $visitor_companyname . "\n"; $plaintxt .= 'Email Address: ' . $visitor_email . "\n"; $plaintxt .= 'Telephone Number: ' . $message_telephone . "\n\n"; $plaintxt .= 'Subject of Enquiry: ' . $msg_subject . "\n"; $plaintxt .= 'Enquiry: ' . "\n\n"; $plaintxt .= $message_body . "\n\n"; $plaintxt .= '-----------------------------------------' . "\n\n"; $plaintxt .= 'User IP Address:' . $ip . "\n"; $plaintxt .= 'User Browser Info:' . $httpagent . "\n"; $plaintxt .= 'Date/Time Submitted:' . $time . "\n"; $crlf = "\n"; $headers = array('From' => $contact_from_email, 'Return-Path' => $contact_from, 'Subject' => $subject, 'To' => $contact_to); // Creating the Mime message $mime = new Mail_mime($crlf); // Setting the body of the email $mime->setTXTBody($htmlmessage); //Text version of the email $mime->setHTMLBody($plaintxt); // HTML version of the email "\n"; - These were suggested by users on the pear mail manual. Then once sent and opened you'd expect to see: Quote ----------------------------------------- Website Enquiry ----------------------------------------- A visitor to our website has submitted the following enquiry: Name: Bob Company Name: Someplace Ltd Email Address: bob@someplace.com Telephone Number: 01234 567890 Subject of Enquiry: help Enquiry: Hi there, Great website, need help with such and such though. The line breaks are there. Ok i am stuck, i created a php script that draws data from a mysql dB into a php page. How can I send the page as the body in email? I do not need to preview the page, but can send it without ever viewing if that helps. When I put my code into a variable it does nothing. Is it caching? Should I load the results into mysql then send?please advise.. Hi people, I really hope you guys can help me out today. I'm just a newbe at php and i'm having real trouble. Bassically all I want to do is have a user type in a company name in a html form. If what the user types in the form matches the company name in my php script i want the user to be sent to another page on my site. If what the user types in the form doesnt match the company name in my php script i want the user to be sent to a differnt page like an error page for example. this is my html form: Code: [Select] <form id="form1" name="form1" method="post" action="form_test.php"> <p>company name: <input type="text" name="company_name" id="company_name" /> </p> <p> <input type="submit" name="button" id="button" value="Submit" /> </p> </form> And this is the php code I'm trying to process the information on: Code: [Select] <?php $comp_name = abc; if(isset ($_POST["company_name"])){ if($_POST["company_name"] == $comp_name){ header("Location: http://www.hotmail.com"); exit(); } else{ header("Location: http://www.yahoo.com"); exit(); } } ?> The thing is i'm getting this error when i test it: Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at D:\Sites\killerphp.com\form_test.php:10) in D:\Sites\killerphp.com\form_test.php on line 17 Please can some one help me out, i'm sure this is just basic stuff but i just cant get it to work Cheers. what's the best way to have a website in 2 languages? I already have the website duplicated in the 2nd language but I'm thinking on the best way to do the language change. should I just append variables to the URL when clicking on the flag icon on each page to change to the 2nd language? any other ideas?? Not too familiar with sessions but I was curious to get others' input on this situation. I want to have users visit my site and be confronted with selecting their region, which will filter out the content they see. What type of sessions lifetime should I be working with here? I was thinking of keeping the session registered for as long as they stay on the site and maybe an hour afterwards just incase they visit again. I am wanting to do something similar to this: http://www.dimarzio.com/pickup-picker My question involves the concept rather than any specific code on how to execute this. For example, we are selling violins and we want the user to input info about their playing style, and give them the three best violins based on their entry. This is the data I've been given: Level: Beginner Intermediate Advanced Soil, Kreisler, Gibson Soil, Kreisler, Ysaye, Cremonese, Gibson Cannon, Soil, Ysaye, K.Joseph, Keifetz Bowing Style: Soft Medium Hard Soil, Medici, Kreisler Soil, Medici, K.Joseph, Ysaye Cannon, Kreisler, Soil, Heifetz Musical Style Classical Fiddle Rock Ysaye, Soil, Provigny Medici, Ysaye, K.Joseph Kreisler, Diable, Vieuxtemps Desired Tone: Bright Balanced Dark Soil, Medici, Provigny Kreisler, Soil, Ysaye Cannon, Diable, Plowden So if the user inputs Expert, Hard, Rock, and Dark I will data sets of violins consisting of: Cannon, Soil, Ysaye, K.Joseph, Heifetz // Cannon, Kreisler, Soil, Heifetz // Kreisler, Diable, Vieuxtemps // Cannon, Diable, Plowden Out of those I need to output the user the three best choices for them. Cannon is listed in 3 out of the 4, so that has to be #1. Now there are three more violins that match two of the criteria. The Soil, Kriesler and Diable. In order to drill that down to two choices, I would think the questions would have to be ranked according to importance. For instance Tone is most important, followed by bowing style, musical genre, and skill level. Based on that ranking, the program should choose the Diable and Kreisler. I am not entirely sure how to approach this. Since this data will not change frequently, should this even get the database involved? Should the info just be stored in a multi-dimensional array? Once the data is in an array, whether from the DB or not, how should I go about programming the logic to examine the arrays in order of importance and grab the violins that are most relevant? Any help is much appreciated! I figured this was going to be easy, until I actually started thinking about it! I have this software that lets user's use themes and so on. But one feature they didn't add into the peice of code is image display of the theme before the person chooses. I was hoping someone could help me figure out what bit of code I need to make it work. I know joomla has this feature but I don't care for joomla and I like this script alot more. All I can offer is the code where it displays the theme selector. PHP Part // HANDLE SUBMITTED DISPLAY SETTINGS // if (isset($_POST["SubmitDisplay"])) { myQ(" UPDATE `[x]users` SET `use_theme` = '{$_POST["theme"]}', WHERE `id`='".me('id')."' LIMIT 1 "); } /* Populate the site themes */ if ($handle = opendir("theme/")) { $themeInUse = (me("use_theme") != "" ? me("use_theme") : $CONF["DEFAULT_THEME"]); while (false !== ($file = readdir($handle))) { if ($file != "." and $file != ".." and $file != "templates" and is_dir("theme/".$file)) { $themesReplacementArray[] = array( "theme" => $file, "select" => ($file == $themeInUse ? "selected=\"selected\"" : ""), ); } } closedir($handle); } $tpl -> Loop("themes", $themesReplacementArray); HTML Part Code: [Select] <form method="post"> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <td><strong>Site style: </strong></td> <td width="10"> </td> <td> <select name="theme" id="theme"> <loop themes> <option value="{theme}" {select}>{theme}</option> </loop themes> </select> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="3"><input name="SubmitDisplay" type="submit" class="submit" id="SubmitDisplay" value="Save" /></td> </tr> </table> </form> Thanks in advance. Please help. I am trying to replace parenthesises () in a string with <>. I tried preg_replace and str_replace, but was not success. Here is what I have for str_replace: $word = "(test)"; $word = str_replace('(', '<', $word); $word = str_replace(array('(', ')'), array('<','>'), $word); I have a boostrap conflict regarding box sizing. I solved it with a simple CSS rule:
* { box-sizing: content-box; }Now the problem is my bootstrap form isn't working. I need to make the box sizing apply to everything except the bootstrap form: <form id="contactForm" action="<?php echo htmlspecialchars($_SERVER['PHP_SELF'],ENT_QUOTES); ?>" method='post'> <!-- HTML HERE --> </form>Any ideas? Thanks. How come this is not replacing correctly? $rp = strtr($rp,"[TIMES]","<span style='font-family: Times New Roman, Times, serif'>") Hey guys, I have a quick question. Im going to be making a script that will output the name of a news article along with the poster's name beside it. There is only a certain amount of space where that stuff can go so I want to know how I can make it so that say after 20 characters, it ends and puts "..." beside it. Is this possible with php? How would I do it? Hello, Is str_replace the best way to go about this? In MYSQL, a html template is stored, such that: Quote <table width="{$width}">lots of other ........</table> This is extract from the database, and stored in a string. I would use eval(), but, any user can update this template, so I need to be able to set which variables will be replaced with what the variable is. Thanks! |
