PHP - Replacing Text On Page, But Breaks If I Use Body Selector

Hi all,

I'm currently rewriting our contact us form using the php Pear Mail package. It allows both html based emails and text based emails, and displays the relevant version based on the end recipients broswer capabilities.

I have the html version working perfect, however the text based version spits out the whole message without line breaks. Since some of the computers in our building only except text emails (due to security) it needs to be laid out so that it is legible. I've searched around and tried various options but the emails are still arriving without breaks.

So as an example:

A User Inputs the following message using a textarea on the php form:

Hi there,

Great website, need help with such and such though.

Regards

Bob


The email message gets collected and included in a html message. Then a duplicate text based message is made like so (Code so far):

Yet if you look at the source of the email. The line breaks are there. Am I missing something?

im working on my website and im trying to insert text from a file into the webpage.

the webpage is
index.php

the .txt file is
indexbody.txt

at the point of where the code is i would like to insert the contents of the text file into the html document so the person viewing the site can read it as if it was directly in that webpage.

I have tried adding the plain text part but nothing has worked, could someone else look at this and show me what I need to add so that it has the text/plain MIME part as well?

Ok i am stuck, i created a php script that draws data from a mysql dB into a php page. How can I send the page as the body in email? I do not need to preview the page, but can send it without ever viewing if that helps. When I put my code into a variable it does nothing. Is it caching? Should I load the results into mysql then send?please advise..

Hi people, I really hope you guys can help me out today. I'm just a newbe at php and i'm having real trouble.

Bassically all I want to do is have a user type in a company name in a html form.

If what the user types in the form matches the company name in my php script i want the user to be sent to another page on my site.

If what the user types in the form doesnt match the company name in my php script i want the user to be sent to a differnt page like an error page for example.

what's the best way to have a website in 2 languages?
I already have the website duplicated in the 2nd language but I'm thinking on the best way to do the language change.

should I just append variables to the URL when clicking on the flag icon on each page to change to the 2nd language?

Not too familiar with sessions but I was curious to get others' input on this situation. I want to have users visit my site and be confronted with selecting their region, which will filter out the content they see.

What type of sessions lifetime should I be working with here? I was thinking of keeping the session registered for as long as they stay on the site and maybe an hour afterwards just incase they visit again.

My question involves the concept rather than any specific code on how to execute this.

For example, we are selling violins and we want the user to input info about their playing style, and give them the three best violins based on their entry. This is the data I've been given:

Level: Beginner Intermediate Advanced Soil, Kreisler, Gibson Soil, Kreisler, Ysaye, Cremonese, Gibson Cannon, Soil, Ysaye, K.Joseph, Keifetz Bowing Style: Soft Medium Hard Soil, Medici, Kreisler Soil, Medici, K.Joseph, Ysaye Cannon, Kreisler, Soil, Heifetz Musical Style Classical Fiddle Rock Ysaye, Soil, Provigny Medici, Ysaye, K.Joseph Kreisler, Diable, Vieuxtemps Desired Tone: Bright Balanced Dark Soil, Medici, Provigny Kreisler, Soil, Ysaye Cannon, Diable, Plowden
So if the user inputs Expert, Hard, Rock, and Dark I will data sets of violins consisting of: Cannon, Soil, Ysaye, K.Joseph, Heifetz // Cannon, Kreisler, Soil, Heifetz // Kreisler, Diable, Vieuxtemps // Cannon, Diable, Plowden

Out of those I need to output the user the three best choices for them. Cannon is listed in 3 out of the 4, so that has to be #1. Now there are three more violins that match two of the criteria. The Soil, Kriesler and Diable. In order to drill that down to two choices, I would think the questions would have to be ranked according to importance. For instance Tone is most important, followed by bowing style, musical genre, and skill level. Based on that ranking, the program should choose the Diable and Kreisler.

I am not entirely sure how to approach this. Since this data will not change frequently, should this even get the database involved? Should the info just be stored in a multi-dimensional array? Once the data is in an array, whether from the DB or not, how should I go about programming the logic to examine the arrays in order of importance and grab the violins that are most relevant?

Any help is much appreciated! I figured this was going to be easy, until I actually started thinking about it!

I have this software that lets user's use themes and so on. But one feature they didn't add into the peice of code is image display of the theme before the person chooses. I was hoping someone could help me figure out what bit of code I need to make it work. I know joomla has this feature but I don't care for joomla and I like this script alot more. All I can offer is the code where it displays the theme selector.

Please help.  I am trying to replace parenthesises () in a string with <>.  I tried preg_replace and str_replace, but was not success.

Here is what I have for str_replace:

I have a boostrap conflict regarding box sizing. I solved it with a simple CSS rule:

            box-sizing: content-box;
            }

Now the problem is my bootstrap form isn't working. I need to make the box sizing apply to everything except the bootstrap form:

Hey guys, I have a quick question.

Im going to be making a script that will output the name of a news article along with the poster's name beside it.

There is only a certain amount of space where that stuff can go so I want to know how I can make it so that say after 20 characters, it ends and puts "..." beside it.

Is this possible with php? How would I do it?

Is str_replace the best way to go about this?

In MYSQL, a html template is stored, such that:

This is extract from the database, and stored in a string. I would use eval(), but, any user can update this template, so I need to be able to set which variables will be replaced with what the variable is.
