PHP - Subscribe Form No Longer Posts Input Data
I have a 'subscribe' form on a website that uses Ajax to validate the input fields, the form is then processed via php. The actual html code resides on a Wordpress page.
I had actually just got the form to work again. The website was static, and I transferred everything over to Wordpress, and the form didnt work. I was able to get it working by specifying the url: in ajax, as an absolute path to my php form. Overnight, something, I'm not sure what, stopped the form from processing. No data is posted to myql, and no email is sent or received. The status message just hangs at "Please wait while we process your information..." This message is in part of my Ajax code, so I am thinking something is wrong with my php script. I have a 'contact' page that uses nearly identical code that the 'subscribe' pages uses to validate the input fields, and it works.
I was able to recover both the ajax and php script from an earlier time when they did work, I uploaded back to my server and nothing, the form still does not process. I also made sure my database credentials were correct with my host, and even tested my connection to mysql which I was able to connect. Next, I made sure I was able to send mail with my host.
I don't know what is causing the form to hang, and I would love to get this solved; any help would be appreciated!

I'm using an Upload Script, and I've been working on trying to style the 'Choose File Button' (input file button) Hello Everyone, I'm not a programmer, so please bear with me. I have a form, and on submit, need for it to send the data 1. to formmail.cgi (a PERL script) that emails me the information and then 2. sends the data to a shopping cart script called phpcart.php I'm told the best way to do this, is to have the forms ACTION post to a php script, which executes the two scripts above. I imagine something like this: <?php send data to formmail.cgi. When finished send data to phpcart.php exit ?> I've installed a few PHP applications on my site, but writing code is beyond me. Can anyone help? I would surely appreciate it. James Hi, I'm trying to make a form that will submit a customers order into my database. The form it self is no problem and posting it to the database that part I can do, but I want this form to find existing posts in my database as the user inputs information. As an example if I add an ordrer for a customer ordering item numberr "1234" the form will search for item numberr "1234" and print it back to the form before the user submit the form, like "auto finish" the form. So in other words it will search the database "on the fly" for this item and fill it in. Could someone point me in the right direction? Somewhere in the PHP manual or maybe a good tutorial on this topic. as far as everything goes, i have it working but not quite perfect yet... you may assume already what im trying to do, and yes im making a comment box option for each news posting I have. I have it working up to the point of showing comment posts and posting them. But my issue is, anytime i submit a comment for one news post, it will repeat the post for how many news postings i have and will place them in each news posting. so i need some help to prevent this lol. here's my code Code: [Select] <?php //News Code Here $dbtn = 'news'; $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM $dbtn ORDER by id DESC LIMIT 10") or die("query failed: " . msql_error()); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { list($id, $header, $date, $news, $edate) = $row; $news = nl2br($news); $date = date("M j, Y",strtotime("$date")); echo '<table width="680" border="0" cellpadding="14" cellspacing="0">'; echo '<tr>'; echo '<td class="newspost">'; echo '<font size="+2"><b>'.$header.'</b></font><font size="-1" color="#CCCCCC"> - '.$date.'</font><br />'; echo '<hr color="#FFFFFF" width="100" align="left" size="1">'; echo ' - '.$news.$edate; echo '</td>'; echo '</tr>'; echo '<tr>'; echo '<td>'; $comres = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM comment WHERE menu_title='$dbtn' AND post_id='$id' ORDER by date DESC") or die("query failed: " . msql_error()); while($rows = mysql_fetch_array($comres)){ list($comid, $menu_title, $post_id, $comdate, $comname, $comment) = $rows; $comment = nl2br($comment); $comdate = date("M j, Y",strtotime("$comdate")); echo 'User: '.$comname.'<br />'; echo ' - '.$comment; echo '<div align="right"><font color="grey">'.$comdate.'</font></div>'; } echo '<a class="show_hide" rel="#slidingDiv_'.$id.'">Comment</a>'; echo '<div id="slidingDiv_'.$id.'" class="toggleDiv" style="display: none;">'; if(isset($_POST["add"])){ $name = $_POST["comname"]; $comment = $_POST["comment"]; $querys = "INSERT INTO comment (menu_title, post_id, date, name, comment) VALUES ('$dbtn', '$id', CURDATE(), '$name', '$comment')"; mysql_query($querys) or die("Error, insert query failed: ".mysql_error()); echo '<br /><br />Thank You!'; } else { echo '<form method="post">'; echo '<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="2">'; echo '<tr>'; echo '<td align="left" valign="top">Name</td>'; echo '<td align="left" valign="top">Comment</td>'; echo '</tr>'; echo '<tr>'; echo '<td align="left" valign="top"><input name="comname" size="25" type="text" id="comname"></td>'; echo '<td align="left" valign="top"><textarea name="comment" id="comment" cols="40" rows="4"></textarea></td>'; echo '</tr>'; echo '<tr>'; echo '<td> </td>'; echo '<td> </td>'; echo '</tr>'; echo '<tr>'; echo '<td> </td>'; echo '<td align="right" valign="top"><input name="add" type="submit" id="add" value="Submit"></td>'; echo '</tr>'; echo '</table>'; echo '</form>'; echo '</div>'; } echo '</td>'; echo '</tr>'; echo '</table>'; } ?> I have a form on our website that a user can fill out for custom product. I want the form data to be 1) stored into a mysql database AND after storing said data, 2) email the same data to our sales department. 1) The form data DOES get stored into mysql database (except for the first two fields, for some weird reason) 2) I added a "mail" section to the php file that stores the data into the database, but it is not working correctly. I have stripped the email portion down to sending just one of the fields in the "message" to make it easier for troubleshooting I have included here, both the form section of the html file, and the formdata.php file that processes the data for your analysis. I am relatively new to php so there are going to be some issues with security, but I can work on those after I get the store & email process to work correctly. Please review my code and see if anyone can be of assistance. I looked through the forums and couldn't find another issue that was the same as mine. Mailchimp supplies web form code for adding subscribers from a web page. I need to adapt this code so that instead of form fields, php variables get passed on to mailchimp. This is because the form fields are part of another form and you can have forms in forms. The variables I need to pass to Mailchimp a rev as follows:
$firstname
$lastname
$email
These variables have been passed from an earlier form via $_POST with similar names e.g. firstName, lastName and email.
The mailchimp form code is below with the id numbers replaced with XXX, YYY and ZZZ
<form action="//asn.us7.list-manage.com/subscribe/post?u=XXX;id=YYY" method="post" id="mc-embedded-subscribe-form" name="mc-embedded-subscribe-form" class="validate" target="_blank" novalidate>
<h2>Subscribe to our mailing list</h2> I have a calendar select date function for my form that returns the date in the calendar format for USA: 02/16/2012. I need to have this appear as is for the form and in the db for the 'record_date' column, but I need to format this date in mysql DATE format (2012-02-16) and submit it at the same time with another column name 'new_date' in the database in a hidden input field. Is there a way to do this possibly with a temporary table or something? Any ideas would be welcome. Ultimately I hope to have 2 tables in my database ecmt_poslist and ecmt_poslistdetails both containing the data from the above 2x .xml files. Hey Guys...I am trying to secure my php file and have been reading a lot regarding sql injection. I still dont understand clearly how to prevent sql injection through numeric data input, since from what I understood mysql_real_escape_string() does nothing about it only prevents attacks on string input. Here's an example: if ($action == "checkId") { //retreive data from flash $user_id=mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['Id']); $result = mysql_query("SELECT user_id from users WHERE user_id = '$user_id'"); if (mysql_num_rows($result) > 0) { echo "status1=exists"; } else { echo "status1=id doesnt exist"; } } I would like to create a function like this: foreach($_POST as $post) { $postvars[$key] = htmlentities($post); //XSS prevention $postvars[$key] = mysql_real_escape_string($post); //Sql String Prevention } But then again...How do I check on the numeric POST's ? how do I validate them through this function? Any suggestions and/or ideas? Thanks a lot in advance! Cheers. Am new here - looks like a great foru! I would sincerely appreciate any help anyone can give me. The form and program actually work for its intended function, but I am trying to enhance the user experience by preventing customers from having to reenter all of their data should there be a problem with any of the data submitted. I have been able to do that with the contact form portion, but what I am having trouble with is the portion which has as many as 400 possible entries. So, in a nutshell, if the customers contact data is incomplete or in error, the form will ask them to return to the page and correct things. The previous data entered has been saved in the session and the input value will equal the previous entry. i.e. <tr> <td align="right" class="infoBox"><?php echo ENTRY_EMAIL_ADDRESS; ?></td> <td align=left><?php echo "<input type=text name='cemail' value=\"$cemail\" size=35 maxlength=35>" ?></td> </tr> Works perfectly, all well and good there. On the other 400 more or less entries, I am having a difficult time tweaking the string concatenation to work to achieve similar results. There are 4 columns each with $points entries asking for a dimension in either feet or inches. The <input name=> is one of ptaf,ptai,ptbf,ptbi, appended programatically with the corresponding row number or data point. i.e. "ptaf1", "ptai1", etc... This is produced by the example below and works perfectly also. <?php { $points=100; $i=1; while ($i <= $points) {echo ' <tr><td align="center" width="6"><b> ' .$i . '</b></td> <td align="right" NOWRAP>A' .$i . ' (ft) <input type="text" name="ptaf'.$i.'" size=4 maxlength=3> </td> <td align="right" NOWRAP>A' .$i . ' (in) <input type="text" name="ptai'.$i.'" size=4 maxlength=4> </td> <td align="right" NOWRAP>B' .$i . ' (ft) <input type="text" name="ptbf'.$i.'" size=4 maxlength=3> </td> <td align="right" NOWRAP>B' .$i . ' (in) <input type="text" name="ptbi'.$i.'" size=4 maxlength=4> </td> '; $i++; } } ?> I am trying to add <input value=$ptai.$i> for each field but as I mentioned I am not having any luck. It seems as if I have tried every combination imagineable, but still no luck. My head is spinning! The closest I seem to have gotten was with this: <td align="right" NOWRAP>A' .$i . ' (ft) <input type="text" size=6 maxlength=3 name="ptaf'.$i.'" value="' . "$ptaf" . $i . '" ></td> But line 17 for example returns this: <input type="text" value="17" name="ptaf17" maxlength="3" size="6"> To recap, I am trying to have the value set to whatever the customer may have entered previously. Again, I would most appreciate any help anyone can give me. If you need clarification on anything please let me know. Thanks AJ Say there is a complex opt in process where people start to enter their data but certain questions stop them where they close out of the page. They already entered their data and I feel there is a way to grab it and post it to mysql even though they do not click submit.
How would this be done?
A super simple example (proof of concept) or a link to a tutorial would be very useful.
Edited by brentman, 23 September 2014 - 10:42 AM. Guys, quick one. Im writing a script for a form to post info into a MySql table. Now rather than just having a single row for input I'd like to have lets say 10 rows, so I can add 10 records to the database. What I'm pondering is 2 things: 1: can i just repeat Code: [Select] <input type="text" name="opponent" size="27" /> over and over, or is it going to need its own name each time for example; Code: [Select] <input type="text" name="opponent2" size="27" /> <input type="text" name="opponent3" size="27" /> 2: when it comes to the processing script is it more economical to have the forms input field named the same over and over (if it IS possible) and if not whats the most econimcal way to code my Code: [Select] $opp= $_POST['opponent']; $query="INSERT INTO fixtures (match_date, season, opponent) VALUES ('$date', '$season', '$opp',)"; Your help and comments are appreciated as always guys Tom I've been poking around online for about a day now trying to find a good way to do the following: I have an "order" I'm reading in from a MySQL database (not completely relevant, but just fyi). And, for this order there are a number of "parts" (automotive parts) that have been ordered. For each part there is data pertaining to the quantity of parts that have been ordered and the number of parts that have been allocated (based on our inventory) and then a third column that has the number of parts still in that order that are still to be allocated at a future date. Basically, I'm displaying this data in a form with each row having a checkbox to the far left. What I want to do is allow the user to check any number of check boxes. If a check box is checked the form should submit all of the input text boxes for that row (the user can update the quantities) that I talked about in the second paragraph for that "part" (each part is displayed in a row and has a checkbox). Unfortunately, most of the examples I found for checkboxes in a form submit a specific value (like a number of a letter). I need the form to submit the values that are in the textboxes. So basically, I'm thinking I need the page to update a PHP object whenever the value of a textbox is changed and then when the user clicks a button it will send the php object for each checked row through GET or POST. But, how would I get it to onchange update a PHP object (the PHP object would need to be a 2-D array where the first index allows you to select the part and the second index allows you to select which quantity you will change). I'm thinking I would need to call a script from the onchange like: onchange="somePHPfunction(partNumberIndex, whichQuantityI'mChanging, currentValueOfThatQuantity)" but of course that would require me to embed some php inside the onchange call since the partNumberIndex and whichQuantity are PHP variables.. Any ideas on how to do this sort of thing? Or any ideas on how to do this differently? I'm trying to avoid javascript because it would place a javascript constraint on the users. But, maybe there's no other way to do this sort of thing? Any help would be greatly appreciated! |
