PHP - Display Amazon Customer Reviews On Websites Through Aws: Allowed In The Us ?

Hi Guys,

I am wanting to include an api into my website to show amazon products, customer reviews etc.

I am new to this and am struggling to find a tutorial which helps as they are all very complex.

This is a really basic question but i am trying to understand the process of uploading to amazon S3, I dont want to just download a pre-wriiten script that i dont understand whats happen.

I am using the s3.php class

Ok so i am just doing this to figure it out, so i create a file and then upload to amazon s3 this works fine, where i am confused is when you backup all files and directories in a site, i dont want all the backup files in the root off my website i want them to automatically upload to amazon.

So how does the process work?
if i upload a file it works great but i am still upload a file form my server.

How does amazon automatically grab files from my server and upload them.

Anyone no any basic step by step tutorials i have googled loads but they are all massive pre written classes and stuff which i can get working, but looking for a basic example.

I am using a curl library to upload images to Amazon S3 using a php wrapper (http://undesigned.org.za/2007/10/22/amazon-s3-php-class).

However, becuse CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION is set to true on my server and open_basedir is enabled, this throws an error:

CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION cannot be activated when in safe_mode or an open_basedir is set
I understand that I could disable open_basedir or use one of the workarounds at http://php.net/manual/en/function.curl-setopt.php. Instead, as a quick test I set CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION = false.

The image upload to S3 still seems to work, but I am concerned that something may break down the line. Are there any implications that I should be aware of? I am not quite if CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION is it even relevant in this case?

When I used Amazon API to capture a product details using the well known code (http://www.chipdir.nl/amazon/aws_signed_request.phps), It made this error, and consequently lots of CPU usage which made my server down.

I'm running about 50 domains on a private host that's going out of business, so I need to move providers soon. The Amazon or Google cloud platforms are intriguing. Does anyone have any experience using either for website hosting?   My current solution is a Plesk management interface. So, I'm hoping to install the same wherever I go (because migrating 50 domains manually ...)

I have a registration page that mails a link to the users email.

The link in the email takes the user to the activation page which sends out a welcome email and updates the database as activated if the user is not already activated.

For some reason, this page is being accessed by an Amazon ip address with multiple browsers in the user_agent.  Whatever this is is automatically activating my users and sending them a welcome email without them even accessing the page.

The only suspect I can think of is I have a javascript snippit for google ads and also facebook on some of my pages.  I don't know if they could somehow be accessing the page or not.

It must be following the activation link in the mail() script I have on the registration page.

I'm mailing myself the following when the activation page is accessed.  I get an amazon ip, multiple browsers, and no referer.

Basically, I have a long php script to calculate the nearest branch dependant on there postcode hence why $to = $branchemail at the end. It will send it to HQ if anything goes wrong as a safeguard.

Here is a small piece of my php code:

What I can't seem to do is also send the customer filling in the php form a copy of the email sent. The variable for the customers email is $email

I have tried this and it doesn't seem to work either...

At the bottom of the script, there is this code to physically send the email. This also always sends a copy to hq aswell.

So basically I just can't get it to send a copy to the customer filling it in ($email) Any idea's because my mind has gone blank.

I built a address book for customers and i realize now im not sure the best way to allow the customer to edit/delete their addresses, but stopping them from pulling/editing other customers info.

Even if i use post data only they could still view the page source and see the address ID being posted to the next page and change it, to see or edit someone elses data...

Should i encrypt the ID? Is that even good enough?

I want some help regarding my banking project. I have a customer registration form in my project.After successfully completion of the form users have to click on the "Open Account" button.Thereafter a customer id(Auto increment value) should be generated.It was stored in the database where other form details are also being stored. How can i call to this one by one customer id's??
