PHP - Phalcon Php Saving Record Plus Uploads Multiple Files
Hi:
Am not sure if this is the best algorithm to go about saving a record and uploading (plus moving to another directory) files. I feel i need another algorithm?

I have a bunch of documents which belong to users (id, filename, users_id, etc), and expect 500 or less per user.
The documents will be renamed to the document_id, and X-Sendfile (since they are stored under the document root) will be used to retrieve them and a header will be used to return them to their original name.
Is it recommended to make a separate folder for each user and store each individual user's documents in that folder, or create one folder for all documents?
If I go with the one folder approach, I will need some method from keeping the total files per folder below some reasonable limit (1,000?). My thought is to estimate the maximum potential number of folders, and creating subfolders under the main document folder. I will likely hash the ID, and use the first character to create the first subfolder, the second character to create a second subfolder in the first subfolder, and continue as long as needed to accommodate the maximum potential documents (if there are 1,000,000 potential folders, then three levels will keep the maximum per folder under 244).
Please provide rational for one approach over the other.

Hello, Its my first day coding so please forgive me for some of the silly errors I might make.
I am writing a small upload script and I want to have some sort of orginazation by uploading images to a direcotry based on the day. The following is my code but it will fail to save the file Warning: file_put_contents(images/14-09-26/5425905a18bba.png): failed to open stream: No such file or directory This is becuase the directory with the data part is not created how should I go about first checking that this directory is there and then creating it ?

I have a product database w/ tables each for product series, model, sub-model and optionals. One item in each of these makes up one product. So Series K, Model 7, sub-model 2, optional 3 will be a product called K 7/2-3 .The permutations and combinations of these are all possible products.
In the same db, I have a quotations table. Each quotation has a unique id / record. A quotation can include any number of products : it can have K 7/2-3, KA 561/1-2 , FPN 311/2-1 or it can only have KA 561/1-2 etc.
Now I am stuck. Don't know how to
a. structure the quotations table
b. create a MySQL select so that one statement can make multiple selections . I thought of using a checkbox but that doesn't work either since the series/model/sub model/optionals must chosen sequentially.
Any ideas I can follow thru ?

Hi, I'm having a bit of a problem sharing some variables I have across a few files. My first file (index.php) calls an ajax request for (display.php) and sends a few variables to it. All fine so far. display.php then does its thing and displays the content on index.php as it should. Now in display.php I need a variable to be passed back to index.php for use in a menu. I've tried setting a session variable in display.php but unfortunately this doesn't seem to work. I also can't use get or post as I don't want to refresh the page. But I want to show a progress bar while downloading file from external server. My existing code shows progress bar but its not effective (ex. if i try to download two media file, one video and another audio, and video size is larger than audio size the audio finishes first and the progress bar shows 100% also suddenly it drops to 50% as the video is still downloading ).
