PHP - Using Ajax To Filter Php Pdo Results
Hey guys I am having a bit of a hard time understanding how I can fetch data from my SQL table using AJAX and jQuery, I am sorry if this isn't the right place to post this however I usually get great support here.
I am trying to recreate this filter on the right of the page: http://www.autotrade...arch/used/cars/
So basically I have this code to display the whole MySQL table into a list:

As you can see I am using a while loop to display the whole contents of the table into lists, this includes vehicle data.

I want the filter to work by clicking on a status text link such as open, pending or closed and it filters the results that match that on the same page for that relevant text value. I was not sure if it's more a php question or if can be done with ajax/javascript Hi, I'm currently learning PHP through tutorials and I am working on a webpage that filters statistics (crime records) from an SQL table and filters them by an option of years that the user has picked from a dropdown box. $desiredyear = $_POST['year'] is the year picked from the drop down box on a different page. I did not encounter any problems simply displaying the entire table until I tried to filter the crimes by year. I keep getting this error message. " " . $city; } ?> My script basically shows # of males or females in a specific city. How can I show all males in all cities? In other words, let's say I want to show # of Females from all those 4 cities combined. I don't know how to do that. Can someone please help me? I'm ready for the next step on my site, which is learning how to filter results down with a second search. The scenario is: A viewer searches for a plant by 4 variables to describe the leaf. After submit, they go to the results page, with 200 paginated results. (This is where I've gotten to) Now, on that same page, they choose to further narrow their results by searching those 200 results for plants that have purple flowers. Maybe they get 40 results and can use another variable to narrow further - and so on. What's the best way to set this up? I've been looking into temporary tables, but it seems to be a challenge because the table deletes the moment they leave that page or close the connection? Sessions seem like another possibility, but I read there's security issues. What's the best way to set this up? Just re-query the database with the entire set of variables from both the first and second searches? is it quicker to build some type of permanent table with a timestamp that I can use to delete it after the user has gone away? I have a page named addEntryISBN which shows the results of a user search in a div named #results. I want to post the contents of #results to my database. The contents of #results comes from a page named searchISBN.
What is the most effective way of doing this? My code so far is aas follows;

When I click on the letter of the alphabet on my form page, it will bring up the results of my query. I got this part working. The next part is to be able to click on any of the populated results and have it autofill my form with organization, first name, last name, email address and phone number.
I know that I need to use Ajax and jQuery to accomplish this.

I know that I do not have a reference yet to JSON in my php file and that it is needed. I'm not solid on the Ajax part. That is the part that is tripping me up. I know that I need to make the form autofill when clicking on a specific result returned from my query... but i'm not sure how to do that.

If I was to go to my website and after the .com, type in "api_courselist.php?page=1" I would receive the first 20 results of my query. If I was to change that to page=2, it would retrieve the next 20 and so on.
My issue is I have no idea how to implement that into my java script/ajax file. I have it set up so that when the user scrolls to the bottom of the page, a div will make its self visible with the new page populated inside of it and IT will keep on pulling pages in till There is no more content.

Right now I redirect to index page after I delete a record. However I am looking to make it so that I can delete a record without redirecting the page. I know this can be accomplised using Ajax. I have spent countless hours before trying to make it work, but it did not work.
So here is a basic setup I created. Can you please update it with ajax code so that I can see how it's done properly?

Thanks in advance. Hello, I've been trying this for hours now, looking at different examples and trying to change them to work for me, but with no luck... This is what I am trying to do: I have a simple form with: - 1 input field, where I can enter a number - 1 Submit Button When I enter a number into the field and click submit, I want that number to be send to the php file that is in the ajax call, then the script will take that number and run a bunch of queries and then return a new number. I want that new number to be used to call the php script via ajax again, until no number is returned, or something else is returned like the word "done" or something like that, at which point is simply makes an alert or populated a div with a message... The point is, that depending on the number entered it could take up to an hour to complete ALL the queries, so I want the script that is called to only run a fixed amount of queries at a time and then return the number it is currently at (+1), so that it can continue with the next number when it is called again. I would like to use jquery, but could also be any other way, as long as I get this to work. I already have the php script completed that needs to be called by the ajax, it returns a single number when being called. There is a "related items" function module available, with this module you can filter to show items from the same category OR in the same city. But now my client want's the module to show only items that are located in the same category AND the same city.
My PHP knowledge is just not good enough to solve this myself, that's why I ask for advice here. I already defined the lines of code that manage the filter, but I don't know how to make this from an "OR" filter to an "AND" filter. Can someone help me with this?
