PHP - How Does The Php Myadmin Login Prompt Work?
Does anyone know what the source code for the PHP MyAdmin login prompt (the pop out box) looks like?
Similar TutorialsI have a script that seems to work well to insert a bookmark into a users database when he/she is logged into the system but I am having a hard time figuring out how I would go about making a work-a-round for having an item selected before being logged in, and inserted after they have logged in or registered. For example, I would like a user to be able to select an Item to add to bookmark whether that user is logged in/registered or not and if they are not, they would be greeted with a login/registration form and after successful login the add bookmark script would be initiated on the item previously selected. What I've got this far: Simple form to add bookmark: <form name="bm_table" action="add_bms.php" method="post"> <input type="text" name="new_url" value="http://" /> <input type="submit" value="Add Bookmark"/> </form> Then I have the add bookmark script: BEGIN php $new_url = $_POST['new_url']; try { check_valid_user(); //cannot get past this part since it ends the script....code below if (!filled_out($_POST)) { throw new Exception('Form not completely filled out.'); } // check URL format if (strstr($new_url, 'http://') === false) { $new_url = 'http://'.$new_url; } // check URL is valid if (!(@fopen($new_url, 'r'))) { throw new Exception('Not a valid URL.'); } // try to add bm add_bm($new_url); echo 'Bookmark added.'; // get the bookmarks this user has saved if ($url_array = get_user_urls($_SESSION['valid_user'])) { display_user_urls($url_array); } } catch (Exception $e) { echo $e->getMessage(); } END php Checking valid user - the portion I cannot get past in the above script: function check_valid_user() { // see if somebody is logged in and notify them if not if (isset($_SESSION['valid_user'])) { echo "Logged in as ".$_SESSION['valid_user'].".<br />"; } else { // they are not logged in do_html_heading('Problem:'); echo 'You are not logged in.<br />'; do_html_url('login.php', 'Login'); do_html_footer(); exit; } } How would I go about modifying the script so that a user could fill in the form (later it would be a link...obviously they probably wouldn't be filling in a form that is log-in specific - but same concept I think) Thanks in advance for the help! tec4 Hi and thank you for reading my topic.
I'm building a search engine from a tutorial and I'm getting the famous "Warning: mysql_num_rows() expects parameter 1" boolean etc..
I know mysql_num_rows() is depricated and I promise not to use it in the future but for now I'm using it in other projects on the same server and all's ok.
I'm quite sure it's a problem with the SQL syntax because when I paste SELECT * FROM searchengine WHERE keywords LIKE 'any_keyword_from_the_column' -into Phpmyadmin it won't return results, however a simple SELECT * FROM searchengine returns results.
So, without using mysql_error() I get: Warning: mysql_num_rows() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in C:\xampp\htdocs\research2\search.php on line 42
But after I applyin mysql_error() to everything I narrowed it down to this: $query = mysql_query($query) or die (mysql_error());:
I get the error msg:
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'OR keywords LIKE 'search' OR keywords LIKE 'term'' at line 1
I've checked multiple times to see if I've left out any columns in the db or mismatched them in while loop.
Below I have included the code which you can paste into a file called search.php along with the mysql dump file to pase into phpmyadmin query box. I'm using xampp.
In the code the WHERE clause is extended into the if statement and concatenated into the $query variable. This is done to break the words in the text box so they can be searched as an array.
As I said, I really think it is the SQL syntax and not the mysql_* functions but I could be wrong.
I'd really like to get this code working and mess with it. It looks like it could be very useful as a private website search engine.
Thanks for your time and mental energy.

One for admin and one for other users. When a user who isn't logged in arrive to these pages I want to redirect the page to login.php. This doesn't work with the website I am working on. I use this script on the startpage: Code: [Select] <?php if(file_exists($_GET['p'].".php")){ include($_GET['p'].".php"); } else{ if(empty($_GET['p']) OR $_GET['p'] == ""){ include("main.php"); } else{ include("404.php"); } } ?> and therefore my links have this format: ?p=mapp/filnamn and it doesn't work with header('Location: /?p=admin/login'); If I skip this script and use ordinary links header('Location: /admin/login.php'); it works, but I don't want to be forced to copy the same code over and over again to get header, footer, leftbar and rightbar on every single page. I have almost teared my brain apart to find a solution but in vain. Today I have been sitting in front of the computer almost the whole day with this problem, but no luck. I don't even know what to search for. What is it I don't understand? Not long time ago I hade another problem just because I use dynamic links. This is the script I use on the page that I don't want to be accessible if you aren't logged in: Code: [Select] <?php session_start(); $username = $_SESSION['username']; include ('functions.php'); db_connect(); if(!empty($_SESSION['username'])){ $sql = mysql_query("SELECT username, usertype FROM users WHERE username='$username'"); $result = mysql_num_rows($sql); $row = mysql_fetch_array($sql); if($_SESSION['username'] = $username AND $row['usertype']==1){ $_SESSION['username'] = $username; $user_welcome = "Welcome ".$username; } else{ //header('Location: /?p=admin/login'); die("<a href='?p=admin/login'>You have to login as admin to access this page!</a>"); } } else{ //header('Location: /?p=admin/login'); die("<a href='?p=admin/login'>You have to login to access this page</a>"); } ?> I use "die" because it is the only way for me to make it work, but I want to use what is in the comments. Maybe it's not such a bad idea to use the method I use today, but the problem is that when I get the message that I have to login to view the page, the rightbar disappear and the page therefor looks stupid. Another question I am wondering about, is if the above script is secure? It doesn't feel like it, but maybe the security is all about the loginpage? Code: [Select] <?php ob_start(); session_start(); require_once ("functions.php"); $returnurl = urlencode(isset($_GET["returnurl"])?$_GET["returnurl"]:""); if($returnurl == "") $returnurl = urlencode(isset($_POST["returnurl"])?$_POST["returnurl"]:""); $do = isset($_GET["do"])?$_GET["do"]:""; $do = strtolower($do); switch($do) { case "": if (checkLoggedin()) {include("usernav.php");?> <h3>User Logged In</h3> <p>This is the members only area.</p> <?php } else {?> <a name="User Panel"></a> <h1>User Panel</h1> <h3>User Login</h3> <form name="login" action="login.php?do=login" method="POST" onsubmit="return aValidator();"> <input type="hidden" name="returnurl" value="<?$returnurl?>"> <table cellPadding=3 width=225 border=1> <tr> <td colSpan=2> <center> <p><b>Members-Only Area!</b></font></p> </center></td></tr> <tr> <td align=center width=70>Username:</td> <td><input type="text" name="username"></td></tr> <tr> <td align=center width=70>Password:</td> <td><input type="password" name="password"></font></td></tr> <tr> <td align=middle colspan=2> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Login"></td></tr> <td align=middle colSpan=2> <input type="checkbox" name="remme" value="on"> Remember me for the next time I visit</td> </form></table></td> <?php } break; case "login": $username = isset($_POST["username"])?$_POST["username"]:""; $password = isset($_POST["password"])?$_POST["password"]:""; if ($username=="" or $password=="" ) { echo "<h1>Username or password is blank</h1>";//this does not show when the input(s) are blank clearsessionscookies(); header("location: index.php?returnurl=$returnurl"); } else { if(confirmuser($username,$password)) { createsessions($username,$password); if ($returnurl<>"") header("location: $returnurl"); else { header("Location: index.php"); } } else { echo "<h1>Invalid Username and/Or password</h1>";//this message does not show when the user login invalid clearsessionscookies(); header("location: index.php?returnurl=$returnurl"); } } break; case "logout": clearsessionscookies(); header("location: index.php"); break; } ?> What maybe the case, could anyone help me with this? Thanks Ted. I am currently creating a multi-user login system, and I have created the database in MySQL, but the problem is that my PHP script is not working as expected. I would like it so that if the user enters in a correct username + password combination, then they are redirected to a webpage called "congrats.php" for example. However, with my current PHP code, if I include a redirection instruction based on the correct input, then when I run the script, then the user is instantly taken to the congrats.php page without filling in any login details. I'm quite sure that the database has been connected to, as due to the layout of my script at the moment, the text that reads "You did it!" appears 4 times, the same number of rows in my MySQL database. My PHP coding for this is: Code: [Select] <html><head><title>Multi-User Log In Form</title></head> <body> <?php $self = $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; $username = $_POST['username']; $password = $_POST['password']; ?> <form action = "<?php echo $self; ?>" method = "post"> Username <input type = "text" name = "username" size = "8"> Password <input type = "password" name = "password" size = "8"> <input type = "submit" value="Submit"> </form> <?php $conn = @mysql_connect("localhost", "root", "") or die ("Err: Conn"); $rs = @mysql_select_db("test3", $conn) or die ("Err: Db"); $sql = "select * from users"; $rs = mysql_query($sql, $conn); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($rs)) { $name = $row["uname"]; $pass = $row["pword"]; if ($username = $name && $password = $pass) { //CODE FOR REDIRECTION SHOULD GO HERE //header("location:congrats.php"); echo "You did it!"; } else { echo "Invalid username and password combination"; } } ?></body> </html> Any help in trying to get it so that my PHP script will redirect only if a correct username + password combination is entered would be greatly appreciated I'm trying to make the simplest login and this isnt working can someone explain why? thanks if ($_POST['user'] == 'admin' && $_POST['pass'] != '1234') { echo "fail"; } else { echo "win"; no matter what I do it says win I have a PHP script with no HTML in it. The script runs through and updates a bunch of fields in our Active Directory LDAP accounts. Well, I don't want it to just update every account automatically. I want it to prompt me for for each user. Ex. "Would you like to update John Doe's position to Director?" "Yes/No" I'm guessing I'll have to use Javascript for this. But I don't want to add any HTML/JS if possible. But I'm guessing this isn't possible without adding some. Thanks Mike I need to process a CSV file in database (MySql using LOAD DATA INFILE)), while the code is working fine but it works only with file that is already on my apache server (where php is installed). Is there any way (Java/Ajax or anything) that I can prompt user to select a file from any loaction they prefer including there desktop?? Thanks in advance!! I previously asked this question in the Apache Server forum with no reply so I'm thinking maybe that was the wrong area to post it in. I have a directory with media files in it (mp3's, videos etc.) that I want to secure from being downloaded yet be able to be played by a local player on the site. I was thinking of trying to secure the directory using .htaccess and .htpasswd files. I would then like to have the page the player is on pass the login credentials to allow the media files to be played. I do not want the user to be prompted for login credentials but if they tried to access the directory to download a file they would be denied. The server is (of course) Apache 2.2.17 and the scripting languages are php (version 5.2) and jQuery. Is this possible or am I going about this the wrong way? Thanks in advance. P.S. Yes, I have extensively searched for answers before posting but could not find the answer I was looking for. This bit of code actually does work, I just want to check that this is the best/proper/most efficiant way of doing it. Basically i'm calling a PHP function that uses the javascripts prompt function, then returning the value that the user types in back to PHP. Most probably easier to show you. Code: [Select] <?php //prompt function function prompt($prompt_msg){ echo("<script type='text/javascript'> var answer = prompt('".$prompt_msg."'); </script>"); $answer = "<script type='text/javascript'> document.write(answer); </script>"; return($answer); } //program $prompt_msg = "Please type your name."; $name = prompt($prompt_msg); $output_msg = "Hello there ".$name."!"; echo($output_msg); ?> That is the entire code, I just want to know if this is the proper way to do something like this (using javascript and PHP together) thanks guys! hi i need help an idea how can i separate members from admins since i dont know how to create login form i used tutorial ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oSCuEtxRK8 ) (its session login form only that i made it work other tutorials wre too old or something) how what i want to do is separate members and admins because admin need more rights to do now i have idea but dont know will it work like that what i want to do is create additional row in table named it flag and create 0 (inactive user) 1 (member) 2 (admin) will that work? and how can i create different navigation bars for users and admins? do you recommend that i use different folders to create it or just script based on session and flag? Hi, I need just quick run down on how to run a command line user interface for program for php using Windows command prompt: Let's say I have a calculator program: Code: [Select] <?php class Calculator { function factorial($num) { if($num==1) return 1; else return $num*factorial($num-1); } //other functions... }//END CLASS Calculator ?> //Test runner: Code: [Select] $calculator = new Calculator; $quit = false; while($quit != true) { echo "Please enter the number to find //how do i pass user's keyboard input to the function?? //so now pass user input to $calculator->factorial(//user input??); echo "Do you want to run program again?' //Again need to take in user input I feel it is similar to Java or C, but I just need some refresher, a little rustry, is it printf('%d', $quit) etc??? Hi guys, Can anyone assist me. I am trying to create a login for admin and user (if user not a member click register link) below is my code: But whenever I enter the value as: Username: admin Password:123 - I got an error message "That user does not exist!" What I want to create is really complicated. Well I have a login system that works with post on an external website. I have my own website, but they do not give me access to the database for security reasons, therefore I have to use their login system to verify my users. What their website does is that it has a post, with username and password. The POST website is lets say "https://www.example.com/login". If login is achieved (i.e. username and password are correct), it will redirect me to "https://www.example.com/login/success" else it will redirect me to "https://www.example.com/login/retry". So I want a PHP script that will do that post, and then according to the redirected website address it will return me TRUE for success, FALSE for not successful login. Any idea?? Thanks |
