PHP - Php Mysql Based Simple Event Calender

Hi there,

I am having a PHP form with simple combo box. Here is the code:

  <select name="select" onChange="form1.submit()">

    <option value='value2'>My Value2</option>
    <option value='value3'>My Value3</option>
  </select>
</form>

Now the form is successfully being submitted upon 'onChange' event. The only thing I am trying to do is to retain the value of the new option. As every time I select the value from the combo, it goes back and displays the 'value 1' even when I select value 3 or 2.

How do I make the combo box retain the value as 3 (when I select option 3) after the form is submitted.

When it comes to php im still no expert,

and when it comes to date/time within PHP my brain melts...

what i want is a countdown timer in php that echos how long left is on a timer.

i will set the timer for 60 minutes.

and i want it to countdown in minutes (no need to display hours, seconds etc...)

everytime the user refreshes the page the coundown will obivously refresh.

how can i code this or anyone have any handy links to point me in the right direction.

This should be pretty simple but I can't figure it out. 

 

I want to create and simple forward to different URL based on the user entry.

 

For example..

If they enter ABC in the box they go to www.11.com

if they enter ZXC in the box they go to www.22.com

if they enter CCC they go to www.33.com

If they enter anything else they get an error message.

Hi there!

My name is Andy.  I'm relatively new to PHP.  Despite this, my project (an events listings website for a live music venue) is coming along at a steady rate.  However, I have become somewhat confused by the following:

I have a MySQL table named 'events'.  The table contains the following obvious fields 'eventID', 'eventDate', 'eventArtists', 'eventDesc', 'eventEntryFee'.  It can be edited from a basic content management page.

I would like the main page of the website to pull all the information out of the database, displaying the up and coming week's events starting with today's event.  Further, I'd like a 'next' option, giving the site user the choice to scan further ahead should they choose. 

Does anybody have any ideas where I should start?

Hi All,
I have a form that enables the user to know events that occur in a specific city. Most of the time they get the results in a few seconds, despite the fact that many rows in various tables might be searched for detailed infos about the events in that city.
However, this form partly relies on a table against which a MySQL event regularly does some operations. If the user uses the form while the event is being executed, they have to wait up to 30 seconds before getting the results, and sometimes only part of the html page is generated.
Is there a way to avoid this lengthy waiting time ?
I am wondering whether or not the best would be putting the site on maintenance while the event is being executed, with a "please come back in a few minutes" message.

I used search function, could not find a subject that addressed my need.  I hope I am not repeating a well answered question.   I have two MySql fields I want to hyperlink, but not as text links, but with an image.   Here is truncated code, if more deatail is need, I can post.  Both links work fine now, but show the person's email name and google map link text - looks unproffessional and I think  the email links may be able to be harvested by spammers.   The E-mail link:   echo "<td><a href=mailto:".$row['email'] . I created a "statistics of site" page, stats.php.
Currently stats.php updates every visit, that's over 25 queries for every visit, with over 9,000 visits a day, I wish to cut down.
What is the best way to make it so all queries are done every hour, therefore requiring less queries to the database?
I assume the best way to go at this would be either to run a time() based script every 60 minutes and:

  - update this to a new field, then stats.php will require 1 query every visit, plus the 1 every hour.
or
  - update a text file and read that each stats.php visit, meaning just the 1 query every hour.

Now, I understand the second option will run much less queries overall, but is it the best way to go? Is there a better way to go about doing this?

Explode datatype and dataid intro separate strings and using them in querys.

so im trying to setup a page for my bills that i pay monthly so me and my gf can access it remotely whenever we need to. we have a few loans that we are paying off in installment loans every month so i created a table like the picture below (which is actually in excel but it looks about the same).  i know how to pull via select and sum everything that i need but what i'm actually going for is this:

every month on those certain due dates i'd like for the monthly payment to be subtracted from the balance automatically..and it show the reflected balance. i'm not sure how to go about such a thing though as i've never worked with dates and times.  my logic is that i have to setup a beginning time stamp for it to work off of..and then every 30 days from that time stamp..subtract the payment.  then again, there's not always 30 days in a month and it'd get off track.  any ideas?

Hi Guys. Hopefully someone can help me with this...New to coding and pretty lost on this.
I have a Mysql database which is displaying results to my webpage with no problems. However I would like to be able to add a combo box to my webpage that would update the mysql database results based on the combo box selection. For example if Ford is chosen from the combo box, the webpage would refresh and show all the results for Ford in the webpage. Can someone please help me?

How would I go about creating a script to check a date in mysql and if that date is within X days it will send an email alert.

I'm working on a store locator style program. I first get and sort all zip codes based on a their distance to an original location. I then use that zip code array to find all stores in the mysql database, but when I get the results, they're no longer arranged by distance from the original location.. and I can't just sort them ascending or descending based on their zip codes because that doesn't sort them correctly either.

So I need to sort the data I get from the mysql database based on their "zip_code" column and in order from the $zip array..

Here's an example of what $zip looks like.. the zip code is the key and the distance from the original zip is the value [meaning the first key is the $originalZip]:

Is there an easy way to sort the mysql results based on the $zip array?

We recently upgraded from PHP4 to PHP5 and the below script that was working perfectly in 4 has completely stopped working and I can't figure out why for the life of me. I'm not an experienced PHP programmer--I've done some forms, but this is the first time I've used a database.

What needs to (and was) happen: A user enters their username in the form and gets a readout of their participation so far that month.

The problem(s): I know that it's storing the variable 'user' because it echoes it back properly, but the database is no longer allowing me to select the row based on that variable. I know it's not that I can't connect to the database because if instead of '$user' I change the code to a username I know is in there, I get the proper readout. This all started as soon as I transferred over to PHP5--before that, no problems at all.

The database information is all correct, I just took it out for privacy's sake.
