PHP - Trying To Make Clean Urls With Mod_rewrite For Social Media Page With User Profiles, Charts & More
Hello everybody,
I am honestly quite a newb when it comes to mod_rewrite.
We run a small social media page with different areas and I would like to change the URLs to something more clean and professional.
User profiles look like this:
http://www.sky-mp3.com/index.php?action=cm&siteid=59&wahl=artists&tat=details&keyid=477siteid 59 is the artists list and the keyid at the end is the ID of the artist but should be like: http://www.sky-mp3.com/mischuraor in worse case like: http://www.sky-mp3.com/user/mischuraCMS pages look like this: http://www.sky-mp3.com/index.php?siteid=106but should be like: http://www.sky-mp3.com/charts(page name instead of siteid) What I know so far: - I have to add something to the .htaccess file - I need to change something in the code (but I don`t know where) Im good he? What would be the first step on the path to clean URLs for me? I found alot of infos here and there but found nothing yet for this specific case. Kind regards from and thx in advance from Cologne Similar Tutorials
User Authentication Help By Using If Elseif And Else Statement And Redirect Page On 3 Differnet Urls
Not sure where to start, and it may not be entirely PHP. I am helping a friend with a small social network (5,000 users). They want to add a feature where each user gets given their own email account in the format username@domain.com with domain.com being the domain of the social network. Is this too much? I've never thought of anything like this before. How would we create the email accounts? Can PHP do it? Would it be an API through the web host / email space provider? I've been using clean URLs and it's been giving my PHP sessions for my user system some trouble. I display the logged in users username on every page via a header.php file that I require on every page. Sometimes when I click a link to navigate to a page with a clean URL, the session information "disappears" and asks the user to login but if I navigate to another page from the clean url that the session "disappeared" on, the logged in users username is displayed at the top of the page like normal. Any idea certain pages cause the session to "disappear"
Header.php where the user info is displayed. $_SESSION['username'] is set on the login page <? session_start(); if (isset($_SESSION['username'])) { echo "Welcome back, " . $_SESSION['username']; } ?> Edited June 13, 2020 by Nematode128 This topic has been moved to mod_rewrite. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=357656.0 We are building a site for users to post articles on certain topics and we want to show their number of followers on various social media platforms. Apart from them having the means to add it manually, there must be a method of syncing with their account, that they punch in, so that it dynamically updates our database with their number of followers. How is it done? I'm learning to develop social media buttons, and I'm trying to figure out, how to find out the correct submit links to the social media sites? For example: Digg has their submit link like this: return "<a href='http://digg.com/submit?url=$link& title=$title&bodytext=$text'>Digg This</a>"; Digg also requires to use urlencode for the variables inside the URL. But delicious has their submit link like this: return "<a href='http://del.icio.us/post?url= $link&description=$text&replace=no'>Add to Delicious</a>"; When I go on delicious.com (under this URL: http://www.delicious.com/help/api#posts_add) I will find the link: Code: [Select] https://api.del.icio.us/v1/posts/add? Which is stated on the API page, but that link won't work. I rather have to use the link I showed earlier. So my question is, what is the proper way in figuring the correct submit links for each website and how to format them properly to their requirements, I can not find any information on the websites? So I can build social media buttons to the other sites as well. Hi, for my coursework i need to make a microblogging website, similar to that of Twitter I have created a MySQL Database, and also the login and registration forms I am able to log in as a user and also change user submitted information i.e. Name, About Me etc The problem i am having is that when i access the logged in users profile page e.g. John Doe, i can access it fine However, when i wish to access say James Smith or any other user, i am redirected back to John Doe's profile login.php Code: [Select] $query = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users WHERE username = '$user'") or die(mysql_error()); $login = mysql_fetch_array($query); if(md5($pass) == $login['password']) { $_SESSION['user'] = $login['id']; header("Location: home.php"); } home.php Code: [Select] <?php include ('includes/connect.php'); session_start(); $query = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users WHERE id = " . $_SESSION['user'] . ""); $user = mysql_fetch_assoc($query) ?> <a href="profile.php?id=<?php echo $user['id']; ?>"> Profile | </a> users.php Code: [Select] <?php include ('includes/connect.php'); session_start(); $query = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users WHERE id = " . $_SESSION['user'] . ""); $user = mysql_fetch_assoc($query) ?> <?php $members = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users"); while($allusers = mysql_fetch_assoc($members)) { echo "<table> <tr> <td> <a href=\"profile.php?id=" . $allusers['id'] . "\">" . $allusers['fullname'] . "</a> </td> </tr> </table>"; } ?> In all honesty i do know that the fault lies with the $_SESSION bit of the code since everything i do will only access the profile of the user who is logged in However i dont know how i am able to allow the logged in user to access their own profile as well as view other people's profile. Another problem is how do i follow users? I have a table called 'follow' I have two columns, user_id and follower_id, both being foreign keys However i honestly dont understand how to use PHP code to make users follow each other If anyone could assist me with any part of this i would be very grateful Thank You Below code is working fine but i need to redirect on 3 different pages and its giving me error. My table structure is as
User table
Email Password
admin@yahoo.com 123
tariq@yahoo.com 987
bilal@yahoo.com 456
if user name is like; admin@yahoo.com the page should redirect on welcome.php
if user name is like; info@aiousoft.com the page should redirect to welcome2.php
and if user doesnot exist in database then give error as ELSE "user doesnot exist"
thanks

PS I know there will be a submit button with each row right now.......I will move it out of the loop later..... About a year ago I wrote a mod_rewrite in at sites htaccess file. It was to call a page that queried the database based on a unite code that was assigned to a member. If the member was assigned a code that was FL1001, the URL www.marketingteammates.com/FL1001 would bring up a page that quaried that member and displayed their database content.
In the users table of the site, it quaried the field webPageID and the information was called. It called a page webpage.php that quaried the info. The URL in the address bar still displayed www.marketingteammates.com/FL1001. Here are the lines of code in the htaccess file.
RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^([A-Za-z])([A-Za-z])([0-9]+)$ /webpage.php?webPageID=$1$2$3 [NC,L]I now have a second page completely different from the webpage.php. It is a page storeNumber.php and would query a field storeNumberID. This field could contain any kind of string such as Store#101, or mystore101, or #101 is my store. I tried using the same rewite rule just replaceing the webpage.php and variable with storeNumber.php and $storeNumberID. This doesn't work. It also leads me to wonder if there can even be two different pages in the mod_rewrite. How would it diferentiate one from the other. Thanks for any help in advance. Mike Hi phpfreaks members, I got a little social network website, http://www.tranceprofile.com I got a php script for members to log in to my website. When they are logged in they can view there own profile and edit it. I got my login script on two places, http:www.tranceprofile.com/login.php and my index.php page. Well here is my problem: When they log in they are send to my index.php page as a logged in user. I want them to be redirected to the http://www.tranceprofile.com/profile.php page. I hope you guys can help me out! Best regards, Mitch Oosterhuis. Login script: <table width="400" align="center" cellpadding="6" style="background-color:#FFF; border:#666 1px solid;"> <form action="login.php" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data" name="signinform" id="signinform"> <tr> <td width="23%"><font size="+2">Log In</font></td> <td width="77%"><font color="#FF0000"><?php print "$errorMsg"; ?></font></td> </tr> <tr> <td><strong>Email:</strong></td> <td><input name="email" type="text" id="email" style="width:60%;" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td><strong>Password:</strong></td> <td><input name="pass" type="password" id="pass" maxlength="24" style="width:60%;"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="right"> </td> <td><input name="remember" type="checkbox" id="remember" value="yes" checked="checked" /> Remember Me</td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td><input name="myButton" type="submit" id="myButton" value="Sign In" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2">Forgot your password? <a href="forgot_pass.php">Click Here</a> <br /></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2">Need an Account? <a href="register.php">Click Here</a><br /> <br /></td> </tr> </form> </table> The urls on my localhost look like a joke and I hope someone has a solution. I use $_SERVER['QUERY_STRING'] so the first number looks okay, it's that as I go up in page number to 2,3,4,5, etc it starts to look funky. The first time before the 2 for the second page is clicked it looks normal, the second time after the 2 is clicked they look screwy and as you can guess it keeps getting longer each time a number is clicked. I know that each time I go to a new page $_SERVER['QUERY_STRING'] changes and thats the problem. Here is the code I use Code: [Select] $qstring= htmlentities($_SERVER['QUERY_STRING']); // Make links to other pages if (($pages > 1) && ($start >= 0)) { // Add space and start a paragraph echo "\n<div id=\"page_num\"><p>"; // Determine what page the script is on $current_page = ($start/$display)+1; //If its not the first page make a previous button if ($current_page !=1) { echo '<a href="subject.php?'.$qstring.'&s=' . ($start-$display) . '&p=' . $pages . '">Previous</a> '; } //Make all the numbered pages for ($i = 1; $i <=$pages; $i++) { if ($i !=$current_page) { echo '<a href="subject.php?'.$qstring.'&s=' . (($display * ($i - 1))) . '&p=' . $pages . '">' . $i . '</a>'; } else { echo $i . ''; } } //End for loop // If its not the last page make a next button if ($current_page != $pages) { // $qstring = str_replace("($start + $display)&p=$pages", "", $qstring); echo '<a href="subject.php?'.$qstring.'&s=' . ($start + $display) . '&p=' . $pages. '">Next</a>'; } echo "</p>\n</div><!-- End page numbers div -->\n"; // Close paragraph } // End of "if (($pages > 1) && ($start >= 0))" links Is there a work around to this, a different way of doing it and if or switch or something. thanks How do you have a script, after getting the page, search for and as the result, post *part* of every link that ends like... &v=ANYTHING">Link text</a> and as the result, posting just ANYTHING">Link text<BR> I'm messing with... <?php $page = $_GET['page']; $user = $_GET['user']; $doc = new DOMDocument; $doc->load('http://m.youtube.com/profile?gl=US&client=mv-google&hl=en&user=$user&view=videos&p=$page'); $items = $doc->getElementsByTagName('a'); foreach($items as $value) { echo $value->nodeValue . "\n"; $attrs = $value->attributes; echo $attrs->getNamedItem('href')->nodeValue . "\n"; }; ?> but it get's way too much stuff. Get's data from every link on the page, and posts it as Page Text /watch?gl=US&client=mv-google&hl=en&v=XXXXX And I can't get $page = $_GET['page']; $user = $_GET['user']; to get the data from the URL. Hi guys, I am trying to put together a little system that allows users to log onto my website and access there own personal page. I am creating each page myself and uploading content specific to them which cannot be viewed by anyone else. I have got the system to work up as far as: 1/ The user logs in 2/ Once logged in they are re-directed to their own page using 'theirusername.php' Thats all good and working how I need it too. The problem I have is this. If I log onto the website using USER A details - I get taken to USER A's page like I should but - If I then go to my browser and type in USERBdetails.php I can then access USER B's page. This cannot happen!! I need for USER A not to be able to access USER B profile - there is obviously no point in the login otherwise! If you are not logged in you obviously cannot access any secure page. That much is working! Please find below the code I am using: LOGIN <?php session_start(); function dbconnect() { $link = mysql_connect("localhost", "username", "password") or die ("Error: ".mysql_error()); } ?> <?php if(isset($_SESSION['loggedin'])) { header("Location:" . strtolower($username) . ".php"); if(isset($_POST['submit'])) { $username = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['username']); $password = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['password']); $mysql = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM clients WHERE username = '{$username}' AND password = '{$password}'"); if(mysql_num_rows($mysql) < 1) { die("Password or Username incorrect! Please <a href='login.php'>click here</a> to try again"); } $_SESSION['loggedin'] = "YES"; $_SESSION['username'] = $username; $_SESSION['name'] header("Location:" . strtolower($username) . ".php"); } ?> HEADER ON EACH PHP PAGE <?php session_start(); if(!isset($_SESSION['loggedin'])) { die(Access to this page is restricted without a valid username and password); ?> --------------------------------------------------- Am I right in thinking it is something to do with the "loggedin" part? The system I have here is adapted from a normal login system I have been using for years. The original just checks the details and then does a 'session start'. This one obviously has to re-direct to a user specific page. To do this I used the <<header("Location:" . strtolower($username) . ".php");>> line to redirect to a page such as "usera.php" or "userb.php" Any help would be greatly appreciated! Ta Hi all, I am looking a developing a script that instead of using something like mysite.com/showproduct.php?id=1 I would like it to appear as mysite.com/php-editor Is their a simple way of doing this? I would still need to pull info from a database so the page would still need to be dynamic, I just want it to appear static! I am used to using the get id function of php, what would the workaround be? would the id be hidden from the url but still usable in a query? I have had a look at the apache mod_rewrite, but quite frankly, I dont understand it! Cheers Ok, so I need to know how I can get these codes to interact and work to update multiple rows/columns in a database. this code is what pulls the query and displays info(it displays fine): Code: [Select] <?php if (isset($_POST['submitted'])) { include('connect1.php'); $category = $_POST['category']; $criteria = $_POST['criteria'] ; $query = ("SELECT name, badges, rank, userid FROM members WHERE $category LIKE '%".$criteria."%'"); $result = mysqli_query($dbcon, $query) or die('error getting data'); $num_rows = mysqli_num_rows($result); echo "$num_rows results found"; echo "<table width=\"896\" border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">"; echo "<tr bgcolor=\"#F7E496\"><td bgcolor=\"#F7E496\"><strong>name</strong></td><td bgcolor=\"#F7E496\" ><strong>Merit Badges</strong></td><td bgcolor=\"#F7E496\"><strong>Rank</strong></td><td bgclor=\"#F7E496\"></td></tr>"; while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result, MYSQLI_ASSOC)) {$color = ($color == 'white')?'#fffccc':'white'; echo "<tr bgcolor='$color'><td> "; echo $row['name']; echo " </td><td> <form action=\"scout.php\" method=\"post\"> <input type=\"text\" name=\"userid\" id=\"userid\" value='".$row['userid']."'> <textarea name=\"badges[]\" id=\"badges\" cols=\"40\" rows=\"3\" type=\"textarea\">".$row['badges']."</textarea></td><td> <span class=\"adfa\"> </span> <select name=\"rank[]\" id=\"rank\"> <option value=\"Scout\">Scout</option> <option value=\"Tenderfoot\">Tenderfoot</option> <option value=\"Second Class Scout\">Second Class Scout</option> <option value=\"First Class Scout\">First Class Scout</option> <option value=\"Star Scout\">Star Scout</option> <option value=\"Life Scout\">Life Scout</option> <option value=\"Eagle Scout\">Eagle Scout</option> <option value=\"\" selected=\"selected\">".$row['rank']."</option> </td><td>"; } echo "</td></tr>"; echo "</table>"; echo "<input type=\"submit\" name='submit[]' id=\"submit\" value=\"Save\" /> </form>"; } ?> and this code is what is supposed to update the database: Code: [Select] if ($_POST[submit]){ foreach ($_POST[rank] as $key => $value) { $badges = $_POST['email1'][$key]; $userid1 = $_POST['userid'][$key]; $q = "UPDATE members SET badges='$badges', rank='$rank' where userid='$userid1'"; $sql = mysql_query($q) or die("Problem with the query: $q<br>" . mysql_error()); printf("Records updated: %d\n", mysql_affected_rows());} exit(); } // close if post again, I am really new to arrays and don't know If i am using them right here......... When I process the update it gives me a success message but the data in the table is not updated at all. Any suggestions on what im doing wrong here? I have a paypal shopping cart form. Right now the form submits to paypals normal site and works fine. But the problem is the user can use firebug and change the price before sending to paypal. So i want the form to submit to my php script, where ill whatever is in the session, not what was posted, create an NVP string from that post, then POST that to paypal. I thought i could do this with cURL, but cURL always responds, it never actually takes the user to paypal with post. Is there a way to mimic what a form submit does completely in PHP? Hey, guys. I'm a programmer and i've designed an application to assist in an online game. When users visit my website for whatever reason i want to display the amount of users currently using my application. As you may have guessed i'm not to crash hot at php or any web related languages at that . What i think will work, is when my application starts up, i can make it visit a webpage in the background and just idle there while they are using the program, when they close the program obviously it is no longer viewing that webpage. So if there some sort of php counter i can make for this? I was reading some sources to php counters and they count the amount of "sessions" and display that, i was just curious if my program navigates to a webpage upon opening and it doesn't do anything will this 'time it out'? Anyway, any help is appreciated. Thanks. Hi guys, I've got a snippet of code that's supposed to make a new directory with the user's unique ID (member_id) in the database. I have the code here but I get a myriad of errors including the infamous "at line 1 error, and the directory does not create. Please help me!! //Create Directory $queryString2 = $_SERVER['QUERY_STRING']; $query2 = "SELECT member_id FROM members WHERE $queryString2 = $row[activation]"; $result2 = mysql_query($query2) or die(mysql_error()); mkdir("/home/gafferzo/www/members/clubs/" . mysql_result($result2,0), 0777); |
