Similar TutorialsSorry if I asked this before in some variant, but I had to put my OOP studies aside for a few weeks, so here I go again?! I am trying to learn OOP and would like to take the data submitted in a form and put it into an object so I can pass that to other objects and do stuff with said data in OOP terms. My *limited* understanding of things so far is this... If I have form "registration.php", when the user clicks 'Submit' then data from the form gets populated immediately in the $_POST array and control would go to the action page... I would like to take - password - name into a generic object called FormHandler. (Maybe this isn't how the OOP gurus would do it, but hmor me as I am trying to learn elementary OOP, and use something that works for me.) So how would I go about doing that? All I can think is to have an action page called "form_handler.php" and when the user submits the form in "registration.php" then "form_handler.php" would instantiate FormHandler which would assign the $_POST array into either its own array or into individual variables. Maybe something like... class FormHandler{ private $someArray(); // OR private $email; private $password; private $name; function __construct() { $this->someArray = $_POST(); // OR $this->email = $_POST['email']; $this->password = $_POST['password']; $this->name = $_POST['name']; } } Feel free to tell me what you think of my code and idea, and please be nice because I have never written any OOP before and it is hard to break my old procedural ways! TomTees splobjectstorage.attach shows how to add an object inside the storage and associate it to some data. How should one replace the data associated to an object already in storage? All of the following solutions seem to work, however, I would like confirmation as I couldn't find and specific direction in the documentation. Assuming that detaching shown in my options 3 and 4 is not required, right? Probably option 2? Or, would it be best not to replace the data in storage, but add a shell object to the storage and update the data property? Use case is the object is a stream and the data is a specific type of client which can change over time. <?php class dataA{} class dataB{} class dataC{} class dataD{} class dataE{} class obj{} $storage = new SplObjectStorage(); $obj=new obj; $storage->attach($obj, new dataA); $data = $storage[$obj]; var_dump($data); //Option 1 $storage->attach($obj, new dataB); $data = $storage[$obj]; var_dump($data); //Option 2 $storage->offsetSet($obj, new dataC); $data = $storage[$obj]; var_dump($data); //Option 3 $storage->detach($obj); $storage->attach($obj, new dataD); $data = $storage[$obj]; var_dump($data); //Option 4 $storage->detach($obj); $storage->offsetSet($obj, new dataE); $data = $storage[$obj]; var_dump($data); object(dataA)#3 (0) { } object(dataB)#4 (0) { } object(dataC)#3 (0) { } object(dataD)#4 (0) { } object(dataE)#3 (0) { } Edited May 21, 2019 by NotionCommotion Added thought about not changing Hey guys.

I am making a UCP to go along side a game server. The game server adds a mysql row when a account is created and places the password under Whirlpool encryption.
I am looking for someone who can help me make a basic login page that needs to enter a user name and password, with the password then encrypting to Whirlpool or whatever needs to be done for the login to be a success.
I am a total new guy to HTML / PHP scripting and looking to do this as a learning project.
Hey all, I want to have an object that has a property which is an object containing instances of other objects. I try this: Code: [Select] class Blog extends Posts { public $has_posts; public function __construct($a,$b,$c){ $has_posts = (object) array_merge((array) $a, (array) $b, (array) $c); } } class Posts { public $b; public function __construct($b){ $this->b = $b; } } $post1 = new Posts(1); $post2 = new Posts(2); $post3 = new Posts(3); $blog = new Blog($post1,$post2,$post3); var_dump($blog->has_posts); //null foreach($blog->has_posts as $post){ //Invalid argument supplied for foreach() echo $post->b; } But as you see, has_posts is null, not an object containing other objects. Thanks for response. well i have a problem... i have a website running and anyone can get to the admin control panel login page by going to "mywebsite.com/admin" how can i hide this or change it so that they cant get to it unless they know it...? problem 2... when u visit my website... its shows in the url the path of the file for example... "mywebsite.com/register.php" when on the register page or like "mywebsite.com/sells.php" if on the sells page... how can i hide it so that only my website name is showing and not the path of the file? I was thinking about this idea of locating all menus/submenus to the left hand side of the page and use an iframe to load info from any admin script files. This way the admin can access everything without having to be directed to a different url. I believe this is what Vbulletin has been doing for its ACP(they may have used javascript though), and I have a few questions to ask: 1. Is this a feasible idea, especially if I choose not to use javascript? 2. Is it safe to design admin control panel this way for a PHP script? If not, please lemme know possible security issues? 3. Is it possible to restrict direct access to other admin type script files, but allow access if they are loaded in iframe? Please do lemme know, thanks. I have a Soup object in a Bowl object in a Microwave object. The Microwave object has the methods: receiveItem(Bowl $b) cookItem(???) I want the Microwave to be able to set the Soup->temperature but I'm not how to do that? Make sense? TomTees I created a tabase with two tables. 1) Customers 2) Software My customers form adds data to the customers table, but on my form I want to assign one or more pieces of software to that particular customer. How do I link up the tables to work that way? My customers table has a unique id. Im using dreamweaver and php my admin Thanks in advance This topic has been moved to Editor Help (Dreamweaver, Zend, etc). http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=343605.0 im finding it hard to link PHP, MySQL and dreamweaver together. when php document is alaunched within the localhost all the data in the database is present how ever when the php coding is entered into the html file via dreamweaver no data is present which i think connection to the mysql database cannot be establish why is this can someone help me please, the php document is attached with all the coding [attachment deleted by admin] My learning curve to this point in using php with MySql databases is automatically generated code within Dreamweaver. However, I am sure that it is adding a lot more code than I actually need and I sometimes have 5 or more queries all on one page that are just all the same except that each one has a different ID to reference. Presumably the best way to do this would be with one query with grouping but as that is still on my list of things to understand I am hoping to tidy things up myself first. For example, two of the queries that I have on one page (http://www.margate-fc.com/content/1st_team/squad.php) are Code: [Select] <?php if (!function_exists("GetSQLValueString")) { function GetSQLValueString($theValue, $theType, $theDefinedValue = "", $theNotDefinedValue = "") { if (PHP_VERSION < 6) { $theValue = get_magic_quotes_gpc() ? stripslashes($theValue) : $theValue; } $theValue = function_exists("mysql_real_escape_string") ? mysql_real_escape_string($theValue) : mysql_escape_string($theValue); switch ($theType) { case "text": $theValue = ($theValue != "") ? "'" . $theValue . "'" : "NULL"; break; case "long": case "int": $theValue = ($theValue != "") ? intval($theValue) : "NULL"; break; case "double": $theValue = ($theValue != "") ? doubleval($theValue) : "NULL"; break; case "date": $theValue = ($theValue != "") ? "'" . $theValue . "'" : "NULL"; break; case "defined": $theValue = ($theValue != "") ? $theDefinedValue : $theNotDefinedValue; break; } return $theValue; } } $currentPage = $_SERVER["PHP_SELF"]; $maxRows_Midfielders = 100; $pageNum_Midfielders = 0; if (isset($_GET['pageNum_Midfielders'])) { $pageNum_Midfielders = $_GET['pageNum_Midfielders']; } $startRow_Midfielders = $pageNum_Midfielders * $maxRows_Midfielders; mysql_select_db($database_Test, $Test);$query_Midfielders = "SELECT * FROM player_season, players, player_positions WHERE player_season.season = '104' AND player_season.player = players.player_id AND player_positions.player_position_id = players.position AND players.position = '3' ORDER BY surname ASC"; $query_limit_Midfielders = sprintf("%s LIMIT %d, %d", $query_Midfielders, $startRow_Midfielders, $maxRows_Midfielders); $Midfielders = mysql_query($query_limit_Midfielders, $Test) or die(mysql_error()); $row_Midfielders = mysql_fetch_assoc($Midfielders); if (isset($_GET['totalRows_Midfielders'])) { $totalRows_Midfielders = $_GET['totalRows_Midfielders']; } else { $all_Midfielders = mysql_query($query_Midfielders); $totalRows_Midfielders = mysql_num_rows($all_Midfielders); } $totalPages_Midfielders = ceil($totalRows_Midfielders/$maxRows_Midfielders)-1; $queryString_Midfielders = ""; if (!empty($_SERVER['QUERY_STRING'])) { $params = explode("&", $_SERVER['QUERY_STRING']); $newParams = array(); foreach ($params as $param) { if (stristr($param, "pageNum_Midfielders") == false && stristr($param, "totalRows_Midfielders") == false) { array_push($newParams, $param); } } if (count($newParams) != 0) { $queryString_Midfielders = "&" . htmlentities(implode("&", $newParams)); } } $queryString_Midfielders = sprintf("&totalRows_Midfielders=%d%s", $totalRows_Midfielders, $queryString_Midfielders); header('Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1', true); ?> and Code: [Select] <?php if (!function_exists("GetSQLValueString")) { function GetSQLValueString($theValue, $theType, $theDefinedValue = "", $theNotDefinedValue = "") { if (PHP_VERSION < 6) { $theValue = get_magic_quotes_gpc() ? stripslashes($theValue) : $theValue; } $theValue = function_exists("mysql_real_escape_string") ? mysql_real_escape_string($theValue) : mysql_escape_string($theValue); switch ($theType) { case "text": $theValue = ($theValue != "") ? Would it work to have all of it between one set of PHP tags with the duplicated code there just once? If so would it simply mean copying everything below '$currentPage = $_SERVER["PHP_SELF"];' in the second query and pasting it just before the '?>' in the first. Also, if anyone is an expert with grouping, I would be more than open to suggestions about setting the page up that way. My head says that it would need a repeat region inside a repeat region to get the data separated the way I want it but my head doesn't often make sense! Thanks in advance Steve Im using dreamweaver, and I have a simple list menu that is linked to a dynamic source in my database. I cannot figure out how to create an action when they select something from the list menu. I suppose that it would have to be passed through the browser somehow. Im not very code fluent, but I try. If you know to accomplish this using dreamweaver cs4 or hard coding, I would appreciate it. I want this: When you click on an item it will bring up all the data pertaining to that particular record. My code: Code: [Select] <form id="form1" name="form1" method="post" action=""> <label for="customerlist">Select your customers</label> <p><label for="customers"></label> <select name="customers" id="customers"> <option value="None">None</option> <?php do { ?> <option value="<?php echo $row_Customers['name']?>"><?php echo $row_Customers['name']?></option> <?php } while ($row_Customers = mysql_fetch_assoc($Customers)); $rows = mysql_num_rows($Customers); if($rows > 0) { mysql_data_seek($Customers, 0); $row_Customers = mysql_fetch_assoc($Customers); } ?> </select> <input type="submit" name="Go" id="Go" value="Go" /> I am building a website that allows a client to email me documents (DocX, PDF, TXT,ZIP, etc) along with a simple HTML based form. I used DreamWeaver to create the form and the upload area. I figured out how to script the PHP code to send the text fields to my email address (and validate them), but I can't figure out how to get the attachments to send. I am BRAND NEW to PHP and just trying to figure all thing out. Any help would be appreciated. I have attached two .txt files to this post. One is the HTML code for the forum and one is the actual PHP code I am using to send the form to my email. Thanks for your help! [attachment deleted by admin] Hi Everyone

I tried the following into a file called writepost.php : <?php $text=(isset($_GET['message']))?$_GET['message']:''; $formatted_text=nl2br(stripslashes(htmlspecialchars($text))); echo '<form method="post" action="proceedtopost.php?>'. '<table>'. '<td style width="50%"><tr>'. '<fieldset> Write your post here : <br> <textarea cols="50" rows="12" '. 'id="message" name="message">'.$text.'</textarea>'. '</fieldset> <p> '. '<fieldset> Your post will appear as follows :<br><p> '. $formatted_text. '</fieldset>'. '</td></tr>'. '</table>'. '</form>';There are several things wrong with this code : 1) When the user hits the "Preview" button, I expect writepost.php to be reloaded (this is what happens), and the current content of the textarea to be stored in $_GET['message'] (this is not what happens). 2) Why does my browser output the preview part under the text area (or in other words outputs the HTML table as a single column of two cells), when I insist in my HTML code for the table to be displayed as a single row ? |
