PHP - Official Removal Version For Mysql_* Functions?
Hey all.
Obviously, the mysql_* functions are deprecated and have been for quite some time now, and will be removed soon. As of 5.5, using them should result in an E_DEPRECATED error, so it looks like we're getting closer to that happening. My question is - has anybody read or heard a reliable statement as to which future version will officially remove even legacy support for the functions? Like 5.x, 7.0, etc?
A Google search isn't returning anything official so far as I can see, and I was curious.
Similar TutorialsI am curious if it is true that mysql_ extension is being depreciated in the next upcoming versions of php? Has anyone heard about if that is actually going to happen? Hey y'all. Hopefully quick question on something I've not come across before.
I am doing a quick and dirty update on an existing site that is using the mysql_* functions to use PDO, and I'm wondering how much of a corollary there is between the mysq_real_escape_string() function and PDO::quote() method. We had a sanitization method that returned the submitted string after running mysql_real_escape_string() on it, and I've updated it to return the string after passing it through quote(). What I'm noticing in phpMyAdmin, though, is that new records inserted using the quote() sanitize don't encode quotes or add slashes or evidence any of the things that apparently mysql_real_escape_string() used to do (I always used a different scrub method in the past so I'm really not familiar with how it works under the hood).
Is using quote() going to offer an equivalent level of protection against injection?
Hopefully I'll get the go-ahead to take the time and revamp all the queries to use prepared statements, but right now that's not in the cards. At least the old site did abstract database interaction so I'm not chasing mysql_* functions all over the site...
Any opinions and thoughts are very much welcome and thanks in advance!
Hi all, But of a PHP newbie so treat me nice but this one is driving me nuts I have the exact same login.php file running on two different servers and they have slightly different versions of PHP installed as follows: 1. PHP Version 5.0.4 - version http://www.trafficpaymaster.com/tpm/phpversion.php 2. PHP Version 5.2.15 - version http://www.dentistsinflorida.org/tpm/phpversion.php The login works fine on the first server from he http://www.trafficpaymaster.com/tpm/login.php Email: test@test.com Pwd: test But try it on the second server he http://www.dentistsinflorida.org/tpm/login.php Using the same email and password (which is correct) it just loops round not letting the user into the main script at index.php Question: Why? What have I got wrong for that later version of PHP? Many thanks guys. Hi Yes I start a new thread, this is probably the correct one. hello, i'm creating a blockular system for my project and ran into a problem, i don't need to go much in depth since this is a simple issue. i have an array with a value: <?php ['file'] = 'articles.blocks.php' ?>i need to get just articles, .blocks.php is not global so i cannot use preg_replace or str_replace, i need to get rid of the first period, the first word, second period, and extension removed, so basically i need to find the module name, .var.php is not necessary. I am not sure how to go about this, any suggestions? I've created a script to remove duplicate emails and it works perfectly up to about 20k. After that it just stops with no error code. I'm baffled. I've increased the max_execution_time to 2 hours even though this script just takes a few minutes. <?PHP function validElement($element) { return strlen($element) > 1; } function in_iarray($str, $a){ foreach($a as $v){ if(strcasecmp($str, $v)==0){return true;} } return false; } remove_duplicates(); } //Remove more duplicates from list function array_iunique($a){ $n = array(); foreach($a as $k=>$v){ if(!in_iarray($v, $n)){ echo $v; $n[$k]=$v;} } return $n; } //Remove duplicates from list function remove_duplicates() { $p = 0; while ($p != 1) { $rawemaillist = array_values(array_filter($rawemaillist, "validElement")); $p = 1; } $initial = count($rawemaillist); $k = 0; while ($k != 1) { $rawemaillist = array_iunique($rawemaillist); $k = 1; } ?> The script works fine - but only up to around 20 k - which leads me to believe its a server setting issue. Is there something in the php.ini file I should or otherwise a setting that I should be looking at to change??? First and foremost I am PHP newbie so excuse the dumb question but I have been struggling with this one for hours and can not find the solution. Can someone show me how I would rewite the following wordpress code for meta tags so that it automatically strips out the character ' from the "single" page titles? Example I want this title: "My Cat's Black" to be "My Cats Black" This is the line I am trying to edit..... Code: [Select] elseif ( is_single() ) { wp_title(''); print ' | '; bloginfo('name'); } here is the full piece of code... Code: [Select] <title><?php if ( is_home() ) { bloginfo('name'); print ' | '; bloginfo('description'); } elseif ( is_search() ) { bloginfo('name'); print ' | '; _e('Search Results', 'woothemes'); } elseif ( is_author() ) { bloginfo('name'); print ' | '; _e('Author Archives', 'woothemes'); } elseif ( is_single() ) { wp_title(''); print ' | '; bloginfo('name'); } elseif ( is_page() ) { bloginfo('name'); print ' | '; bloginfo('description'); } elseif ( is_category() ) { single_cat_title(); print ' | '; bloginfo('name'); } elseif ( is_month() ) { _e('Archive', 'woothemes'); print ' | '; the_time('F'); bloginfo('name'); } elseif (function_exists('is_tag')) { if ( is_tag() ) { bloginfo('name'); print ' | '; _e('Tag Archive', 'woothemes'); print ' | '; single_tag_title("", true); } } ?></title> Any help would be greatly appreciated!! I want to get image background removal with core php like(remove.bg website without using any API)
i want to do it with code any guidance how can i do this with programmatically in php. I have a script I am putting together that simulate a cricket game. The only issue is, that there are a huge number of functions because there doesn't seem to be any other way to do this properly. As well as this, there a while() loop and all this seems to be leading to the page reaching a max 30 second timeout when generating the result. My code is attached below, it is quite messy at the moment because i've just be working on it, but I was wondering if anyone has any solutions of how I can speed this up or change to prevent a timeout: <?php // Error reporting error_reporting(E_ALL); // Connect DB mysql_connect("wickettowicket.adminfuel.com", "rockinaway", "preetha6488") or die(mysql_error()); // Select DB mysql_select_db("wickettowicket") or die(mysql_error()); // MySQL queries to find batsmen and bowlers $array_batsmen = mysql_query('SELECT id, name, ability, strength FROM wtw_players WHERE team_id = 1 ORDER BY id ASC'); is it possible to install php version 5.2.3 on windows server 2012R2 ?
will it work ? are they any security issues ?
Best regards,

I teaching myself php, but I am coming from java and other compiled languages, so the process has been a little bumpy. I am trying to do something like this: Code: [Select] class my_class { function one () { $two = two (); $three = three (); $five = $two + $three; return $five; } function two () { $two = 2; return $two; } function three () { $three = 3; return $three; } } Unfortunately, I keep getting an error message saying that my call to two () is an undefined function. I am gathering from this that the scope of one () is not aware of the existence of two (). Is there a way to get around this so I can call two () and three () from one ()? This may sound like a really stupid question, but this is really bugging me.
If i code something in PHP 5.5.11 and upload it to a server that is running PHP 5.4, would the code work correctly? I didnt think there was a super amount of difference between the two versions. Perhaps im wrong.
The reason i asked is because someone has given me a project to help them with. Im running php 5.5.11. I coded it, tested in in xampp, working great. I upload it to his website, which he told me is currently running 5.4 (i tried phpinfo() but they have disabled it) and a majority of the functions i coded are no longer working. Things are not writing to the database, things collected from the database either dont show up on the website or they only show up when something gets posted after it, in which case the something posted after it doesnt show e.c.t.
Is the difference that much it can break code?
Thanks!
I have a part of my code that requires php 5.3+ how can I test to see if the user has 5.3 or greater? At first I thought this would be a good idea, but then I realized that it isn't such as a version: 5.2.10 (not sure if that is an actual version or not). if((int)preg_replace("/\./", "", phpversion()) >= 530){ // Allow functionality } using my code, using 5.2.10 it would allow it, but it shouldn't because it isn't larger than 5.3. what can I do? "I'm also running a forked version of php, that has many custom additions and modifications that I added to it, which helps keep everything running as fast as it does" what does saying u have a "forked" version of php and makes your site run super fast, wats this mean? What exactly can u edit in your php config to make it faster? I thought only php accelerators do that? lol After being forced to have the server upgraded I am having problems with my 'reset password' pages. What I wondered is, has there been any changes to PHP or MySQL between these versions ? The PHP version was 5.2.9 and is now 5.2.14 The MySQL version was Client API version 5.0.45 and is now Client API version 5.0.90 Some one clicks a link like this. www.site.com/resetpw.php?pwr=a1b2c3d4e5f6 the code would be a 32 char hash that is checked against the database, but my code now (which was never changed before or after the server change) seems to find the database line and update it but show the message that it was invalid ? instead of showing the the message, your password will be sent to you after changing the DB does anyone have any ideas ? Code: [Select] <?php include('includes/connection.php'); include('includes/functions.php'); date_default_timezone_set('Europe/London'); if(isset($_POST['reset']) && trim($_POST['reset']) == 'Reset') { $email = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['email']); $checkVerify = mysql_query("SELECT account_id FROM customers WHERE email='$email' AND verified='No' LIMIT 1"); $checkBanned = mysql_query("SELECT account_id FROM customers WHERE email='$email' AND suspended='Yes' LIMIT 1"); if(!$email) { $thisError = 'Please enter your e-mail address.'; } else if(!$password) { $thisError = 'Please enter your password.'; } else if(mysql_num_rows($checkVerify)) { $thisError = 'Your account has not been approved by an Admin.'; } else if(mysql_num_rows($checkBanned)) { $thisError = 'Your account has been suspended by an Admin.'; } else { $password = md5($password); $checkAccount = mysql_query("SELECT account_id FROM customers WHERE email='$email' AND password='$password' LIMIT 1"); if(mysql_num_rows($checkAccount)) { $_SESSION['FM_user'] = $email; header('Location: members.php'); exit; } else { $thisError = 'Your e-mail address and/or password is incorrect.'; } } } include('includes/header.php'); ?> <body> <div class="headerBar"> <?php include('includes/navigation.php');?> </div> <?php headerText(); ?> <div class="content"> <div class="widthLimiter contentStyle"> <div class="formWrapper"> <?php if(isset($thisError)) { echo '<div class="errorDiv">',$thisError,'</div>'; } ?> <?php if(isset($thisSuccess)) { echo '<div class="successDiv">',$thisSuccess,'</div>'; } ?> <span class="subHeader">Initiate Password Reset</span> <?php // include("sendmail2010.php"); $securitycode = ($_GET['pwr']); //echo("53:security:".$securitycode.":<br>"); if ($securitycode != "") { $sql = "SELECT * FROM `customers` WHERE `changeofpasswordcode` = '".mysql_real_escape_string($securitycode)."' Hey everyone! I'm an absolute beginner with PHP but in my struggle with a project, I keep seeing 'PHP' so here I am, asking for help from the experts. I have a client who wants a basic 'mobile version' of their website to be displayed automatically when people view it on a mobile device (iPhone, Android especially). I've tried a couple of JavaScript solutions but, for some reason, they wouldn't work on Android (despite the author of the code specifying that it 'should do'). This has led me to look into a server-side solution. If the user visits the site, e.g. www.mysite.com on a mobile device, I want it to redirect to the subdomain m.mysite.com (I could even use www.mysite.com/mobile). On this 'mobile version' there should be a link to view the full site (and vice versa). Does anyone know of any tried and tested methods to achieve this? I'm literally pulling my hair out now with this. Thank you so much in advance. Have a great day. Regards Darryl |
