So is there a way to tell mod_rewrite to add the following string (below) to the beginning of the URL ONLY IF the webpage is in the directory "spanish"? String I'm trying to add to beginning of URL http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=en&tl=es&u= So say the url was: www.optimumhealthcare.org/spanish/page.html I would want it to change that URL to: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=en&tl=es&u=www.optimumhealthcare.org/spanish/page.html Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks I am trying to handle 404 errors to mainly pdf files that used to reside in a different directory but have now moved permanantly to a new directory. I have tired many variations for the rewrite and none have worked or even given me errors to make me think I am kind on the right track.
This is the line I have tried using

Any insight is appreciated! Hello. I've set up pagination for my results. I do this with a class. I also have pretty urls with mod_rewrite. I'm wondering how to echo the urls for the paginated data. Currently I have this below for the links. this is in my page.class.php file. I call for it with an include. $links .= ' ' . $prefix . '<a href="' . $this->php_self . '?' . $this->append . '&page=' . $i . '">' . $i . '</a>' . $suffix . ' '; This echos out a link like this which is in my tag page. /index.php?menu=tags&tag=action&page=2 My mod_rewrite works and looks like this /tags/action/page/2 Question is.. How do I change the url in my first code to work with my mod_rewrite? I'm using this class through my whole site so I don't want to just add /tags/ to the first code.. Any ideas? Hey guys. I currently have my website set up 'generating' php pages, rather than simply getting data off the database. Which is silly. I have no rectified that issue but end up with ugly urls such as http://www.worldwidelighthouses.com/Lighthouses/English-Lighthouses/Trinity-House-Owned/Lighthouse.php?Lighthouses=Beachy-Head Whats the best way to translate that into http://www.worldwidelighthouses.com/Lighthouses/English-Lighthouses/Trinity-House-Owned/Beachy-Head Im hopeless with apaches mod_rewrite... Many many thanks in advance. Danny This topic has been moved to mod_rewrite. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=309061.0 A few questions about mod_rewrites... 1.) If I want to determine if the URL ends with either "list" or "gallery", and then take appropriate action, does the code below look correct?
RewriteRule shop/(.+)/([list|gallery])$ shop/catalog.php?category=$1&view=2 [L]
2.) Is it bad to use mod_rewrites to determine how your website branches? For example...
RewriteRule shop/music/(.*)$ go somewhere [L] RewriteRule shop/movies/(.*)$ go somewhere else [L] RewriteRule shop/books/(.*)$ go yet somewhere else [L]

RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on RewriteRule (.*) https://%{SERVER_NAME}/$1 [R,L] RewriteRule ^shorter/(.*)$ shorter.php?longurl=$1 [L] RewriteRule ^([0-9a-zA-Z]{1,6})$ redirect.php?url=$1 [L] RewriteRule (.*)playlist.xml$ playlist.php [L] # Playlist RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ /index.php?page=$1 [L] RewriteRule ^(.*)/(.*)/$ /index.php?page=$1&id=$2 [L] RewriteRule ^(.*)/(.*)/(.*)/$ /index.php?page=$1&id=$2&no=$3 [L] RewriteRule ^(.*)/(.*)/(.*)/(.*)/$ /index.php?page=$1&id=$2&no=$3&trkid=$4 [L] RewriteRule ^(.*)/(.*)/(.*)/$ /index.php?page=my_profile&code=$2&state=$3 [L]In this site redirects properly to https but it do not work with permalinks http://www.domain.com/music/ << was working fine https://www.domain.com/music/ << Now stopped I Tried RewriteRule (.*)playlist.xml$ https://%{SERVER_NAME}/playlist.php [L] # Playlist #AND Optionally RewriteRule (.*)playlist.xml$ https://www.domain.com/playlist.php [L] # PlaylistBut no success Please help I have recently discovered the mod_rewrite, and so now i've got rewrite settings on my server where by it will not map /series/english/myseries to index.php?q=english&series=myseries; Which is all very well and good and works nicely. However, When I am trying to load say a Javascript file inside Index.php now, or include a PHP file, I have huge problems, because it is trying to look at my 'relative' path of 'js/jquery.js' and cant find it from the pseudo directory 'series/english/myseries'. What is the best way to compensate for this problem? For the PHP includes i've started using $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT']; which seems to map files okay. But i can't do the same with JS.
