PHP - Need Help Creating A Simple Video File Server
Hi. I am trying to create a simple video file server. I finished the skeleton of it but when it came to creating the multitude of pages I realized that there could be an easier way to do it.
I started out basically getting the folder names in the server then printing them on the page.

Then I created in each of the folders with files a php file with this code:

This opens up a php file with the same file name as the file to be played containing the episode's thumbnail and description. That file then contains a link pointing back to the real file. The problem here is that I'd have to make a new php file for every file in my collection. I'm wondering if there's somehow a way to simplify all of this.

I have a PHP web system that store in a windows server. In the system, there is a function for user to upload files to another server (Shared server in Unix). When i try to upload a file, it gives warning: Warning: move_uploaded_file(\\unixserver/sharedfolder/upload/test.txt) [function.move-uploaded-file]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in C:\wamp\www\upload\index.php on line 40 For your information, my username has been assigned in xxx's group that has access to read and write on that folder. How can I make gif from video while uploading it or after uploaded? Is there any tutorial.. I've been searched but didn't found anything.
The reason I want this is because when I upload video then I will show few thumbnails of the video on the page. Then when user hover the video will play short gif from the video 2-5 seconds and when the user click on video will play the video.. Hope you get what I mean.. I don't know how to explain it better. Just point me somewhere to read or watch about this..

I am wanting to move a couple of files from my current server to another. If i am uploading the file this is fine but if it is already on the server then im not sure how to move it. When uploading I can just use ftp_put($conn_id, $destination_file, $myFile, FTP_BINARY); What i need to do is figure out how to get a hold of the file and store it in $myFile then this would work fine. Cheers I have written a piece of code that create a directories, files on the server using mkdir and touch and also inserts the form data into the table.. the code gets executed and the info gets stored in the database but the part which has the create directories. and files dont work as it doesnt create the directory and files on the server.. do i need to make changes to the php.ini file to enable the mkdir and touch feature to get enabled? as i said the code executes without any error.. I googled about this and found different methods of creating word documents via php. The most promising one that I found involves writing HTML code and inside header, save it as a *.doc file (I know thats not exactly a Word File but what else can be done). Now, I guess you all know what my question would be, and that is, is there a way we could somehow make this work. I have a database, in postgres, in which I make my query and I go fetch all the info I need. What I need to do next is the tricky part for me. For each line of results received, I have to output to a text file (.txt) but I have to respect a format that was given to me from the person requesting the info. Example: Character 1 must be G or N. Character 2 to to 11 will be a result from my database search, which is a 10 digit string. Character 12 to 14 must be spaces. Another rule is: start at character 78: input a value from my database search but it must not exceed 20 characters and if it is less then 20 character, fill the remaining with spaces. I have the forms linking to a file called process.php. Basically i need to know what code to put in the php file in order for the forms to save whatever is entered in them to a txt file on my server or computer. I am a basic web developer for a company that I work for in other capacities. I have a reasonable understanding of HTML and that is about where my expertise ends. I am not typically a programmer, just a simple (extremely) part time designer that uses Muse and Dreamweaver when necessary.
However, recently my company has asked me to accomplish a task for their website. In plain English, they want a large database that exists currently as a CVS file made into a searchable web page. It is 21 columns by approximately 6,700 rows.
To explain what I need a little more technically, here are my ideas and where I have gotten to so far:
1. The company uses godaddy, into which I *believe* I have successfully imported the spreadsheet. I believe it is successful because through godaddy's SQL Control Panel (phpMyAdmin console), I can do the EXACT searches that the company needs, and it spits out the EXACT results that I need.
2. The end result needs to be a .php that I can upload to the website's root folder that can be then inserted into premade pages using:

On the .php page, I need to have a way to log in to the SQL server and a simple search box built in that will allow the user to input a very simple search string consisting of no more than 4 numbers and 3 letters at a time. No buttons, no check boxes, just a search box. 3. This query then needs to be output as a nice data table, similar to this: This in fact is a screenshot of a search I performed out of my SQL database, in phpMyAdmin using the column "Scott" for the search, and the number 226 as the search term. All column names are visible with the exception of the first column, entitled LINEID, made to be the key, and the output should not include the key but have everything else as above. 4. I can see what the simple line of php is that performed this task: SELECT * FROM `SMQSQL` WHERE `Scott` = '226' ORDER BY `LINEID` ASCbut I can't figure out how the hell to get this incorporated to a .php search. To sum it up, I need a .php page written that can connect to a SQL database, perform a data based search, and spit out a clean table when it is done. I had accomplished this in the past using an import into google docs and using it to perform a search and result display via the following code built into a php called SMQ.php:

But as you can see, this may not be the most secure thing in the world, plus we want to be able to expand it in the future and not be so simplistic, hence the need to switch to SQL.

This is a section of my code that goes and gets videos from any video site. What I’m having issues with is having it post a random title, that are all in a text file called titles.txt. What I’m wanting to accomplish is have my script go pull the video embed code, the duration, the tags, etc. Which all works fine until I get to the title part where it pulls locally from the server from the text file. Have page#1 with thumbs view_thumbs.php , when a thumb is clicked thumb link goes to page#2 which is the video_play.php page(which must play embed codes from xml sheet) Using GET method to identify incoming link from page#1. Hi I have a form which is used to upload files to my server, now i need to move files to another server as soon they are uploaded, but move_uploaded_file will work with local server where form has been submitted. i was thinking to add some ftp functions to upload that file to remote server but is there any better way? that user dont notice ftp connection timing. i wants to use less ftp connections and user should not notice delay timing for image upload. I want to be able to download a file from a site such as FileServe using my premium details. Ive tried http://username:password@fileserve.com/file.rar but that dosent work, It just downloads a tiny small 30kb file.
